This sounds interesting and I think i may have to look into it, i played off and on from the launch of 1.0 through some of the free period, came back and re-created my character on the Besaid/Balmung server but i never truly got a chance to really get into the game or meet up with and randomly kick up conversion OOC'ly or otherwise with any of the RP community then, plus being I wasnt able to maintain time to keep up with the game i'm lacking on Lore lol, the idea of this seems possibly interesting. I'm not really a NEW player, but fairly newbish in my knowledge as I missed using my beta key so i have no experience with any of the changes and revamps for 2.0 vs 1.0. Do semi in between NEW and returning players count as being eligible to look into a possible mentor? lol

I know that not always and maybe even with many games one doesnt notice any difference or improvement when having them installed on a SSD vs a normal hdd but since after having done homework and personally testing out a couple that i play ive noticed nice and more enjoyable performance that was noticeable to me at least so I wondered if any who've been in the beta's for ARR have had it running off a SSD and could comment as to whether they noticed nice loads and/or anything else vs a normal hdd.

Ah, thinking about it after u replied I guess i DONT need the code, lol but like u I wanted the physical goods even knowing i got the digital ones for free. Thats right, we could play on both platforms off one account, i had kind of forgotten about that since i planned to just play it on pc ne way(especially since im treating my rig to a nice shiny new vid card fo further enhance my enjoyment of ARR lol) Guess I'll just leave the pre purchase as is then. Not sure if its beneficial to me to get it swapped to the ps3 version yet or not, least I got a little time to think on it though. Thanks for the reply! Even if its just one day I do so love getting in a bit early for my gaming, especially now that i'm working again, time isnt as plentiful during the week heh I wonder if I'd make use out of having the option to play on both platforms.. game on the pc by day, come evening relax time, switch out to the ps3 and the 40" tv and kick back.. hmm EDIT2: Solved, i just grabbed a ps3 CE pre order earlier, figure i'll get the most usage for the $ this way and gives them a bit more $ toward the game

I'm planning on returning with my 1.0 account/character and once I saw the lovely CE of ARR I just had to order for the physical goodies(I had the original 1.0 boxed CE so i knew i was getting the digital items but i wanted that lovely artbook and such as well) I'm assuming that I'll simply have to register the key of the ARR CE to my current account and be good to go? I'm figuring yes as most games tend to work like that but I figured id get verification just in case, i definitely want to return with my original account but want to make sure i get everything from the ARR Collectors edition set tied to my account properly. Note: Sorry in advance if this was discussed somewhere in the forums and i overlooked it as i'm sure its quite possible

Ah those were the days, for me FFXI was my first mmo, so if wasnt really even 'hard', more like everything that came after was easy haha. So many good memories from then

I figured id take advantage of the World Transfer as my original character which I believe had first belong to the Figaro server(chose the server at the time in homage of easily one of my top favorite RPGS and FF's of all time) had wound up on Aegis. Though it shared the same name with my character that i created on Besaid/Balmung come launch time I will just tweak/edit the character names a bit since I submitted a transfer app to bring over my Aegis character to Balmung as a 'just in case' i missed something he had on him lol. Holy hell i am getting anxious for Aug. 27:moogle:

I'll be curious how this all unfolds as well, i completed missed out on the actual legacy signup stuff so i really dont know for sure what beginning awaits my old 1.0 character. If i miss out on something then that will be a bummer but I'll make the most of it since either way its like an all new game and i'll be enjoying my adventures regardless.

Hmm, this sounds like an interesting linkshell, i think i'll sub the thread to keep tabs on this. Sounds like a good concept though.

The job being tied to start city is new to ARR/2.0 isnt it? hmm, what does this do for us bringing out our old 1.0 characters? Side/unrelated note: I remember setting aside a day to go on a small adventure and visit the other cities that I hadnt started in, and somewhere I think i still have the opening cinematic of each saved. I found I liked each of the cities but I found myself rather found of Limsa for some reason which is shown by my certificate lol

Somehow I can't help but htink its been brought up/discussed already(did do a quick/brief search before posting this) but I was curious if the community here were considering setting up a friendly little Hydaelyn Coalition Linkshell. IF my understanding was right with the release of 2.0/ARR that linkshells instead of functioning as the 'guild' aspect will still be there and possess the same usability as before where the Free Company is the actual guild designation for ARR and that we can still possess and be a part of of multiple linkshells I figured if it had been suggested then a Linkshell for the community here sounded like a cool idea and thought I'd put that out there(if it wasnt previously talked about) or add in my being in favor of it if it was already mentioned lol

Woot, rechecked my account/select options screen and saw my Balmung character listed, good to go for ARR *cheers* :moogle:

Just Saw the news in my email .Can't double check my account since my authenticator is at home lol but so long as my account page shows a character listed for Balmung then I should b good to go right? Im probably just being paranoid but I absolutely want to stick with the coalition site community when FFXIV:ARR launches since u guys have seemed like a great community.

