  1. Oo, excellent! If you go about drawing them whenever you wish, I'll have the gil upon completion. ^.^
  2. Digital, inked and coloured, please. ^.^
  3. Out of interest, how much would you charge for a chibi of the reindeer screenshot I posted? Snowmen included, not bothered about the background so much. I think it's be a really cute thing that I could do things with.
  4. Really? Made me think of this! ZHAqT4hXnMw Do not ask me how I know of this video, but gotta admit... It's awesome. Welcome!
  5. Hey, Lyrielle! Just thought I'd stop by with a few screenshots of Asgarn. It's completely up to you whether you'd like to commission them or not, my main thinking was that you could use them to practice drawing the Roegadyn posture, facial expressions, etc. Though, if you do decide to draw them, could I please see!? Your style really intrigues me as to how you would tackle a Roegadyn. A typical body shot of Asgarn in usual RP gear: Close-up in this set: Facial close-up of old RP set (also my avatar): And finally, look at all the friends I made!:
  6. Howdy, all! So, today I finally bought my Dust Bunny minion (ISN'T HE JUST THE CUTEST!?). Being a massive minion collector, I have decided to name him "Doug". At which point, I thought to myself: "That has comic book written all over it...". From there, naturally, I went on to think what said comic would be called. I decided that if Asgarn ever had a comic book series, it would be named "The Fantastical Adventures of Asgarn & Doug"! The question I pose to any interested is!! Drum roll, please... If your FFXIV character had a comic book series, what would you call it? Would it be light-hearted and comedic or deep and insightful? Or just plain blood, guts 'n' gore? (Also, if any of our esteemed artists here are good at drawing in a comic book styling, I might have an idea for fun... )
  7. An interesting set of character concepts... Whilst I have not yet played any of them in FFXIV yet, I have played a desert wanderer/warrior in RIFT. He was a remarkably tall, dark-skinned Eth whom adorned himself with the typical gear you would expect a desert wanderer to have. Leather with patchy bits of platemail, ragged cloth, etc. Though, he wielded two-handed sword rather than a scimitar (which I feel added to his character even more. ). He also had a bow on his back which was (RPed as being) rather old and had a torn fabric wrapped around it in places. In terms of personality, he was very much the "Few words, more action guy", being silent at times when sometimes it would seem odd to be so. Plus he was a bit of a loner. I have, however, had thoughts to roleplay this kind of character again. For a desert warrior, there are three races that really stand out to me: Hellsguard Roegadyn, Highlander Hyur and Dunesfolk Lalafell. Some might say "Why not Seeker of the Sun Miqo'te!?", I simply am not a fan of roleplaying them, sorry! Now, I personally would not roll a Hellsguard due to having a Seawolf already. This leaves Highlander and Dunesfolk. Highlander would be the typical archetype for this kind of character and perhaps the most obvious choice. However, I love the idea of a Lalafell desert warrior! Totally breaks the mold of what people expect! Plus, you won't expect the silent midget to kneecap you and call him your "Sultan".:moogle: Good luck finding others whom are interested in the other roles! But yeah, desert wanderer may be on the cards.
  8. I love your work! Someone's a Tera fan... In terms of gil, I would charge approx. 100 - 150k for one commission, given your work is extremely detailed and all. As for "real world money" I'm not sure as, to be honest, I'm not a fan of paying real money. Maybe I'm just stingy... Either way, Love your pieces!
  9. Thank you all for your replies! This thread seriously got more attention that I thought it would. Just to clear up any potential misconceptions, I have no issues with "sorting" said situations, I simply thought after a particularly enfuriating encounter to gauge how the rest of the RP community handles and thinks of such things. Truly enlightening, I must say. :moogle:
  10. I absolutely love that reply, Liadan! Haha! :moogle:
  11. I am pretty sure that I did not refer to them as official servers, in case the first comment is aimed at my post: "Personally, whilst I know it is not at Square Enix's top-of-the-list priorities, I think that Square could really do more to help. Of course, by the lack of official RP servers it can be seen that FFXIV was not designed with roleplay at the heart, though as it is with any developer, Square have a duty to protect their players from any form of harassment."
  12. Darn... What is with all these sharks? I know the brochure said this island had a shark population but, GOD. Would it kill them to pretend to be dolphins!?
  13. It's really great to get some opinions on the matter, guys. Thank you! It speaks volumes for the RP community of each game by looking at how they deal with these kinds of situations and it's good to see FFXIV roleplayers seem to be a mature and friendly bunch. Also, the insights that we have in to what leads the "trolls" to troll in the first place is very interesting. Your approach to seeing off the dragoon made me laugh, Bryn! Well, more than a laugh. More like maniacal cackling, but still... Laughed. Personally, whilst I know it is not at Square Enix's top-of-the-list priorities, I think that Square could really do more to help. Of course, by the lack of official RP servers it can be seen that FFXIV was not designed with roleplay at the heart, though as it is with any developer, Square have a duty to protect their players from any form of harassment. The process of reporting in FFXIV is a long-winded process in comparison to other games, where a simple "right-click, fill in a form, submit" method is used. While the reporting process does exist, this requires you to go through the main menu, support desk and locating the relevant report criteria. THEN you go on to write potentially an essay on what happened, the name of the other player, the server you are on, etc. Therefore, this report is not directly linked to the offending account, rather admins would have to look up the characer you reference, attaining the linked account and going from there. That on it's own seems rather... Over the top, am I right? Then there's Square Enix's terrible reputation for doing nothing about reports, which goes all the way back to FFXI. So you went through all that for nothing! Don't get me wrong, I love Square Enix. If I could adopt a Square Enix, I would be the Crazy Square Enix Man. But, y'know, the whole reporting process is rather lack luster and ineffective in my eyes.
  14. Now then, one thing I've noticed in FFXIV of late, much like other MMOs but on somewhat of a larger scale, there are a heck of a lot of people trash talking roleplayers. The people I speak of are the typical "Shouters" (you know the type. They spam your chat log with nonsensical shouts in places such as Quarrymill, Coerthas, the like) and this really just got me thinking. "Am I missing something?" I was just wondering if there has been some cause for this transgression towards a sect of MMO society which, to be quite frank, keep to themselves. Have roleplayers committed some unforgivable deed of which I have not heard? Also! How would you go about rectifying this? I have often considered responding over the Shout channels to defend roleplay, which I have a deep love for. However, one cannot help but think that it might negatively impact your reputation on the server, affecting your likeliness to get groups for content, etc. So, I bring this to the "RP Discussion" forum, as this is very much a discussion. If anything, I would like to hear from you, my fellow roleplayers. Of any past experiences you have had with these kinds of people (that you're comfortable sharing), what you would do if faced with them and just generally your views. All viewpoints are welcome, let's find out what everyone thinks!
  15. As has been said many times before, quit your worrying! It's highly likely that nobody will even notice, plus if somebody did, it's very rare that someone would actually care. I mean, you could likely make a Pugilist by the name of Tifa Lockhart and nobody would give a damn. (Tifa is a common name in all Final Fantasy universes, Lockhart sounds rather common as well) And for the sake of scoffing: SCOFF SCOFF SCOFF SCOFF SCOFF SCOFF SCOFF SCOFF.
  16. Having had a brief scroll, I cannot see all that much on Thyrus other than the Italian wyvern legend (nice find, by the way!). I'm not certain if this is what you are looking for, but here's some lore of Thyrus that White Mages find out during their story quests/relic quest: Thyrus was the legendary staff wielded by an eccentric Padjal, gifted in the ways of white magic, A-Towa-Cant. Unlike most of his kind, A-Towa-Cant did not seek the solitude of his homeland, but instead to explore the realm. Cataloguing information of all races he encountered, his journal contained many accounts of conversations with influential figures at his time of life. A-Towa-Cant ultimately met his demise in the U'Ghamoro Mines, the capital of the Kobold race. Both he and his apprentice (un-named, if memory serves right) braved the mines for the sake of knowledge, but only his apprentice survived. It is rumoured that, although he fell, A-Towa-Cant held his ground long enough for his apprentice to flee and potentially days afterwards. It is in the depths of O'Ghamoro that the player finds Thyrus, rusted and depleted. And so begins the restoration process. I hope that was helpful in some way! Sadly, I am not aware of any unique lore on how Thyrus came to be, if it perhaps possessed any unique features (a conscious, etc) or anything of the like. The story mostly revolves around A-Towa-Cant. Good luck!
  17. Hello, Hydaelites! As you can likely guess by the title, I'm looking for a little bit of help with the cutest boss in the entire game. It's fair to say this fight has me rather frustrated at the moment due to myself knowing the fight inside out. However, as it is with PUGs... Something goes wrong! So! If we have any Moogle Veterans, I would very much like a boost through this. :< Well, not a boost, per se, but y'know. I'm available whenever on weekends and (as of next week) all day Tuesday through Thursday. Please help... My dreams are starting to fill with moogles. o_o Good King Moggle Mog, Good King Mooooog. Lord of all the laaaaand. Good King Moggle Mog, Good King Mooooog. Rules with an iron haaaaaand. ... OH GOD, PLEASE. D: :moogle::moogle::moogle::moogle::moogle::moogle::moogle::moogle::moogle::moogle:
  18. Hey there, Lutra/Rhesh'ir! I, too, struggled with Titan HM until I decided to run him with my linkshell instead of PUGs. In short, I sympathise. Now, for what I have to offer. My Roegadyn's main class is WHM, his iLevel is 76 (last time I checked) and I would be more than willing to help you out! Unfortunately, I'm am from the UK, so I play on GMT. As such, the earliest I can help you out is Saturday. If that's okay, feel free to hit me up in-game! In case it's not, here's some pointers for Phase 5: - Upon initiation of Phase 5, Titan will be MAAAAAAAAD! So, before he lands and Tumults y'all to death, make sure you have the following buffs and HoTs on as many party members as possible: Medica II, Galvanize (I forget it's buff), Regen, Stoneskin (not vital, but it helps a lot!). When he's jumping, this is when a WHM should pop both Presence of Mind and Divine Seal. AKA Fast, big heals. Whilst he's tumulting, spam your AoE heals (Medica and.... Succor? I think?). These buffs and HoTs tend to cause all havoc for aggro mitigation, so make sure you have a good tank on hand to grab Titan back from flattening the healers. - During this phase his Rock Bombs will begin to spawn in a different formation, namely the "Three Lines" formation. When this happens, you need to run to the last line to spawn, as usual. Then as soon as the middle line blows up, run to the middle and you'll be all clear. - You'll start to see Weight of the Land a heck of a lot more during this phase. There are multiple tactics to this, but my favourite is to have all the DPS and healers line up across the middle of the platform. When WotL pops, each party member can then use the Q and E keys to strafe out of the AoE. Little note: It seems you can only get out of WotL in time by using the direction keys. Apparently, running out diagonally takes too long? - Finally, an attack exclusive to phase 5 (usually when he's below 25%): Mountain Buster! This is a frontal cone attack which should only hit the tank. This little beauty hits the tank for approximately 4000 HP (provenly more if it hits any other role... Stay out of this, it will one shot you!). The best ways to minimize the damage inflicted is to anticipate it around the 25% mark and use Stoneskin on the tank. Casting Virus and the Bard skill "Rain of Arrows" also help reduce it's damage ever so slightly. Now, most of the tips I gave you would require a WHM. As such... Good luck finding one! Or, if you haven't found one by the weekend and gotten him down, hit me up! I could ask around in Broken Chairs, also, as we have some experienced players.
  19. I must say the lack of a walk button was also a deal breaker on TERA for me. I wanted to RP a tubby cat man... :< (And no. I refuse to roleplay a Miqo'te. Roegadyn at heart!) Still, I tried to just play TERA for it's PvE and PvP content but a game without roleplay is like a gamer without fingers. POSSIBLE, but incredibly more difficult. And, as others have said, no post requirement to use the wiki! Feel free to put your character up their whenever you like. (Is say this and not "ASAP" because I have been meaning to do just that for weeks now. ONE DAY!)
  20. And you thought we WEREN'T elitist? Scoff... I have no idea where you got that idea from... Scoff scoff scoff... But in all seriousness, welcome to the forums! It's nice to see another player who played on Argent Dawn in World of Warcraft on here. Now, the all important question. Alliance or Horde? As for the other games, I cannot say I have touched Age of Wushu (is it any good?) though the other games you have played are all decent in their own fields and rite. In short, RIGHT ON! Further from what Rinette said, I've taken the liberty of preparing a couple of links to help you get to grips with the Elezen race and their lore (should it take your fancy): http://ffxiv-roleplayers.com/wiki/index.php?title=Category:Elezen Our own wiki. Yeah, we're that cool. http://ffxiv.wikia.com/wiki/Elezen You guessed it, the FFXIV wiki. http://ffxiv.gamerescape.com/wiki/Elezen A handy little page on GamerEscape about the Elezen. Ignore the first paragraph because it appears in both other links. Lore Part 1 & 2 are unique to this page, I believe. :3 OF COURSE! With games like FFXIV, what with each citystate having it's own varied groups of citizens of all races, you are by no means bound by lore when you RP. You could, for example, be an Elezen pirate from a foreign land where it just so happens everyone in said land wears pink, come to Eorzea seeking adventure and riches. Though, unless you want some of the more hardcore RP groups to chase you out of Gridania with pitchforks and torches, it's recommended you take at least a tiny bit of lore to heart in your character. Helps the flow of RP, y'know? I'm sure you'll be bombarded with other helpful links, so fear not! And once more, welcome to the forums! I hope you enjoy your stay.
  21. Oh my god, I miss ToonTown. My childhood (and early to mid teen years... Ahem)! Also, welcome, fellow veteran! There are two "un-official RP servers" on FFXIV, both based on the North American server list. Their names are Balmung and Gilgamesh, so choose whichever takes your fancy. Though, I hear Gilgamesh smells... Love yah really, Gilgies! Welcome to the community and I hope you enjoy your time in-game!
  22. Happy New Year! It shall be 2014 in England in T-minus five minutes. My only real aspiration this year is getting in to college, opening up many new windows and a new chapter in life. ^.^ Have a great time, whatever you're doing, guys! :moogle:
  23. On the subject of old Miqo'te... (Spoiler tag seems to be broken, so IF YOU DON'T WANNA SEE A SPOILER, DON'T SCROLL DOWN. STOP. STOP SCROLLING. That should be fair warning. Stahp.) F'lhaminn. Though her model still appears youthful, her hair has greyed considerably in the space of five years. One might think this speaks volumes for Miqo'te ageing.
  24. Your post is gold, Asgarn, but I do have to take exception to this bit. You see arthritis and other conditions like that develop in heavyset humans because those people are outliers - far heavier than the average humans even a thousand years ago. Roegadyn are supposed to be that big, so I'd guess that they wouldn't have those problems as a whole. You can look at elephants as a parallel. Elephants in the wild tend to be active their entire lives, and typically live pretty free of such ailments. Captive elephants usually can't get the activity they need, frequently get overweight, and do tend to suffer from cardiovascular problems and arthritis. It's clear that it's only the outlier animals that have the problem, despite all of them being big. Roegadyn seem to have a culture that values remaining vigorous (just from looking at all the Roe NPCs in the game) your entire life, so I'd hazard a guess that they remain strong and limber until they really become elderly. My first thought when I finished reading this was: "Roegadyn r elephant. :geek:" My thanks for what you said about my observations, it's good to know I'm not a completely crazed conspiracy-spinning maniac. But aye, I had not taken in to account the fact that they, as a race, were meant to be such a size. So, that correction can be noted by anyone reading this in the future! (I won't edit the original post due to not wanting to seem all "Oh my god, I can't be wrong. *Hyper-ventilates*") Thanks for pointing it out!
  25. Look at all this Roe-ttention you're getting. Roegadyn must be broody creatures. Whilst I cannot offer my character having a child (due to sexuality an' all that jazz), Asgarn does have five half-sisters which I would like to experiment with having one in-game. Not that Asgarn would know of her due to what is explained: here. Total soap opera drama momeeeeeent! *Le Gasp!* Of course, I can understand that this might not be what you were looking for. If not, it matters not and I wish you the best of luck finding a parental RPer.
