  1. If someone actually puts some effort in leveling to 50 (which means, doing Roulettes everyday, keeping up with dungeons and guildhests, and doing FATEs while in queue), the only time you'd ever need to grind is between 46 and 49. And even that can be done in an afternoon. I just ran through the whole 2.0 MSQ with Ume, and it took me barely two weeks, playing 3 hours everyday, even considering the fact that she was supposed to be ah entirely different character at first, and thus I leveled her to 30 as an Archer, before picking up Rogue. I think making this even faster would just contribute to creating bad players.
  2. On a side note: If secondary stats on exploration gear are randomized, you may get accuracy on healer gear. REJOICE, DPS HEALERS!
  3. Ok. I usually play from around 4 PM to 7 PM GMT, plus from 9 PM to 12 PM on Saturdays, and from 8 AM to 11 AM on Sundays. I'll keep an eye out for you, I guess.
  4. Well, I meant a situation in which it's painfully obvious she would die. Like, she gets caught, fights, and is about to be defeated. In that case, she would be all like "Screw this, I quit."
  5. "We have a contract, then. You shall have your money's worth." Need a skilled assassin? A spy? A bodyguard? Your personal sidekick, servant, and/or dragon? Then look no further than Ume Kogane, a Doman shinobi who decided to put her skills to use as a sellsword and mercenary. She will be completely devoted to you, she will be your eyes and ears... as long as you pay her enough, that is. She can do one-off jobs, like killing a specific person, but I'm personally looking for long-term jobs, because... well, it's probably more RP than just a single job. She will work for anyone, as long as you have the coin, unless: 1) You're Garlean or allied to Garlemald. She hates them, like every Doman ever. 2) She risks dying. All the coin of Eorzea wouldn't make up for a premature death. That being said, uh... contact me, I guess? As of this post, patch 3.1 is coming and I need to do the new content in my main, but when I'm done with that, I'll be ready for RP.
  6. Wait, wait, wait. Haurchefaunt Greystone? What.
  7. Well, it -does- give some money, which is good, if you're like me and roulettes are 90% of your gil income.
  8. The "Song of the Zodiac Braves" is also a Thavnairian legend. That was cool. There are so many things that come from Thavnair... It's a shame we are unlikely to see more of it in the near future.
  9. I might be necroing this thread, but the exact same thing happened to me while leveling Ume. I guess I have to blame myself, though, I didn't want to grind to 45 and tried Garuda anyway. The lack of defense (Aerial Blast instantly killed me if the rocks were less than perfect), and around 20% damage less from me (no Huton and no Suiton+Sneak Attack) were more than enough for us to die overwhelmed by plumes post-Aerial Blast.
  10. ^ title. From what I observed from Thavnairian gear and items, it seems to be a Middle East-styled nation, but aside from that, I really don't know anything about it. Is there some more lore about it?
  11. During the week, I play 2-3 hours on EU timezone. But during the weekend, and while on vacation? I become Eorzean. REAL LIFE?! WHAT IS IT?! IS THAT SOMETHING YOU EAT?!
  12. Hmm? No. All but the chest piece is from the lvel 45 quests. So you can get headpiece, hands, legs and boots. According to the WHM quest, the quest rewards of gear is all Level 50. SO even if Madda did get them, it'd be useless. You get level 45 versions and 50 versions (since 3.0) Madda of everything except chest. Yes, so according to gamerescape, the 3.0 update changes to the Job quest gear is this: Previously: Lvl 45 Job quest will give you Head, Wrist, Pants, Boots gear that you can wear at lvl 45. (ilvl 50). Lvl 50 Job quest would give you lvl 50 (ilvl 55) Chest Piece. Now: Lvl 45 Job quest gives you lvl 45 and lvl 50 Head, Wrist, Pants, boots (lvl 50 gear is ilvl 90). (8 pieces total) Lvl 50 Job quest gives you lvl 50 Chest Pieces (ilvl 55, ilvl 90) (2 pieces total) I can confirm this, because I was a PLD when getting Isaulde through the MSQ and the gear rewards were like this, except that you get also a ilvl90 belt as a reward for the level 50 quest. On a side note, giving both the ilvl55 and the ilvl90 chest on the same quest makes the ilvl55 chest -completely- useless. Not even entry-level gear, just... useless. Which is stupid.
  13. Yeah, getting to 45 to get the AF gear is imperative to not die to Aerial Blast (unless you're the tank, but in that case you'd need the AF to not die from every other attack). Also, the 45 ability can be really helpful too, depending on the job (SCH and Sacred Soil, NIN and Jin mudra, WHM and Holy, and others).
