So, I have an idea for an ex Wailer character who would also be a former Wildling. I've been doing a lot of research on Greenwrath, woodsin, and Wildlings, and have noted that nearly all the sources of information we have about these are 1.0 quests. It seems that in 1.0, once a person became a Wildling, there was really no going back from that, except I think for one instance when the Elementals took a number of people, but then released them after the Padjals prayed to them. But what about now? What happened to the Wildlings that were running around the Twelvewood when the Calamity occurred? We know that the Elementals were severely weakened by the Calamity, and going by the 2.0 Shroud quests, there's no reason to believe that they're still claiming a bunch of people and turning them into Wildlings. Is it possible that someone who became a Wildling at some date prior to the Calamity could have been released by the Elementals after they were weakened? As I said, my character would have been a Wood Wailer who ended up in a situation where he became so overloaded with woodsin that his mask could no longer protect him (that is why Wailers wear the mask, yes? And I read that the masks can shatter if they absorb too much woodsin), and the wood claimed him. Sometime after the Calamity, he would wake up somewhere with very little of his memory intact. I know something like this occurs to an NPC in 1.0, but I believe that character still belongs to the Elementals, whereas I want my character to be freed from their influence (at least for the most part). So, does this sound at all plausible? Not that this is not an excuse to make my character an IC white mage, or anything like that. He's just a humble lancer.

Agreed. All my RP characters have undergone changes in appearance and nearly all of them have had complete name/identity/backstory changes too (some multiple times). If something about your character just isn't working anymore, starting over can be be exciting, and it can make RP fun again.

I have a very studious Duskwight too, and I'm sure he'd love to meet Leonnaux! Michaux's RP profile is on my tumblr. I also have an Ishgardian Duskwight, Bastien Renardier (or just Bast) who is an information broker with a very particular interest in the echo. Maybe he could meet Leonnaux somehow and start to suspect the truth about his gift? That could make for an interesting long-term plot, perhaps. I'm an officer in a small but active RP FC. I met my ex-husband through FFXI, which, eh. Mixed blessing there. As Martiallais mention, I've gotten to meet him, and we're going to meet up again to see Suicide Squad together. And in November I'm flying to New York to meet two (maybe 3!) of my FC friends, so I'm really looking forward to that. No FanFest for me this year, but maybe next year? There are so many Balmung peeps I want to meet.

Hi there, and welcome! What do you mean by a "mutt" Miqo'te? Do you mean half Sun Seeker and half Moon Keeper? Because yes, that is totally possible. Other combinations, such as Miqo'te/Hyur, also seem to be possible. There is an Elezen/Hyur biracial NPC, for instance. One thing to keep in mind if you want to play a character of mixed race (or even, in some cases, mixed clan) is that they are likely to face discrimination. But they do exist in the lore. Edit: I had forgotten that there is a Hyur/Miqo'te NPC too. So that's definitely a thing, even though it's rare. Not that that was your question...

Roelle sounds like sooo much fun! I would love to RP with you sometime! I have a very long character list (see my signature), but the two that get the most love are Solenne and Michaux. I think it could be a lot of fun for either of them to meet Roelle (especially Solenne, because intelligence work is something she has a lot of experience with). It also sounds like Roelle might be a great fit for Mythril Wings. We're an active RP FC (our official RP nights are Saturday and Sunday, but to be honest, at least some of us are RPing almost every night), and our theme, if we have a theme, is that our company is a haven for anyone who doesn't have anywhere else to go. But we're also adventurers, mercenaries, and yes, even treasure hunters. Our characters get into a whole lot of trouble while ostensibly trying to do a little good in the world, but they're not exactly fine, upstanding citizens for the most part. We have a lot of mages and scholars in the company, but we recruit all sorts. A jaded, swashbuckling private investigator would probably feel right at home. Plus, more Elezen ladies please!

Solenne uses a combination of knife play and umbral-aspected thaumaturgy in combat. She wields bone-hilted daggers set with gems that act as foci for her spells. When she starts casting, the temperature of the air around her plummets, and her blades, clothes, and even the ground under her feet have been known to frost over. Her signature spell encases her target in ice for several minutes. This more frequently results in death by suffocation than by hypothermia. She calls it her 'ice coffin' spell. Michaux is an archer, and he's a damn good one, but he often finds himself in close combat situations where his bow is mostly useless, assuming he even has it on him. (It's an awkward weapon to carry around all the time, so he often leaves it at home.) He carries knives but is not very skilled with them, so until recently he pretty much had to rely on dumb luck to get out of sticky situations. Now he also has magic to fall back on, but his aether reserves are fairly limited. Ardenoix is a classic knight with a sword and shield. And a few knives. And some poisons. And fire spells. And he's really not above strangling his victims with his bare hands, either. Honestly, Ardenoix doesn't care how he kills you. The point is that if he wants to, he probably will. Elinore has never technically been in combat. She's been close a few times, but she has used sleep, paralysis, or memory spells to disable her attackers. She is a precocious young mage with knowledge of a wide range of magical techniques, so she'll probably acquit herself well when she does eventually have to fight. Tianh punches things. Sometimes she uses fist weapons. Sometimes she uses her bare fists. Her favorite strategy is to bring the fight to the ground to eliminate any height advantage her opponent might have. Tatsu has very little combat experience. She is a young arcanist trainee with a whole lot to learn, but she can defend herself if she has to. Or more accurately, her carbuncle can defend her.

Realizing that you're much more invested in an RP arc/IC relationship/etc. than your RP partner(s). Admitting to yourself that you tend to live vicariously through your characters because, let's face it, real life sucks, and it's all too easy to retreat to a fantasy world for comfort. Acknowledging how pathetic and yes, stupid, this is, and not knowing what to do about it.
