I'd call it a resolution and PS3 limitation, likely. Imagine trying to render all those chat bubbles in the Quicksand or in other crowded areas. Or if someone's playing on 720p, it'd mean you'd see nothing else but text on your screen (or it'd be unreadable) Or aesthetically, SE might just consider it messy. The chat log does wonders for that. That chat log is decent enough until it turns into a scrolling marathon to see if someone's replied to you yet.

I usually drop an aoe on the mobs and whichever is taking the most damage, I focus on that one as well.

Sure there's definitely going to be some "cut & paste" if you RP a dungeon run. But I personally would battle the regular mobs and maybe even a mini boss (depends) while IC and just run the bosses OOC.

I'll keep an eye on this, I'm all the time creating alts, getting tired of them so use Fantasia/ Name Change and start over. May as well let you kill them before I do.....

Not only that, but it could also be grounds for IC dungeon running. Something I always thought would be fun but have never gotten the chance to do so.

Your views for chat function is basically explaining your way of communicating RP wise. For instance: When I use /em or /say, those are used for IC speech or actions where otherwise I use /shout for OOC communication. Just stuff like that. To be honest I'm not really sure why it's even a question.
