We can't say for sure what the increased ping will be but if they're giving a warning it may be bad. It may just be to cover their asses when people inevitably complain that it is higher.

If people are breaking the rules in posts that would cause a thread to ne locked (though I don't see why as it hasn't quite run its course) nothing is stopping people from reporting the posts. I would agree that some type of process for vetting will more likely than not help weed out potential issues. Even chatting with someone for a bit can be considered vetting. Better than indiscriminate acceptance of join requests or free company invitations.

I have to be perfectly honest. Based on my experience, I think knowing exactly what you want from an FC and communicating that is one of the most important things to have available to you in order to get the most from being in a guild. I think applications really help with that. What do you want from the FC? What do you want to get out of the membership in said FC? What can you contribute and what should you? If you've been on the RPC as long as I have, you have probably seen me jump from one FC... to another... to another... to another. Some of these I failed miserably to know what I wanted and whether or not I fit in. Some of that probably did not do too well because I have always completely bypassed what would be considered an FC applications process and joined by virtue of being friends with people inside the FC (IRL friends, raided once + friends inside, created the FC with IRL friends what a disaster this was, joined FC of static members, joined FC of peeps I raided with after destruction, joined the FC of peoples who were all kicked out from the destruction, joined friends who unfortunately could not be active when I was, joined friends again) What can I contribute towards RP? What is my character like? How would I get my character involved in RP when a lot of it is more FC-plot centric? What can I do to make it work? What do I need from those in the FC to help me make this work? A few failures of my not knowing these things have led me to part from FCs in a... sometimes bitter ending. My own regrets. ... and then sometimes you just get slapped in the face by a trout by the FC lead who doesn't pay for his own sub but his wife does so when he gets caught cybering she gets him off the game but before he leaves he kicks every single person out. The TV drama show will have a total of 7 episodes and they will be facing Twintania on the 7th episode. The show will have a "drama part" that takes place in real life and a "game part" that shows the actual game and game play. Is there anyway for his 60 year old father to beat twintania after seeing him do the wierdest things when he starts playing and as the show progresses? The story will make you laugh, make you cheer for the daddy of light, make you /facepalm and make "you" feel like a father watching over your son at the same time. Even though the show is 80% comedy, it also covers topics that players have in mind, such as "Does FFXIV, with its end raids and statics, really have so much drama and clashes that people outside of the game talk about?" or "is kicking a new player who does 20dps really all we can do? what is actually happening on the other side of the screen and why do new players act in that way?" After watching the whole story, you'll probably understand a portion of the pleasure of helping and leading someone and how precious new players really are. Reminds me of a run I had last night. Tank doesn't move Scorpion so now it's right on top of the lava pool and I can barely get off monk positionals. "pls move it" Tank dodges and now places scorpion in a way where I can only hit its face. Meanwhile, this giant lava pool keeps growing in the middle of the arena because it targeted the Tank and the tank didn't move from the center. In the end, giant lava pools were everywhere. I could only hit the scorpion from its face because I had aggro when WHM and Tank died. To lava. Party: whew. great save. nice. me: Voice in head: This would have gone so much better if the tank could actually position the boss without having people set off lava everywhere.

I wonder just how much Byakko etc presence on the map means. We have dragons and sea serpents and a kraken (but not near Limsa) on the old map. There are guardians and that massive figure in the swarm of miasma and clouds over Ilsabard and the Empire. There is a Bismarck though. Maybe?
