  1. The Haukke Manor hard mode music was sooooo cool
  2. Hello! Aldeus from the Knights of the Twelve here. We talked about cross FC activities back at launch. Now that things have settled down I thought I'd check in with you guys. How's it going?
  3. Greatest weakness? Manqo'te. That and dying
  4. That's certainly a lot to choose from! I am familiar with the desire to explore various characters, and I know sticking with the same toon can be painful sometimes, but the Knights of the Twelve is not an "alt" group. We allow alts in the group, but your main needs to be in as well. We have a very active membership, and expect new members to be active as well. Also, our recruitment is currently invite only. I know it sounds a little eliteist, but our rapid expansion over the past few months has created a degree of instability in our ranks, and getting everything settled following the game's rocky launch is priority one. You're free to submit an application on our website, but I wouldn't pin my hopes on that. Either way, thanks for your interest in the group, see you in game!
  5. I'll just cross my fingers that it's still going on Sunday night. Thanks guys.
  6. So unfortunately I'm out of town until Sunday and I was wondering when the current event ends? I shudder to think that I may not be able to prance Aldeus around in a swimsuit.
  7. We appreciate your interest in the group, but we are unfortunately no longer accepting applications
  8. You are quite right, thank you Ashren.
  9. I have a lv28 alchemist, with access to lv35 recipes, but I don't have access to dyes.
  10. Does anyone know how to access the dye recopies once they have an appropriately high level crafter? I've looked all over and can't seem to find any details on it.
  11. The only thing SE needs to do is develop server stability to the point that their customers can actually play the game. An auto-log function would be nice, but let's not put the blame on people who are just trying to get around a bad situation.
  12. If you're having trouble with gladiator, you'll have a worse time with marauder more than likely. That said, stick with it! Practice makes perfect after all. Paladin was my class of choice in FFXI as well, and naturally I thought I'd be a boss with it in ARR as well. My first dungeon run made me think otherwise. I did so badly that I thought I'd have to abandon being a paladin all together. But I stuck with it, practiced, and now can hang with the best of them. http://eorzeareborn.com/tanking-basics-communicatio/ That's a link to a sight I found helpful for learning the basics of tanking in ARR. Tanking is a very fun, very active role in a group, and if you work at it I'm sure you'll do a great job
  13. We've got a handful of sleepers returning now that the game is a thing. Welcome back!
  14. Step one to joining us is going to our website and submitting an application  It gives all the officers a chance to take a look at you. Every application needs to be approved by a majority of us to get accepted.
  15. Hello everyone! Aldeus here (duh ) to tell you that the Knights of the Twelve have recently revamped our division structure to better accommodate all our new members, and to further encourage interaction amongst the various divisions. Our Templar count is up from 3 to 5, and with one of our new Templar operating in the UK, we should have at least one officer online at all times! The specific details of our new division structure can be found in the "General Information" tab of the main post. Also, with the game's official launch coming, we will be re-opening recruitment on a limited basis. So if you've any desire to throw your hat into the ring to become our Order's newest addition, put in an application and we'll see if we can't squeeze you in somewhere. I do stress though that this recruitment is limited. Our goal as always is to make every one of our members feel at home, and we don't want to over extend ourselves by accepting too many apps. As always though, you can count on a prompt reply from myself or one of the other officers.
  16. Six liters of diet pepsi and a pineapple. Ready to go!
  17. Pride is a fool's fortress. Just come back to Balmung, we miss you all Why subject yourself to playing on the official troll server? Because of legacy players? My FC mate summed it up pretty well. He said it was like going to a bar with your friends, but leaving to drink by yourself because the regulars were there. Just my two cents. I hope you guys have fun doing whatever you do
  18. After a recent influx of Wardens, we are temporarily closing open recruitment for that division. Presently we are only openly recruiting Disciples. Stay tuned for more developments fellow do gooders, and as always, thanks to everyone who has joined up with us so far
  19. Or to put it more simply, ever heard of trolling? Like, the original variety of trolling, where a thoughtful and polite argument is made regarding something guaranteed to stir up heated contention? You can understand English and still screw up your context. By your logic, the March on Washington was trolling. The worst revolutions begin on forums. Careful now, you're talking to the next MLK here. Be respectful. Reductio ad absurdum, invalidating an argument by taking it to its logical and absurd conclusion.
