1. Welcome to the RPC! I hope you enjoy your stay as well! Make yourself at home~ *offers cookies* If you have any questions or anything, please feel free to ask.
2. My stance is quite simply that I wish to avoid page bloat on my own wiki by creating a few informative pages for some of the more prominent NPC's involved with her current and back story. I felt this would give a prospective reader the opportunity to delve deeper and learn more about a particular character who may also have touched other PC's somewhere along the way. And if they chose not to read about Eva's father, fiancé, whatever than they have the option to simply not click the link. I would agree that a spoiler tag could be used for some examples where there is little more than a blurb, but I know at least one NPC character who has had involvement with a number of other PC's and could easily be referenced by many. I'm thinking "object oriented" - a character's friend/acquaintance/family/whatever is a separate unit and if there is more than a blurb's worth of information on that individual, I see no reason why there cannot be a separate wiki page for it. I absolutely voted Yes. EDIT: Moreover, from reading bits of chatlog from various sources I cannot help but get the impression that this suggestion was somehow misperceived as some sort of an attack. I'd like to reiterate the point that I made on the other thread that I think the changes to the Wiki are outstanding! I know Deirdre and others have worked hard on them and I was in no way trying to subjugate that accomplishment. Deirdre is awesome! It was simply a suggestion that I thought would benefit the wiki and the RP community.
3. Perhaps put it to a vote and see if maybe more than a few of us would make use of it? I really don't see the harm to be honest and would prefer to avoid nested spoiler tags on my page if at all possible.

Hello

Welcome to the RPC~ 8-)
5. I would think a separate "storyline NPC" section would make a good deal of sense. I suspect these will be more than little blurbs about supporting characters - at least the characters I'm thinking of have had a lot of life breathed into them. I also felt this might come with the advantage that some PC's share a common bond with certain storyline NPC's and that NPC might have a sort of "shared ownership" and its wiki page updated by both/all involved parties. I'm also not sure it necessarily would need its own section (not sure why anyone would want to look up a list of everyone's storyline NPC's) but some sort of a tag or something that would keep it off the list of Playing Characters or a little notation at the top of the page to indicate that this is not an actual PC. I admit I don't know too much about structuring a wiki and the extent of what I've done is just creating/updating my own character page thus far. If this is not something that is really feasible, I suppose I can just put the relevant information under spoiler tags for the sake of keeping the page itself clean.
6. Looks great!! I have one [hopefully quick] question. I saw this note under the page for NPC's: I have been considering, after updating Eva's page, adding a few pages for a couple of the NPC's that exist in her backstory or elsewhere: her father, her former boss, her late fiancé, etc. Is there a setting that can be toggled to prevent these from appearing on the "Player Characters" list or is that something that could be amended (something like Player NPC's maybe?) or alternately how do you think this would most eloquently be handled. Thanks in advance!
7. Mmmmmm... tea~ Here's a few which may or may not have been referenced in actual in-game RP~ Nophica's Embrace Left to steep for several days for optimal taste before boiling and serving, this deep reddish tea gets its bouquet of soothing aromas and subtle flavors from all across Eorzea. Ingredients: * Red Landtrap Leaves * Matron's Mistletoe * Blood Currants * Chamomile * Extract from Lowlands Grape * Nutmeg The Sun Shower A delightful breakfast beverage, the Sun Shower is a powerful black tea featuring a pungent aroma said to be able to rouse the senses of even the deepest slumberers. It is often paired with squeezed sun lemon juice in a quantity to suit the drinker's taste. Ingredients: * Thanalan Tea Leaves * Zest of a Sun Lemon * Yellow Ginseng * Finely ground Cinnamon Baron Teale Named for an Ishgardian noble, this orange-flavored blend once reserved for only the wealthiest Eorzeans has become widely available to all and is synonymous with high-class living, even for those on a budget. It is most commonly paired with sweet cream and honey. Ingredients: * Laurel Leaves * Finely-grated Pearl Ginger * La Noscean Orange Peelings * Nutmeg Sweetened Dreams This before-bedtime blend was made with adventurers in mind and is offered at most inns throughout Eorzea to aid weary travelers to their dreamland destinations. Ingredients: * Blue Landtrap Leaves * Chamomile * Honey * Buffalo Milk * A single drop of Belladonna extract
8. I missed this earlier because I make it a point to avoid this thread while I'm at work, but this is lovely~ Thank you!! *drops dew thread, cotton yarn... and disappointment* :frustrated:
9. Nymeia, hands down. No great surprise here as Eva has strong fatalist tendencies and firmly believes in destiny, "everything happens for a reason" and all that other good stuff. I hemmed and hawed a bit about selecting the last option for "tied" as she has recently adopted a tremendous amount of respect for Nophica as well, firmly believing that her prayers to the Matron have been answered as she was not supposed to be able to bear children and now finds herself pregnant (though certainly not by any sort of divine intervention ) This all being said she has a great deal of respect for the ten other deities as well and honors each depending on various situations (such as saying a quiet prayer to Llymlaen before taking a voyage by sea, for instance).
