  1. There's not been an exact date given, but with the amount of time it would take to cross an ocean and with the Domans beginning to arrive in 2.2 with Yugiri, I think we treat it as having taken place near the end of the 2.0 storyline.
  2. Indeed, I look forward to interacting with some other Domans. Our characters are actively trying to rebuild the Shinmeiryu though, so...
  3. I read both profiles and I thought while reading that you two did a great job telling a story while keeping the specifics open to change. That's what I'm trying to do right now, too, with the Doman character I am finishing up for the (hopeful!!) opening of the Balmung gates tonight. I especially like how you and Motoko wove in the Ninja storyline with your character histories. Do you know if there is somewhere online to find the Ninja quest transcripts? I'll check YouTube for the cut scenes, maybe... I think you two incorporated the kind of general feudal Japanese historical setting that Square used for the Far East in FFXI. I can't wait for Samurai to be in the game! We tried very hard to go off what was given to us in game and we spent many days arguing about how events lined up to make things as seamless as possible. We kinda are :\ between ourselves about having actual quest content be something we set our characters as having partaken in but... -Shrugs- It works for us and we enjoy it. It helps that we were able to gratuitously lift certain things coughShinmeiryucough from other sources wholesale.
  4. As you can see if you read Seno's bio (or his wife's, she's actually done more fleshing out in hers), we said screw it and did what we wanted, though for the most part we feel it fits into the lore.
  5. Haha, awesome--do you have an RPC Library page set up for them? Link me? I have been reading that wiki like it's homework lately. Being trapped on my phone for internet until Sunday, I can't give links but look up Seno Nakakami, Chao Lingshen, and Yuuna Akashi. Ignore the fact that I've done very little work on Yuuna's page and that Seno's is mostly in bullet format.
  6. Most of the lore-based questions have been answered, so I'll just go of note that I have three Doman characters, one of whom was conscripted by Garlemald for a while before she blew up parts of the Ultima Weapon and peaced out.
  7. I should like to point out that the majority of the Sultansworn are in the pockets of the Monetarists, which is in fact the driving point behind the PLD quest conflict. The Flames are, for the most part, held up as being a largely upright group because they answer to Raubahn. It's why the Monetarists hate them. As far as the stuff at the end of 2.4, the reason why a certain individual wasn't shot on sight was because it was kept at the top level of the Flames so as not to incite a panic.
  8. There's also the magitek photocells strewn all over Toto-rak, but that seems more related to the barriers througout than photography.
  9. So it's confirmed that you go to your spouse, and not just the nearest aetheryte? -Eyeballs those lying aetheryte pendulums or whatever from the refer-a-friend campaign-
  10. Technically, R'tahz is just a lancer. The only reason he has wyrm mail at all is because the guy who trained him overheard his waifu saying she thought the armor was hot, so the guy got him a replica set. Same with his lance. It's a replica. Really, collecting replicas of gear is sort of his hobby.
  11. I think all my characters have scars, but not all of them have stories. Ganale looks completely undamaged to the casual observer, until one notices that his left arm is always covered. Underneath whatever he's got covering it, he's got a pile of metal fragments fused to his arm from shoulder to wrist, as a result of taking a magitek reaper blast to his shield arm by his onesie at Carteneau. The shield was magicked, and the magics of the shield didn't play nice with the reaper's energy and so violently resist being treated with magic. Also hurts like hell when rain's coming and in the rain. R'tahz has two scars on his face, a shallow one on his cheek that he got in his second nunh challenge from not dodging a sword fast enough, but he's mostly decided to keep that one because A.) he respected the nunh who delivered it and B.) he feels it keeps him humble. He's got a much deeper, meaner scar over his right eye from his ninth challenge when the nunh he was fighting snuck a bladed hora into an unarmed contest and nearly took his eye out with it. That one is too much trouble to heal, plus the Calamity hit shortly thereafter so most healers had more important things to worry about. Chao has a nick on her cheek from a piece of an exploding ceruleum fuel tank. She also has some pretty gruesome burn scars on her legs from the same explosion. Those couldn't heal all the way because ceruleum is corrosive as all hell, but at least she can walk normally. Seno has a small scar across the bridge of his nose, probably from getting smacked in the face by his wife. Garon and L'dran both have a lot of various scars, but as one's a bounty hunter and one's a mercenary assassin, no real stories other than "they get in fights a lot."