  14. Have you ever given to one of your characters a name with an actual meaning that is somehow related to them? For example, my latest character is a Doman ninja, but she puts ninjutsu and her other skills to use as a mercenary. Thus, I called her Ume Kogane. Well, I'm not really an expert on japanese, but Ume means "plum", which is considered as a symbol of devotion, and Kogane, among its multiple meanings, can mean "small sum of money". So, her name -could- be interpreted as "devotion for a small sum of money", which I think it's fitting for a mercenary.
  15. For the short time I played a mage, I preferred to go with a FFXI-like terminology, and say Fire III, Thundaga II, Blizzara IV, and stuff. Even enemies do that, sometimes.
  16. Quick + Master Scroll + Fixed Dice and a good dose of luck.
  17. More "derp" than "dark" because Warriors don't use Steel Cyclone on single targets since 1.x. What a scrub.
  18. We see the Bard and the RoePal here. I'm a little interested. I can't tell if shading or not, the Gallant Surcoat looks like it was dyed black. It looks like we are going to get a Warrior of L v Darkness thing? Or perhaps they all turned after the Calamity?? Not sure. But the 3.1 MSQ promo art/End of Era RoePal has the regular Gallant Surcoat while this one is dyed. Apparently they are 1.0 mini games. Miner and Botanist ones. Oh, I didn't see the Bard there. Well, that pretty much confirms it. There are more than one Warriors of Darkness, and they're the CG chars.
  19. A paladin of Darkness maybe? Now I want to see the Dark Knight of Light though.
  20. 6:45 was that... Solkzagyl? Anyway... CHOO CHOO HYPE TRAIN. EDIT: Nah, that can't be him. No moustache. He awfully looks like the Roegadyn from the End of an Era CGI, though... Mh. We see the Midlander Warrior, supposedly the Warrior of Darkness... what if he isn't the only one? Are we gonna see the Miqo'te Bard? The Elezen Black Mage? The Lalafell White Mage?
  21. Au Ra Warriors though... Especially in AF1 so they get 4 horns. I mean, come on. 4 badass looking horns. They might not be Roegadyns, but damn they look good as Warriors. There is zero lore to support them though, technically any trying for it should be complete green noobs. Being as Warrior training for all races just opened up aster the HW Warrior quest line. If you want to be a right proper Warrior it's Hellsguard or go home. Everyone else should either be a.) struggling to learn it, or B.) Had a Hellsguard teacher, and been on Eorzea a while so that disqualifies 90% of Au Ra I haven't said it's the best choice, lore-wise. I just stated they look cool. And it -can- be done, anyway. That Au Ra could have had an Hellsguard teacher. He/she could have found those "writings" Curious Gorge and Broken Mountain speak about during the quests. He/she could have found a Soul of the Warrior. He/she could come from a custom tribe which established themselves for some times in Alabathia's Spine, near the Hellsguard tribe. He/she could be an adventurer who went by himself to Alabathia's Spine. The possibilities are endless. And calling someone a noob just because he/she plays an unusual job/race combination would be stupid. That part was just cheeky snark. As long as someone has a story sure I'd buy that.. though one of them are stretching and you'd have to have a really well thought out story to pull it off, and likely get others to play along with. (such as the custom tribe.) Also as mentioned previously just finding a stone would be bad. you'd likely just end up a murder machine. The Soul Stone part was just to list an example. Also, the fact that the WoL can be a Warrior doesn't mean he is the only non-Hellsguard one. I mean, the WoL becomes one just because Curious Gorge looks at him fighting against crazed Archelons, and decides to train. Just about anyone could end up in a similar situation.
  22. You play a Warrior you should be a Roegadyn by default especially because Savage. Unrelated but kind of related.. I have a hard time taking any warrior's that aren't Roes seriously. Au Ra Warriors though... Especially in AF1 so they get 4 horns. I mean, come on. 4 badass looking horns. They might not be Roegadyns, but damn they look good as Warriors. 24. But what if they -do- get a soulstone but don't suddenly learn everything? I mean, look at Isaulde. She has a Soul of the Dark Knight, yeah. But she's been training for 12 years, 15 if we count pre-DRK training, and she's not done with it yet. She has a Soul Crystal, yes, but it's to avoid the lore about DRKs backlashing and saying that no Crystal = no Dark Knight. Just like what happened with BLM. Also, having a Soul Crystal doesn't necessarily mean that character is good at everything.
