  3. During the Letter from the Producer LIVE, Yoshida and Foxclon read comments from players who sent in their favorite memory from 2015! The dev. team also joined in on the fun, and we're pleased to present their comments below! I was able to showcase the VR version of the Navel at Tokyo Game Show! We had planned to showcase this at E3, but due to complications we weren't able to do it. We were about to give up, but SCEJA helped make this happen! I would love to do this again somewhere! - FFXIV Project Manager "M" I developed Cloud's bike [for FFXIV], and Yoshi-P kept telling me "Even if we can't implement it, we'll still show it!" The fact that this still hasn't been shown off is my biggest memory of 2015. - FFXIV Character Team "A" My best moment of 2015 is when I was able to join the FFXIV development team starting in August. Until then, I was merely an FFXIV fan, and I had no knowledge of game development, but my colleagues have helped me very kindly, sometimes strictly, and I am grateful to them. Recently I was put in charge of the Starlight Celebration quest implementation, and I was very happy to see how popular it was. I would like to continue to strive harder even after the release of Patch 3.2. - FFXIV Event Team "Y" The best moment of the year was switching from being purely a player to being part of the XIV development team. From a designer-standpoint, it's natural that we think up user interfaces that are easy to use, but I really love the world of XIV, and I feel we really made a nice UI that is meant for adventuring. It may look simple, but aids the adventurers through in various ways. PS: I love reading the "What's in your Warrior of Light's bag?" hashtag on Twitter. - FFXIV UI Team "H" I joined the company at the worst time when sound editing was at its final stage for 3.0. I was a newbie who got lost inside this large company. My superior came to my desk and made a folder called "Lady of the Night" which contained 5 WAV files of the daytime field music. It normally requires about 2-3 weeks, but my superior said "I'm really sorry to do this, but can you make the night version for these 5 tracks in a week?" I was shocked with such a sudden request thinking everything was nuts. It was a crazy experience. Thanks to that experience, I'm able to work happily every day. We thank you for your support! - FFXIV Sound Team "T" I'm mainly in charge of things like controls and system-type aspects. My most memorable moment for 2015 in 3.0 is the implementation of flying mounts. With a second type of transportation for moving around it was difficult making everything consistent, but since release I've seen comments from players in-game and through social media that are happy about it, so it really made me feel that the hard work paid off. Please look forward to more features that can be used regularly such as idle camera and group pose features! - FFXIV UI Team "O" The second boss in the Aery, Gyascutus, has reinforcement bombs. These bombs suck up the poisonous gas, but if a player with the "Disease" debuff from the boss stands within the range of the bomb, it can actually remove this debuff. There is a small story behind this. The current boss uses disease, but originally this debuff was something much worse than disease, and the original plan was to have the players remove this debuff by standing in range of the bombs using this action to fight this boss. However, this was too harsh to a point where no one was able to reach Nidhogg. Therefore, this debuff was changed to disease, which can be removed with Esuna or once the debuff timer expires. Personally, I really wanted to stick with the original plan, so I secretly left in the mechanic where the bomb can remove the debuff. If you’re still going after the Lesser Panda minion, or going to challenge the Aery for the first time, please try and remove the debuff with the bomb, so I can secretly be happy. - FFXIV Monster Team "I" Running around trying to catch all of the core members during their super busy times to collect text for the members appearing in the "18th floor" area was very memorable. (Also, the first person that sent me the text was Suzuki Takeo, and the last person that sent me their text was the person who's busiest of them all...) - FFXIV Event Team "H" One of the best memories I have for 2015 is being able to complete Savage together with the players. The release of Heavensward was also very memorable to me, but being able to overcome Savage together with people I play with was amazing. Since I know who’s in charge of the content, when mechanics are really painful, I imagine that person’s face and secretly scream their name. I would like to thank everyone for everything, no matter how big or small. - FFXIV Effect Team "Y" This year we released two really large game elements: Chocobo Racing and Lord of Verminion. Outside of this, we were able to make popular improvements such as the target marker display in the enmity list as well as the TP display in the party list. This might be a small spoiler, but in Patch 3.2 we're planning to make improvements to the map markers so that if your party members are above or below you in a different elevation, you will be able to tell where they are located. We thank you for your support of FFXIV. - FFXIV UI programmer "A"
  4. 3.1 Revamps; look forward to them in 3.2
  5. Yoshida began the stream with a discussion on the state of the game, covering three main points (Alexander (Savage) difficulty/rewards, the Diadem, and Anima weapons). We've posted a message from Yoshida on these topics as well that you can read here.
  6. Imagine the lady in the movie "In a World" "An unlikely pair...One is a sassy Lalafell... One has daddy issues... Together they mostly just run around the place exasperated at all these people getting nabbed." *Insert Kage's voice* "CROFTE TOO?! WHAT THE-*!^@" -------------------------------------------------------------- A dark Highlander with a bloody past. A small Lala with a big problem. And someone entrusted these two to solve Eorzea's missing persons problem. The Twelve help Eorzea. BUDDY COPS: Missing Persons (Don't call these two) THE SEQUEL TO

