  2. That's good to hear! I hope your first convention is a success. They are indeed incredibly fun. Most of my real life friends are people I've met via conventions. (I also met my boyfriend at a convention. Haha.) Couples costumes are cute as heck! You guys are gonna look great together. If you end up not being able to order the binder and are in a time pinch, one more thing I can suggest is sports bras. You can buy them a bit smaller than you would for normal purposes to get a bit of compression, or you can even pin them in the back to be a bit tighter. It won't be perfect, but you'll be wearing a couple layers of clothing so you might be able to get away with it. But the binder is definitely also a worthy investment if you're thinking you might be cosplaying more male characters in the future.
  3. Oh actually... I just read the date and I'm going to be gone on the 18-19th. Whoops. Sorry, I was a little too excited to notice, I guess.
  4. Y E S Edit: Although there's no reason we should exclude the males for this. We can always have separate gender pictures and then one big group picture. I do have a feeling that the ladies are a larger party though. Hehe.
  5. I know the pants are like hempen tights... and... dress...shoes? The shirt is... er... er... ah... O_O I really honestly forget the name. It's a something something of crafting though. It's a Coatee. Any level one will look like that. The different tiers velveteen/vintage/linen etc. just have differences in the small details and the neck bow thing. :moogle:
  6. I hadn't even thought about fake tattoo sleeves. It's possible you could find one out there that strikes your fancy. Looks like there's plenty of DIY out there on them as well. This lady put panty hose over a rectangle of cardboard and drew designs with art markers & pens. If you have those kind of materials around it might be worth a shot. :moogle:
  7. Yeah, I'm now wondering if Eorzeans actually say "corse" rather than corpse, because it is a "typo" that has come up numerous times now in quest text. >_> Either Squeenix really sucks at typing, or Eorzeans are frickin' weird. Corse is a real word and it means the same thing. http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/corse?s=t A couple more unusual ones I've noticed NPCs using a lot are these two: Vainglorious http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/vainglorious Selfsame http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/selfsame?s=t "That's my selfsame opinion!"
  8. I changed Torn's hairstyle for now to blow off some steam because the back of it was clipping horribly with every collar. I need a hug. It's pretty (my second favorite), but I don't know if it really suits her. What do my fellow Roegadames think?
  9. The binders on that website are made for daily wear. Just a few hours in it would be fine. It may take some getting used to if you've never bound before, so that would actually be perfect for you. For sizing take some measuring tape and: (fullest part of bust + under-bust measurement) / 2 = your size A good indicator of when you should definitely take your binder off is if you start feeling sore or have any trouble breathing. Ebay and amazon are great for cheap glasses. Two-toned black/purple wayfarers: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Black-Purple-Medium-Wayfarer-Clear-Lens-Glasses-Geek-Fashion-Vintage-Designer-/181227507876?pt=UK_Sunglasses_Adults&hash=item2a320050a4 Bright purple wayfarers: http://www.ebay.com/itm/NWT-CLEAR-LENS-WAYFARER-COLOR-NERD-GLASSES-OPTICAL-QUALITY-80S-RETRO-VINTAGE-/270886125459?pt=US_Sunglasses&var=570052501642&hash=item3f12123f93 Narrower style with a kinda cool gradient: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/3-PAIRS-NEW-RETRO-RIMMED-READERS-READING-GLASSES-1-5-2-00-2-50-3-0-4-00-/390617225929?pt=UK_Health_Beauty_VisionGlasses_Lenses_SM&var=660146050270&hash=item5af299dac9 Not purple, but I think a Cecil costume might look good with horn-rimmed glasses: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Eyeglass-Frame-Club-Half-Horn-Rimmed-Glasses-Unisex-New-Black-Silver/330865274998?_trksid=p2045573.m2042&_trkparms=aid%3D111000%26algo%3DREC.CURRENT%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D27%26meid%3D1786665844813310474%26pid%3D100033%26prg%3D1011%26rk%3D3%26rkt%3D4%26sd%3D140753654815%26 I didn't look into the reliability of the sellers themselves for those links, but with ebay - lots of positive reviews are a good sign. Just check the comment sections to make certain they were posted by real people and it's not the seller mass-posting reviews from dummy accounts to make their store look better. It's generally pretty easy to tell. I didn't check amazon myself and these are just some quick finds. I only searched things like "purple wayfarer" or "purple glasses" and narrowed the price range to 10$ or less.
