  1. So the new jobs start at 30? I'm already seeing tanks not tanking and healers not healing when you need them the most *shudders* I mean, sure, you need to reach 50 and complete the MSQ to get the new jobs but if you never played a tank or a healer before, chances are you'll suck at it, and this time you don't have ~15-20 levels to learn how to do it.
  2. To be exact, here's what was said on the forums: "Au Ra Raen and Au Ra Xaela. Au Ra Raen have been closely related to the Domans for long time, so their names are somewhat Japanese-like. The Xaela on the other hand have led a nomadic lifestyle for some time, and they have a unique naming convention." So that's a little info to start concept-crafting! They at least could have told us what are those unique naming conventions the Xaela use...
  3. Let's bump this, now that we know the Au Ra clans: Raen and Xaela. Raen (the ones with a more human-like complexion) have Japanese-like names (so like Yugiri and the ninjas), while we don't know much about the Xaela (the ones with Duskwight-like complexion). Damn, I prefer the Raen by looks, but I hate the names they use. Let's just hope Xaela Au Ra can have normal skin.
  4. Also, I want a cloak like the one the Derplander wears at the beginning of the Heavensward trailer.
  5. They forgot Red Mage. 'cause it's always the right time for Red Mage.
  6. It doesn't matter how you see it, it only matters who SE presents the class in the context of the game. Paladins in XIV aren't holy, and they're already plenty corruptible. Well, that's if you are running the Dark Knight as a Dark Knight as presented in the game. You could certainly run a Paladin that is "corrupted" and still uses the Paladin skillset and whatnot - there's nothing like the DnD Paladin-style vow-to-the-gods mechanic that strips you of your abilities if you step awry, after all. Conversely, you could have a Paladin who takes up whatever darky-dark-darkness path the Dark Knight's method provides for whatever nefarious purposes while still claiming to be a Paladin. Then you technically have a "Corrupted" Paladin despite mechanically being a Dark Knight. It's all really in how you spin it, and how those you RP regularly with react to it. Hm, I should backpedal clarify that I'm taking on the "anti-paladin" concept that always seem the link these two jobs. Traditionally, PLD and DRK wear the same types of gear, do the same types of damage and one channels white magic while the other channels dark magic. That doesn't really work in XIV, though, because paladins aren't holy knights here. They're just knights. Being a fallen knight is an angle, sure, but there's no "falling" away from the light in this case. Sultansworn are guards with a unique sprite, and Free Paladins are trained in a specific method of combat. If you turn away from that, you're not really... evil? You just don't use that style/method/job anymore. Hm, I guess what I mean is that ANYONE can "fall" and embrace Dark Knight. There's nothing inherently anti-paladin about it.
  7. Uugh if only I could be there. Damn timezones. Just... pretend there's an hooded Au Ra ex-Paladin man at the meeting.
  8. I'm sure that the Castrum in Coerthas will be accessible in Heavensward. They can't just tell us Garlemald is up to something and then ignore it. As for the other two, I have no idea.
  9. Well, you can easily end up being able to summon Titan-Egi before facing Titan and Garuda-Egi before Garuda. I don't mean to nitpick, but you actually cannot. When you try to take the quest from Y'mhitra, it states that you have to complete The Navel or The Howling Eye before you can get the summon. I...might know this because I leveled hard on accident while I was playing the first time. I do love that the level of detail goes that far. To be a little more on-topic, I really would like to see Shroud of Saints do a little more sometimes. If it somehow scaled with your natural refresh rate I think I'd be happy. I bet it'd be too good then, though. Really? Damn that explains all those squishy summoner at level 45 in the Howling Eye without their AF that keep dying.
  10. Well, you can easily end up being able to summon Titan-Egi before facing Titan and Garuda-Egi before Garuda.
  11. I doubt there will be a Shiva Egi yet. They may add one in 4.0 or even just do it as an optional reskin of one of the others. but I doubt they will change their formula of job quest every 5 levels, or add a second level 50 one. I don't think that once you buy Heavensward you can already level to 60, otherwise the quests between 2.0 and 3.0 would be too easy. I think there will be something similar to the Limit Break quests from FFXI. So this is how I think new job quests will be: - Level 50 quest, requires you to have completed 2.55 MSQ. Unlocks new skill and allows you to level to 60. - Level 55 quest, unlocks new skill. - Level 60 quest, unlocks new skill and (probably) gives you AF2.
  12. Seriously. Tri-Disaster has such a BADASS animation with cool, mysterious visual/sound effects! And then, I saw what little effect it had, and I was all "Oh..." =( SO LAME! C'mon, SE! I do known SMNs are supposed to be getting Ramuh and Leviathan as Egis at some point in 3.0, but I don't know if that alone is really going to give the class the major "OOMPH" it needs to properly sparkle. I think they are getting Shiva-Egi too... I mean, come on, Shiva has been a summon in every game since she was introduced. They just didn't say it because at the time Shiva wasn't in the game yet. That would mean jobs get 3 new abilities instead of two. Maybe a level 50 quest only available after completing 2.55 MSQ, and then a level 55 and a level 60 quest. Also, Holmgang should have its cooldown lowered. I mean, it's meant to be MRD/WAR's version of Hallowed Ground, but it's vastly inferior and causes you to take way more damage than you should.
