  1. Seems weird though, since XIV has like, way more content than XIII, but doesn't take up as much space on my hard-drive.
  2. 20 gigs is about how much space the game is going to take, total, I think. 4.3 for the expansion, and my install folder weighs in at 14.5 pre-update. Could be wrong though.
  3. Starting next week, though, I plan to start grinding hard till I hit Ishgard.* I have plenty of take-out menus. It'll be a breeze. *dig that rhyme.
  4. Hour and half, two hours. Not bad, but not speedy. It's the country - I'm lucky it's that fast.
  5. It's in the right ballpark. The website told me 5, so that's pretty close. It's essentially just a very large update to begin with. All the core functionality is already there.
  6. Well, it was recently pointed out that nobody ever seems racist in FF14, and while I view that as a good thing (having run into plenty of antisemitism is real life), I decided to go ahead and work it into my character. Playing out negative traits is rewarding in it's own way. Actually, I used to play a necromancer that hated elves. He traveled with one annoyingly perky elf named Nunally for years. He referred to her exclusively as 'breed' and derided her constantly. And then he showed his hand by detonating a soul-bomb on himself to give his party time to escape. His death paid off in the end, as he was able to peel himself off the Wall of the Faithless in the abyss just long enough to drag the villain back through a portal to hell. His name was Kashan Krowes, and he is one of my all-time favorite characters. Of course, that was in a radically different game, but it's a fun anecdote nonetheless. For me, anyway.
  7. Just makes me a little gladder that all I ever play is tanks. Paladins weren't nerfed. (You know, in this game.)
  8. According to my exhaustive (spurious) research, the expansion is about five gigs total. Or that's what the website says when I checked the requirements.
  9. 30 gigs in addition to the 20 we already have? Or the 20 we have plus 10? Because it seems crazy the expansion would be so much larger than the main game.
  10. I... actually have work to do this weekend. Commission, ugh. Freelance is no way to live. But since I can't actually access most of the expansion content yet, I'll live.
  11. Yeah, it's a small side quest, finding her in each town before the event itself. I have the PC version, which is... well, better in most respects to the 360 version, too.
  12. Welcome. I never saw much RP in ToR during my brief tenure with it. But then, I only played for about two months after launch. Good on you there. I, too, am relatively new. Still lower leveled than you though. I'm working on it. Hope we meet in game, and if so, I apologize in advance for my blatant Miqo'te racism. ...Okay, it's not racism. It's annoyance. Generalized, directionless annoyance aimed at an entire people. Not the same thing right? Right? Guys? Where are you going? *yes, I formatted this post for one stupid gag at the end. I regret nothing.
  13. I didn't mind the groups moving on their own so much, although I do hate being intercepted. I agree wholeheartedly about their decision to kill a central character and immediately replace her with an identical version sans hat, though. On the whole, though, I enjoyed Last Remnant - especially the really odd races. I mean, four-armed cat men? Who comes up with this stuff?
  14. I am absolutely certain I'm not the first person to do this, and not even well. Just... so confident. But I made some of my favorite characters in the benchmark because... look, I'm just super bored, alright? First, Rush Sykes. His exact hair was already in the game, so my brain went "what the hell?" I tried anyway. Orran Durai, Final Fantasy Tactics. Hair similar to his was right there, and so... yeah. It's dumb. Squall Leonhart. There was the scar, and the hair was similar... I have no justification, really. This one was cheating. The only thing I changed from the stupid Squall one was the face. Every other option is exactly the same. Tiz Arrior, Bravely Default. It's not actually Ramza Beoulve. It's Marten Arkwright. But some of the people in my last dungeon run were making fun of me, and this is what they compared me to. Because... i dunno, blondes in blue armor? Whatever. So, I'm clearly taking my break from the game well. How's everyone else?
  15. I can't do anything until my check comes in. But... Friday. I should have the full game, Heavensward included, Friday.
  16. As far as I know, you'll be able to log in just fine, you just won't have access to any of the Heavensward content. You'll be able to play the 2.0 content just fine. ... Or that's the way it usually works, anyway.
  17. So I know that I, personally, won't be able to even access Ishgard until the end of the month at the very earliest, but I was thinking about starting up an FC built around being Temple Knights - specifically, those charged with the duty of protecting holy sites like temples or the Guardian Diety stones scattered around the world, or at least those that are just generally not in Ishgard. So, I figure the Ishgardian Temple Knights might look down on the group for not being Ishgardian - we would be taking all comers, after all, not just Elezen and Hyur. So right off the bat, we're the Temple Knight version of B(ad) Company - all misfits and undesirables. I was thinking about ranks and organisation, and I know we'd have a commander, which would be *ahem*, me. But beyond that, what should the organisational breakdown of such a group be? Military? Religious? I was also thinking about special posts outside the main structure - we'd have a Company Inquisitor, for instance. Probably a priest. What are those called? Chaplains? So does this sound like something anyone'd be interested in? Because my fall-back was basically just RPing a younger version of Cidolfus Orlandeau from FFT (which, let's be honest, I may end up doing anyway.)
  18. UlnTh1usLC0 ... I know. Oddly poppy tune for someone like me. Secretly, beneath my stodgy demeanor, I am a nineteen year old party girl. :cactuar:
  19. Combatant characters who aren't good at combat? It seems like every other lancer, gladiator, marauder and dragoon is super elite or teh bestest evah. You almost never see a struggling soldier or a fresh recruit Red Badge-ing it up out there. Just lots and lots of hyper-competency. I know it's a power trip thing - who wants to be weak, after all? - but it does stretch suspension of disbelief when the sixteen year old paladin is just totally undefeatable with a long string of victories against unrealistically large and rare adversaries. Like dragons.
  20. I knew. I frickin' knew and I clicked anyway. Why would I do that?
  21. Welcome! I, too, am relatively new. Lets get along. 8-)
  22. What do they mean by "Emotes where female characters other than lalafells crouch have been adjusted."? ...Was there a problem there before?:?
  23. Airships is what I've been waiting for. Why else would my name be Arkwright? EDIT: also glad there're more hair options. What can I say, I'm vain.
  24. I might be in the minority here, because I hope they actually do bring in stuff like Genesis and Deepground as a kind of expansion on the original when they do the remake. The only way I'll give a damn about the expanded universe is if there is some evidence of it existing in the original material. I'm not saying they should shoe-horn everything in, and I hope to god it doesn't derail the plot if it is included, but as an optional sidequest that actually builds on the the crap they introduced in the prequel? Absolutely.
