This is one of the greatest games of its time! It was full of stuff like this. I personally hate the way Japan portrays gay men as effeminate and predatory in their mainstream media. Seconding this, it's so tiresome. They even portray lesbians as predatory as well and just... Come on. I personally find regional changes interesting, and liked English Haurchefaunt well enough. He was a bit campy in demeanor, but his genuine concern for and desire to help the WoL made him an endearing character. The laviciousness on top of all that would have annoyed the hell out of me.

I honestly haven't bothered looking.

Garalona is 41 but has the world weariness of someone twice her age for various reasons. Anyone not in the bloom of youth would be a nice change of pace to hang out with! I've been feeling particularly old and decrepit myself irl due to a congenital defect giving me hell, so my online time has been pretty brief and sporadic, but I'm trying to change that now. Just drop me a line if you do catch me in game.

So I heard it through the grapevine that several folks are expecting, and though the happy event is a ways down the road for most of you, Garalona can potentially assist through any stage of pregnancy if that what your character is looking for. She's had a lot of experience, and I promise your PC won't die in childbirth on her watch like the NPC in that story I wrote. :angel: As for IC precedent, Gara's medical services on offering are posted in every major city, and it's just a matter of sending a message ((PM me here or /tell in game)) to have her drop by and make sure everything is in order.

I wouldn't call the dragoon thing straight up impossible, else the Warrior of Light wouldn't have managed it (ok, they used a soul to get to that point, but the fact remains that an outsider becoming a dragoon is possible, even if it is incredibly unlikely). If it was entirely impossible, that would have been gone from my backstory ASAP (whilst I wouldn't call myself hardcore, I try to at least respect the lore, even if I do sometimes bend it). But I won't argue with the fact that it's still meh and can cause IC problems. One thing I have thought of over the past day or so is an idea to 'blur' out the whole thing. i.e. keep it in, but obscure the details both OOCly and ICly in order to not OPENLY cause scepticism. Fact is, it has no relevance whatsoever with Riku's current situation apart from being part of his skill-set. If I reduced it to something as simple as "Riku was a lancer who helped out in Coerthas for a while", it could still refer to a dragoon if some people still wish to RP that fact, but to everyone else, it could mean any number of possible jobs. Would that be a sufficient compromise? Dragoons going off to help kill dragons in Coerthas is perfectly reasonable.

No not at all. You can transfer when ever you want with paid transfer. And the 18 bucks lets you transfer multiple characters, too!

Gonna be brutally honest here, when people have issues of this nature, they tend to just shake their head and walk away before you even get a chance to explain. Like the Ishgardian Lalafell Dragoon thing? Most people are not going to ask how in the world you accomplished that, they're going to go "Uh-huh, and I'm the Miqo'te King of Ishgard. Pull the other one, it's got bells on." But hell, those probably aren't people you care to play with anyway, and that just means you've got to find folk who are amicable to your whole concept and all that. Finding the right FC will help a lot with that. I'm sure you'll find one in due time.

I'm always eager to see more conjurers to RP with (PS: we should RP!) though I do have one question: what's this about 'the Corp?' Is it an expression of delusional paranoia or is something else going on there?

I feel like the age thing (or rather, how young he appears to be... that's a trope that personally always made me uncomfortable) is gonna be a big hurdle for a lot of people, but since this isn't a character workshop I can't really say much. I know Pathfinder Society is a very open and accepting bunch, but I think you'd probably still have to approach them.

Their proportions from head to toe are kind of weirdly elongated, which gives a lot of people pause. Mostly people expect their MMO elves to be lithe and graceful creatures, elezen always struck me as being more gawky.

Ow, my eyes. That's a lot of red text. But to answer the questions... How do you handle these situations? Are you patient? I have a "three strikes" system. If I have three encounters with someone where it feels like I'm trying to squeeze blood from a stone, I give up. It could very well be their character is amazingly detailed and great to interact with, but for some reason we have bad chemistry. It happens. Not everybody is going play perfectly off one another. You just gotta find the people who draw out your creativity and vice versa. - Am I a little too ungrateful? I shouldn't ask for 'that much' from people? We're in the same boat. Anyone thinking anyone else should be grateful for the time? THAT would be weird. We all have lives outside the game, and we should all try and have the most fun we can have out of the game. - How do you make sure your RP never runs out of 'meat'/material to play with? Do you bring in new items, like a Limsan axe? I try to throw as many balls into people's courts as I can, even the stone wall sorts. The "three strikes" thing is really more like "three entire games of baseball" so it's not like I give up that easily. But when there's just nothing I can comment on, or they keep responding with "that's nice" there's only so much I can do. I have two methods for generating material, Gara's healer for hire work, basically whatever she's doing when I'm logged out, and the fact she's over 40 and has gobs of life experience where practically anything can trigger a memory. If things get slow, she'll suddenly remember a based of a snippet of a comment, which will lead her to go "you ever see/do that" to the others involved. It's led to a lot of interesting exchanges and sometimes even I'm surprised with where her mind goes. - Got RP standards? What are they? What do you want/expect from people RPing with you? People trying to blatantly god mod my own reactions is pretty much the only thing that'll get me to peace out immediately. Being told I do this? Feel that? Think the other? Haha, no. I can roll with a lot of things, but that won't fly.

Yeah, I can't really comment since when I'm running around our neighborhood in the Mist there's tons of the lanky bastards about, I think Au Ra are neck and neck (har har) in our... neck... of the woods lately, though. Too many references to giraffe necks in one post. :dazed:
