This was exactly my thinking for it. My character's a country bumpkin where she grew up learning absolutely no manners and etiquette, so would swear a lot. But she's been doing it much less - really only using the.. harder profanities when angry or annoyed, though it slips every-now-and-again. She'll say 'shite' a lot, though.

I know what you meaaaaan about feeling uncomfortable and shy to get people to RP with you I have a bit of social anxiety so I don't ask very much because I always feel like nobody has time for me. Though, it's even trickier to get people to RP with me because my character doesn't like talking to new people (she's cautious and wary of them) but when someone new talks to me, OOC I'm like "YAAY RP! ..But.. Goddamn my character's personality!" It takes awhile for her to build bridges with people, but I find that's fun Your background story sounds good so far, though I personally don't know too much about the lore and how to incorporate things. Try reading about FFXIV's wiki - AFAIK WHM's are like.. druids, where they take healing energy from the earth's aether (energy) but can't do it so carelessly, or (in)experienced ones can heal from using their own life force, I think? Well, as far as the whole 'God-playing' thing... people will tell you you can play whatever the Hell you want which is very true! Play whatever you want, personality, background etc. But just bear in mind that some people take their lore very seriously and will be apprehensive or just won't roleplay with you completely if you're doing something ominpotent like that. Hehe, IC clothing makes sense! My character doesn't have much money and she has a signature green tabard (that her partner bought for her) so she's seen in that, or her work clothes which is a yellow vest and shorts She wouldn't be able to afford many other clothes, and sometimes some clothes just don't work out for your character's personality, you know? Like if you get some really weird armor that you wouldn't see her get caught wearing even when dead...! The ninja-clothes-changing jutsu is very easy! When you're in game you have a character panel and you can create 'Gear Sets', and all you need to do is click one button and hey - presto! All your gear is changed with the touch of a button! As for the whole pregnancy thing, yes! What Amyness said about it being progression: I know someone who OOC will say a month or two = the nine months of Eorzean times IG (timelines is very personal and up to you to decide when this or that happened.) So, for my character... Amyness is actually my in-game sister. I'll try to explain quickly: My character came from a rural, shanky middle-of-nowhere secluded village and left recently (In-game time six-seven months ago currently) and I discussed with Amy a quick history of our character's background, where our characters were estranged, but found each other again years, and years later in Ul'dah (one of the cities) and they've been trying to reconnect ever since. So some brainstorming is needed!

