Lucaell: "[slakoth] lolls around and sleeps for more than twenty hours a day, which can makes those around it drowsy. Since it does not move very much, it does not need much food. It only eats three leaves each day. Its heart only beats once a minute. It is capable of regaining lost energy through use of its former signature move, Slack Off. Its nest does not change during its entire life, but can travel far by swimming in rivers. It lives in forests.

Anytime, my good sir. I'm used to such threads, or rather, was used to them--BACK IN YE OLE TIMES WHEN I LURKED FORUMS. I'll probably ask for people to draw my alts next time. I encourage a LOT of people to use these :^) I had my FFXIV characters /literally/ drawn twice. I've been here for quite a while now so I'm like... dang man... that's kinda sad...

balmung Smuggler/Seafarer Looking for Connections!
Meishali replied to Gene Treno's topic in Chronicled Connections
Hey Gene! I'm currently actively looking for players in my timezone AND sailor/marine characters dealing in very shady business, so you might just do the trick (especially if you like Limsan merchants crafting and selling firearms). My wiki is not up to date, but contains some good information to get a general idea my character. Here is my old hooks thread. Might help you too. See you soon if you're interested! :cactuar: -
Awee! Thank you so much!

Woah! Thank you so much for hosting this! If I had money, I'd do things like that, too... :cactuar: Here's my list! 1. A Thavnairian Bustle 2. A pair of Music Boxes 3. A Fat Cat Minion 4. An Oriental Bathtub 5. A set of South Seas Chair and Couch 6. A Falconer's Shirt (Dyable) 7. A Company Tabard Good luck everyone!

Thank the Twelve I made a mini-summary of why the Miqo'te are a cat-like race. :dodgy: No, Valence, it's not fanservice. They are a feline race. That is incontestable, no matter what you think, prefer, would like, and dislike about it. They have feline traits. And unlike "fanservice-y" races seen in anime and japanese pop culture in general I think they have more animalistic trait and were made that way 75% because the dev find it an interesting lore-dynamic. Imo. This thread is not the place to discuss it in my opinion, but I suggest you open a RP discussion thread about how the Miqo'te aren't "cat-like" if this is something you think is very important to discuss. I'll gladly join you there. I'm going to hop out from the thread and unsubscribe. I want to see more headcanons from Naoh'ra though!

On a more serious note, let's keep in mind that this thread is a headcanon thread. What does the Urban Dictionary tells us about headcanons? "Used by followers of various media of entertainment, such as television shows, movies, books, etc. to note a particular belief which has not been used in the universe of whatever program or story they follow, but seems to make sense to that particular individual, and as such is adopted as a sort of "personal canon"." That's it! It's just what OP is 'thinking about'. The problem is that with headcanons people fear that if most players accept it, acknowledge it and play it, they might have to roleplay it as well because of peer pressure even if they don't like it. But it isn't true! Remember, you roleplay what you roleplay, and regardless of what you do, you'll always find people to play with you. People posting headcanons here (and OP does it pretty often last time I checked?) just put them there for other to experiment if they're interested. I know that posting on the RPC anything at all is asked to be whipped by unhappy, frustrated people behind the screen, but I don't think OP asked or expected short comments such as "Miqo'te aren't actually cats". (Hello Warren) There's a lot of stigma around Miqo'te, but I think to say that this might push the whole 'miqo'te /ARE/ cat people, look at me, I say NYA and make cat puns!' kind of crap is going a little too far. I think it's viable and makes perfect sense, as Miqo'te well... Have also culturally a very... Cat-like behaviour? > They're territorial, careful, and barely mix with the other races. > Males are often breeders with multiple partners. > Males fight for dominance. > Female hunters. Hell ye. > They have powerful legs and do pretty cool-ass jumps for humanoids. > By the Twelve, look at the way the males stand and sit. > Spitting and hissing sounds in names, probably maintaining the idea that some more traditional miqo'te can actually growl and make really really feline like growls, and spits. I think it's pretty cool as it makes Miqo'te even more far away from the other humanoids, and makes sense if people don't actually like them/estrange them from society. I RP a fifty-something Seeker who used to be a Nunh for quite a while, he can barely read and write, is gruffly as hell. "Gruffly dad is an adventurer" could be his character dynamic. If OP says it's mostly inspired by Lion-like behaviour, I'd say it's even more acceptable for traditional Seekers... Like my old man. Keepers being more like wolves, right? In any case I hope more headcanons happen for other races because I'm a little disappointed to see that Miqo'te have the richest stuff, although, let's be honest, half the people who play them are not into actual RPing but into cybersex. And like my good friend said on skype earlier, "as soon as the au ra came out, half of the miqo'te race changed". I do wish Miqo'te were 'uglier' sometimes. But SE can't make ugly people, it's scientifically proven. TL;DR MEISHALI YOU TALK TOO MUCH, NICE HEADCANON!