10. We were hoping to use our character name, though we're considering changing her surname for ARR if it's an option, however there's been no indication one way or the other that it will be - so we're a little stuck at the moment.
11. All manner of tea leaves, water crystals/clusters/shards, yarn/thread/cloth, some super-duper knitting needles... ...and maybe two large thundermelons. >.>
12. /tea :bouncy: Seriously there is a lot of things I would love to see implemented to encourage more/better RP. Different neutral postures while standing or sitting to sort of establish whether a character is more reserved, rambunctuous, agitated, coquettish, etc. Posture is important for stuff like that. I'd love to be able to cross my legs while seated, or fold my arms beneath my chest and stare pointedly at someone. Hugs, kisses, glomps, and other more interactive emotes would be really awesome too~
13. Heard a little about you from Blade/Avina - and he speaks very highly of you. I'm also looking forward to meeting your character in ARR~
14. "Eva, huh? Aye, she used to work here. That was a long time ago though - a couple years before that great red death from above came crashing down all around us..." The elderly Wildwood emphasized his point by bringing his palm down loudly against the surface of the wooden countertop, before smiling sheepishly and using his withered fingers to comb salt-and-pepper hair. "Good with numbers. Always used to remind me about how we weren't really turning any profit. Not enough customers. Never enough customers. She liked watching them scan the shelves though, when they did come in. I think she and the others enjoyed all the quiet time with all the books though, even if we didn't sell none too many of 'em." His pot-belly shook as he bellowed laughter. "'Pater, don't you care about making money?' or 'Pater, aren't you worried about losing the shop?' - bit of a worry-wart, that one. It's too bad what happened..." The old elezen's smile faded suddenly and he moved back to the nearby wall, placing books from a neatly stacked pile up on the shelves. "She still came to visit though - sweet gal. A bit rotund when I first met her, but she had a pretty face. I'd worked with her father in the past, before Thal took him. He wanted me to give her a job. I was skeptical at first, of course - lots of foul rumors surrounded him and his business, but I never regretted it. She was probably the best employee I could have asked for. Hard-working, kept the shelves super tidy, was friendly around the customers if a bit shy - when we had customers in here of course!" He chuckled softly to himself again before continuing, "She met her beau here, actually. A writer went by the name of Pemmy-something-or-other It's been a long time. Portly lad himself though, come to think of it. They got along pretty famously for awhile. I'm not her father much cared for the Greens, but... well, I'm not one to speak ill of the departed. They were together a good long time. I always used to tease her about when they'd be getting married. They were good for each other though. He loved to write. She loved to read. Can't get much more perfect than that, mmmh? They both went swimming together a lot in the summers and kind of helped each other shed some of those ponz I suppose. With everything that happened with them folks up in the North though, he decided to train for war. He was a good lad, but foolish sometimes. And his hands were better suited for a quill than a sword." The aged man took a deep breath before continuing, "Guess there was an accident a couple moons after he went off to training; some kind of explosion. Took the boy's life. It's unfortunate, really. K- Ah, Eva was never really the same after that. Cried a lot at work, missed some days. It wasn't like her, but I understood. Loss. S'tough stuff..." Pater bowed his head and allowed a reverent moment to pass before picking up another book and finding its place on the shelves, "I guess it was about a year after his death she decided to quit her job here and take off for Ul'dah. She an' Pemmy were going to elope there when he got back from training for the war. Her father was pretty sick by that point too, but she was able to hire a nursemaid for him. I guess she'd been ferreting away all that gil she'd earned working here. She'd still visit though, and spoke about places she'd seen and friends she'd made. I always used to tell her there was a big world out there to see! To be honest I missed her and the shop wasn't the same after she left, but I was glad to see her spread her wings a bit." "She said how she'd joined become an adventurer in Ul'dah and bought an apartment there and joined some sort of league of other adventurers, and she took up weaving and became a seamstress. Made me a few pairs of pants for Starlight, even. Beautiful fabric and excellent craftsmanship! That one was always a bit of a perfectionist though." The old elezen chuckled, shaking his head at some passing memory. "There was some business conglomerate she was involved with as well. 