  10. Cool! Choosing a wig is always so stressful for me. Haha. For binding, you've probably heard this a dozen times, but do not use ace bandages. It is possible to injure yourself. DIY binder tut! http://marvinuniverse.tumblr.com/post/34631541789/tutorial-chest-binder I did this for myself and it works pretty well, however I'm rather small-chested. http://www.underworks.com/ You could also order a regular binder from here. There's one style that runs for about 30$. I buy my pants and shirts and such for male characters at Kohl's, department stores, goodwill, thrift stores etc. If there aren't any actual men's sizes that can fit you, you can try getting larger sizes from the boy's section. A purple sweater vest might be a hard find, but if you see a white one- check the tag. If it's made of a natural fiber, you can dye it purple! :cactuar:
  11. I suggest getting some inexpensive reading glasses. You can easily pop out the lenses if you don't want them bothering your eyes while walking around. For wigs: http://www.epiccosplay.com/ http://arda-wigs.com/ http://www.amphigory.com/c/catalog/kword/short-medium-wigs http://thefivewits.net/cosplay-wigs/ (If you have trouble picking out a wig to work with, I might be able to help) These sites are all US based, so if you're in the US they should have no trouble getting your order to you on time. There are also many china-based wig sellers on ebay, but the quality of the item received and shipping time is always a bit of a gamble with them. I second tattoo transfer paper for the makeup portion. I could talk a lot about bodypaints, but I'm going to go ahead and say if you want makeup that doesn't smear you would probably end up spending more on that than you would on the paper. Alcohol activated paints won't come off with sweat, but they cost a good bit. Oil-based makeups require a lot of sealing and are a nuisance to get off of clothing if you happen to get it on your outfit. Water-based paints are fun to paint with, but they are the quickest to wear off. For the latter, Kyrolan or Mehron paint and a good setting spray usually lasts me a whole day at a convention.
  12. No problem. I like to always try to fill requests for group and event materials like this when I see them. Yup yup. Go for it! :cactuar:
  13. Ossim Here's the big version of that one. http://i.imgur.com/lJtvQ21.png
  14. I have a psd for these that's bigger, but they look a lot better at this kind of size. I used this for the shape of the supports And when I googled grindstone, there were a bunch of pictures of stones with this line pattern on it. I figured I'd try throwing it on there since it might make it stand out from the Nymeia symbol a bit more. I'm pretty poopy with straight lines, too, but whelp I tried.
  15. Both of the songs I like for Torn right now are by Dead Can Dance, which I find inspirational in general. CoEGsxUZ2F4 hQJ60TZy9b4
  16. Lominsan Barding on left, Half-barding in the middle, crested barding on right - or I presume, at least? I imagine they're all the same excepting the flags. I don't have any of them yet myself. Did a bit of googling is all. EDIT: Whoops. I misread the first post entirely. But I think I'll leave that there as reference anyway.
  17. I think the poses are probably helping a lot here. The suit doesn't look quite as good with just idle standing. The femgadyn /sit position is especially cute for this though. Love it. Look at them gams.
  18. The striped one is really nice.
  19. I think this one's my new favorite for the stance. Mtoto is the suavest lady. Damn.
  20. *tiny scream* YOU ARE PRECIOUS. This is so nice, thank you! It's perfect. I especially love how you did her hair. *gives you a great big roegadyn hug*
  21. I have to agree that something about the miqo'te's face in the third picture makes him very nice to look at, haha. The miqo'te in the dress and the latest picture you've just done of Koyu have really great expressions. Lastly, I swear you must be a wizard when it comes to drawing noses. They're so nice, can I please boop them all?
