Blood on the Sands Episodic rp event (Rules for Event 2 in first post)
Tiergan replied to Askier's topic in Chronicled Events
Warren's shiny Novus makes me weep with envy. Curse you atma! ::Shakes fist at sky:: -
The main thing I remember was from the old "Eorzean Lore and Facts" thread that compiled a lot of 1.0 info. Blackroot Rose Syndrome: The leaves of the Blackroot Rose, when consumed, cause nightmarish visions and induce extreme fits of violence. Not exactly a drug you'd want to use for yourself, but I'd bet criminals would find lots of creative use for those leaves.

She will also give you the 'Face' if you disappoint her sometimes. It's terrifying.

Tiergan's Thread of Shameless Self-Promotion [No Commissions. Apologies.]
Tiergan replied to Tiergan's topic in Artisan House
Aysun! I may possibly be opening up commissions again in the next week or two. It all depends on certain real life factors. If I do however, I'll probably only be taking one or two commissions per week. I'll update this thread when I'm ready. :> -
Holy crap. You've been using a mouse? Good lord, trying to do lineart with a mouse requires a heck of a lot of patience. You've had some pretty dang spiffy results so far without a tablet. If you reaaaaaally, really want to keep up with digital painting or just any sort of digital art in the long term - I would strongly, strongly suggest saving up for a drawing tablet. All the tutorials I know kind of go by the assumption that you have a drawing tablet with pressure sensitivity and it'll speed up your process by an ungodly amount. The "Intuos Pen & Touch" is just $99. It's the cheapest wacom tablet available and it has enough pressure sensitivity to make you toss your mouse out a window. Put away $20 bucks or so a month somewhere and in five months, you'll have enough money to get a tablet for yourself. Or if you're on a painfully strict budget (we've all been there), but you still see yourself plunking away at the digital art 2 years from now, just tuck away $5-10 a month. It'll be worth it.

Possibly! It depends on what sort of thing you're looking to figure out.

It works by the heroes being too horrified by the zombies trying to be sexy to attack properly. :B -

I'm sorryyyy! ;_; I'll open it back up again eventually. Just have to sort out a lot of real life shenanigans. -
Yune, I think it's less animosity towards couples that RP their characters being together - (because let's face it, it makes sense and tons of couples do it.) - and more that it's pretty neat when a RL couple can choose to have their RP characters pair off with different people without folks getting all weird over the idea that a man or woman would want to RP romance with someone other than their real life SO.
-
I find that it's best to just straight up tell people "So this is purely IC and will never, ever be OOC. The second it bleeds into OOC is the second we stop RPing with each other." when starting anything remotely resembling an IC romance with someone.
-
I wouldn't say it's faking. Comic artists (at least in the US) work several times larger than print size and the art gets reduced before going to press. You'd essentially be doing the same thing. The other benefit to working bigger is that you have more pixels to work with, so visually your lines wind up looking smoother. Especially when you taper lines off, larger resolution means they'll look less clunky. Can't hurt to try, yeah? It might feel weird at first, but keeping your 'zoom' out at 25-50% or whatever feels like your usual screenshot-size on your screen could help.
-
What resolution do you work at when you're doing lineart? If you work super big and then shrink down after when you save for the web, you can wind up with crisper, snazzier lines. (It's how I hide all of my mistakes :V )

I pretty much put myself squarely in the No-RP-Romance camp because things have rapidly gotten weird between other players and myself even without Tiergan expressing any interest in other people. If I find someone who doesn't frame all of their RP around romance, doesn't mix IC/OOC, AND views the romance purely from a narrative, character-development perspective -- MAYBE I'll go for it. But until then? No thanks. There are far, far too many people trying to live vicariously through their RP romances for me to be comfortable with. I have no interest in RP Romance being the driving goal of my roleplay experience and to be blunt - I'm not hugely interested in RPing with other people whose main goal is to find RP romance and a 'partner'. If that's how other folks find enjoyment, more power to them, but their RP preferences and my own will likely never align. I second what others have said in regards to your own comfort in this situation: if ANY RP is making you uncomfortable, whether it pertains to romance or not, you are well within your rights to pull the breaks and OOCly communicate with the other person saying ((Hey, I'm sorry, but this RP makes me feel a little uncomfortable and I would like to divert the RP in another direction.)). If someone gives you shit for that, that's their problem - not yours. Just like it's someone else's problem that they haven't been able to get an RP partner since launch - you have nothing to feel guilty over and have every right to enjoy your RP the way you would like to enjoy it.