  20. How can person A be held responsible for person B's ignorant, repulsive response to person A's thoughtful and polite argument? Because, and I'm not trying to be inflammatory here, common sense dictates that this is a volatile-enough subject to incite very wild reactions. Or to put it more simply, ever heard of trolling? 21. How can person A be held responsible for person B's ignorant, repulsive response to person A's thoughtful and polite argument? I'm going to go out on a limb and say the English forum moderators speak English, considering the game has a complete English version.
  22. Dear Customer, We are writing to inform you that we have suspended your access to the FINAL FANTASY XIV: A Realm Reborn Beta Tester Forum because on 08-10-2013 you breached the FINAL FANTASY XIV:A Realm Reborn Beta Tester Forum Guidelines. Thread Title: Arguments For Marriage Equality in Eorzea Relevant sections from the FINAL FANTASY XIV Guidelines: Posting aimed to create a negative impact on the community or its members. Posting that constitutes discrimination against another forum member or group (also including forming groups for the purpose of discrimination), insults, slander, libel, harassment of a group or individual. Posting spam, including meaningless characters and white space. Original Post: Recently it was announced that marriage would be a feature within Final Fantasy 14 ARR. The system as of now, is planned to be for opposite gendered couples only, with the possibility of same gendered marriages being implemented based on player feedback. I argue that waiting for this feedback is, statistically speaking, a complete waste of time. The numbers already exist to indicate that the players of the afore mentioned game approve of same sex marriage by a wide margin. Let's consider the following, using the United States, a traditionally conservative country, as a model. - Among millennials (people born after 1980), support for same sex marriage is over 70% - Among people born after 1965, support for same sex marriage is over 50% - According to the Entertainment Software Association's 2013 data, the average age of video game players is 30, with 64% of all players falling in the millennial category. These numbers alone show that a good majority of video game players (if not a substantial majority), support same sex marriage. Assuming that Final Fantasy 14 players fall within the "video game players" demographic, it's quite easy to see in advance that support among the player base would be high. Square Enix is running a business though, and I understand that. After the debacle that was the initial release of Final Fantasy 14, and all the hard work they've put in to revitalizing the game, I can understand that they don't want any niggling distractions to keep any potential players away. Fortunately, there are real world examples to show that SE shouldn't be afraid to implement same sex marriage. First, let's look at the Old Republic. Bioware has a history of offering same sex relationships in their game, and well before their game launched, they stated that they intended to continue that tradition within the Old Republic. The usual suspects came out in protest, the American Family Association, One Million Moms, ect. (people who don't play video games in any real numbers by the way), but Bioware was warmly received by the video game community. When the game launched, they had over 1 million subscribers within the first 3 days. The game ultimately took a tumble in the numbers, but that can in no way be attributed to the same sex marriage "controversy". Next let's look at Trion's game RIFT. In one of the game's post launch patches, they implemented a marriage system without gender restrictions. There was no controversy, there was no fall out, but they did set the record for most marriages in a video game in a single day when the patch went live. Historically, video game developers who have taken the bold step of supporting equality have been rewarded for their bravery by the good will of their player bases. There will always be detractors, but support for the issue among gamers has been rock solid, and support grows with every new poll. As someone who first realized he was gay thanks to your video games (Kuja you naughty thing), I humbly ask that you consider my arguments in deciding on the fate of marriage equality in Eorzea. The suspension will last a minimum of 240 hours starting 08-10-2013 23:50 (PDT) during which time you will be unable to log in to the FINAL FANTASY XIV: A Realm Reborn Beta Tester Forum. 23. Both great ideas that I heartily support. My FC has been discussing this topic at some length. A good portion of our members are part of the LGBT community (by coincidence not design), and I can say with certainty that the Knights of the Twelve stands firmly behind marriage equality in Eorzea.
  24. Being intolerant of intolerance isn't wrong, but it isn't productive either. Let's just keep reminding people why it isn't a bad idea to implement same gendered marriage in the game. I would like to reiterate the point that the people who would be offended by gay marriage in the game are people who most likely wouldn't play in the first place, but the people who would be ok with or appreciative of it are likely the kinds of young people who play video games in large numbers. The threat of "backlash" is a red herring that's tossed out all the time. Like when One Million Moms protested DC having a gay Green Lantern. No one cared because they don't buy comic books anyway. Reppu does make a good point in arguing that it's best to put in gay marriage after launch so the game isn't rated 18+ or banned anywhere, but seeing as marriage won't be implemented at launch anyway, it's kind of a fallacious argument.
