1. I'm in the same boat as most other folks in that I primarily RP out the ears and tails to show emotion. He DOES secretly like getting his hair stroked or pet, but that's because scalp massages FEEL AMAZING. He does, in extremely rare circumstances, let out a low, rumbling noise when he's completely relaxed and content - but for the most part Tier is more feral-cat-like as opposed to cutesy-neko. Lurial's the same way except I don't RP out as many of the cat-like qualities due to her keeping a more professional demeanor.
2. I think it was less a ._. at you specifically and more a ._. at the specific topic. From what I've gathered, the White Mage lore is a sore spot for Seriphyn Liadan because of it's Super Snowflake Status. I'm just glad both Paladin (and arguably Scholar) are both free from Special Snowflake lore problems.
3. Doh! I'll keep that in mind. I'm starting to notice several people saying "I would, but not if it was Saturdaaaay. ;_;"
4. Oh definitely! Leilani The Great encourages an audience. I'm sorry if that wasn't clear. I should probably put that in bold so people don't think they can't come along unless there is a story to tell. However, don't fret about your English being your second language! Telling a story might be an excellent way to practice and I'm positive everyone will be very patient with you or Leilani will shank them in their sleep.
5. [[A new parchment has appeared beneath the Storytelling Circle Poster]] "I, Leilani Leilai, have realised that I ought to submit a sample of some of my work to encourage th'masses. Thus, here is a small excerpt of one of my latest songs The Wulf and the Coeurls, the 100% true story of how Miss Brynhilde Wulf faced off against terrifying foes!" Lady Brynhilde moved like the wind, fearless before her foes! She struck down her enemies, that were larger then roes! Half-man, Half-coeurl, they each fell before her might! But alas - she was injured at the end of her fight! That's when Lady Oak came in swift as the breeze! She summoned Ancient Roe power and saved Brynhilde with ease! Out came the spear-tip, lodged in Brynhilde's side! And e'er since has love grown, burnin' brightly inside~. Next, I'll post up the 100% true story of the Legend of Striding Oak. [[The words appear to be scribbled out]] Miss Oak has asked me not to post up the story on account of how everyone probably knows th'tale by now and I needn't share it again. Just don't be shy~! Come share a story with me!"
6. Leilani thanks you for your bravery kindness in being willing to share a tale with her!
7. Nooooo :CCC If this one works out, I'll make sure the next one is not on a Saturday for you. ;_;
8. A cluster of hastily scrawled posters have been tacked up on the walls of every major tavern and pub in Gridania, Limsa Lominsa, and Ul'dah. It states the following: Have you a breathtaking story of greatness an' heroism? Or perhaps a tale of betrayal, mystery, and intrigue? Have you ever wanted to share your fantastic recountings of epic adventures ...while helping a young bard achieve her greatest dreams at the same time?! WELL NOW'S YOUR CHANCE!! I, Bard Leilani Leilai, invite YOU to my very first Storytelling Circle at Gridania's Mih Khetto's Amphitheatre!! It is my goal t'be the bestest bard there ever was, but all th'older bards have a leg up on me on account of bein' older and stuff, and knowing more stories. So that's where you come in! Tell me your stories and I'll have your greatness RECORDED IN THE ANNALS OF HISTORY THROUGH SONG. The first eight volunteers t'give me their names will be able to tell me their stories and afterwards, I'll work my magic and them all into th'most beautiful of lyrics. You'll be able to hear your tales crooned by bards and people in all th'taverns an' bars of Eorzea as they catch on like wildfire! Visitors are more than welcome to come and are encouraged t'listen to the stories being told in the spirit of bard-dom! Hope to see folks there soon! May th'Twelve watch your back! -- Bard Leilani Leilai OOC Information Where: Mih Khetto's Amphitheatre -- Old Gridania When: Saturday, January 25 2PM PST 5PM EST 10PM GMT What The Heck Is Going On?: Bard Leilani Leilai is looking for 8 awesome people to volunteer as storytellers. Afterwards, Leilani will take the story told to her, turn it into a song, and send it to the original storyteller. True, false, it matters not. You can tell any tale you like and Leilani will make it into a song for you - or at least provide you with a brief snippet of the full song. People are free to come to the Amphitheatre to listen to the stories as an audience. However, I am keeping the maximum number of storytellers at 8 to prevent the event from dragging on for a very long time. If enough people end up wanting to be storytellers, Leilani will host more Storytelling Circles after this one. (After all, she needs more songs to be th'BESTEST BARD THERE EVER WAS!) I want to volunteeeeer! What should I do?: Make sure to prepare your story beforehand! That way you can enjoy hearing the stories of others instead of ignoring them as you hastily try to think yours up on the fly. Try to keep the story reasonably short! While we all love reading, the massive Homeric epics should probably be saved for the forums so that the event doesn't start to drag on for three hours. (It's happened before at another event.) Your story can be about anything! It can be something your character heard at a bar. It can be a creative fiction they wrote themselves. It can be something that happened to your character. It can be something that happened to another character. It can be totally made up things that happened to another character's imaginary wife's steel-plated Allagan Space Primal! Just remember to have fun! If 8 people have already volunteered by the time you do, you'll be added to the list for the next Storytelling Circle. Volunteers So Far 1) Xydane Vale 2) C'rhisi Tohbei 3) Ghalleon Helseth 4) Claire Fialo
9. I am in the "Don't argue with them, it makes them stay longer." and the "Ignore them or kill them with kindness/jokes/cute emotes." camp. Usually when the griefers realise that you're not as bothered by them as they want you to be, they leave you alone. The others will actually start feeling bad about harassing you if you're nice enough. The fastest way to make a griefer stick is by arguing with them or trying to shame them for trolling you. As Bryn said, the second you complain, they won. They want the negative backlash from you.
10. Hello folks, Without giving away too many details, I'm looking for some RPers willing to have their characters enthralled by an external villainous force. While enthralled, you will still have 100% control over the actions of your characters (I won't be hovering over your shoulder telling you what you can/can't do as an action). Additionally, if you need to participate in other kinds of RP that you're interested in at the time (Grindstone Tournaments, Guild RP Events, other RP Plots you're engaged in) your character will be able to temporarily/permanently break out of enthrallment through strength of will at any time so that you have 100% control over when and where your character is enthralled and it is the most fun for you. If this sounds interesting to you, please PM me and I'll provide more information!
11. (( Wow! I'm surprised you actually went back to bold the important bits again! Awesome job, my friend. This is an extremely useful resource for Ul'dahn RPers. :] ))
12. As a HUGE nerd for Mass Effect with Garrus Vakarian as my favorite character - I didn't even really register what the problem with your name was until you pointed out you got the name from Mass Effect. If you'd named yourself Garrus Vakarian or claimed that your character was actually Garrus Vakarian transported into an Elezen body through wibbly-wobbly space magic, THEN I think people would be worried. The name Garrus Calinth itself though, is perfectly fine to me.
13. This is awesome! The only thing I would suggest is maybe bolding certain words when something comes up for the first time - like mention of certain locations. It'll make it easier for people to jump back to points of interest in your writings if they come back to it in the future to read up again.
14. Newest painting! After this, I'm probably going to draw a whole mess of really awful fanart just to get the urge out of my system before doing more paintings. Close Up:
15. Thank you for all your amazing efforts! Though there have undoubtedly been many bumps in the road, this website has helped so much in helping me find RP in FFXIV and I'm sure many others would say the same.
16. Information Broker Lurial Vashir of Ul'dah is on the prowl for prominent members of the Immortal Flames to exchange information regarding a variety of subjects. If your character is a prominent member of the Immortal Flames and you're up for her finding you, please hit me up! I'll try my best to hunt you down in game.
17. I just assumed hyur and miqo'te had similar lifespans while all the others had slightly longer ones.
18. Thanks for the clarification folks! An interesting thing I learned from those posts you guys linked is: That means there definitely can be multiple nunhs and small sub-tribes within each tribe. This makes me feel a lot better about a lot of the Nunh-players I've seen running around in game, as I've had sort of conflicted feelings about them before. It was hard for me to reconcile how there could be that many when supposedly there should have been only one or two per tribe.
19. Welcome! I hope you enjoy your time in game and with the RP Community.
20. The lore SE's provided us already states that women don't tend to leave with a Tia very often: "There is only one other way a tia can become a nunh, and that is to leave his tribe, and start his own. This, of course, requires several females to accomplish, and most female Seekers of the Sun are rarely impressed by a male who cannot defeat a nunh." One thing a lot of people seem to miss however, is that the lore also states a tribe can have more then one nunh- ("Depending on its size, a tribe may have multiple nunh (a ratio of one nunh per ten to fifty females is average).") This is similar to lion prides that have a coalition of male lions working together instead of just one male. There's no saying that perhaps a second nunh might leave his tribe and some huntresses might go with him. One thing that's always puzzled me about the miqo'te lore however, is that I noticed a lot of sources stating that there can be more then the original 26 tribes: [[ "As all letters of the alphabet are already taken by the 26 original tribes, any new tribes founded by tia are named with a second letter, such as "Ma" (e.g. "Ma'shtola"). These tribes tend to die out due to the aforementioned lack of women. " ]] http://finalfantasy.wikia.com states this as does http://ffxivrealm.com - but the original miqo'te naming convention thread that is cited as the source doesn't mention that. Anyone know if that's true or someone's pipedream that got shoe-horned in?
21. Please feel free. I'm just glad people understand where I'm coming from with all of this.
22. What Tobias said is a DAMN GOOD example of a hook. People KNOW FOR SURE that you're trying to catch their attention and there's next to no confusion. Also - emotes are slightly different in color then /say text, so it might be easier for people to see.
23. Good lord. That is longer then I thought it would be. ::Snips off the top::