'Outer Heaven' maybe? I never really understood the meaning of the name. I guess that wasn't meant to last either, though. Or she wanted to take after her beau and help prepare for the war. I remember when she joined the Eorzean Guard and learned to pick up a spear like her ol' man did. She had a lot of questions about when I was younger and fought the good fight!" He smiled proudly and gestured to a strung bow hung over the entryway. "I'd never have imagined it if I didn't see her in the armor with my own two eyes, standing right where you are now! She wore it well, and she'd become quite striking I might add. She was doing something for herself and I was proud of her, like an uncle. Training hard, and exercising. She used to visit me on her daily runs after she moved back to Gridania. Being apart from her father had taken its toll on her nerves, methinks, and she was never one for the intense summer heat. That's probably worse in Ul'dah, and I don't fathom there's many lakes and streams out in Thanalan - and if there was one thing she loved more than reading, it was swimming. I must confess I was glad to see her around the shop more often too, even if she wasn't working here." "I guess the Guard didn't hold up either, but she followed one of her fellow soldiers to another group - The Everwatch. I still remember the recruitment posters. Hung a few of them up here in the shop even! It seemed like they'd be helping out around the Twelveswood, which I knew she had wanted. And she'd become respected enough to be one of this fellow's chief lieutenants! She even had a fancy name and a shiny dagger to commemorate the promotion. Although the title has been lost to me with the years. But the dagger itself was something to behold!" Pater gestured grandly with his hands before placing the final book up on the shelves, before turning around again. "And it was good to see her happy again. She'd made some friends and had a renewed sense of purpose. But then her father passed on. He was kind of young too, but he'd been sick for some time. His mind wasn't right. She'd say he'd forget things sometimes - important things you shouldn't forget, you know?" He paused a moment, wiping his brow before kicking a stepping stool to one side and returning to the counter. "That took a bit of a toll on her, but she had some friends to help her through it. And a budding relationship with the fellow that ran the company. She used to come here frustrated, sometimes. Always slow to anger, she was. So it was unusual for her to come here venting steam to this old man. She'd confide in me about her worry about how her feelings this fellow got in the way of her work, and how he could be all lovey-dovey one moment and a bitter lummox the next. It was plain to see she loved the man though, and after losing Pemmy and seeing how that devastated her, it was good to see her young heart find love again. She never thought she would, but... it always seems to happen when you never expect." His gaze fell to the floor again before he went on, "It's tragic though. This fellow - I think his name was Oskar - was involved in some sort of cave-in. The crimson rays of Dalamud were peeking through the canopy by that point though. She scarcely had time to mourn his passing before the war came crashing around us all. Those final days, she was planning to run away to that place where her ancestors lived. She had some cousins there I think, and thought she might be safe. She had such conviction that everything would be all right. She said she would come back one day, ask me about some of those parlor tricks I used to show her..." His frown withered for a moment as he held up both hands, empty. A quick gesture of his hands produced a small, leather-bound book that appeared within them as if from thin air. "She always marveled at my sleight-of-hand. She'd gotten pretty good at some of it herself, but no one tops the master!" A slight grin touched his lips as a similar flick of his wrists made the book 'disappear' back to wherever it had come from. "I guess she was wrong about that part though. I'm afraid she's passed on to Thal's realm. A lot of lives were lost that day and I'm not sure anyone was truly safe. What might be most tragic of all - I think she may have been with child. The last time I saw her, she was holding her belly the way a pregnant woman might. And she had that glow that expecting mothers get. Even with all the sadness, she managed to hang on to some crumb of optimism. It's too bad... she was always one of the good ones..." The elderly Wildwood shook his head a bit, sighing deeply. Polishing the wooden counter with an old rag, he paused a moment and looked up, "Why'd you want to know about Eva anyway? Were you a friend of hers?" ~ A conversation overheard in a backwoods book shop in Gridania
15. I haven't played FFT in a very long time, but Mediator would make a great deal of sense for Eva as one of the classic FF jobs. I don't see her turning Garleans into allies or any such thing, but she has been something of a counselor in each group she's belonged to since 1.0 launch - and there have been a few. Nurse would also be applicable, but isn't really a classic job. White Mage (or something akin to a Priestess) will likely work very well as a sort of job for her in ARR and will probably kind of bridge the gap between the two roles above. But weaving, knitting, crocheting, and embroidery has always been kind of her bread and butter up to this point and I don't know that I see that changing in the immediate future. TL;DR: Mediator/Counselor, Nurse, WhiteMage/Priestess, Weaver
16. I see nothing wrong with this, nor any reason to define exactly where the accent came from in particulars. It could just be that her parents happened to speak that way, and she picked it up from them. It may deviate a little bit from the lore, but I don't think it's unreasonable by any stretch of the imagination.
