  1. A week ago Microsoft revealed that their new console would require a perpetual internet connection. There are very few topics upon which all of gamer-dom agrees, and one of them is that a constant internet connection is a load of bollocks. Microsoft knew that full well going into E3, but made the policy anyway. One of their executives even said that if gamers want to play offline, they can buy an xbox 360. Fast forward one week, and the PS4 is outselling (in pre-orders) the new xbox 2-1, and Microsoft decides to say JK about the always online feature of their new machine. They've also backed away from the feature that would prevent gamers from buying and selling used games. While this is certainly a victory for anyone who enjoys video games, it got me thinking about Final Fantasy XIV. When Square Enix released a product that tanked, they threw a tremendous amount of time and resources behind fixing that product and keeping their customers happy at all costs. They got a whole new team and rebuilt that product from the ground up, then decided to give it away for free to people who'd bought the first one. Those who stuck it out and supported the company in the interim even get a handfull of extra goodies. Now think about what would have happene if EA had been the helm of FF14. The dev team would have been whittled down to a skeleton crew in weeks, and the game would have shut down in a few months. They'd put the project in a box and never speak of it again. I know Sony isn't perfect, and neither is SE, but I have to say, recently they've been doing pretty well in my book.
  2. ^If the photographer had waited 5 seconds, the place would have exploded.
  3. "Look out behind you"? That's stupi- AAAAAAHHHGGGGG
  4. God help my processor. Also, everything sounds more intense in german. Shwarzmaiger...
  5. Took me a while to figure out how spoilers work on this site. You need to put a spoiler tag before and after the thing that... spoils?
  6. I'm ususally a stickler for lore accuracy, but I don't see any problem referring to yourself as a red mage. It's a well established class thoughout final fantasy. When it is introduced (because let's face it, it will be) they aren't going to have some crazy backstory about it like they came from the moon or something. They couldn't anyway, cuz the moon is full of dragons.
  7. What is Keith Richards' biography!
  8. Why not make a general chat tab open to all so people can see what we talk about? We'll keep profiles and what not private so people have to join up to see the good stuff!
  9. Oh if we're doing puns... Amadeus Meow, the world's smartest mi'qote!
  10. Isn't the seeker name system a first name with an apostrophe in it followed by the clan name? For example K'err Vyen would be fine.

  12. Nice find! Also, if you're looking for an anti-Bahamut guild, slaying a genocidal dragon sounds like a right knightly thing to do, and the Knights of the Twelve are a bit light on Crusaders at the moment.

    Bahamut

Cramps? Maybe he's got bad cramps and can't leave...
  14. /em is good enough for me. I don't need an animation as long as I have my imagination

    Bahamut

What could he be plotting? He's already strong enough to destroy Eorzea. If that's not his goal, I have to imagine anything else he plans would be less extreme than that.

    Bahamut

THE BLOOD OF THE GODS SHALL SPILL UPON THE BIRTH OF THEIR CREATION! DEUCES BITCHES! :cactuar:

    Bahamut

As we know, the summoning of the Twelve failed after Bahamut was freed. My question is, what the hell happened to him? Did he just chuck deuce and leave? Did he kill himself with megaflare?
  18. I just can't wrap my mind around why people wouldn't want to be on a legacy server. Anywhere you go in life there will be older, more established people. But that's a good thing. People to turn to when you really need it. If you're worried that the game will be too easy, remember, it's a brand new game. All these "experienced" people don't have a clue what's going on exactly either. Ul'dah's the same, but once you get outside the city it's like "where the f@&% am I?"
  19. I just used the template from the tutorial. I'm happy enough with it. I'll keep the offer in mind if I ever want to jazz it up though!
  20. Magellan woks full time so the forums are still a work in progress. I'm sure we'll see some excellent updates in the coming days
  21. Your page is so nice! There's not really any information in it, but the page is nice
  22. Same! I wouldn't be able to join yet. ; ; It would be something like this. 'A white mage is standing just barely out of sight however the facial features and hair color are missing. You might respond with something like this. 'You are unsure of what this means and do not wish to ponder it any longer....' I had to read this post twice before I realized it was an anime reference lol I'll make a new thread once people are more comfortable. I've never started my own open RP thread, and I think it shows. The premise of this one is a bit restrictive.
  23. If you go to the tutorial, there's a nice template to help get things going. Also, what I did was go to someone else's page that had theirs done well, and I selected "edit page" just so I could see how they'd done it. I didn't change anything. It really helped me understand what to do.
  24. Aldeus smiled faintly at the use of the word Sir. It had been some time since he'd been called such. The work he did these days usually had him refered to as "boy", "you boy", and before he'd cut his hair, "girl". "I foresee this conversation having a lot of follow up questions. Why don't you get something to eat and have a good night's sleep first. We can start fresh in the morning. I'd offer you a bath as well, but we don't have any wood to burn and the water would be cold as ice." Aldeus beckoned the woman to follow him as he turned away and headed deeper into the Hall with Lysander at his side. He kept close to the bird to share its heat. The desert turned cold after sundown, and the last rays of light were beginning to fade. He led Isielin down a maze of hallways to a private room in the barracks. Inside was a bed, a few of his personal effects laid on a desk, and splintering dresser. With only starlight and memory to guide him he made his way to the only candle in the room and struck a match to light it. "Make yourself at home. I'll get you something to eat." ((Feel free to show up anyone who's interested in joining in!))