If you have to many heroes at this point, I can always grab one of my bajillion alts (I-I don't have altitis! I can quit at any time!) and be a bad guy for a while. -
Agreed. This is generally the more polite thing to do. I'm all for people having a strict adherence to the lore if it makes them happy, but if you see another RPer roleplaying in a way that doesn't suit you - it's just polite to bow out of the RP than to spend time harassing them IC and OOC over it.

Oh my god this looks hilarious. Can people watch? <_<;a

What irks me more is that they claimed the Quicksand wasn't a tavern when it has been a tavern since 1.0. And if we want more 2.0 evidence, when you first meet Momodi, she says to you: "Name's Momodi, and I own this fine establishment, if it please you. I also manage the Adventurers' Guild here in Ul'dah." If the Quicksand is synonymous with the Adventurers' Guild, it wouldn't make much sense why she would have to clarify that she's also running the AG. And if anyone argues that she was trying to reference the Hourglass as 'this fine establishment' - the quest that sends you to met her, specifically sends you to the Quicksand and makes no mention of the inn.
-
1) OP - Can you PM me the names of those two RPers? I would like to blacklist them instantaneously. Particularly since I have a strong feeling the L-named player is someone I've heard about before. I've little to no interest in RPing with douche-canoes. 2) For all their crowing about how the game makes it 'clear' the Quicksand is only for adventurers, they completely forget that when you first sign up at the Quicksand with Momodi, one of the things we see is a gambler who is very, very down on his luck getting a shakedown by a fancy lalafell and his bodyguards. Based upon the way he dressed and acted, I'd be REALLY hard-pressed to say he was an adventurer. Then there's some of the quests you get in the Quicksand, by people who appear to be customers who aren't adventurers based upon the quest text and the way they're dressed: Botulf (no weapons, dressed in crafting gear and talks about how hard it is to be a merchant in Ul'dah), and Kekezani (also no weapons or adventuring gear. Likely works at the Uldah Dispatch yard.

At first I thought it was just some guy rolling up a Mr Face, but then I looked at the lodestone. I think he actually *did* move to Balmung. O_O Also: [video=youtube]

City-wide RP plots (split from Limsa Lominsa RP Connections)

This is like watching a train-wreck in slow motion. Guys. This is a video game where we are playing make-believe with each other with virtual dolls. There's no need for all of the hostility being thrown about on the forums and everything is just snowballing into a giant firestorm of negative feelings. Let's all take a deep breath and step back from the forums a bit, eh? -

I really enjoyed myself. I was just worried about how folks were doing with how things unfurled. If all the 'collared' people are actually okay and still having fun, then all is groovy from my personal standpoint. Also, I have to admit, I felt a lot of tension while reading this thread. I think all of us not directly managing the event should keep in mind that big, large-scale server events like this are EXTREMELY difficult to pull off without problems. It's like herding around 40 cats. (Sometimes literally with the miqo'te population :V) The greater the number of people involved, the greater the chance of issues propping up. A little patience and understanding when discussing our problems with each other or when agreeing/disagreeing with other folks in the thread gives the event-runners a chance to sort things out and improve things for the better if any actual issues exist. Edit: I also think there's nothing wrong with non-event-managing folks expressing concerns. Like I said, I was mostly worried that there might be collared folks feeling stuck when I piped up. It makes me feel much better about participating knowing that it's not actually a problem. I didn't want to keep having fun knowing it was possibly at someone else's expense and I wouldn't really have had that cleared up for me if it wasn't brought up. That said, I do wish everyone would address things with each other in a bit of a calmer fashion. This event is pretty huge in scale, and naturally has effected lots of folks, but this is still a game we're playing for fun - I'm sure we can all talk about this stuff without getting a little harsh with each other. -

I think that's the main thing that has rattled me about all of this. Before joining this event, a friend and I were talking about which side to join and we were strongly considering joining the 'villain' side as people with collars on just to balance out the ratio of Villains VS Heroes. Later, I was told both sides were pretty balanced and that's what made me decide to just stick with the 'good guys'. However, if I hadn't done that and went with the Villains simply to help balance the numbers only to find myself in a position where my character is suddenly seen as a huge, selfish asshole by the community at large for not opting to just kill himself with the explosive collar - I would be pretty devastated OOC. This event is fun, but if any collar'd folks feel sort of blindsided by what's happened so far, I'm hoping that we can brainstorm and help them find a way to still make this enjoyable for them as players.
