My characters are Ul'dahn, but I've personally never noticed that most of the community only seems to RP in one city. I've always just RPed my characters in cities, towns, housing wards, or anywhere that made sense at the time. That said - I've also am not really into tavern/pub-RP, so maybe that's why I'm oblivious to it. <_<;a I prefer events as a way of meeting new people and making friends. Bar-conversations tend to feel really forced for me and some of the characters I like to roll up.

It honestly depends on my workload. These are the fastest way for me to get enough gil for my FC's housing fund, but it also soaks into time spent doing actual work sometimes. Part of the reason why I only opened up 5 slots was because I had no idea if part of the way through I would flip my desk from stress and go 'AUGHGHG, I CAN'T PAINT THESE WHEN I HAVE TO DO MORE IMPORTANT THINGS!"

Glad to hear you're sticking around. If you want Warrior tanking advice, I know a couple of warriors you could chat with on how the class works. If you ever get curious about trying out paladin again though, I can give you tips learned through months of ...chasing down all the good paladin players I know and forcing them to teach me everything. <_<;a

Hey Steel Wolf! I haven't gotten to RP with you personally, but I heard good things. If the endgame is what's making you feel frustrated because you feel like you're blocked off by your ilevel, here's my two-cents: I got Lurial from i56 to i71 in roughly a week just by running CT and doing 'low level / main scenario roulette' to get the philosophy tomes needed to get Darklight gear and some bits of i80 stuff from Crystal Tower. The gear-score wall isn't as insurmountable as you might think when you're a tank or a healer, because we have extremely short wait times for almost everything. If you've limited time to play the game because of work, just try to squeeze in at least one low-level roulette and main scenario roulette every day before bed. CT is also really, really darn easy for tanks - ESPECIALLY if you are not the main tank. Then it is the most cake-walkiest of cakewalks ever to walk cake. If you haven't gotten your relic weapon yet, the other-other good news is that most of the Primal Hard Mode fights (except Garuda if you're not 100% sure about positioning) are pretty easy for tanks. For Ifrit and Titan - you don't even have to really move all that much as the main tank. You just get hate, move juust enough to avoid standing in bad things, and let the other 7 poor sods do all the work. Garuda on the other hand is involves much more actually running around and such, but once you know what to look for, it's not too bad. :> If you ever think about heading back to play the game, hit me up. I can be your pocket healer as Lurial while talking through fights from a tanking perspective because Tiergan, my main, is a paladin. o/

I've seen all of these ideas implemented in various different LSes and FCs already. With enough creativity and careful thought, you can get virtually any of those ideas to be plausible. Personally, (and this is not a slam on anyone who prefers them) audio-only linkshells tend to leave me feeling like I'm missing a core part of my RP experience even if they are more authentic to the lore. I like writing descriptive emotes, so only transmitting 'dialogue' makes me a sad panda. Different strokes for different folks though.

If you consider yourself a stickler for the lore, then you sort of have to take the Lightning/Shantotto events as they are and consider dimension-hopping canon. Otherwise you're just picking and choosing what you like and don't like. As for the rarity of male miqo'te - I tend to go with everyone else in the "Calamity forced all the male miqo' out of hiding" option, but it also isn't something I think about too often because I feel like it was just a lack of forethought on SE's part. I mean, the lore also states that miqo'te as a whole are supposed to be sort of 'few in number' in Eorzea, but it definitely doesn't feel that way most of the time. <_<;a

Non-Healer RPers showing up as the injured can make up anything from a minor cold, troubling mental affliction, a sword jammed in their side, or even a voidsent-version of athlete's foot and instantly have a reason to RP with others! Folks who just want to watch/assist can show up and get their RP on randomly in any way they prefer. Are healers going to be limited to classes who can actually heal? Nope! We're all creative individuals, I'm sure plenty of people can come up with different ways their non-healing-class character can heal other people. Alchemists are an obvious example of folks who could easily double as traditional doctor figures. Botanists who have spent a lot of time with nature and know all sorts of natural remedies could also be considered healers! A thaumaturge might use a mix of their black magic and other devices to help heal others in a peculiar way. Or heck, maybe your character is a culinarian so legendary they can heal with the power of food! Whatever the case may be, a good imagination can make almost any character a healer, so this will not be limited by class. I want to show up as a healer! Anything I should know? When you get an RP patient, it is generally a good idea to ask them OOC how they might want things to go before your character patches them up: Do they want a quickie? ("Woo! I fixed it!") A long-term malady? ("I'm sorry, my friend. This may take several months to mend...") A cure-by-quest? ("You can be healed, but the process will be long, and you will have to travel far!") Does the person want the character to be able to be healed at all? ("I am sorry. I've tried everything I know. This is far beyond my ability...") This will help ensure that your character doesn't just patch up someone's terrible, lifelong, character-defining curse with just a single firing of a cure spell. Speaking of cure spells, everyone knows that just spamming Physick and the like over a character and calling it a day is quite possibly the most boring way to RP healing someone. So work that creative brain of yours and try to go with really crazy, over-the-top, or complex and elaborate remedies. For example, if an RPer comes along with a wound afflicted by a voidsent that's corrupting their body - you COULD just RP out casting Esuna followed by Cure and then call it a day. OR you could RP out your character carefully sprinkling a pouch of conjury-enhancing ingredients around the player before going through the dangerous process of slowly drawing out the tainted energies and sealing them away in a small crystal orb that the patient must then bury deep within the earth in a sacred place to be purified over the next three moons before their injury will truly heal in full! I want to show up as a patient! Anything I should know? You can be have any affliction you like! Just be sure to let whatever healer you're paired off with know what you're sort of hoping for OOC (especially if your affliction is sort of a major, serious one that you don't think could easily be patched up) or if the healer is free to do anything they want! I do, but I recently slapped my real name on it as a way of 'getting my name out there' better in the industry and all I really did was make it so that it's really hard for me to share it around on gaming websites because... it has my real name slapped on there.

Have been really bummed out by recent events lately and painted up Tiergan from his younger (and cockier/asshole-ish) years out on the bloodsands to cheer myself up a bit.

Aside from the Garuda and Titan fights which are TOTALLY awesome - I also love the song for a certain major boss fight that you fight at the end of the Praetorium [DON'T CLICK IF YOU HAVEN'T GOTTEN THAT FAR. IT'S A SPOILER!]: Also, the beginning of the Pharos Sirius dungeon is gorgeous and makes me really sad that it doesn't just keep playing throughout the entire instance.
