Some screenies! Thank you all for a wonderful time!

Welcome aboard. I think you have a head start if you're doing on your own stories. There's some people looking to make groups with the Making Connections forum where people might be looking for specific themes and your character might fit into that. Otherwise the Linkshells has FCs and non-FCs that are a good way to join in communities. In the open world in general many people congregate in the city taverns/adventurer guilds. Ul'dah is prominent one (though I'm sure you already figured that out). After listening for awhile, can't hurt to ask if an open chair at a table is free, notice someone's outfit or features, accidentally get a double order of food from the waitress and share it, etc. Not sure about Moon Keepers though, I'm asleep by then. :sleepy:

Adventures! Following up with Chachanji and Virara on a curious adventure that all started with ore. “This tin could be ta protect whatever’s underneath… or jus'ta hide it.” “A key inside?” “Well, hopefully ‘e has more clues now that we’ve figgered out th’ key some. Mebbe ‘e does have some family ‘n… they’re in a sit’ation ‘e can’t talk ‘bout openly?” Barengar has a stalker, or a cult, or something after him... luckily he seems to have a harem of ladies willing to help figure it out. Lalalala~ “Both can be done; I will write him once more, Althyk only knows how long until he appears once more. If I see Sir Armsbreaker, should I big him to come here?” “Yes, please. I’m still surprised he hasn’t been glued to your side.” Randoms! Wyra'li looking fancy Aaron and Nahare just loitering Hail the Lore Goddess! Sounsyy and I found an AFK Barengar Best dance ever by the lovely Emmette Sunset fun

Welcome! Lots of great games to RP in! I use to RP on WoW myself (mostly small group between destroying content) on Moon Guard then Wyrmrest. And LotRO! Landroval server had such lovely bard troupes and music! Like said above there's a couple LS that focus on announcing events. There are also some that focus on areas so maybe an Ul'dah one or role-specific you're looking for. I'm not going to name any in particular because it helps to get feet wet and meet people before joining in on their linkshells I've found. And there are so many weekly events to douse feet in. With that said, be sure to keep a couple drinks in him so he isn't shy and offer to do jobs for people! I love the character's starting concept!

Bacchus Shots! Yarr! This screenshot makes me think of the Pirates of the Caribbean ride - all the mist. Avery's Coma

Adventure! Ran into Franz while getting drinks and, as always, it proves fruitful. Or bubbleful in this case. “They have a nice brown ale. Slight undertone of nuts.” Then after that scene this happened... ....

August Random x_X Learning conjury with Gareth - also hearing a confession. “We have only been here one eve and you have accomplished much!” "Have I now? …I… I guess I have. I suppose I can no longer lament not being able to use aether.” “Alas, you will not longer have that. You will have to find another thing to lament.” “Heh, well there’s a long list.” Scenery Random Beach Party with Barengar & Friends (friends not pictured sorry) Someone got their Wild Rose set... Firion never looked so good. Lalalalala

Avery after a beach party. They enjoyed a miqabob and some juice, then made sure she had someone to walk her home. What a swell fella. Also I think he's the best looking midlander I've seen. Terrible GIF! Activate Fireworks Whee! Random Jancis

It's amazing! I love all these drawings. We need to put that on something.

This is last year's census link. It's skewed because it has alts/non-RPs/etc - but it might give some inspiration to making a choice. I'm sure Au Ra has changed since and I think there's a more up-to-date data out there (if memory serves) that shows miqo'te going to au ra, so you can kind of combine their percentage and get a general idea. http://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodestone/topics/detail/11dec6b5329c72e663f5f11e5ee8ff1bcf34c5ae Make a bunch of characters in the creator, save the appearance, create them on servers that aren't closed, play with the voices, play with the emotes, and pick whatever is most fun. What makes your heart sing. It's not too hard to make the character fit into lore: they were orphaned, raised by ____, travelling merchant family, refugees from [insert proper place race is commonly found], yada yada. If anything it gives the persona some flaws and maybe obstacles to overcome: finding their blood culture, returning to their homeland, stereotypes, yada yada. Long as it's not overly special and includes negative attributes it's not something that the community will be stuck 'tolerating'. My choices: Jancis - Midlander Hyur: I made the character first and I like to pick something that's very generic. I was new to the game and didn't really know the lore so starting out plain gives a lot of leeway and also (biased) I find plain characters turn out more special that ones built to be pre-special. Iglu - something Lalafell: She was made as an NPC undead villian for a specific plot. At the time I was going for flaws to really exploit to balance her 'immortality' and strength. So being short and having a temper worked out. Having a 'cute' lala (I tried to make her ugly as possible) that would ask for help then stab people in the back was fun. Plus there's a deep voice with a nice evil laugh that really immersed her nastiness. Waxing Moon - Hells Guard Roe: Making a strong character that didn't care about things and a real neutral attitude is what inspired me to the race. Very anti-Jancis. The lore and body style helped in the choice a lot. She's tall, blanch white, and loves colorful clothing. I made about 13 different models of all the races before settling on one for the base idea I wanted. Coming from the volcanoes and her racial background culture was just icing on the cake. Fun = winning the game Hope that helps!