  8. I AM VERY HAPPY YOU PUT THAT NUTKIN TO GOOD USE. NOW HELP ME NAME SHIT. It's come through RP that Kage has amassed a zoo of sorts of nice animal companions. It started with Shiron the chocobo whom he was left in the care of when its former owner left the chocobo as they ran away while Kage was training to become a Sultansworn. His most recent addition is a hawk preceded just before that was a warbear that he fought to submission. Mama Griffin has recently laid her eggs in the nest she's made so if anyone was a close friend of Kage's and wanted one ICly... hit me up. I considered just linking this for you as it answers your question too. https://wiki.ffxiv-roleplayers.com/pages/Kage_Kiryuu#tab=Mounts_2C_Pets_2C_Companions

  10. For the longest time, most of my RP came from the Quicksand but the Quicksand has also changed from the time I used to RP there. Still see some of the old people Kage met there but most of them are off now doing other things or not in game anymore. I also play a fairly serious character that has come to develop some things about him. I also know of at least 2 or 3 people who played 'children' lalafell who seemed to gain some type of success with it. They still are RPing or are still in guilds with RPers.
  11. When they said that the update was so small that it didn't need a read or live letter etc I was expecting it to be so lackluster it would essentially be the atma stage. I was mostly proven correct.

  14. Thanks to everyone who helped Steel out!
  15. It's a possibility, but why would a ghost with no corporeal form have drained skin color. Especially when you consider that no other ghosts in the setting follow this trend either. Edda and Louisoix both retain their natural skin tones. I THINK IT IS TIME FOR ME TO ASK THE LORE BOARD Do hyur get that pale zombie like color?
  16. I sorta just thought the ears were a Padjal thing, like the horns. And that A-Towa-Cant has the color cause well dead.
  17. We mention Elezen because of A-Towa-Cant, who looks Elezen. Look it the ears! But
  18. Welcome to the game and the RPC! Looking back to when I started even -thinking- of roleplay (not just because I was new) in FFXIV back in Jan 2014, I think it might just be a bit overwhelming to tell you something as well as having someone tell you about it. Back in Jan 2014, I had just taken about a month to play through most of the game (Leveled to 50, finished the 2.0 MSQ). I hadn't done the other stuff but that wasn't quite as important as playing the game and finding out parts of the world. The lore itself can get expansive. There are things to note. Certain Final Fantasy iconic jobs, if you've played Final Fantasy before, are seen as more restricted to play than others. You don't -have- to roleplay a job or class either. What are some specific questions you'd like answered about the world and universe? It's actually quite expansive~
  19. Starlight Celebration The winds of winter blow across Eorzea, bringing with them everyone's favorite holiday─the Starlight Celebration! As the cities don their gowns of white, adorned with decorations and warm glowing light, townsfolk anxiously await the festivities planned by the Adventurers' Guild. This year promises to be especially cheery, reviving old traditions to ring in the merrymaking. Inspired by the mood, a reporter for the Harbor Herald plans to write a special article to commemorate the occasion, and seeks the aid of an Adventurer to uncover what surprises are in store. Event Schedule From Friday, December 18, 2015 at 12:00 a.m. to Thursday, December 31, 2015 at 6:59 a.m. (PST) How to Participate A reporter for the Harbor Herald has been inquiring about this year's celebration and suspects something is amiss. Fearing the planning committee has struck a sour note in their preparations, she seeks an adventurer to set right their plans of Starlight merriment. * Please note that seasonal quests cannot be completed after the event has concluded. 20. When you ask, "is it impossible," of course the answer will be "no, it's not impossible". You are most likely asking the wrong question though. There are better questions to ask both yourself and then ask others. How widespread or accepted do you want your RP? Are you going to be happy with just a few or do you want acceptance from everyone? Do you want to pander to the masses or are you ok with the idea that you will most likely be ignored? If you are willing to just have fun, then fuck it, work in the soulstone or WoL with a group with like minds and go at it. Write it well, have fun, and get your Succor on. If you have no issues with having fun and aren't going to care about pandering to everyone, good for you. Everyone who bitches and moans about -your- RP more than just saying "Oh that person is a WHM... I will most likely end up just ignoring them for IC sake" are jealous boohoos with more concern about the RP you're getting. Fact: Lots of roleplayers are selective. They will not all roleplay with all people and with all characters. I myself am quite selective with who I will roleplay and interact with but I am -also- perfectly fine with not RPing 24/7. I don't mind that I do not cater to everyone else's desires and opinions. Will I RP with NPC rpers? Nope. Am I going to bash them? Nope. Make a comment or two and then go about my way? Most likely. Want to read what antics and shenanigans the Heavensward RPers as well as the Fortemps RPers get into? Possible... Most likely the same with White Mage RPers. If you do care that people will end up ignoring a White Mage, either due to OOC bias or because somehow their character even -knows- the differences between Conjury and White Mage Succor... then well you are most likely better off not roleplaying a White Mage. People don't like it when you head into 'special snowflake' 'WoL' or other because it puts you into more of a spotlight and less on the stage.
  21. The only things: People -do- have to look into what is expected for Ifrit and Leviathan. Both of them have DPS issues that we will all need to know to stop hitting Ifrit/Levi so to not kill ourselves.