I try to avoid posting in art threads myself, tbh, but... You artworks have so much character, and as another person said here, the Kate Beaton touch is perhaps the greatest thing. I saw that sketch you did of Isla and I love it sooo much. My doodle-like style is far from being as efficient as yours, but I'm definitely going to practice. What are the other artists you like? Maybe I didn't read the thread thoroughly enough (I'm going to do it again and edit this post accordingly after posting, I think), but do you have a blog, or journal, or even a deviantART? I'd really like to follow you. Even just a portfolio, or anything. God I'm such a slut for art.:cactuar:

Ah, yes, ye ole 'shoot, I hope this thread has never been discussed before' that gives me an ulcer. Whatever, here are my thoughts. One of the things I love the most about MMO RPing is the real-time, open-world RP sequences you get out of it. This means RPing with countless different people, and being able to meet so many more people! But naturally, diversity implies things you might not like. Now, nobody say 'bad roleplayers' or the will get punched in the guts. Paradoxically, I know bad roleplayers (ow! my stomach!) have called other roleplayers 'bad roleplayers'. So it's, well, a very, very subjective thing. I might be someone's 'bad roleplayer'... Be it casual chat, freeform action, a story plot-twist you've been working on for months, roleplay is collaborative writing. Two sides. Ping pong. You give, you receive, and this until exhaustion. Sometimes you receive a little more, because your friend is amazing. Sometimes you receive a little less, because your friend is tired. Either way, you enjoy it. Now, what I want to talk about to day is when your receive less from a stranger, or a new acquaintance. I'm talking about these long, tedious roleplays when people write to say nothing. I am not talking here about people who do one-liners or do not like paragraph roleplay, what I am addressing here is people not giving. To illustrate my thoughts, I'm going to write a very easy sample if it's not clear. Lit-RP is nice, but most people can not read thoughts. Although it is 'enriching', it still can give little things to reply too if your partner isn't providing enough hooks. Flavor is nice, but make sure to bring a dish in, too... I am personally exhausted by this kind of situation. I very, very often push it forward, and try to give as much elements as I can. I also draw characters in roleplay, make sure everyone gets to talk in moderately sized RP groups (3-6 characters), but it's not just me. My friends do it too! As it should be. But there are times when the synergy isn't quite there, and you have to push forth about SIX posts to worm material out of the somebody. At this point, it feels like you're either RPing with a wall, or RPing with yourself, or RPing /at/ somebody which is probably the worst feelings in the world. For me, at least. I don't want to be left out when I roleplay, so I try never let people feel left out. But in the same way, I except people to do the same for me! So I kept on pushing... Until a few months ago. I decided that I did not have the time anymore, so I usually do not seek more role play sessions with some people (even though I probably should). I'm not being a dick about it, I just kinda disappear. Problem is that people usually want to RP more, and are always up to do it. I've been honest with most of them, but in the end, they always get really, really offended. Because yeah. Some people don't realize it. And I guess it's fine, in a way. But yes, that could thought of as a RP standard I expect and want from people. I think it's good to have RP standards. Here's a video about it if you're interested. The thing is that RP is a hobby, my hobby. It's something supposed to be fun, you know? It shouldn't be tiring. I should be able to do it and enjoy it the way I want to enjoy it, if it doesn't bother people I'm RPing with. In the same way, even if the 'lack of provided material' is IC (the character isn't talkative, for instance), I think it shouldn't be an excuse. Characters who are not sociable can be tricky to RP, but I tend to think that as a roleplayer, you are good when you still manage to keep the collaboration flowing. I might make another thread to complete this one, as I think some characters may be fit for a book, but not to RP... But that is a different matter! Now discuss: - How do you handle these situations? Are you patient? - Am I a little too ungrateful? I shouldn't ask for 'that much' from people? - How do you make sure your RP never runs out of 'meat'/material to play with? Do you bring in new items, like a Limsan axe? (I personally like to give my characters different moods from time to time, headcanon happenings, to get new things to discuss. Though the previous RPs I had with other characters are usually enough) - Got RP standards? What are they? What do you want/expect from people RPing with you? That's a long thread. I apologize. Typos might happen. :cactuar:

