Brainstorm for Episodic rp event ((Poll up for getting best of the week))
Tiergan replied to Askier's topic in RP Discussion
I am back from my vacation! How do I get in on the story awesomeness? -
I second LastCandle's recommendation of rolling up some lowbie alts on both and running about. It's sort of hard of any of us to say what the RP is like one each server as all of us are in one or the other and will tell you how spiffin' our respective servers are. Welcome to the RP community either way!
-
You're absolutely welcome to RP with any of our members. The vast majority of them welcome random RP. We're also strongly considering concocting some future cross-FC RP shenanigans. (::STEEPLES FINGERS: As for anything involving the FC storyline itself however, that is only for our FC members at this time.

Hello everyone! I'm back from my vacation. If you sent me a PM in regards to a commission and I haven't responded to it yet, please feel free to PM me again. I have also updated the main post of this thread with an FAQ AND new prices for Waist-Up and Full Body commissions as some have requested. -
I am un-vacationified! o/

I think the closest I have had to what you describe is when I encounter real life scenarios and the 'Tiergan' part of my brain unhelpfully pipes up with a totally illogical suggestion because I have been in his head too much. Like "This room is leaves us too exposed. Stand with your back towards a wall to prevent getting attacked from behind and make note of all exits. Also, we can use the chair as weapons in absence of a sword." Yes, Tiergan-brain, I am sure this will be plenty useful at Ihop.

Some people prefer the aesthetics or the lore of certain cities, others are simply bound to certain cities because their character backgrounds tie them to a particular city. For me, it's the latter. The majority of Tiergan's life is tied to Ul'dah, so he spends much of his time there. If given some good reasons to travel out to Gridania, he will, but otherwise he thinks about that city about as often as you think about as often as you think about visiting another state/province/country. I have to second what many people have said in that if you want more RP hotspots or for more plots to happen there, just get in there and forge them yourself. I have RPed plenty of times in Gridania's adventurer's guild with friends and it was never very long before other Rpers arrived. I have also run two different public events in Gridania and in the Shroud. People will swing by if given a reason, and only people who really are interested in fostering RP elsewhere can provide that reason. If you build it, they will come.

It doesn't have to be FF14 characters. It can be a portrait of any character you like. o/ Also - Xieveral asked if folks could pay for $15 for the sketch first and then pay $30 later to upgrade to the color version from the sketch. I am down for this. (Especially if you don't think its a huge deal to have the clean black lines and are okay with sketchy lines) I normally make a sketch before I jump into colors. -

Hey guys! I am going to go on a week-long vacation to the pristine lands of Canada this Saturday. If you'd like a commission, feel free to send me your details in a PM while I am away. I just obviously won't be able to get to it until after July 5th due to getting hammered and various hijinks I hope to engage in while up there. A few people have expressed worry on whether or not I am open or closed or how many slots I have left. I'll probably never close this thread unless a buttload of projects and deadlines come crashing down at me all at once in a very, VERY abrupt fashion, leaving me curled and rocking back and forth in a fetal position. Until then, you don't have to fear being too late to get your character info in. o/ -

What TheLastCandle said. There aren't too many monsters that will cause insane amounts of trouble if they don't die first - it's just more efficient to have both your DPS attacking the same thing instead of the two of them whittling down two different targets. If it's an AOE extravaganza or we're all so geared that everything's melting before us - marking doesn't really matter as much.
-
I always mark targets as a tank unless I'm feeling spectacularly lazy or I'm speedrunning with two black mages and a white mage that are going to blow everything to smithereens with mass-AoE/Holy spamming. I tend to flip back and forth between all the mobs as I tank to make sure I keep hate up on all of them, so it can sometimes be difficult for the DPS to determine which one I want to kill in what order unless I mark'em up. As for gremlins - I kill them first because the little bastards deserve it for callin' me an idiot. >:C
-
THIS. Honestly, I'll sometimes even give a commendation if someone just bothered to warn the rest of the group that they're new to the instance. It can save so much time and headaches.

Derp! I meant to say "I will ask for payment when I'm ready to do my thing." I try not to ask for money until I'm ready to work. This is why I shouldn't post things before morning coffee. -

Next week I'll be going on a week-long vacation. However, you can still definitely send me a PM at any time and we can talk about what you'd like your commission to look like. I ask for payment when I'm ready to do my thing. o/ -

Alas, NA recruitment is now temporarily closed. (Unless you play during EU prime times.) Thanks for your interest! o/

This has come up amongst my FC, because of a bit of trolling that happened a few days ago. My answer to trolling has always been one of two responses: 1) Joke and laugh it off. Kill the troll with kindness. Most trolls, if they're not just goofing off and trying to get some laughs, are trying to get a rise out of you and piss you off. This is why ignoring doesn't always work because somewhere in their minds, they're either imagining you stewing angrily in your computer chair or are holding out to see how long it takes for you to break. It's also why getting angry, telling them you're going to report them, or slipping in any kind of insult is like tossing blood in shark-infested waters. They want to get you mad, and you are giving them the attention they're craving. By laughing it off and joking around with them, or engaging in funny 'mock RP' like LastCandle mentioned, you give them the opposite of what they're looking for. If on top of that, you stay as friendly and kind as possible while dealing with them, some trolls will actually start to feel a little bad about trolling you because you'll seem like a pretty cool person who isn't getting their panties in a twist over a few pelvic thrust emotes. It's just like how Kendha'to wound up with his new lalafell buddy - trolls are people too. If you respond to their vinegar with sugar, they might laugh and decide you're pretty neat. Besides - laughing at your problem is probably much healthier than stewing angrily over it, yeah? 2) If you can't joke/laugh it off - ignore them. Just like everyone says, ignore'em, blacklist'em, do what you need to do to get them out of your mind. Just don't rise to their bait or try to be the internet tough guy. You'll get them to just redouble their efforts.

I was trying to sort this out, not for my own characters, but for an NPC. The NPC vanished during the Calamity and I was wondering if the NPC could have been a Warrior of Light even if his family members still recalled who he was for a future plot. Most of the answers seeeem to be veering more towards 'no'.

Welcome back! o/ And yes, always remember to have to take care of yourself too when it comes to making and running events. You're supposed to be having fun too after all!
