I hope you can handle all the JoJo jokes that name is going to inspire.

The void may call, but I never answer my phone, mwahahaha! Seriously, though, welcome. If you wanted less loved races, you shoulda gone with Roegadyn. We're like unicorns. Anyway, I love meeting and roleplaying with new people regardless of experience level, and laid back folks are always a bonus! Look for me in game, I'll be the max height gray skinned chick with the max length name.

That's too bad, but the offer still stands if you end up making a character that's not a criminal. We don't have many hard restrictions in Coral, but that's one of them. I feel like what you did post shows you've got a real knack for character creation.
-
Fair warning if you do make a trial account, you probably won't be able to easily find an open window to create a character on Balmung. Gilgamesh is more likely to be open, but there's less open world and tavern RP than Balmung. You can always try making a character on whatever server sounds good and transfer later, but that's $18. I've known more than a few people who hate hate HATE (yes they hate it that much) the game's global cooldown and refuse to ever play, so it pays to see if that sort of thing in and of itself is a turnoff to you.

There's typically a bit of a lull in activity if it's been a while since a major update, which I find tends to be true of a lot of MMO RP communities, but the All Saint's Wake event has been a real shot in the arm where general activity is concerned. A lot of events are happening on top of the usual weekly fare, at least on Balmung, and 3.1 is probably going to bring a ton of people back as well. I haven't even hit 60 myself, so it's all new content to me right now. All the breaks to RP probably aren't helping. As for what constitutes good RP, well, that's up to you. I've found a little niche on Balmung I'm pretty happy in. You probably could too, since tomboy drunks tend to be popular archetypes with others. :b

I still really appreciate what you do for the community, Ilwe'ran. The reminders of upcoming events in Open RP is just as simple as making a macro, I know, but it's great that somebody keeps track of these things and nudges people. It was sweet that you actually checked where I was to see that I was alone in the area, too. I was stalling for time on the off chance the person was running late, and I didn't want to message you at exactly 2:15 going yo what gives. Running events is stressful work, I know from doing it way back in the day, and I know I'm not in the right head space to do it right now myself, either. I don't blame you for taking a break. With the holidays coming up things would probably only get messier, anyway, so take all the time you need. I remain a big fan of you and the things you do. :moogle:

On the bright side, whenever you do manage to get on Balmung, you'll find we have absolutely no gold spam... Because they can't get on the server either. :V But it's worth it because there's always people on doing something, whether it's RP, FATEs, or whatever else you're in the mood for at the time.

I. Basic Info Characters: Garalona Swarbrydawyn Primary character: See Above Linkshells:The Coral Sea, Open RP Primary RP linkshell:The Coral Sea II. RP Style Amount of RP (light, medium, heavy): Medium Views on RP combat and injuries: I prefer to handle everything in emotes, perhaps leaving the success or failure of an attack to a high/low random roll to make things interesting. If I wanted to make a character sheet, I'd play D&D. As for injuries, I draw the line at maiming, and perma-death is out of the question. I like my character too much to kill her off. Garalona's my baby... my giant, angry gray baby. Views on IC romance: If it happens, it happens. I don't go out of my way looking for it. Views on non-romantic RP (family ties, etc): Kinda moot since Garalona has no surviving family aside from her father, a male Roegadyn prostitute whose identity shall forever remain a mystery. Views on lore: Bend it like Korra. If no lore yet exists to explain something, take what's there as inspiration and make something up. No sense waiting around for it to finally be addressed when you can build your own story. Really, telling an interesting story supersedes all else. That said, I'm not going to smile and nod along with every wild lore-breaking thing that comes along, up to and including AU shenanigans. I do have SOME standards, believe it or not. The aforementioned story we're cooperatively telling still has to make a lick of sense and, y'know, be good. This ain't My Immortal. Views on chat functions (/say, /linkshell, etc): I personally use quotes in /say and explicitly IC linkshells just so I can throw in emotes at will, but respect that not everyone does the same. Also it's present tense or bust for me. I consider /tells to be OOC unless someone is in earshot, so I don't bother with brackets in them unless that's the case. III. I got stood up, but I still appreciate you taking the time to set all this up, Ilwe'ran. I had the option to join another group but opted to just get some other stuff done instead since my lazy Sunday was getting a little too lazy anyway. :b I actually have an idea to make these a little easier to organize in the future if you keep doing them.

Looking forward to seeing the results! You do great work!
-
This sounds like great fun!

Can I atleast burn them with fire??? So. Many. Miqo'te. Must. Exterminate. So since you're not a miqo'te I can see this without clenching my teeth.....welcome to the RPC! Easy there. No need to set fire to everything. :bomb: By the way Rin, I LOVE that signature image. Super cute!

I really love the angle, personally. But then I always liked Hojo in FFVII, too, so I'm biased. Lore wise, I feel there's nothing wrong with getting creative with established stuff as an inspiration. As for FC recommendations, I'll throw my own into the hat: http://coralsea.enjin.com

Welcome! What are you two playing? I'm guessing Au Ra by the avatar, but I mean background wise. What are they like? What are they looking for in Eorzea? Sorry, I love learning about people's characters.
-
Hello new person! I can't wait to hear about your characters, wherever they end up.
-
Nothing wrong with another Au Ra, it helps balance out all the Miqo'te. Is the only after finding a mate rule a personal one or an outside imposition?
-
So Roe healers are pretty fun. Just sayin'. Everybody looks up to me... 8-) I'll be going now. Go back to whatever it was you were doing. Have fun with the Hugeness, SessionZero!
-
Glad you decided to take the plunge! I look forward to seeing you around!

I'll just leave this here: http://coralsea.enjin.com Poke around the site a bit, see what you think.

I'll throw my FC into the ring while I'm at it: http://coralsea.enjin.com The Coral Sea is a rag-tag bunch with offices in Limsa and a house in Mist. If there's good in your character's heart he might be a good fit. It's only unrepentant, never gonna change, laugh while shanking em criminal types that don't really work in our ranks. We also have a kitchen that somehow remains stocked in spite of constantly being raided by members and guests.
-
There's always tavern RP to test the waters, though it can be hit and miss. The Quicksand in Ul'dah is always hopping. Limsa and even Gridania also have people drop by their adventurer's guilds from time to time, though they never get quite as packed as the Quicksand. Even Ishgard sees its share of RP if you're that far in the main story. Oh! Almost forgot. The easiest way to identify other RPers (and identify yourself as one) is in your character search field. When you examine people, at the top of their character menu by their name you'll see a little word bubble that'll bring up their search info if they have any set. The Open RP linkshell is also handy for finding RP, though it's often filled to capacity.
-
Welcome! I love your icon, too! It reminds me of the glow shark from Kelly Sue DeConnick's "Bitches Get Shit Done" meme. You came at a good time since there's a lot of Halloween events going on. Event RP can seem daunting at first, since text just flies by, but you can at least get a read on a lot of characters at once. I like to find people on the fringes of the crowd and chat, personally. I can't really help much with lore since I'm a don't sweat it type. I know what's relevant to my character and if something new comes up IC I don't have to fake being mystified by it. Gara finding out about Alagan stuff will be fun. I hope to see you around in game!
-
Welcome! I tried to play EVE several times, but even with an automatic in to goon squad and free starting stuff I could never get into it. Just not my thing, I guess. Too much micromanagement. Which server will you be playing on? Have you decided on a character?
-
Well, they're SOUL stones. Somebody walking around without a soul would be pretty freaky. Even if you could detach a part of yourself without dying, it probably wouldn't be advisable. But it's an interesting thought...

My vote is obvious.