I was so happy to see the latest video showing Carbuncle, I loved how they designed em back in FFXI and was about the only real exception i took to my usual melee based fighting and hybrid classes was taking a lil time to get out SMN and run around with carbuncle busting out Poison nail/claw haha. I am really looking forward to diving back into this game in a couple months. Sadly ive missed all the beta weekends so i havent gotten to check out the revamped combat so i dont know if i can hybrid up some of my abilities like i was doing back in 1.0 but I'll make things work either way. Loving the last few videos they've released. I wonder if we'll see a Darknight and Ninja make a comback in 14

Happened to think about this the other day, what with the story starting new with ARR, I'm figuring theres going to be a new intro experience for new players/characters. Im assuming that those of us bringing our old characters out of sleep when the game goes live may not get to experience it? Like when we initially chose which of the 3 nations to start out of, or will we just use our existing characters and start through them? I really need to go and read through the latest updates off the main site, I wouldnt be surprised if my answer is there lol.

Even if there arent exploration events, nothing says u cant create your own exploration event alongside fellow adventurers I'm big on exploration and just 'adventuring' which I carry in any in game persona of myself I make, I completely can't wait to get back into this

Well I couldnt resist, even knowing Id be getting ARR's digital CE items for free I went and threw in a pre order for the full CE set heh. Course now I'm going to end up with 2 security tokens

I wanted the goggles that came with boxed pre orders , but i was happy with my CE edition set and my certificate that ive kept safe but plan to get a frame for now that im working again.. course i think I'm going to give them more of my $ and get the CE for ARR

Yea I saw it was for the digital in game items, at the very least thats still awesome they're treating us old members well though. I may have to consider grabbing the Realm Reborn pre order and adding to my existing account, I do so hate to miss nice collector's edition goodies with games I like heh. Having my single character I had started when i discovered where the rp community called home kept in tact is all I really want. Wasnt that far in progression but I had put in some time in gathering items, resources and harvesting stuff while developing skills in several disciplines/classes. As well as having tried to obtain the required items to try and craft my Kabuto helm and a set or 2 of the old xmas-ish dream gear to have both of my retainers wear. I guess I need to track down to see (had caught an article mentioning it briefly) what was to become of our characters' retainers and our amassed inventories of stuff heh. As long as its been since I played ontop of the revamped combat system I've heard about it's going to almost be like playing an entirely new game again like a good ol day 1 noob.. ahhhhh good times

I just got a glimpse of the fact that people who owned the collectors version with registered accounts will be able to obtain the Realm Reborn Collectors Edition items once the game goes live. This excites me Immensely <3 So far providing we had registered characters and accounts prior to shifting from 1.0 to A Realm Reborn our characters sill still remain intact correct? This is probably my single biggest worry as I hadnt had a chance to do much with my previous time w/1.0 and last i saw I still had characters listed on Balmung I think it was and another server when I logged into my account page.

I'm so anxious, even more so with the announcement of the release date. I wish I had gotten a chance to get a feel for the new system during the beta phases though, from what I've been hearing its gotten me really curious @.@

I can neither confirm or deny the existence of an RPC Beta Forum. Please move along. 8-) But yes, I meant the official beta forums. They're probably a little dead right now because there hasn't been a beta going on for a while, but I'm sure there's some people sticking around. Ah I hadnt realized that. I will have to try and look into that. As long as i can retain what little progress I made on my character and at least mots of my stored items I think I'll be ok(That and being able to stick with where the bulk of the community here plans to call home server wise) Appreciate the replies though, folks here as as helpful as I remembered

Id never ask someone to break NDA in any form so no worries. I'm under NDA for something else as well so i know how that goes. I dont know why i'm remotely bothered by not having had a chance to poke in during the betas. I know for a fact im subbing this up for at least a month or 2 to see how things feel when its back up live again lol. Im just anticipating reverting back to day 1 noob mode as i relearn essentially everything from scratch on my character and then the joys of shuffling through all my items and inventory:dazed:

I will have to try, I know regardless that once I'm able I will be in to feel out the new game when it launches. Need to dust off the character gear and make sure the retainers are behaving.. as well as can be expected lol