  13. Ophelie doesn't have preferences at all. The other character I'm working on (he doesn't even have a name yet, still waiting for Au Ra names ) would prefer bigger girls. Basically he would go Roegadyn > Highlander > Elezen > Au Ra > Midlander > Miqo'te. But in the end it's more about the kind of woman that can kick his ass.
  14. I really don't have any complaints about WAR. I think its a pretty great and versatile job. I pulled 400 dps in T13 the other night (had two VIT accessories on for HP) and I usually average about 300 dps while MTing with Defiance up in most non-Coil content, so I can't complain about their dps. And I self-healed myself through AK-HM last boss just rotating bloodbath, storm's path, and inner beast whenever up, thrill of battle, and second wind. I'd say WAR's pretty OP. They don't really need an off-Defiance stance as far as I'm concerned. And if you wanna really dps with WAR, go MRD and cross-class Straight Shot (for increase crit rate), Internal Release, Quelling Strikes, Raging Strikes, and Blood for Blood. The damage is pretty incredible. To be honest, the only ability I'd really like to have back from 1.0 is the old Riot Blade (I've NEVER needed the MP recovery it gives). Holy Succor is nice too but I'd really prefer just buffing our cross-classable Cure, and Outmaneveur is Bulwark+Shield Swipe. Also, I'd like to get back additional effects from gear. An Aegis Shield that doesn't block or reduce magic isn't an Aegis Shield.
  15. More MP conservation, Bards aren't always reliable. WHM: Mage's Ballad? BRD: fuck u it lowers my dmg :ccc Dis is true. ): I've gotten the timing down for most of the Raids, save Coil, but it's hairy a lot of the time... I always feel bad for my BRD friends when they come with me too. ;___; Actually, why not just improve BRD DPS, or keep it the same, so that they're more likely to run Mage's Ballad. That would make both casters and BRDs happy. Balance. If songs didn't lower DPS everyone would bring 3 BRDs and a DRG for Disembowel. Two Bards use Ballad and one uses Paeon, you've got a team with quite high DPS and that can fight forever.

  17. Well, I'd be more happy than anything if those roles fell apart. I'd like having more flexibility. Getting back on topic, PLD and SCH should be able to cross class Esuna. So Brayflox would be doable if there isn't a WAR or a WHM, and SCH could get something better than Leeches.
  18. I'd rather have the possibility to change gear mid-fight with macros like in FFXI. /micon "Sword Oath" /ac "Sword Oath" /gs change 1 /micon "Shield Oath" /ac "Shield Oath" /gs change 2 I don't think they'd let us do that because one could seemingly change classes/jobs in the middle of a fight (like in 1.0). Armory system has its pros and cons. ...they do let us repair in battle, which is nice. As far as changes I'd want to make, it'd be nice to see more advanced cross-classing. I mainly play SCH and WAR. It'd be really cool to be able to summon Eos or something as a WAR, even if her healing sucked. You can change gear in duty as long as it doesn't change you to another class/job... Just let us do that in battle.

  20. Do you feel your favourite class/job is too weak right now? Then tell us how would you change it. I'd love to change GLA/PLD a bit. - Increase their MND so Cure heals at least ~600 HP. It would make soloing FATEs and stuff so much easier. - Sword Oath: Increases damage received by 20%, while increasing damage dealt by 20% and decreasing enmity. (Making it our OT stance. The increase in damage received may seem bad, but considering how much defense we have it isn't as bad as Blood for Blood) - Spirits Within: Potency is fixed at 300, absorbs 100% of damage dealt as HP. (so we have something at least comparable to Inner Beast)
  21. I remember that one time... Party: Pay attention to the chat, we'll tell you if we need Tank LB Me: Sure *CoD almost dead, DPS starts charging LB* DPS: *annoying sound effects* GET READY FOR LEVEL 8 LIMIT BREAK (or something like that) Me: >limit break *uses Tank LB3* Party: *facepalm*
  22. I heard SMNs would like to have their Egi transform into a normal Primal, so I've got this idea 1) Summon Titan-Egi. 2) Charge and use LB3. 3) Titan-Egi becomes Titan EX. 4) /sit and look at the boss while it gets owned by Titan EX. 5) [insert boss' name here]: WTF lag
  23. I used to play NIN (before giving up because of the queues) and I know it uses Final Heaven as LB3, but so do MNK and DRG. I don't see your point.
  24. Yes, but I'm referring to the look. We were told that the 3rd Lv LBs will be getting an overhaul, giving each class its own look/effect. I'm putting money on that being the one for the Monk. Also if they become unique, maybe Monk will keep the name and everyone else will change. Just spit-balling really. They'll only change the look, probably. Except for BRD, it's probably getting some kind of overpowered AoE that works like Caster LB.