That was not my point. My point was, really, to stay in the thread's lane, things that appear insignificant to some people can be really annoying once they pile up on the other side. If I am having a bad day, some guy running into me because his first reflex is not to step aside as some kind of minor, petty vendetta against other people who 'neglected' him in his life, yeah. It sucks. I think it's kind of stupid, useless, and at the end of the day, makes everyone a bit more salty, when all it takes is one step to the left, or the right. Edit: I do like it when people hold the door for me. All genders! I hold the door myself quite a lot. It's nice to be nice to other people, but I think it's not your type. Do not brag about being the person we're complaining about in this thread! Consider using the no-mods-land for that. :cactuar: Talking about steps on the left and the right, have you ever had this sad, sad thing when you run into people without bumping, and you both go in the same direction? MORE THAN TWICE? I hate this.
-
In life, you're often given two choices. One of them is often being the better person. It is a bit weird to know that you're so upset over two-three people who refused to move/didn't notice, that you will literally bump into people. If I had you do that to me IRL (which apparently, you wouldn't, because women are weak and god forbid you hit one of them with your shoulder ALTHOUGH they're being completely rude by not stepping aside when you're walking in their direction), I think I would stop you and ask for an apology. And maybe apologize myself if I didn't notice. This said, no callout, since I usually stop people in the street who bump into me without apologizing. I rarely start fights, I just politely ask for an apology. It happens a lot, and most of the time, it's from people who know exactly where they're going. If they didn't notice, most of the time, they apologize, though. People being rude isn't cool, I guess. It's super hard already to live in crowded places, sometimes...

I am absolutely surprised nobody relates to Vyce? I'm the same, tbh. If you guys ever get to live in Paris, don't stand on the left side without moving, be it stairs (>moving slowly in this case) or escalators. People will lynch you. We are particularly salty about "moving" etiquette, as Paris is quite busy, and people are quite salty. Always. Walk. To the right. Let people run. Maybe it's important, maybe they have to. Let them be hurt, yeah? As long as they don't die. In our metro, we literally have super big alleys with big signs saying "STAY ON YOUR RIGHT" because, sadly, common sense is not quite common. I personally hate running into people when I have to get somewhere real fast!:cactuar: Also, I am never late. I just run to be in early.

Your Character's Story Role In a Final Fantasy Game
Meishali replied to Sylentmana's topic in Fun Prompts
The Bard. A mysterious side companion you get really early on in game to introduce the "healer" role, with minor healing/buff spells and maybe an esuna. She does shit damage, but has really good character banter during cutscenes. As the game's story unfolds, she's probably going to reveal herself as some kind of royalty or nobility not wishing to go back to their kingdom, but they'll do it anyway. For the greater good. Not that it matters much, because you stopped playing with her when she reached level 23. See: Although seen/or mentioned again through disc 2 and disc 3 in minor roles, if you really want her back as a Red Mage, you can do a super secret side-quest come disc 4. Getting her to level is hard af, but come level 60+, she basically is one of the most OP chars in the static. People get really annoyed when she is praised on forums, because most people don't even bother level her or fetch her in said mini sidequest. She will probably be the character that saves you from the side Ultima boss fight. She'll survive with 1pv because of a secret item preventing one-shots, cast a shit attack, do a critical, and kill the game's hardest boss you've been on for hours just like that. Nice thread, OP. -
balmung Joint RP Search: A Hunter, A Bard, A Priest
Meishali replied to Meishali's topic in Chronicled Connections
Wee, new people! :cactuar: I personally would love to meet your character. Lucile Lucaell really doesn't have enough Limsan contacts (also, roes are awesome) I could do all sort of things w/! No spoiler material yet, but maybe later. We can discuss it in game. I'll notify you when I'm online, so we can set up a meeting. Feel free to send me/the three accounts a PM if you're online too, so I/we can add you! I'm logging right away on Lucaell myself. All characters can hang around Ul'dah, so it should be easy to run into your char! Now, to think about hooks... -

This thread isn't a crush callout thread, and while I don't see why it wouldn't become one, it's kay, but please keep in mind the questions I put in the first post, that'd be like, supah nice. :cactuar: (or at least elaborate why these people are people ur crushin on u feel)

I hope this thread doesn't derail, then. I always give solid questions so people keep in mind the focus of my threads.:cactuar: I'm an alt juggler kind of roleplayer myself, I think I couldn't deal with having only one character that isn't flexible when it comes to meeting other characters. Since I have more than one characters, it gives me more than one RP route, and it gives me even more goodies plot potential...And even more RP crushes. Save me from my misery. When you say that tho, it means you've tried RPing with them? This isn't a problem Ojene's had so much as her WoW incarnation did- she was so closed from people, sometimes it was hard to make new RP connections. Folks would try to interact with her! But more often than not, she'd push them away with an alienating aura. Espeeeecially if she was on the job. I've never been good at keeping up with alts, so... this meant my RP opportunities were a bit on the limited side. This is not quite the thread to discuss this (and I might make one sooner or later), but I personally separate "characters" and "RP characters". While I do make the characters I want to make for RP, I always keep in mind that RP is collaborative writing--and it's hard to collaborate if your character pushes everything and everyone away. I would never get a closed character as my main for this specific reason, or if I do, I usually outbalance it with a "carrot" that makes them come out of their tower, should my RP partners find it! Well, most people state it, but it's true. Sending a civilized message and asking for RP usually works, as simple as that. And it's actually quite gr8. :cactuar:
