1) Yeah, hell you could find some reasons why you were doing WHM but might have some angry folks (NPC WHMs would probably want to hunt down your character due to him having succor without their permission.) 2) Gridania doesn't like adventures because sometimes bad stuff happens with them. They live in a place where a man made forest fire could piss off their landlords. However, it is more of a generic glare toward the outsiders than super restrictive; most of the leaders can see passed the bad apples. If he was there long enough people would probably like him especially if he had reverence toward elementals." 3) Conjurers use wood and other natural things to help channel aether from the natural world. So while unconventional, if your book was properly crafted with materials similar to the staves and whatnot of Conjurers, I don't see why he couldn't use a book as his focus. 4) Well... plead is a very um general term. Conjurers generally just tap the aether of the natural world around them. (Hence why we can see conjurers doing really nasty things (Enemies and a certain woman who will remain nameless) If they are doing something really aether dependent (something huge) NPCs have called upon the elementals for aid. However, not all conjurers can hear the elementals. If you do the Conjurer quest line up to 30 it gives you a good idea on conjury do's and don'ts. But in the case of conjurers they tend to be a conduit, you could almost thinl of them as a living 'aetheric array' that arcanists use. More... feeling and less thinking. (Magic vs Science sort of).

If we go by the Astro quest line (really isn't spoilery since you know... you are a healer class) a lot of the quests involve you healing folks... rather instantly, and I mean instantly. The characters are astonished how their wounds disappear before their eyes. Now, if we take it with a grain of investigation, most of the injuries are not life threatening, but if not treated quickly some could result in debilitation of the NPC if left to heal naturally. A lot of NPCs we see around in different cities are not actually injured physically as often as we see NPCs who are sick. Physical injury seems to be a far less common affair (mutilation and dismemberment aside). NPCs in the story that are 'physically' defeated seem to be fine the next time we meet them, implying that the physical wounds are easy to tend to by healers. However, when NPC is sick... they remain sick for some time. Often diseases and other illnesses are when a more alchemical or medicinal method is applied more reminiscent of modern day/historical medical practices. This could infer that aetheric healing is really good at restoring the physical back norm, but on a physiological and pathological plane it is not as effective. Better at putting things back together rather than taking things out. Now, full disclosure, I am of the mind set that physical injury does not necessarily make character development or the lack of it being a sign of an overpowered character. Bruises and bumps can be just as effective of a tool as getting skewered because it is not the injury that defines the development but the way the character deals with the aftermath. It could be limping around for a while or just the character reacting differently the next time they encounter the source of their bruise. (Aka guarding that side more, or having some hesitation toward a beast that gave them the bruise). As for healing a player character, I have healed Grindstone and other characters... many many times. I agree there has to be communication 100% of the time between the characters (in the case of Grindstone... don't be a stubborn bastard with your injury /cough/). If the wounded character wants to play the injury they need to make it clear otherwise they are not really giving credit to the skill of the healer. The character may have just gotten slashed across the chest by dragon they slew, but the healer character also may be slaying their dragons of injuries. Basically, it is a give and take... if your take too much your rob credence from the other character's ability or gravity of the situation. That being said. A good middle ground might be the non-physical (muscles skin bone) being the problem rather than lingering physical injuries. Play up the physiological and pathological. The wound might be gone but the character lost a lot of blood and the body is recovering from shock of the injury. Blasted by a fireball? Burns healed but you own personal aether is disrupted by the aether of the fireball. Infection from the dirty claws of dragon that tore your flesh. Since Aether is in every living thing, if the healing is intense enough, it means a lot of aether got used to fix your body, which could leave you weak and drained. All of those sorts of things could require longer healing times or far more than... "WHOOSH YOU BE HEALED!" In closing... uh just talk to your healer and discuss how you want to use the injury and how they would like to treat it within their character's ability. I am sure if you talk about it... you can come to a good solution that respects both players and characters, because there is nothing more annoying when playing a healer when your character is treated almost like a medkit from Left for Dead (aka heals you some but not all the way) every time. Everything above this paragraph can be ignored if you like!

People do this all the time already with aliases, though. How's this any different? *nameplate says Osric Melkire* *Osric comes into one-on-one contact with someone he's never met before* "Call me Thomys." It isn't, was the point I was making, which is why I will have my Au Ra have his actual name not the tribe he is infiltrating. Whoops, not being clear while working.
-
I would say they would give their tribe name as the tribe they are currently inside, but it would not change their actual tribe name. Such a case of person being a liar about the nameplate over their head. My name is Bob Billy Boy.... ignore the Jeb Jeremy Jon above my head.

Iex Moks Would be mine, though given the nature of that particular Tribe is rather unusual, not sure if a tribe list really would work for it.

FFXIV firearms do not seem to share the same punch of modern weapons. Hence WoL surviving several shots in intro, only loosing his hat. The fact the Empire did not steam roll and most of the soldiers still used more common weaponry the seem to lack the overwhelming power that changed warfare in real life. The end of the Armorer quest chain is another example of the power of firearms in FFXIV being different than real world weapons along with materia. That is not to discount their lethality with a skilled user, thanks to the admiral. The game is a fantasy game after all... if you try to apply too much real world realism rather than realism grounded in the game world you are going to run into 'plot holes.' Furthermore, I am sure the 'nature' of FFXIV firearms will be revealed more so with the machinist's quest lines.

You are really good at conveying 'life and emotion' with your faces... something I am insanely jealous of! (And your ability to draw clothing.... there is a reason my stuff is mostly naked guys and it isn't because of anything fun like OOOO NAKED GUYS..... it is because I can't draw clothes right )

You may want give an idea of what kind of logo you want. A banner, a seal... how detailed and stuff. What you would want in the design and colors? The exact details may be discussed between you and whoever is doing it, but it may be wise to give people a general thought to chew over and see if they are interested.

Really, it is EXTREMELY difficult* to base much of anything on a few lines of lore. One of my characters is going to go down the path of Dark Knight due to a unusual situation he has been put into, but it may be more using the concept than actually joining the 'order' of dark knights. It all depends really on the extent of the Dark Knights lore limitation. However, if we consider them sort of being the Ishgardian version of the Rogues guild. There is a lot of flexibility as to what can motivate or drive them. I don't think that Jacke would abandon his code of ethics even if he got magicaly moved to Ul'dah. He would just have waaaaay to much work to keep up with really. Likely, the infamous 'the elementals don't want her to be healed' conjurers in Gridania would have a visit from the rogue. Until we get more lore on them it really is impossible* to say if a character is going to follow the lore or not, unless they are preplanned to be a DRK that follows the blurb as the character concept. *Well.. in my opinion.

Personally, I think the Au Ra will be comfortable in their own skin. I can see someone who ICly suddenly becomes one having issues, but they aren't alien to their own body. Even though they are foreign to all the other races; they aren't foreign to themselves because they grew up among their own kind probably and have had lots of years to grow out of the awkward stages. Accidents might happen occasionally, but very little elsewise. Like a miqo'te with its tail and ears, or Roegadyn and Lalafell in their size. Also the Horns are part of their hearing so I am pretty certain they are very aware of them entirely and they aren't brittle.

When you slam the door in people's faces, folks tend not to stick around for you, especially strangers. You have done this four times, sometimes only giving people two days to 'entertain you.' While there is no magical formula to find RP, if you followed the NOVELS of advice you have been given in every thread you wouldn't be having much issues with RP. The cold hard fact is: if you are shy you still have to make yourself appealing to RP with for rp to come to you. Posting things like this, or in game going on about having to go to emo corner to be alone do not make you appealing ICly or OOCly. (Nor does it actually make you shy but that is a whole different matter). The second cold hard fact: RP rarely comes to you if you don't go to it first. As much as many people seem to rag on Quicksand 9 out of 10 times if you find someone with "RPer" in their tag without added E/M and walk up to say hello they will respond. It won't be the most INDEPTH rp but it is RP. The third cold hard fact: Calling out the community you are complaining about on the RPC is rather... uh.. silly? You do realize like.... only 1/10th (IF that) of the RPers actively use this. A lot of people I know just use it for the Event listings to go to events and make new contacts. No one is invisible, but if you don't give people a reason to see you they will focus on their own RP.

Currently the extent of it is as I understand: The Au Ra believe themselves offspring of the Dawn Father (Raen) and Dusk Mother (Xaele) (creation myth) The Raen were warring but eventually settled down to a life of peace and tranquility hidden from sight. They are somewhat isolationists except for the rare occasion of one wandering out on their own. The Xaele are tight knit nomadic hunting families that constantly live in a world of warring and bloodshed, maybe with each other maybe with something else on the Steppes of Othard. That is basically what we have at the moment.

Sadly, a lot of stories start like this: Think of something really horrible, and then ask what if it happened to my character. Or you could go with: Think of something really good, and then ask what if it happened to my character.

Grave would probably own some weird shop that sells old books and odd 'mystical' trinkets and tell customers the different stories behind all the odd items. Sarij: Marriage counselor. (/injoke) Lynx: No idea. Vulgar: Probably a Porn studio owner.