Randoms Post Grindstone “I am not very good at jokes.” “Suppose ya aren’t.” Dancing on the beach - come back summer! Barry & Bunchan Tausen & Jancis joined in - I'm not sure how we ended up so colorful - it was meant to be!! The beauty of the Mist Meeting up with Integra - the Sun Priestess “You don’t speak much.” “Figure that’s about right.” “Few words indeed. I wonder how you two get along so well.” “It is not obvious?” “To me, no. I don’t taste your closeness poorly, but it is amusing.” Speaking to the scoundrel Deadeye "Return it to my possession and I can assure you that they will cease their pursuit of the man." I also don't use macros for significant posted text. It's pretty easy to tell when someone is using them because of the rapid fire pace they come at. Personally, it's not a bad thing but I'll tend to just skim over whatever is being said. Overall if you have to use macros (console user for example) is to practice with it beforehand and put in variation on the wait timer, or better yet, have separate macros to give it a more organic feel and also to allow for shorter and longer parts to post when you want them to. Believe the code for the wait timer after a macro is The thing I've used macros on before is more some of the complex emote chains. I did something with Jancis this month where she had to have her eyes closed for the majority of it, so I chained a bunch of Shut Eyes together. Another one was putting /joy and /welcome together to "dance" with. If there was a repeating line like suppose to be a background part where repetition adds to the mood that would also work well as a macro. Also that way there isn't as much panic on which macro to press when; I've seen plenty of them in the panic where they either got pressed twice and there's an "echo" or they're pressed out of order. (But if you press them out of order, don't bother saying anything most people won't notice). Biggest point I've found in doing events and 'performing' at them is to Post And Read. Whatever you post, read it before posting anything else. That way on average everyone else has had a chance to finish reading it themselves. So if you have to use a macro, count out how many seconds and add a few spares for each line; they won't be uniform. As far as giving it immersion I like to mix /say and /em up to give the song breaks, changes to tempo, realization that a new line has come up. /say works really well for repeating chorus, a few lines after a emote, or a line that doesn't have much to it. I like to put music notes on it personally ♪ ♪ ♪ Also if the song has great stanzas, that would highlight well in /say one after another. /emote works great on sharing the type of singing that's happening. If there's a pick up in tempo, singing louder/stronger, or playing an instrument with. Emote movements are great, but writing them out adds more and emotes are a good time to do it. If you're using /say for stanzas and the music, emotes can break up the parts into sections. But before anything test them with a friend - give them a preview. Some posts get eaten and it's better to find out than have a chunk of your performance missing, though most people won't notice anyway. These are all just ideas, do whatever is enjoyed best! Variety is the spice of life; but maybe what I do will help refine what you enjoy and improve upon it. Hope that helps!

Jancis stopped by the Chocoforge, the colorful boiler keeping the room, and the entirely of the adjoining rooms, cozy and warm. Sitting at the small table, she left the curious ingot in the cloth that was left in. She looked around for parchment, taking the first blank piece she found to leave a small note. Inside the cloth was a ingot of tin. Oddly enough, it was sloppily made for it was slightly over-sized at first glance. ============= Leaving the Hall, Jancis looked up at the sky, it was still sunny enough to travel further. She wanted to learn more about what answers Barengar might have that Deadeye was interested about. She pondered about who else she knew that had business and knowledge of the Ala Mhigan as she walked across the long stones of the Mist towards where Avery was. His nails were probably growing. Someone might be happy to trim them. Limb movement... like a coma they would have to be helped, too. Taking a deep breath, she hastened her steps. One thought at a time.

After the masquerade event the other night, got to join in with some post-RP. Very happy to RP with Diana Barlow (I like your eyepatch - biased), Emmette Stringers, and others of Obco. Jancis was included in some sad times of her friend being horribly wounded. It ruined her prize-winning dress and stayed up many hours of the night with tense arguments and whatnot. No clue how Avery survived the night. Thank you!

“No. I don’t think he ain’t interested. These two… they din’t seem like they were any more pleased with him than I am.” “A corpse having answers. So happy to have the Solioquy do take off into their own spin and wonder! I really can't say that enough. I'll sign up Jancis for a bubble dance. If it's sugar or spice yet... I'm not honestly sure. But it'll be bubbly nonetheless. -
