Orlog's butts, butts, butts, and sometimes art thread.
Orlog replied to Orlog's topic in Artisan House
Hey guys, sorry it's been so long since an update! I've been busy... livin' life. I haven't really set aside much time to draw lately, which is a shame. I promise I'll get to the sketches as soon as possible, but I also don't want to rush myself just to get them done, 'cause I'll know I could have done better. /artrant Anyway, have another crappy head shot while I try and get back into my groove. Eventually I need to start doing full body pieces again. Faces are just so damn fun, though. -
More screenshots that I totally forgot that I had taken! ...Mostly just admiring how much more I love my character since the race change. Love eeet. These glasses were sitting in my inventory... waiting. Waiting to be worn on this face. Arcanist main healer, go! No problems, even when helping out a first time tanker guild mate.

There will be lots of people that move onto other games as they are released and this is part of gaming. However it saddens me that ooc knowledge would hinder potential fun rp experience in game between characters. Nevertheless its your choice. Yeah, it's a bit odd. I know I'll be playing several MMOs at once and I'm sure there will be an eventual point where I don't play FFXIV, as it's a typical life cycle for games for me; I play, I eventually do everything, I play something else. But, on topic, I've had this error since last night and it's a bit frustrating seeing that it's the last night of beta. But, oh well. I got my Arcanist up to 20, at least.

You guys have no idea. I LOVE to cook like no other. I might not be a professional chef, but I've seriously considered it at points. Foods I've made (cause I also like to show it off ): [spoil][/spoil] [spoil][/spoil] [spoil][/spoil] ...Fuck, now I really want to go cook something awesome. Spicy pasta tonight!

Shhh, it's okay. Just because there's a differences in opinions doesn't automatically mean that there's shaming going on.

What is you're favoite Final Fantasy Song?
Orlog replied to Kellen whitewolf's topic in Off-Topic Discussion
I can't just pick one?! Seriously, I listen to FF music all the damn time and I love most of it. But, I can give you a few of my absolute favorites: http://youtu.be/r4-D2kWOc2U http://youtu.be/VUroOJ8CFpQ P.S. Guys, I love FF9 so much. -
I expect I'll be in the minority here, but Viera on this end. I absolutely hate just about everything in the design of the Miqo'te. The Viera at at least make a little bit of sense and their animations were never something completely ridiculous because of the animal add ons. I cringed every time I used an emote on my Miqo'te back in 1.0. Their faces are all chubby, their eyes are huge for their face, their noses are TINY (despite their claim that they have the smell of a bloodhound. That's not how that works?) and I have a lot of issue with their general focus on cuddly kittens, instead of dangerous feral cats that you would assume would come with being in a traditionalist culture. Viera honestly came off as an actual race that would have no problems existing in that world, rather than a "CATGURL" gimmick that a lot of games try to get in on. I mean, if the Viera lost their ears and their long nails, they'd still be a race all of their own and it would still make sense. The cat ears and tail are what makes just the Miqo'te, for the most part and are just a pudgy, weird, human without them. Even outside of the general character design, the Viera were an adaptive, solid race. So... Yeah. I would be pretty happy if they actually added them in to the game. FFXIV was intended to be Ivalice Online, anyway. So, it'd work.

[Gilgamesh] Why not Behemoth as our non-legacy server?
Orlog replied to Xerek Devereux's topic in FFXIV Discussion
I think it's something you could probably leave to the people who're rolling on Gilgamesh after everyone's got a feel for the sever and community. I'm sure there will be sever transfers again at some point after launch, so I honestly don't see it as a huge deal. If, in the small possibility, it turns out that the RP can't thrive because of other internet groups taking over in an non-RP fashion, I'm sure things'll get figured out in the end. -
Whoa, this looks really cool! Color me intersted enough to check it out.

What games are you playing/looking forward to?
Orlog replied to Orlog's topic in Off-Topic Discussion
I played that some through beta and I really enjoyed a lot of the designs for the characters, but ultimately found the game play to be a little too repetitive. Add on to the fact that I could never connect to the people I wanted to play with and I eventually just quit. I do see that they have new classes out, so I might give it another shot and see how it's come since beta. But, to add on to my list... I'm going to be getting a 3DS soon-ish and I plan on getting Animal Crossing and Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate right away. I'm so excited to be able to pick up the hunting horn again. 8D -
It's honestly really great to pull all over the place as far as dress, in my opinion, because you have so many options and so much makes sense, but can still fit within the bounds of the world. Like, for example with Bea, I recently came across some Saudi Arabian garbs that are just perfect for her desert wear in Ul'dah. It being simple fabrics that are brightly colored that cover the wearer from head to toe is not something that would be really out there for Ul'dah society, and they just look fucking amazing. Here's one of my favorites, and here is where I found them.

Word! I added a slots menu on the first post to make shit easier to view. I'll probably update it with my progress as I'm going along. Happy day! -
More songs for Beatric! Annnd this one is not for her particularly, but more the type of stories you could possibly hear her telling. http://youtu.be/lhQsJhWyFIk
-
Ah, that's something I totally forgot to add! Accents! I had a very specific way that I wanted Bea to sound, even if her word usage can be pretty normal. Anyway, I wanted her to sound Indian-ish, sort of like Fran from Final Fantasy 12.
-
I'd give it about a 6. I really like the first name, but the surname is a bit of a mouthful, almost on purpose (from what I can tell anyway). And something about using "wyn" in names always irks me. My character's name is Beatric Reid. Come at me, yo.
-
...and by that I don't mean those other islands. I mean taking culture from completely outside of the game. Do you do it? What're your thoughts on it? Why do/don't you like the idea? I ask this simply because I've been seeing a lot of people going pretty heavy into the small amount of lore given so far for their characters and RP experiences, and that's all fine and dandy, but is there ever a point where you start to draw from outside sources for insurances? Obviously there are a bunch of other circumstances where this could come up besides tribalism (weapon designs, clothing ideas, general philosophies, etc.) coming from a vast majority of different places (real life, your own ideas, etc.). So, feel free to share your thoughts! For my own experiences with Beatric, despite her not using traditional tribalism in the slightest, she very much draws from a lot of cultures and practices we've seen in the real world. I still tend to keep the ideas within a reasonable area of the lore of Eorzea, as well as working with a few ideas given in game, but the vast majority is from either my own ideas or real world cultures and practices. She also happens to be a huge collector of stories and as in OOC thing I tend to take some of my favorite myths and sort of blend them into the Eorzean world. Ps. I'd like to apologize for making my... 3rd? 4th? thread on culture and general influences. Color me curious. Edit: I wanted to expand on this so it didn't sound like I was just repeating some of my previous thread questions. I'm less talking about lore influencing your character specifically, but more... adding in lore of your choosing to the game world, regardless of character, if that makes sense? Doho, I am terrible at conveying my thoughts!

It's no problem at all! I ended up slapping some color on the sketch and decided I will likely to the same for the rest. I'm definitely starting to like coloring more and more! -
