The Vent Tent - Poor PuGs and Other Terrible Tales

Everyone tells me that I have the worst DF pug luck they know. From tanks in not even DoW gear to ice mages with gathering gear... Playing with all jobs and in my experience, MNK and DRGs actually have pretty good AOE it's just letting them know and having the DPS to support it. AKA MNKs and DRGs can do short big pulls that aren't too long. Like I actually don't like the Anti-tower last trash pull that some people do. The room has waves so if you pull the hallway corridor into it, Invigorate and the other TP from Chakra thing won't keep me up long enough and I'll end up only doing Rockbuster more. Then again, there's a lot of melee who don't know how to AOE. It's just, in the end I want people to put their best foot forward and run at their potential and efficiency. Even while lazy DPSing, I'm still watching how fast I kill things (or not) and do my best. Drives me insane when people talk about netflix and chilling wile they just see about "but did you wipe?" /triggered by just typing "but did you wipe?" -

I lazy-queue as a SMN! More so these days because I'm worn out from work and just want to push buttons and get the roulettes over with. Also, I didn't know those mobs were on a timer. Though, I suppose it makes sense. I mean, the guy at the second boss is already keeping track of how quickly you finish that fight - his dialogue changes depending on how fast or slow you do it, after all. I have not had many DF runs that are quick enough to get it but yep he does have different dialogue. It goes something like "Oh the sirens were too much for you?" and then something like "Bested the sirens already?" if you get there I think before 80 min left on the timer. But I did have one last night! -

I typically do it as a tank when I want to see what I think the party may be comfortable doing and adjust as it goes. I definitely do it when I feel something is off. Like, "why is the tank hp only 1k more than my own? ... oh there is a cp earring and no choker. This explains why healing you is a bitch." They are typically the abilities that reduce damage or buff your hp. Such abilities include*: Foresight, Convalescence, Thrill of Battle, Vengeance, Sentinel, Bloodbath, Second Wind, Awareness, Rampart, and Hallowed Ground. -

I play MNK when I feel lazy because it's sorta fun but I also know I'm not the best at it and I can't carry a shitty dps in light parties. As in, I was in a Hullbreaker HM with a healer who was the type to overheal and run around and jump because they would rather do that for whatever reason and a not good bard. I actually found out that the mobs in the first boss are not actually WAVES. THEY ARE ON A TIMER. AS IN... YOU CAN ACTUALLY STILL BE KILLING THE 3 MOBS AND THE COEURL WILL SHOW UP -

But let's be real. You're still better than that tank who berated a recently-resubbed NIN in i180 gear (and whatever else needed to get into the new 60 experts) for being in an 'expert roulette and not being i230' and not moving, all before leaving the circle at the start of the duty. -

And you should have Bane from ACN right? To spread the dots? I haven't touched SMN since like a year ago but iirc 60 SMN can refresh all its dots like BRD with 1 action. I dont think he is referring to Bane. has tri-disaster at lvl 58 that inflicts the dots with certain durations (better than a refresher). Anyway, a healer who is doing nothing while I am not taking damage with my big hp and is dancing away or jumping around is the same as an ice mage as well as a DPS sitting in aoes all the time or a GLA in Praetorium or a DRK in lost city normal with an i44weapon that doesn't use unleash, or a lvl59 tank in gubal library who has shit health because he is wearing a cp earring and nothing in his choker slot in my opinion. I won't berate you. I may say something encouraging or give you a tip. But I will most likely bitch and vent about it somewhere. -
What's this? Not quite a -SPEED-running charity marathon Kage? That's right! Today I am giving you all advanced notice about Race Against Time, a 24 hour streaming marathon event that is raising funds for the Alzheimer Society of Canada. Disclaimer: Kage does not know the quality of the streamers but Chrono Trigger is a fun game and if you do not like it I am judging you it's for charity. Check it out, donate if you care to. Who have you met from video games?
Kage replied to Delilah Scythewood's topic in Off-Topic Discussion
But I've seen middle school girls as tall as me D: But when you're around shorties like myself, Nahare and Kage, you look super tall! True... /hands out stepping stools to all short people. I have actually had to use a stepping stool because roommates who are tall put things in the cupboard that is beyond my reach >>; -

I've met a couple people through this game by finding out miraculously that they lived near me. This does not count friends lol I met a grand total of like 2 people at the last FanFest. I plan to destroy that number by trying to be social at this upcoming one by being quite obvious who I am. -
https://www.myfavouritemagazines.co.uk/gaming/gamesmaster-magazine-back-issues/gamesmaster-august-2016-issue-306/ Completely sold out. They won't have this in stock.

That still seems kind of overboard, doesn't it? Is there really going to be someone looking at each individual picture to make sure each individual person has each issue? Chutes and ladders this bit is. Seriously, taking a picture to get it. Wow. Mail-in rebates levels of what? Digital does not count. The codes are hard copy prints inside of the magazines. And again, You MUST buy the issues in stores or hope that you can get a back order copy from them. Subscribing only makes sure you get the last magazine.
-
To reiterate, you don't need to have your face in the picture. Though seriously, taking a picture? >->

I've heard and read but not fully understood... EU trade laws tend to complicate promotional stuff like this? Something something something? I know part of the EU laws are why a lot of video games have several language options and all that. It sounds very complicated to run international promo campaigns that business lawyers have to read through and make sure things go 'ok'. Me thinks SE EU majorly fucked up with this outdated idea of which there are several issues I have with it (but it's not just SE EU). Both SE EU and SE Japan have campaigns that rely on resources that sell out (magazines vs specific drink items). SE EU forces the UK players to have to wait almost 3 months to get the entire set of items that (at least) NA players were able to get all at once. Not quite as alarming, the relative difference in cost. I don't remember how many points were required to get all the items in the Japanese promo event and how much the drinks cost. UK will need to pay roughly $30 versus roughly $20 that NA players paid. Fuck everyone who says people who have complaints are 'entitled'. No one is asking for this to be free. People would just like to be able to have the relative ease that others had it. (Also, again, there's no real evidence that NA players taking advantage of the Amazon loopholes caused this dumbfuckery that I attribute solely to SE EU so far.) We still don't know what other regions in the EU will get as their campaigns but they are eligible to participate (somewhat) in the one currently targeted at UK players. As such this poorly implemented campaign still affects them. I understand this is a promo but really it sounds like having to run through a maze in a marathon to get the items.