  12. As a frame of reference, my miqo'te character has a set of replica wyrm mail and knows the skills of a dragoon, and here's how. Huge-ass backstory aside, he's favored the lance since he left his tribe because it lets him keep most enemies at arm's reach. He especially started to favor it after he started traveling with his soon-to-be-wife, who is a thaumaturge, because he used its reach to keep things away from her. (He's a white knight of the highest caliber, but that's not the discussion here) While traveling together, he self-taught himself how to be a lancer on top of occasionally picking up official pointers from the lancers' guild. When it came to the point that both of them felt as if they couldn't progress any further in their fields on their own, they started looking for outside tutors. She found one first, and as she was training in black magic, he continued to self-train, not learning anything new, but honing his existing skill to a razor's edge. Once she finished, he got word that there might be someone in Coerthas he could learn some advanced training from. So they trucked off to the frozen hell land and met an ex-dragoon House Fortemps guard captain, who initially had no intention of teaching him any DRG skills because he was an outsider. But the guy was a big softie, and decided to teach him in secret after learning that my character's sole reason to learn was to protect his sweetheart. And barring some extra backstory stuff involving a notorious monster and a dickhead inquisitor, that's how I got a miqo'te who has the skill and equipment of a DRG but no official recognition or title, and in fact has a death mark on his head in Ishgard.
  13. My DRG wears wyrm mail and warrior's gear, but they're explicitly knock-off replicas that he had commissioned because his lady friend thinks they're hot.
  14. I wanted to have something witty to say but I couldn't come up with anything.
  15. We got incredibly lucky and nailed the exact spot we wanted. Had us freaking out for a second because we both tried to hit it at the same time, but when she got it, it told me it was locked out. So I tried for the next one and it wasn't completing, but that one kept showing as available. They really need to make it clear that only one partner needs to do the reservation, and/or have it notify both of them when one is made. We'd have been confused and agitated if we hadn't been sitting right next to each other and able to double-check off each others' screens.
  16. I've been there, bro. That was basically my entire life in FF11. But now I'm here and have six marriages lined up. 120 dollars? Hah, no. We only went super-fancy on one pair. Two pairs got gold, the others are going to be free. Well, one of the other three might also be gold. I'll clarify: We have three pairs immediately ready to be married, one at each pay level. The other three pairs are gated behind not being level 50. Once we get those up, two of them will have free and one might get gold.

  18. I have been waiting all day to blow this thread up since I discovered it on break this morning. Here we go. Chris and Sabine, the first pairing. R'tahz and J'karu (scandalous cross-tribe romance, gasp!) (Also not their actual jobs): Garon and Tessa. They're...there's lots of UST there. Him being a bounty hunter after the price on her head may have something to do with it... Seno and Motoko, the Doman refugees, last inheritors of a Doman swordsmanship school. Maresia and Cresnoble. These two are....odd. She's a ghost. Of sorts. It's complicated. He's an assassin. Not so complicated. Hotaru and Yuuna. Also Domans.
  19. I would like to start off with the disclaimer that I suck at these. Normally when I arrive somewhere new I just lurk and do my own thing, but I've noticed a few threads around here that I want to partake of, and that may be a bit rude without at least an introduction first. Even though I assed that up by posting twice somewhere already... So, been in game since the end of February, finally broke down and started making RPC pages around October after one of my FC-mates had advertised her (half-broke) page for the entire time I've known her. It's kind of exploded from there. Most of the time I just sit around outside our FC waiting for my various gathering nodes to spawn while doing stuff paged out of game. Occasionally do progression stuff and raid. Really, now that I've got a bunch of characters and jobs to 50 it's mostly a vehicle to hang out with my buddies in the game. When we're not getting wrecked by Twintania. So....yeah. Now I'm going to go raid those other threads I've been meaning to.
  20. I've long since given up on trying to win the pun games. I'll just stick with my "nault the time for this"
  21. Coerthas is constantly full of people making Naul puns in shout.
