  1. I might be interested in throwing my hat into the ring to help with the project, if you'll have me. Apart from that, I wouldn't know what card would suit Feral Ren.
  2. It's fine. Have fun doing the project. I'm looking forward to the result.
  3. I would take Halone for Feral, but it seems that you're no longer taking miqo'tes for this project, right? :?:
  4. That sucks. I think FFXI is getting to the point where their community isn't as engaged in bringing newbies up to speed. Reminds me of the whole "player retention" problem that EVE Online suffers from. The solution is surprisingly simple: Have a guild or two that is completely dedicated to supporting newbies throughout the game. A good first month or two with people you can count on can make all the difference in how the person perceives the game.
  5. Looking forward to seeing what you have in store for the website redesign. I should also add, I wouldn't recommend ditching the chat room. Just change it out with a better chatroom system, and make it very accessible. Feature accessibility is a major factor in determining if something gets used often or not.
  6. Good pictures, Endemerrin. As for my contribution, I just have this, for all of you. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OVgva-n2gkw
  7. Welcome back. Looking forward to seeing you in Eorzea.
  8. All I know is that January 7th is when my college quarter starts and I'm completely out of it. x_x
  9. I'm glad that everyone here seems to be keeping a level head for the most part. Let's see if that keeps through to A Realm Reborn.
  10. Square Enix seems to have had a habit of being "Frozen in time" in regards to the game world's lore. I have never seen them "update" their lore for FFXI in regards to timeline.
  11. No screenshots of FemRoe? :< Still, wow, this really looks slick! It's obvious a lot of love has gone into it...
  12. Sound Mage, because I'm immune to sound (literally).
  13. I'm of the mind that people shouldn't let spoken or written things get to them, even if taken out of context. Make a takedown request if you have to, but don't make hay over it if they refuse. Just move past it, and don't let it become a monkey on your back.
  14. *sits with a cup of freshly brewed coffee in front of him* Yeah, thanks for pointing that out. Still, I've seen Square-Enix clamp down on harassment and misbehavior in Final Fantasy XIV and XI in the past. I'm just saying that if a problem gets bad enough, Square could get involved. Besides, you seem to have missed the point of my statement...oh well, I'm not gonna bother spelling it out right now, because I've got math class in an hour. Waking up in the morning and seeing that this issue is still alive, doesn't exactly make me a happy cat. Edit: It also seems that the User Disputes section is related to commodities and accounts, not community issues.
  15. My take on this? Both sides need to chill out. I don't care who's at fault right now. Both of you move forward, and treat each other with respect. If I see any more of this drama - or for that matter, any drama rooted in issues from FFXIV 1.0 - in A Realm Reborn, I'm reporting any parties involved in said drama to Square-Enix. *walks back into his house and slams the door shut*
  16. I suppose it goes without saying that I feel stuck in the middle of these rifts that Endemerrin mentioned, and I really am not 100% sure what to believe. Frankly, I'm sick of it. Sick of the BS I've seen coming from so many directions in the past month - as well as the past two years - to the point where I just want it to stop, so I can actually enjoy some decent roleplay with people who don't judge each other unnecessarily. I, for one, am hopeful that A Realm Reborn will bring with it a tide that washes out the incessant noise, drama, and suchlike from the community at large.
  17. As you walk along on your way to your destination in the city (any of the three cities), you see flyers plastered on the bulletin boards advertising an impromptu open forum discussion on the coming of Dalamud and the Garlean Invasion. It is set to take place in the evening by week's end at Limsa Lominsa. ~OOC~ This will take place September 23rd at 4:00 PM Pacific (-8 GMT), at the Limsa Lominsa Upper Decks, (X:4, Y:7) Anchor Yard. Topics discussed ICly will cover a wide range of lore topics.
  18. ~This is an OOC Event.~ When: At 4PM Pacific Standard Time, and on Saturday, August 11th. