It's writing time kiddos. And I have an interesting prompt. In an alternative reality to FFXIV, your character has a child. How is this child like? What does s/he look like? Are they combat proficient? Are they a medic? How old are they? You can use any setting since it's an AU. So the child could be 17 in a post apocalyptic setting, or just born in an era of peace. Go crazy!

Oscare was engaged to someone during his time in the Garlean army and she died in a mass shooting that was caused and executed by Oscare himself. He became delusional and lost a very large fraction of his humanity and ability to love. He's attracted to people, but he would never make an effort to chase down relationships or form amy. So he doesn't love. Then recent advancements made Oscare immune to emotions and it's like love -- or even the very concept of friends or relationships- - never existed. He can't feel a thing, not even anger. Super delusional guy.

Grade-A belly rolling. Also, the purely default look (in reference to Kismet's post) is used to display the race in it's barebones detail. They're probably implementing their options as we speak.

Actually, this might be entirely true. I will admit defeat since everyone is entitled to an opinion whether it's lazy or not. @Lafi: I'm led to believe that those models are the 'default' models. Default meaning that you don't change a single option at all, not changing the sliders or colors. Which is why I'm not really too sold for the males -- I'd need to see more options.

Honestly, if you're not happy with the models, then don't be happy with the models. I understand why you don't, but I agree with Clover -- don't say it's 'lazy' designing. I understand why you think it's lazy since it does look like a hyur midlander with different textures, but it's unfair to call it 'lazy'. If you ask me, a very lazy move would have been not implementing them in the first place. They're going through the effort of making it playable for us.

Let's not kid ourselves by trying to suggest SE did this for any "legitimate" biological reason. They just have a default female look in the vast majority of their character designs and find it very difficult to stray from that look. I like to have a little more faith in the developers/designers, but I suppose this is true.

Sexual dimorphism is very common place in reptilians/reptilian-like creatures. I'm honestly not bothered by the fact that the males are 'larger' than the females because in nature, that tends to be the case anyway. Yes, it's a sex-appeal thing. Male lizards are larger than female lizards. While female snakes (anacondas, for example) are considerably larger than male snakes -- because it's a sex-appeal for the opposite sex. ... I shamelessly agree with Steel Wolf, by the way. Because god those horns are good. Edit: I am kind of weirded by the lack of muscle mass on the females though. Usually muscle mass is equivalent -- males just have a more profound one. That did make me double-take, but it's not too bad once you get over it.

I'm not entirely sold on how the male Au Ra look. The females look wonderful though. Not a fan of the male examples they showed, I feel like I need to see more options before I can say anything.

There is a quest line. It's required to open up the daily quests. Also, for those curious about what the Premium Gift Packages have; I've heard mixed stories. A lot of "Allagan Bronze Pieces" apparently. But I have heard quite a few getting some rare crafting stuff, like Thavnarian Onions. Quite a lot of Allagan Platinum Pieces.
