In the 3 year anniversary live letter, it wasn't explicitly stated in the slides but unofficial translation said that Squall was listed as the 1440 Veteran Reward but they couldn't show it off (yet)

Am I the only one who went "oh that Miqo girl" when they showed Khloe in the live letter? I was totally thinking it was the pink miqo girl child.

Why would you say that? Because it wasn't in the trailer. They don't typically put stuff like UI/HUD changes in the trailers though. I don't remember them even mentioning /gpose and stuff in the other trailers when it first came out. They didn't put the W crossbar stuff in here and we know it's coming.

That's from one of the previous patches "end" scenes right? I think a few of us thought that like you did.

You have assumed that these roleplayers already know the difference though. I can't count how many times I've met people who mentioned that they didn't know anything about roleplay but wanted to try it out. I once talked about 'roleplay drama' to someone who I know does the blog type of roleplay but has never engaged in tabletop etc. Their first reactions were "wait what? that's a thing you do? why can't you do that?" before it turned into "Oh I see now." They didn't -know- that those things are immersion breaking or the like. ((I mean I still flounder about immersion and caring about it, PVE or RPwise.))

I've seen a few here and there but the only ones that really come to mind as outright -being- there in public were some people roleplaying as the Sultana and some of the Scions. I easily ignored them though I know it was hard for some others when one of them (who later was mentioned as being new) tried to force it into the open. It was cringe-inducing in a way. I think part of the problem is that a lot of blog-related roleplay (at least those I have been exposed to on Livejournal, Tumblr, etc.) have a preference of taking established NPC canon characters and rolling with them. So I think some of these roleplayers come into FFXIV and want to engage into their usual. In these, OCs tend to be looked at with side glances. These RPs though tend to be more closed off or not forcing these types of headcanons into the public. Ask-blogs seem to be a bit of an offshoot from this which at times can be quite entertaining.

There should be more incentive than that to transfer off. Housing progression, plots. The gil limitations. There's just no real reason to leave, especially when you have to pay to do it.

I have been telling some people of all the fond memories I have of the short interactions I had with Denn, the player and with the roleplayer. I went to check out his characters' lodestone pages (see if Cicero was changed or what not) and saw that you all changed it to and I just started to tear up. Denn always added so much fun to whatever he was doing, in game, in roleplay... in raid. I fondly remember him losing a roll and allowing Kage to knock Denn out by having thrown Kage up into the air and as Kage fell down, Denn's eyes were blinded by the sun and she was knocked out by Kage's shield. In another scene, Denn accepted Kage's invitation to the Ball in Ul'dah as a date. And in another when Denn was going around as a Bandit, Denn sent me a tell asking me if certain things could go ahead. Kage had just gotten shanked in the Quicksand by Denn's lover. Denn and Kage had a linkpearl to communicate and so the idea would be that Denn would contact Kage in concern asking about his whereabouts. Denn, in disguise, would burst in like a Kool-Aid Roegadame. It didn't quite end up that way due to the sheer amount of people who ended up in those scenes but it was a truly memorable scene. Denn was one of the first in the Ul'dah Raid group (but certainly not the last) to welcome me as I pugged in for T1-4. Our very first meeting was a great positive. Our last was no less different as he helped close out a roleplay arc for a few of us that his character Cyrinius'li Cicero played a part in. Denn also played some games outside of FFXIV with me, helping me learn that Sins of a Solar Empire is truly a pirate's space. It's really just unfair. I remember his talks about work and school, talking about the field he was in. I'd always silently cheered him on, thinking he would get there. No doubt in my mind that would be the case.

To be honest, I was hoping apartments would help free some plots for people who really only wanted a personal room without wanting the FC or being wary of the FC and not needing larger than a small plot (or even bigger). I need SE to give ways for existing plots to grow and get housing without being homeless. Or even lose a lot of airship progress.

I will never forget the ribbing Denn gave me about Chipotle and the ill-fated Olive Garden consumption. Or his baked potato mt.

Holy shit fuck. I'm so sorry to hear this. Denn was a great guy, and I know I didn't speak to him much after bridges burned but.. shit fuck. He and all of you in NB are in my thoughts today. I still had hopes of maybe saying hi in a random sighting at Vegas

Let me explain why the word usage needs to be specific and why it's 'not just semantics' that I am pointing at the use of 1 apartment per ward. In the additional housing plots lodestone page They made -sure- to note subdivisions so that everyone knew how many plots would be added per residential district. Also keep in mind how the subdivisions in teleports are per ward. You can only use the aetheryte system per ward but it includes subdivisions as areas within the ward in its hierarchy of teleports and naming (If you go to each of the 12 wards you see Ward 1 tab 1-30 tab 31-60. It's not Ward 1 Ward 1 Subdivision. They may function in some basics as wards but subdivisions are not wards. Hoping that it really is subdivisions get 1 apartment.

There's going to be a delay in the original fat chocobo rewards. A few days.

Pretty sure most of gotten their alts geared and have stopped while it's always just rushed on Tuesdays. Even then, on tuesdays you will find some derps.

It's funny because the one run I'd run on Tuesday I had had 1 wipe on arachne, 1 on Forgall because other melee in my alliance can't keep their stuns in check and people with silences don't bother, 2 on Ozma before the people who were being shitty and left, and then all we had to deal with was a tank who thought it was better to turn Calo (isn't bad until the last phase where ranged are most likely to get haircut cleaves when trying to dodge the axe/clubs etc)

Mmm with ilvl30 gear in Cutter's Cry I can see why you might have had some issues. You would need to spend much more time actually making sure you get aggro and regain it.

I guess this is a pet peeve I don't understand. Don't get me wrong, the only FF titles that I haven't played or completed are 11, 12 and 13.. But I don't understand this? The titles are pretty much unconnected. Just because they chose to put familiar elements in one of their MMO titles doesn't make it necessary. But yeah it seems like it really is too harsh. I'd rather be annoyed by the ignorance of "I don't like the Final Fantasy titles I've played so I won't try it."

Yes, damage affects your hate/aggro generation. Having low gear will affect that, definitely.

The note with transfers. The $18 works for all characters you are allowed on your subscription (I think at this point most get the 8 per world one) if you transfer all of them on one world to just Balmung. So you create 8 new characters on say Coeurl. 72 hours later, all of them are at a point where you can see non-NPC players and chat with real people. Transfer all 8 of them at once to Balmung on a single $18 transaction. Honestly waiting for maintenance you could probably have beaten the 2.0 Main scenario questline before you actually beat the bots in.