I should point out that this is shitty but it is not yet time to blame NA Amazon loopholes (not yet). They haven't (and probably never will) mentioned it but this is likely a very large dumbass idea by SE's EU marketing.

http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/threads/298950-About-the-EU-campaign-for-maid-outfit-and-fat-chocobo?p=3778581&viewfull=1#post3778581 Still BS tho~ Greetings, Thank you for all your feedback. We would like to take this opportunity to clarify some points about the in-game item campaign with GamesMaster magazine. Sending in a photo of yourself in order to obtain the Original Fat Chocobo Mount First and foremost, you do not need to send a selfie to be eligible. Photos will be needed solely to verify that you own all three copies of the magazine as part of this campaign. While your photo must feature yourself holding the printed bonus item codes, you do not need to feature your face. As long as the player submitting the photo is visible in the image in some way, and the team can verify that you possess the item code print-outs from all 3 magazines, you will be awarded the in-game item mount. In addition, GamesMaster will not use the photos provided for anything other than verification for the in-game mount item code. They will not, under any circumstances, be used in any public way or form and will be destroyed after being confirmed by the GamesMaster team. Campaigns planned for other territories In the Lodestone post, it was stated that: Note: Separate campaigns offering the same in-game items are currently being planned for those residing in: France, Belgium, The Netherlands, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Italy, Spain, Australia, New Zealand and Nordic territories. Further details on these campaigns will be posted at a later date. The campaigns for other countries will be independent and won’t be tied to GamesMaster magazine. Distribution methods and campaign content will vary per country/campaign, but the same range of in-game items will be available through these campaigns. We will follow up with further announcements on promotions for other territories as soon as information is available. Although GamesMaster is a UK-based magazine, non-UK residents can take part in this campaign by ordering the printed magazines online as they can be shipped to over 100 countries globally (a list of these 100 countries can be found here). If you possess a European service account and would like to take part in the campaign, you can order printed copies of the magazine to obtain the in-game item codes. Magazine subscription You do not need to subscribe to GamesMaster magazine in order to take part in this campaign; you can purchase each issue separately and still acquire the Original Fat Chocobo Mount. The first issue with FFXIV in-game item codes will be available here from Thursday 14th July. We will update the Lodestone post accordingly to make that clearer, and update when each issue becomes available for purchase through the coming months.

This campaign is such bullshit. I'm so sorry EU service account holders. DO NOT SUBSCRIBE!!! IT IS TOO LATE TO GET THE TWO ISSUES YOU NEED!!!!! You will need to wait for September's October Issue to get the butler/maid/OFC. OFC requires the selfie picture of the magazines and item codes to be emailed and the item code to be sent to you. Note: Separate campaigns offering the same in-game items are currently being planned for those residing in: France, Belgium, The Netherlands, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Italy, Spain, Australia, New Zealand and Nordic territories. Further details on these campaigns will be posted at a later date. August 2016 Issue 306 (Launching Thursday, July 14, 2016) 1 x Inferno Mask 30 x Jandelaine’s Token 1 x MGP Gold Card September 2016 Issue 307 (Launching Thursday, August 11, 2016) 1 x Crag Mask 50 x Aetheryte Ticket 99 x Deluxe Heavenscracker October 2016 Issue 308 (Launching Thursday, September 8, 2016) 1 x Butler Attire 1 x Housemaid Attire 99x Magicked Prism (Wings)

discussion Going Lalafell, distinct decline in RP?
Kage replied to Lamiaris's topic in RP Discussion
Most of my RP now is pretty stagnant and relegated to private stuff so my experience is like a year+ old. In public roleplay, most people were ok with just going with the flow of RP and speaking with Kage. Was he ever outright ignored? Nope. Did I always get substantial long-term roleplay connections? Well I still roleplay some arcs with people from 2 years ago so I'm content with that. My personal bias? I think most people who are not including Lalafell are doing so because they are looking for an RP partner and do not find that in a Lalafell. I've seen no more players who want to disrupt players in lalafell players than I have Elezen, Hyur, Roe, etc. Recently, I haven't run into many people looking to disrupt roleplayers either. Do I find some names weird? Yes. But I know they're not roleplaying and are just having fun with the game so I really don't care about a diapered lalafell or Erotic Fanfic (not a Lala!). Did I wonder once whether that would be the case with Baby Hands? I did, until there was roleplay to be had and that thought went away. Nothing else to it but the roleplay. -

Brexit sounded fucking stupid and that didn't stop them. Other consequences: Scotland might be considering a second referendum. "Dexit" Ireland is reconsidering reunification too.

Right now I'm just going to lightheartedly say "ok fuck I can't import anything from Japan now cause look at that yen to usd exchange rate"

Got a ticket by proxy. Going to be there from Oct 13 with checkout on October 16th. I plan to be quite social because I realized at the 2014 event, I was only interested in the T-Shirt Trial and the Merchandise line as well as the panels. So I'll probably wish to socialize. And by socialize, I mean eat food. Just gotta figure out which food places / buffet people will want.