Hi! I only started RP'ing (never had RP'ed before in my life) five months ago, I'll share what I know from noob-to-noob and the things I've picked-up on, hehe. By RP group do you mean a posse of RP'ers who are involved with your storyline? Get a group of friends, browse people's profiles who interest you (here!! http://www.ffxiv-roleplayers.com/wiki/ ) and message them asking if there's anything you could work out - most I've found are looking for childhood friends, family members, stuff like that and they're usually very friendly and nice about it! Or join a Free Company (Guild.) Character progression is up to you, but... like I re-made my character's personality three times over the course of the months S'been quite a battle. The more I thought about how my character acted; how her background and storyline affected her as a person now, the more I had to change how she acted outwardly towards others. I find in the early stages there's not too much wrong with playing about and changing their personality, but create a foundation first to help yourself so you don't risk changing too much. Get a character background basis sorted out, and what kinda personality you'd like to play. Leave things vague! If you're unsure with how exactly you want to play out things, leave it vague! Example: my character is a country bumpkin, and was from random make-believe village land, until I got to talk about with some well-knowledgeable people about in-game locations and now I was able to choose where she's from that made sense in my head, and for my character. Another example is that I left her family vague, and was able to incorporate a lovely lady into my storyline as her sister! Oh! Also! If you mean character progression as well with her own battles in-life, like an event that made her re-think life, or want to grow stronger as a person, make a post about it in the forums asking for help/people to help RP as the background characters, or PM people as well! Anytime is acceptable for OOC should it call for it! Most people surround their messages ((like this)) to show that they're speaking OOC - to show that they're correcting a typo they've made or need to go. Though, I personally don't use brackets much because I always type in quotation marks if I'm RP'ing, and I chat to non-RP'ers as well. Powerful? I think... from what I was told, say your character is an elite soldier, and should be able to beat-up a squire (I haven't RP'ed fighting yet at all) I'm told everything is handled by roll, so should the squire get a better roll he'll get a 'lucky shot.' But as far as in-general goes, if you're God-moding it's a no-no where you can automatically beat everybody up and/or kill them or decide their fates. (Or Super Saiyan, super-duper-amazing-powers that shouldn't exist like magical princess from the planet of unicorns.) Why couldn't you use your character for OOC? You don't need to stay in IC all the time I'm a PVE'er foremost, and I have two characters: I made this one solely for RP, but then I started grinding her in dungeons because the gear's toooo preetttyy. There is a problem sometimes where you're not in IC gear and people try to RP thinking you're in canon-gear, but I just politely whisper and tell them I'm not, and then do ninja-clothes-changing-jutsu and resume to do RP with them (if I'm in the mood.) I completely forgot about British Summer Time (which literally happened about four hours ago) where our clocks go forward an hour, so if you hadn't, then... my heart would have completely dropped at the idea of not being able to attend this event. Erik, Erik, guys, Natalie, guys, please, please, I beg of you, please! As a European/UK player who has always dreamed of attending a ball, please, please, I will beg, and plead to request if you would consider making the start time earlier. At the very least like.. one.. hour earlier? Would that be too much to ask? I'm so sorry! I hate asking for things but I want this so much! The current schedule for the ball is 2am-8am GMT. I know the Coffer usually starts at around 3am, but I want to spend forever there. Seriously. Please. I want to actually spend forever. I would spend the whole night but I have work the next morning. Unless, like, because this month's Coffer actually started an hour earlier than I thought it would (2am GMT instead of 3am GMT?) Unless the 8pmEST/6pmPST is when it 'officially' starts, but people can still go early if they want? Still, I thought I'd ask - I'm actually so excited it's unreal. Can I go on ahead and just add what I want in this game and not what I hope for 2.2? For the Squenix Team/Yoshi-P to know that the RP Community is alive and that little things are nice. For example.. when I'm looking at a character and move up really close to them, she doesn't look into their eyes anymore - my character looks as though she's seen something shiny behind them and is staring away off into the distance.. and it's really off-putting. Make changes to the chatbox: it's clunky. There are games where you can increase the size of your actual character-typing box to see what you've written, and RP'ing with it can be infuriating as shit. And please completely remove flags - I absolutely hate whenever I type something, or for the person I'm RP'ing with to type something but we're sitting around for an extra 10mins and don't realise one of our messages didn't go through because of a filter in the chat system. An extra sitting /sit2 animation? I know some Miqo'te males who just want to be able to sit properly sometimes. Being able to use /doze in any beds and not just FC Housing? Individual Player housing too? I'm always a sucker for new hairstyles, but the one they lack are longer ones. I know they're a pain in the arse to do though. Oh yeah, I also really, really wish for formal clothes.. like a nice dress for my character that isn't, you know, wench-wear that the prostitutes around Limsa wear. Or... something revealing (err, that 'formal' wear where it's Suddenly Boobs whenever you put it on. Sigh.) Just some extra vanity/RP clothes - I'm really hoping that they're adding more clothes for crafting in 2.2 thanks to the vanity system. And an increase in Mythology but since they're adding a new set, I'm pretty sure we'll be seeing a raise in how many you get per dungeons.

BUT I AM THE ENVY OF ALL MEN. FOR THEY WISH THEIR BEARDS WERE AS LUSCIOUS AS MINE. And, my beard will not scratch-up the faces of the people I kisskiss, so I've got that goin' for me which is nice I guess...

I know some people write in their Search Info certain factors, like if their Fairy (SCH) is up then they're not IC. For myself, I tell them to PM me first to check - it can be frustrating when your character isn't in their proper attire but they try to initiate on you and then you're called 'clowny' from now on (Yeah, you know who you are. T_T ) It's either that or you perhaps also edit your search Info and put up the 'AFK' sign?

I have never RP'ed before (ever. This game is my very first exposure to RP), so starting up Elyscia was a toughie. Before Elyscia.. she was Punch Cat. Punch Cat. More alternatively named she was Shizei Ko, or 'Pun Chkat'. I was supposed to RP with my Canadian friend and we were both to be antagonists - flirtatious thieves, and she was going to be Roegadyn and call herself Punch Fish/Pun Chfish. It sounded pretty fun, but because of the full sever shenanigans I ended-up in Shiva (until free server transfers started). When I joined Balmung I decided to keep Shizei Ko who was boisterous, flirty, rude, but then I re-made her because I messed-up her tail and during it I thought "I love red hair and green eyes." And made Elyscia Rose. I had trouble thinking up her surname though.... Re-rolled her personality at least three times. The more I thought about her background, the more I thought about how it'd affect her as a person.. so if X happened to her I don't think she'd show Y personality or moods: she was a lot more defiant and curious, then she turned child-like, exciteable, now she's all cautious and bitter.

Clover: do you edit your screenshots per chance or are you just a really good screenshotter/photographer? My graphics are set to Maximum but I don't think they ever come out as crisp and saturated.

At the third screenshot: who let the chocobo chick attend?! That's highly Iirresponsible! It could have been stepped on and worse! Thank you very much to the Order for organising these events - I always look forward to them every month. I was outside the actual coffer building for the majority but I still had fun.

I'm a night owl throughout the entire week and gotten into the bad habit of ssleeping at 6am and waking up at 11th but there's so much stuff to do that sleeping gets in the way of!