17. It's not really something that I think comes up with any great frequency, but accent is one of those things you might include on your wiki along with physical characteristics that may differ from your character model and such. I'd also think that if your accent was thicker, you'd be changing around the structure of your words appropriately. I've known some RPers that do this, and quite well! It's difficult to describe something like that when it's more subtle though, particularly as a constant, with any sort of regularity. And for most RPers I don't think it matters a great deal what sort of accent they may have, so long as their words are able to be interpreted. Like Eva has always meant to have kind of an airy voice with a slight Irish accent. Her father's accent was much thicker and this was more easily portrayed in his speech. But I guess I don't expect most other RPers to really have much of a regard for a character's accent beyond a passing reference given via wiki (which many people won't read) and such. I don't know that this helps answer your question really. I do think it's totally fine to have an accent though - many of the NPC's clearly do - but portraying that may prove difficult, depending on how thick the accent.
18. I voted Gridania here, but it's hard to say exactly where Eva will live at the onset of ARR. I have a feeling () that her home might have been taken over by someone else during her absence. So she may not have a home exactly, but she will probably be sticking close to the Twelveswood due to her loyalties and such. This is of course subject to change, so we'll see where RP events and such take her~
19. Eva was born in Ishgard. She lived there for about a year-and-a-half before moving to a small farm in Coerthas. She possesses no memory of her own of the spired city.
20. Welcome to the RPC! Sounds like an interesting character you've got in the works. Maybe we'll cross paths in Eorzea someday~

Crystalline

A Heavy RP Linkshell In 1.0 Crystalline was a loose association of members from a number of organizations who had no other specific ties to one another than friendship. Since the Calamity, those members have found themselves coming together once more and find those bonds to one another growing stronger. Crystalline in 2.0 will be a group that will progress from that loose association of individuals into a unified band of adventurers. Bound together by friendship and each carrying the cause of laboring under the Twelve, they will - in time - endeavor to bring charity and safety to the good people of Eorzea. This progression of our company from its loose sense of purpose to a more structured and focused company will happen somewhat gradually over a period of time. Those wheels, as it happens, are already in motion and we are hoping to be officially founded sometime in mid-to-late August. It should be noted that our recruitment is temporarily set to 'By Invitation Only'. While previously closed, we are looking for ways to incorporate those prospective members who have shown interest into our ranks in as realistic a manner as possible. Since we already have a handful of newer members who were not participating with us from 1.0, we would like for this process to be as gradual and to flow as naturally as possible. With each linkpearl that is handed out comes also a story for how that came to pass, and for us that is a very important element of what we are striving to become. We eagerly look forward to updating this listing when the company is officially founded in-character and opening our doors more fully to those new members who would be interested in joining us. In the meantime, if you are interested in joining our group than we would love to get to know you! Please visit our forums at the link below in introduce yourself so that we may get to know you and so that you may get to know us as well! For more information we welcome you to visit our website or our discussion forums where, upon forum registration, questions may be posted by anyone. Questions may also be directed to Eva Ianeira if you prefer.
22. Perhaps more apt is to say that every character, regardless of what I guess can best be called "alignment" should have specific reasons and motivating factors supporting his or her decisions. As has been said, most textbook "villains" do not consider themselves to be such, and may simply have radical views, an alternate perspective on right versus wrong, an entirely different set of priorities and values, or other motivating factors upon which they make decisions that go against what most would consider to be the moral fiber. A character once said to a different character that I RPed, "Your 'right' is different from my 'right'!" - and that stuck with me. That all being said, I recall a LS, The Slaughterhouse Dogs LS that attempted something like this. Though I cannot honestly attest to how successful that endeavor was as I don't recall having any interactions with them, though I'll admit the concept was interesting.
23. Aysun's right~ I certainly remember you~ Welcome back! EDIT: To be fair, it was pretty hard to forget that animated Morning Musume avatar.
24. *SQUEE!!* It's adorbs!! Got Bixby in there too, even!!! :moogle: Thank you Gerik~
