I'm not in the market for a new FC, but I'm also interested if you end up forming a linkshell. -
I admittedly cheesed Garuda with an unsynced FC group for my story requirement. Only came back to do it with another FC member many levels later. So, yeah, I imagine when done properly it's hell.

Exhausted and still haunted by the smell of vomit, Garalona trudged from her latest house call. It was very late, and she was regretting not charging more for her services. The lalafell had the coin, so who was she to say no to his insistence she supervise his latest attempt to get clean? Now with the worst of it over, and with new insight into just how much puke could come from such a small vessel, she had left strict instructions with the servants on handling the rest. The coin was good, but not good enough for her to stand there like a sentry for an entire damn moon. A gust of wind smacked a loose flyer into her arm. Cursing, she pulled it off and turned the page over as if the advertiser was personally responsible for this slight. Bits were missing where it had been roughly torn down, but most of the image remained. "Oh, ye gods, please..." And then her gaze when up to the wall, to what the ads had been replaced with. "Oh, ye gods, PLEASE." An idea formed in an instant. Her vomit sodden work clothes were stuffed in her bags, and all she had to do was remove her Roegadyn sized smock and fling it across the wall to ruin everything. Stuffing her clothes back in her bag, she continued on her way.

Hello! It's totally up to you. Some people wait until 60 purely because RP can eat into leveling, but then if you're lucky you can also find people to quest and dungeon with IC! Either way, just have fun with it.

Welcome! I'm also a medium RPer! Finding an open window to make a character on Balmung can be tricky. It tends to happen in the dead of night PST, but since you're EU that shouldn't be much of a problem. Good luck, whatever you do!

Welcome! And, having seen Madoka, your signature strikes me as a bit ominous. But welcome just the same! I hope you advance to actually playing the game soon!
-
Hey there! I completely understand where you're coming from on the abusuve relationship angle. I was in one for years myself, it can really mess you up when you're already dealing with other stuff health wise, physically or emotionally. I'm queer, though cis, and FWIW my FC is very trans friendly. I hope to see you around in game!

balmung New Player, Looking for RP of Almost any Sort!
Garalona replied to Cirinian's topic in Chronicled Connections
Hello! I play a curmudgeonly healer for hire type. They or may not get along, but either way could be fun. I'll try and remember to look for you in game. Likewise, if you see me around, send me s tell or just walk on up. I might as well pimp my FC (that I am a member of, not an officer, I should clarify) while I'm at it. We have our fair share of gruff bastards, too. Garalona also happens to be one. I mean that literally, her being a bastard child and all. Here ya go: http://coralsea.enjin.com -
Half-breed just trying to have fun!

Life happens. I was unexpectedly busy as well so I was afraid I missed you, too. -
Keep in mind the Quicksand is the kind of place where you'll see the best and worst RP in the span of an hour, so don't despair if you happen to roll snake eyes in the RP crap shoot there and encounter something bad.

The making connections forum is a good place to start as well. Check out the threads there and see if anything seems relevant to your character, or make a new thread about what sort of contacts you're looking for and you'll meet lots of new people!
-
The making connections forum is a good option too!

That's gross. Gogonji's moustache closed the thread, it's so horrifying. Why would you court more suffering? I think that Tataru is the most visible Lalafell though. A cute, childish, singing waif who is useless at anything but accounting and paperwork. If anything the male lalas come off as usually villainous. I suppose Dewlala makes up for Tataru a little. Dewlala is probably my favorite of ANY NPC, no lie.

Yes, there could be a number of Garleans unhappy with the way the Empire does things, but like in Soviet Russia, they couldn't easily act on that without serious, probably deadly consequences. We only see the well oiled war machine part of the Empire for a reason. We only see the deserters who aren't important or threatening enough for the Empire to hunt to the ends of the earth, because the Empire's reach and influence extends far enough that the rest are almost assuredly dead. That's how oppressive empires like that survive and thrive, by crushing anyone who steps out of line so only the subservient (or those who do well to appear so) remain. But who knows, maybe *I'm* assuming too much and every imperial citizen gets a pony. And thankfully Sion is presumed dead, so she doesn't have to worry about being hunted, given her illustrious background. Don't drink and workshop, kids. But anyway, I'm glad I could have inspired you, but I think I'm done here. Good luck with whatever you end up doing.

I'm not a mod or anything, but this is getting off topic, Blue. Anyway, people who fail to take lalafell seriously do so at their own peril. I've seen Virara in action.

There's always seeing who you meet in the bars. It's rare, but I even see people RPing in gold saucer's bar area now and then. That place could stand to see more use. -
Even though I voted for Highlander (I have so many Middies, it's not even funny), this also intrigues me. Question is... Sea Wolf or Hellsguard...? Sea Wolves have slightly more lore, making Hellsguard rarest of them all. Something something mountains, easier names.

I'm always down to meet new people! Though I'm currently goofing off at work... as is usually the case when I'm browsing the forums. I should be around a lot this weekend partaking in various All Saints Wake shenanigans, so just say hi via tells or wave if you see me. Gara is... very much not shy, but I like it when characters contrast off one another, so it should be interesting!

Taking a Lala's size as carte blache to pick them up, stuff them in a sack, whatever, just because you're bigger is just bad form RP in and of itself. I would've ignored that dude, too. Like Garalona can bench press most other races, but you don't see her picking people up at random for shits and giggles. For one thing, she might throw her back out.

Not that I disagree with this statement, but I suppose it's the sum of these experiences that lead some players to the sort of 'prejudices' lamented in the OP. That's not an accusation, of course, just that I myself haven't had enough bad experiences yet, methinks. Additionally, this also raises the question of whether or not some lalafell RPers have watched the MSQ cutscenes. (¯―¯٥) Ultimately, people can play their characters however they like. The scariest MSQ NPCs are rather old, wily bastards. Not everyone wants to play that. Some do, and it's cool, those characters are memorable. But everybody has their own definition of what's fun to play. There is an inherent problem with small cute MMO races, though: people's first reactions tend to be either to hug them like a teddy bear or punt them like they're making a winning field goal. That's more the onus of years and years of MMOs having cute small races. When somebody runs up and pats a lala's head they can react accordingly, but this being many people's first response is still annoying, I know. I dunno what can really break that trend since it's just one of those MMO things. Like the assumption all elves are haughty.
