  1. I sort of like the concept of moderation through extremes. Great power in one spectrum, yet a glaringly large weakness or disadvantage in another. I suppose that would cater to both options, though. Thoughts?
  2. I was trying to do AK for one of my many relics. Somehow, we got two new people. Tried helping and offering suggestions to help. Mostly just replied with "lol." It wouldn't have been so bad if these people weren't pants-on-head clueless. We got to Demon Wall, and before I could pull, one skirted up to the edge, looked around, then walked off. They died. The other one watched, saw him die, and in the spirit of a true Lemming, walked off with him. Maybe he was seeing if it would happen again. It did. We wiped on the last boss a few times somehow. I think we almost ran out of time at the end. I might have cried.
  3. Perhaps it might seem a little informal to not place names in a significant kudos post, but there are so many people I would need to mention. As that is the case, I think I would more or less wish to thank the community as a whole. There have been so many people that have been there for me one way or another, that have provided me happiness in a weak and dark time. Though the darkness is not over, and many have drifted, many may speak seldomly to me, perhaps a few would go so far to say they dislike or loathe me...I still remember all the good that was present in my life, even if those times are no longer. It was still something that brought me joy and kept me going, and for that, I would like to offer thanks. I try to remember that no matter how things may turn out, there was still a time when there was happiness and positivity, and it is alright to cherish such memories. Such a way of thinking helps me keep hopeful. Many people make me smile and remember there is kindness and happiness to be had, every time I log on. I wish I could tell you all how much you mean to me, even if all you have to offer is a wave, or a passing hello in game. Sometimes the smallest things hit me at the right time, just when I find myself struggling. I just want to thank you all for being here, for keeping my head up.
  4. I play a character with near no control over aether. A lot of his skills are purely honed through practice, study, and diligent observance. While he's particularly penchant with most crafts, he is moderately skilled with most weapons out of regards to better his craft. I would say he isn't a specialist at most fighting styles, wishing more to approach things as a strategist, only using the smallest amount of force necessary. To accommodate this sort of skill, I would say the one form of skill he has offensively is simply honed senses, deft reflexes, and a knack with daggers and poisons. It's a bit odd, as I would not really lump him in the rogue/ninja category of fighting style, as he is a bit more reserved and refined with his abilities. It's more or less something used in desperation or defensive reactions. Regardless, it is nothing supernatural.
  5. I think Jan deserves Kudos for always seeming to make me feel remembered and cared about when I feel the most alone and forgotten, even if it manifests itself in the most random references to the word whack and bad beef jokes.
  6. I think if you want to see some awful shitty economics, look at the buyer list for always needed seal items, like coke or potash. Now that's some shit, unless you have a lot of money to do the same thing. Though, on the housing thing, I think the time explanation delved more into my point. Time is a HUGE factor in this equation due to the implementation on SE's part.
  7. I think I am more on board with the system of the housing being made iffy on account of SE, and people are acting in accordance. There are a few things you can weigh or think about when making a decision, with a bit of a critical thought to work around the system. Many people have expressed their distaste with lack of availability between servers, but seeing as they implemented a similar system with weddings, and the changes in housing, it is not something in immenent lines to be fixed. With how things work, things are quite expensive, but this can benefit you both ways. People are going to pay more for stuff, and the market is going to have more flowing in and out, so the ability to make money is far more bountiful on these servers than it is on a "stable" one. Unfortunately, when a house is relinquished, it returns to maximum value minus devaluation. It is unfortunate, but the price scale of houses that are small makes them readily accessible by most people. Some people do want to have a way to make some costs back, so their only option is to sell. If someone is selling for more than house cost, such as the example of 12mil, all you can do is decide not to buy it. We must also consider that if you are going to sink 13mil into a small at this point, you also have the option of getting another extra mil or two to buy one of the free devalued mediums available. This is particularly important to note, since chances are, the person selling their small house for a large amount probably wants one of those plots. By selling at a higher price, they are risking missing out on a house that you, the buyer, could wisely purchase first. There are checks and balances to all things, and as a buyer, you have much more power than perhaps you are giving credit for. If the money is too high, there are people who are kind to simply relinquish. There are also people who just relinquish without telling a soul. I know a few people snatched houses like this. I wouldn't say the sellers are always the majority, because even they are selling with risks involved. Also, it saves you from having to wake up at an ungodly hour to play the racing game, too. Some people find sleep has no monetary value too high.
  8. About the only thing I want is some fathomable hope at getting the High Allagan tank chest...so I don't think I am in a place where I can ask for anything. However, I am available to help people with most anything (minus probably Ifrit EX and T9) and I am able to craft anything up to three stars, (four if CRP). Feel free to prod me in game if you could use assistance, under the name Devereau Beauregard (different name, same obnoxious lavender hair.)
  9. I figured that would be the case. It's part of why we're just waiting. Their IC life is far too hectic anyway right now to take a step back and have a wedding. Pretty much. Plus, it's the holiday season, and schedules can be pretty questionable. Regardless, most of the prime times are going to pretty fast. I would recommend doing a late night/early morning just to make sure you get a good time. The only reason I decided to go with a Christmas Eve date is 50% forgetfulness, and 50% of it being the only way my SO get to do something nice together for Christmas.
  10. Hopefully the scheduling is much more smooth as the weeks come up. This week was all booked up within minutes of platinum tier reservations opening.
  11. My character tends to be terrible at consistency. He tends to suffer from bursts of passion and desire to do things, but is generally horridly sidetracked often, no matter how great he thinks the subject at hand is. So many incomplete projects.
  12. Would be cool with a waiting list spot. Didn't want to send a pm on accord of it being a waiting spot.
  13. If you open back up, let me know! Will happily buy something.
  14. Whut? SMN may be my weakest class, but I'm pretty sure the filler spell you'll be using between refreshing dots is regular old Ruin. If you're looking to maximize your dps though, Ruin 2 should be used before every off-GCD skill you use, like Fester and Aetherflow. Other than that it's just a waste of MP, which SMN can burn through pretty quickly anyway. But Thaarus has a point in that most i130 caster gear has spell speed on it, which is ass for SMN. ASS. Sorry, I should clarify. Only reason I say Ruin 2 there is so you aren't locked in spell cool down during opener, which can prevent you from making that last few seconds of Raging Strikes to get in two buffed Festers. ANY OTHER TIME USE RUIN IF YOU AREN'T MOVING OR NEED TO HIT SOMETHING FAST. Also, many people use SMN just for t11 because of that.
  15. Honestly, SMN is pretty out of favour at the moment with FCOB tier gear, but there is a few general things you'll want to know. You want to follow general opening burst sequence. Swiftcast Shadow Flare -Raging strikes - Bio 2 - Miasma - Bio - Miasma 2/Potent Poisoning Pot - Fester - Contagion - Pop pet cool downs, Ruin 2 while waiting for Fester - Fester as soon as available. That should lengthen your dots as much as possible, blow CDs to be up sooner and get you two festers in the span of a Raging Strikes. You also really want to have Shadow Flare up as much as possible. Aim to refresh dots at 5, no less than 3 to keep them up at all times while maximizing normal spell time. Always have pet on obey, and use that to conform to some of the fight tactics. I find usually it's best to have per attack your current target, maybe have contagion macroed to Fester, etc; if you want to have stuff rather streamlined without the stress of manually doing it all while learning. You'll get the feel for the flow well.
  16. Your Doman Miqo'te have lizard tails - your argument is irrelevant. Your Eorzean [Please look forward to it!] have fur. Your argument is invalid. We're going to have to watch this, for a while, aren't we? PLEASE LOOK FORWARD TO IT.
  17. My character tends to gravitate towards anything highly saturated and solid. Dulled, soft hues or patterns are very unappealing. The two most dominant colours in his wardrobe would be purple (either lavender, or a royal, deep purple) and red (predominantly true or blood red, occasionally wine.) This may also be accented with golds, greenish blues, whites or magenta (think Rolanberry.) It is a bit of an atypical combination, but part of that is what I like. They are unnatural to be in unison, and purple is a colour or rarity in itself. It is not something that often occurs naturality in nature, and as such, is held in regal regards. He tends to be strange, noble in stature and eloquent, so it seemed more rich, elaborate colours and fabrics would be suiting.
  18. Thank God I can just remember references. I can hardly remember a movie I could stay awake or sit down long enough to watch as a kid. I don't know how anyone put up with me. I'm just mostly ecstatic that I finally got to see the inside of the Sanctum. It has been one of my favorite landmarks in game since I first discovered it, and I've always been itching to see what it was like. It makes me feel oddly nostalgic. I do hope we are able to enter and exit at will, or else perhaps I won't have the heart to go through the ceremony! As boring as I usually find fetch quests, it was oddly fun to do with someone I truly love. That, and it showcased a lot of nice scenic areas that may be nice for RP! Has anyone else looked at the bracelet after you accept the quest? I thought it was a nice touch that where they typically put the crafter's name, it has the name of your betrothed.
  19. Oh, I agree, but I can see where the confusion ties in. When doing the quest line, they do consider the fetch quests to be a bit of a ritual, rather. I did post a thread pointing out this bit, just for extra clarification/discussion. After writing a lot of copy and text for tutorials, you learn you can never really be too specific, because it is natural for most people who are learning of a concept to assume nothing, and potentially find any way to break things.
  20. While SE provided a nice handy page with lots to read, it seems there might still be some questions on what goes on with the tiers. It seems people have been getting hung up on what will happen if only one person can afford a paid tier for mount/items. It is worth noting that the noted pay scale will apply on EVERYTHING, not just the ceremony details and planning. Also, if you cancel the quest at any time, even before the actual ceremony, your wristlets will dissolve. http://www.reddit.com/r/ffxiv/comments/2os340/psa_eternal_bonding_forced_downgrades/ For reference.
  21. I do agree that while it seems that what they wrote means that, the wording makes it sound like it will impact only the ceremony customization. The context is not painfully specific, and it should be when it involves money. That sort of thing should be clear in a culture where people sue for EVERYTHING. I wonder how they will handle it.
  22. ACTUALLY, in regards to above post, I would read this. Not sure if it's an error, but I would advise EXTREME caution. If you're worried or short on cash, consider going Gold.
  23. So is it confirmed that the same character can marry twice? I'm reading different discussions and people are being skeptical about it because of the "Eternal Bond" name. This will soon be followed by a Divorce event chain where you PvP duel with your estranged significant other over who gets to keep the personal housing and chocobo after the fact. Please look forward to it! ... Now I made myself sad. I'd divorce just to see that. Though, to actually answer the question, you are able to marry again. You will have all the items from your previous one. The only stipulation is that you may only be married to one person at a time. There is a way to annul or dissolve the thing. (Edit) If you anull or dissolve, your wristlets will break, and new ones will need to be gotten. READ THIS FIRST.
