Xaela Family/Clan: Tumet - Always open!
Griffith! replied to Michikyou's topic in Chronicled Connections
I'm not on Balmung yet. I'll be past 15 by the time the three day wait for world transfer is up. Y'know. Probably. 1-15 is super easy anyway. Pretty sure I can do it in a couple hours. -

I just took the name of Arslan Khan. Although, he was Turkish, I suppose, not Mongolian, having been prince of the Karluks in about 1200 AD. The Karluks were conquered and folded into the Mongolian empire by the first emperor, Ghengis Khan, who bestowed the title Arslan the Sart to Arslan Khan, effectively naming him a son of the emperor. So, Arslan is a Mongolian name, after a fashion. That's my reasoning for using the name, though it may not be 100% lore compliant. I suppose I could change it, though. Re-rolling is easy; I've only done like, three quests. -

I'll join, though it'll be a few days before I can transfer a character to the server. If then. Congestion is fun, neh? Either way, I was thinking of the name Arslan. Arslan Tumet. -

HAHAHA. What, not a joke? -
Naw, it's far more likely we'll get more of compilation Cloud, rather than the original direction of the character. There will be brooding and expressionlessness. All of his dorkiness will be lost in time. Well no, Cloud throughout the whole game is having an identity crisis. He thinks he is someone else, he thinks he is a man named Zack (but with his own name). He is a little confused on the whole thing due to the maco poisoning. Crisis Core explains a lot of his Sort of but not? I mean, yeah, it was an identity crisis, and he did totally take most of his image of a Soldier from Zack and fill himself into Zack's role in the events of the story, but he didn't actually think he was Zack. He'd forgotten all about Zack. His memories of childhood were pretty complete, it was just everything about his return to Nibelheim he'd skewed in his head. His personality was a mix of his own and Zack's and his own (mostly incorrect) idea of how an elite Soldier would act. But he didn't actually think he was Zack. he just thought he did the things Zack did in Nibelheim.

I literally just bought the game, too. 1-20? No problem - worst part was just getting a character on Balmung. Then I had to wait a few days before advancing, because, well, Free Trial level cap. But then the early access starts and it takes a few hours just to get in game. And heavens forfend you get disconnected, because then it can be a few more hours to get back in. And somehow I've still managed 12 levels in just a few days. ...I have way too much free time. -
Y'know, I never really got the whole "Cloud is emo" thing either. I mean, he was a dork. Seriously, re-read that dialogue, and tell me Cloud wasn't just a bad Soldier cosplayer. He's kind of cartoonish early on, with his whole "I'm a cool mercenary, I don't care about anything" attitude. And Luca was the subject of an awesome boss-fight, but he wasn't that great a character. He was basically just one of those blandly evil-for-evil's-sake bad guys. The real villain in that game was so much better it's not even funny.

You know what just occurred to me? Minigames. How much different is the Golden Saucer going to be? Are we going to have the same handful of minigames or are they going to give us a whole new batch? I hope snowboarding returns. I wasted way too much time playing that crap.

Or, more likely, I just got extremely lucky. Edit - Here's a gripe that has nothing to do with the log-in issues: I wish the Heavensward content were more accessible. Because I just counted, and I have 202 quests to go before I can even access Ishgard. I know a ton of this game was end game content, but doesn't it seem odd to anyone but me that all of the new content, save a few odds and ends like the new race, is stacked up at the end of everything else? Looking at the exp rates and quest rewards, I think I'll be level sixty before I even make it to Ishgard. It just feels like I'm being penalized for not having been playing already. Also, it seems odd to me that to unlock the new jobs - which start out already half-way to the current level cap - you have to have already hit the level cap in another class. It would have made more sense - to me, at least - if they became available at level 30 rather than at level 50. Unless they are just that much better than the standard Jobs. I dunno, I won't get to use one for, like, a month minimum. But that's enough whining from me, I guess. -

So my friend came in with a huge box of Popeyes chicken and a watermelon. We took a break from failing to log in to make fun of him for being a stereotype, and when I came back I logged right in with barely a thirty second wait. The lesson here is Squeenix wants you to be racist. -

In my experience? Yes. But since it won't let me in with moving numbers either, it's hardly conclusive. -

Sorry! If it helps, I was trying for a few hours ever since I got home, and only managed to get through right before bed. At least I'm not on the servers anymore so hopefully that will be one more potential spot for you to log in..? Anyway, good luck and good night. I'm just playin'. I have no foes, save the Empire! And error 2002, apparently. -

The queue has stopped at 365 and isn't dropping anymore. I'm guessing this is 2002 time. Yup. Booted. -

Don't let your guard down. i was in queue for twenty minutes - numbers dropping and everything - before I hit another 2002 error and got booted. I got down to 274 from 770 or so and then the loading screen appeared! Huzzah! It's too bad I have to be going to bed within the hour... You realize this makes you my eternal foe, neh? Jealousy is an ugly thing, and I'm just so full of it. Because, see, I have all night to play, and can't get past loading the data center. -

I logged to finally sleep and now I can't - just, can not at all - connect to the data center. NOthing doing, guys, it won't let me in. -
Alright then, this is probably the story and theme I'll go with, then. I might not limit it to just Miqo'te either, though I'd like the Miqo'te tribal aspect to be at the center of the group. Especially since the tribal aspect of the race is so commonly ignored.

You can like and dislike whatever you want; this is just flat not true. Kefka is a psychopath through and through. He's deranged from the very first meeting with him. Additionally, when he wants to obtain the power of the Goddess he, well, does so. And then destroys the known world and pulls it down into a ruinous cycle that would have eventually killed all life on the planet unless he was stopped. Sephiroth is much more collected, even at his worst moments. He succeed at summon Meteor...... and that's about it. Oh, he killed the President and Aeris. But we see his decent into madness, we know why he is the way he is. He's a hero that falls once the truth of his existence is finally understood. They're entirely different characters in every way save the "Kill all humans" aspect of their ultimate plans. Really, the only similarity between the two is the whole experimental super soldier thing.

I was actually joking with a friend about tigersharks. Catfish came up too.

Okay, so there are numerous reasons my Temple Knights idea didn't fly - all of which are perfectly reasonable and detailed in another thread. That's cool, I'll just come back to it later. So I had this other idea while hanging out in a huge crowd of Miqo'te in Limsa Lominsa. What about a group of Miqo'te that are both a tribe and a pirate crew? Like the tribe lives on and crews a ship, with the Captain being the tribal leader. The tribe could be the Sr' (sooruh) or Shark tribe. Anyone done anything like that before? Are there any lore specific reasons it wouldn't work?

Could be. I lack the skill set to verify it, so I think I'll try to roll on the datacenter I can connect to and see if I can't play there. EDIT - I tried again and made it as far as the queue again. 293 people in queue. -
Yeah, it's always basically. "I'm evil, so I'll TAKE OVER THE WORLD! Keheheheheh!" Which is pretty thin, really. At least Kefka and Sephiroth had the whole driven insane thing to keep them from being completely flat characters.
