I'm a huge fan of intense, dramatic, in-depth RP with a decent-sized group of people. I've tried out different FCs and LSes, all of which were filled with really fantastic, kind, creative people - but I still haven't had much luck. (This wasn't a failing on their part mind you - they were/are all great groups and in a lot of cases were just very specialised towards a certain type of RP.) I made my own linkshell to try and foster the sort of stories and RP I enjoy most. However, I realised that it's probably better to just make a post here on the forums, see if there's anyone else out there who's hankering for some deep, intense, (sometimes) serious RP, and collaborate with them right from the get go. If you're interested - hit me up! We can later gather up, see if we're of the same mind on things, and then brainstorm a rich, sprawling, crazy plot that we can all participate together in for a long. If it works out - awesome! If it doesn't - no harm, no foul. At least we gave it a go and it might at least lead to some nice RP connections for other kinds of RP in the future. Good lordy. I *love* your linework! I also like how your character looks sort of... gruff and tough around the edges instead of the kind of clean, J-Pop-Singer look that the miqo'te males have in game. Looking forward to more!

I'm also up for forging some new RP connections. One of the big FCs I started with in FFXIV sort of went sideways on me and fell apart. Since then, I've made plenty of friends, but have a really hard time establishing some really meaningful character connections, which is a bummer. Hit me up with a PM - we can brainstorm a bit and see if our characters mesh at all. Both of my characters have wikis you can peek at in my signature if you want to learn a bit about them beforehand.

That second drawing gave me some serious FFTactics nostalgia. I loved that game so much. ;_;

Neat idea! Lurial Vashir (Information Broker) Miqo'te Female, Age 27 Services Offered: Will trade or sell information or solid leads on a variety of subjects. Has an expansive network of connections and library of research to refer to for knowledge. [Players can essentially use Lurial as an RP plot device for events or RP story arcs. She will know only what you would like her to know about your character and you can dictate exactly when/where/how she uses that information. Lurial must maintain an air of neutrality for her work and will provide information to less scrupulous or 'villainous' characters - though there are certain pieces of information she will refuse to provide.]

I'm not part of Unsung Heroes, so I can't be 100% sure, but I believe their guild actually has a theater club/group of some kind. Maybe you could poke one of their members? I vaguely remember Claire Fialo talking to me about it.

I. Basic Info Characters: Tiergan Vashir, Lurial Vashir, Leilani Leilai, Furious Storm Primary character: Tiergan Vashir Linkshells: Aeon, Immortal Flames, Grindstone Primary RP linkshell: Aeon II. RP Style Amount of RP (light, medium, heavy): Medium to Heavy. I am in-character when I am not grinding or in party tackling PvE content. Views on RP combat and injuries: I like RP combat so long as the other player isn't magically invincible and manages to dodge every strike coming his or her way. I am okay with freeform combat, rolling using dice, deciding on the outcome of a fight beforehand OOC, or pretty much any other way of determining outcomes if it makes the other player comfortable. I don't mind my character getting injured during combat so long as they're not getting horribly maimed in a way that's permanent. If you want my characters to get injured in a specific way, I'd like to be asked permission first. Views on IC romance: Not really looking for it at this time. I like all the tension and interest leading up to a romance more than the actual romance itself because it makes for a good story full of tension and story-conflict. An ideal IC romance for my characters would be a situation where the characters are attracted to each other, but 'something' prevents them from truly ever becoming involved with one another - fueling tensions. My main interest in regards to romance is character development and story progression. If an actual romance were to occur, I would prefer that it develops naturally. I dislike IC romance for the sake of romance and am strongly opposed to planning out romances OOC like a script. Views on non-romantic RP (family ties, etc): I welcome any character connections people would like to forge with my own. If you want to forge a blood-relation to my character however, I would want to RP with you a bit and get to know you as a player first. Views on lore: I'm down with unique groups, places, items, and set-ups so long as they don't directly conflict with established game lore. I think FFXIV provides a lot of flexibility to do your own thing and perhaps bend (but not break) the lore a little bit - provided you do it with finesse and with the intent on creating a good story for everyone, not just yourself. Views on chat functions (/say, /linkshell, etc): Say, Linkshell, Shout (except when Fate Grinding), Yell, and sometimes Whisper are all IC for me. Party is generally not IC for me unless it is explained to me beforehand. If someone whispers me in-game and they are obviously talking to me OOC - I will adapt to what they're more comfortable with. Thanks for the heads up! That is definitely something useful to know. The Wiki and I are going to become even better friends then I anticipated.

Just remember to have fun and be open-minded/flexible if others gently warn you that you've slipped up in regards to the main RP no-no's or the lore of the game. You've already shown pretty clearly in these forum posts alone that you can type without using a mess of net-speak and wonky punctuation - that alone will get you surprisingly far. I would think that even the most 'elitist' RPer would be willing to be patient and help guide you along if they also profess to want to be helpful and open to newbie RPers - especially one as dedicated about 'getting it right' as you.

Wow, I have to say that I'm really impressed by how far you went to prepare for all of this! Though don't be too nervous. I like to think most RPers will be very patient once you let them know this is your first time trying to RP in an MMO and will gently help you out if you make any slip ups. Plus, if you're the type that sort of enjoys writing at all, you'll probably take to RPing very naturally. Welcome aboard!

One of my characters, Lurial, is an information broker. However, as opposed to using Lurial's occupation as an excuse to miraculously know everyone's deepest darkest secrets (which would essentially be metagaming anyhow) - I would like to use it more as a tool to help facilitate RP between different characters. If you're interested in sharing, feel free to hit me up with a PM on: What you would like Lurial would know about your character. Most importantly, how you would like me to use or present that information IC. Should she share it only with a particular group of people? Can the knowledge only be traded/bartered after certain conditions are met first? Can she give it away freely to anyone with the coin to buy it? Do you want her around at a specific event to mysteriously drop hints and then speak no more with a smile on her face? How she gets the information and how she uses it is all dictated by you. This way, the information is used in a way you feel would provide the maximum benefit your RP.

Update: We noticed that a large FC called "The Clandestine" began recruiting on the website today. Because they have an 2.5 year old community established from RIFT and we are a very small LS that does not use our LS name in our story, we've decided it was easier to rename ourselves "Runebound" in order to avoid any future confusion.

I've heard very good things about you all from a friend. Is it possible to only join the LS, but not be part of the FC? Or do I have to be in both? I'm in another FC at the moment.

I'm interested in this LS, but would I be required to join the FC? I'm currently in one at the moment and would have to think things over some more if I had to leave it to join SR.

I'm interested in this group. However, is it a strict requirement for me to join the FC? I'm currently in a PvE oriented one at the moment and if I would have to leave it to join this LS, I'd have to give things some more thought.
