1. I'm not sure if you've ever actually spoken to anyone irl. Care to elaborate? *large amounts of Hogwash* Well I'm glad you admitted to not being able to understand it; a massive insult towards everyone here isn't a great way to make you look good. Basically he said, "If you overuse the most extreme of curse words all the time, they start losing their meaning and power." This is why in RL if my one friend says Fuck, everyone laughs and keeps talking. Meanwhile, if I say Fuck, the entire place goes silent because I'm clearly incredibly angry at something. If you need smaller words I can try. ---- My own views, I don't like using 'modern' cursing like "fuck"/"shit"/"cunt" and whatever in the game. In part because the game has it's own list of words it uses to replace those that fit the FF14 setting (not actual history). Secondly in part because living in a big city and teaching high schoolers, I literally hear a bunch of teenagers spew these words out every other sentence every day. Because of that, those words just mean you sound uncreative, inmature, or super-edgy to me. Whereas stuff like "whoreson" I never hear, so I don't associate it with that. They're new, different, and a bit more poetic.
2. It's definitely worth noting that if you pull it out to survive or in extreme anger; your character's goals should be "no survivors"... friend or foe. Any survivors reporting it would mean your character's life is forfeit. It's that kind of cost that makes a Black Mage either incredibly limited in use, or a one-time pony ride before the chopping block.
3. Smash TV misses a few key components for being a Rogue Like. It's crushing difficulty isn't something that's surpassable with knowledge, experience, and luck. It's crushing and unsurpassable for the use for quarters. The dungeon levels aren't fully randomly generated, they follow incredibly set rules and themes. There's no unknown magical items or randomized item/equipment of any sort outside of basic game pickups. And it doesn't have a form of permadeath or semi-permadeath. You technically have infinite lives. It's an arcade twin-stick shooter, and amazingly fun one with a hilarious theme, but that's it. -- Darkest Dungeon and FTL are likely the closest to a pure rogue-like game in that there's randomized dungeon, zero reflex-skill gameplay, permadeath, a stamina-decay, and crushing difficultly. DD does veer a bit because you keep a roster of folks, rather than a single playable character/party that needs survive the whole game. Also the art style is amazing. -- On topic : I LOVED Smash TV and the glut of games back then that tried to emulate some sort of blood-sport TV show. Does anyone remember this lovely fellow?
4. There's a bit of truth to that, but behind each of those people there's army of folks who are either so unspecial they aren't even given names, or only existed to die. Ysayle had legions of unnamed heretics, Raubahn the unknown Twin Flames, Aymeric had tons of bodies near him, the good Crystal Braves are at the moment just really loyal folks, and Edda was special because of how terrible she was at what she wanted to do. Those are all major characters in some form. And it's fine to have a few major characters, it's fine to be good at something (or so terrible at it you kill your friends), it's fine to have potential. Not everyone needs to be a civilian. The issue is when everyone is a major character, and they start stumbling over each other. It works in D&D, smaller groups, and FCs because everyone is roughly the same strength in different ways. You get a good balance of everyone being awesome at something everyone else isn't and they can cover each other. But once you move out into Open RP, and everyone is a IC level 50 swordsman swinging whirling blades of death, it's less going on a balanced adventure, and more absolutely stomping someone else's content. There's been a few times by simple merit of being on the lower end of the adventurer scale of power that I'm just absolutely locked out because everyone else is Major character level. There's RP events made with the idea that everyone going there is already incredibly powerful in some form. They can shoot off Fire 3 while another person Holmgang's the big beasties breathe, and the archer shoots out it's eyes with precise marksmanship. Meanwhile, the novice adventurer can maybe shoot a Blizzard 1 and take copious notes during that fight, safely from the massive boulder they're cowering behind. What it ultimately comes down to is balancing the overall party strength, recognizing your audience, then adapting. You become too skilled when the environment you're in suffers from your skill. On the note of my personal beliefs, I'm of the Age vs. Skill camp. The older you are, the more I feel you're allowed to be skilled in without veering in Main Character or unfun territories.
5. Yeah, I've found that using any of the specialist skill is both expensive because of Blue Scrips use, and harmful in terms of getting any Quality or Progression. The only reasonable way to HQ the high-level crafting materials is by being an omnicrafter still.

7. A fun thing I did for this was to take the personality tests http://www.16personalities.com/free-personality-test ; that whole IFTP INFJ stuff they made us take in grade school, and then answer it once as myself and once as my character. I got INTP (Logician) for myself and Katiti scored ISTJ (Logistician). Logic versus Logistics.
8. It's clear given the lack of specificity in the emote, the situation, and their response, that they weren't there to actually truly RP out a antagonist. They just wanted to cause issues. You don't go to scheduled events and try to steal the spot light for your own personal RP.
9. Katiti's so far gotten along with most of the Raela. They tend to be intelligent and adaptable; both traits she likes and appreciates being a businesswoman. Xaela however? She's met a few around Ul'dah and finds them to be nasty, brutish, and quick to violence. Pretty much everything she's against. For the most part she's been happy talking and sharing ideas with the Raela, and angry and scared of the "barbaric savages' Xaela. Anyone who was hiding the fact that they're an Au Ra though caught her wrath for outright lying to her face for so long about it.
10. I didn't expect someone to post here! I've taken over the cafe in the meantime, and moved Linkshells as a result. If you want to join the Cafe you need to join as an employee of a cafe. You can try running into me, Katiti Kati, or X'khai Tia if you're interested ICly!
11. I plan to craft/gather myself to riches while I can. That or horribly fail at it. Most likely the latter.
12. The Event has Started! Come on down to La Noscea and join in on the fun!
13. Ah-! I must've missed that! It's June 13th! 100% the 13th! I fixed the post! Thanks.

15. Thanks to everyone who attended! Tonight's event was an incredibly success! We gave out almost half a million gil in prizes thanks to donations! I hope to see you all on the 13th again! Have some screenshots while you wait.
16. Just some two cents. I am a DPS SCH/WHM in nearly all content. The game is easy enough post-50, non-Coil; that I often don't even need to leave stance. To me, if I'm running a Expert Roulette, and I'm not DPS; not only am I not playing up to the maximum potential of my class, I am wasting 3 other players' time by slowing down the run. And it's not a tiny slow down, the amount of DPS I can put out as a SCH or WHM when speed running is absolutely insane. Not to mention by doing DPS -I am actively mitigating damage-. DPS helps me heal more than healing does. As a SCH, when I throw down my opening shields, and put down Shadow Flare; that 5% slow is a MASSIVE damage mitigation tool when dealing with large mobs. As a WHM, when I run into a group and Holy spam, that's almost 10 seconds that the mobs aren't dealing any damage whatsoever. Because of this, not only do I do amazing DPS, the tank stay healthy and largely unharmed. ---- I had once tried to run an Expert Roulette not stance-dance by request. The result was that I had nothing to do. I'd watch Netflix, do a Succor, and continue watching. No one died, no one came close to dying, and it took FOREVER. --- Now, low level dungeons? That highly depends on skills when it comes to stance-dancing. You can stance-dance at low levels effectively, but depending on the specific dungeon it will be harder or easier. You should at least -try- to stance-dance with it, let the party know you're learning to do so. If you can't, play it safe and practice again later. If you can? Get better. Keep doing it. It gets easier. Why strive to be sub-par?
17. Thank him, and then report him to the nearest law enforcement or adventuring agency for proper execution.
18. That thankfully may never be a case, at present; Combat Macros for DPS purposes only lower your DPS because of delays and queuing.
19. I avoid Combat Macros like the plague, since they screw up skill queuing and lower response times. The few macros I do use are generally (mouse over) macros for healing spells where time is of the absolute essence, and a text macro for when I resurrect someone so the other healer knows I handled it or Provoke for similar reasons. I have a HUGE dislike of "RP" Macros for skills and any ASCII art-spam macros. If your skill is important enough that it's going to ping up in the chat, it better be crucial to the encounter to some degree. I've had people that've macro'd skills like Rage of Halone and Energy Drain and others, which goes off multiple times an encounter and just serves to spam the chat. --- RP-wise, I have a bunch of Macros that let me use expressions and keep them up for a minute or so, as well as a Menu-System macro that let's me open up little sub-menus and quickly switch classes and access tools without having to do anything. /hotbar copy is utterly amazing in that regard.
20. I can actually answer this for myself since I'm the same way. Just *knowing* something is going to happen is very far removed from actually experiencing it. For me knowing whether or not a death was forth-coming (and in Nanamo's case, it was foreshadowed so much it was barely a spoiler) doesn't change how it affects me. It may lose it's shock value (though in Nanamo's case, it really didn't with how vicious that animation looked); but it doesn't lose any of the emotional value. After all, I spent the past 50+ levels getting to know these characters, it doesn't matter if someone told me at Level 1 Thancred is a jerkface, Blue-Guy betrays everyone, and Princess gets her comeuppance; it won't un-immerse me or make me grow cold to the characters.
21. I actually kind of liked that about the death. Death isn't always this huge climatic, heroic end; especially in political situations. Storywise, it wasn't a giant "LOL NOPE" from the devs, it was Nanamo making herself a clear threat to people in power, and those people in power taking action to keep it. It seems like that because we only see it from our, and thus, Nanamo's perspective. But in a political storyline, choking to death from poison is a relevent and expected end to you and any plot you had. It's meant to be sudden, and seemingly anti-climatic. As a Crusader Kings 2 player, I fully approve of poisoning a leader to death!
22. I personally consider her not dead and possibly in hiding until I see an actual body. This is more of an end-of-season cliffhanger than anything else. It certainly would be a nice change of pace to see Nanamo actually outsmarting her enemies for once. The only problem with that, is that the amount of huge, far-reaching consequences caused by such fakery would be almost an unforgivable crime for Nanamo herself. The chain of events practically wiped out the Scions, almost killed Rauhbhan, killed Syndicate members, and countless others just involved. "Sorry all your friends are dead... but at least equality is a bit closer in Ul'dah now!" - The other thing is we literally saw her die. That's a righteous amount of acting, and if it was all a fake I'd want to kill her myself afterwards for all the death it caused.
23. I've been known to go into rages over WoD and Expert Roulette runs where I, as Scholar, top the DPS charts and Eos pulls aggro... I don't expect much, but at least know how your bloody DPS class operates!
24. There's actually lore on this - not specifically on Louisoix's sabatons (which are white, not sure what's an odd color about that?) - Yeah, the pure whiteness and gold linings of the armor make me think it's made of one of those GSM metals, and not BSM/ARM materials. On that note, tinfoiling armor with gilding for an anti-mage battler sounds like a pretty cool idea.
25. Actually, I'm a bit curious of those myself, Papa and Louis' metallic armors are very oddly colored. I'm theorizing that they possibly be made of special metal materials such as rose-gold, darksteel, or platinum.
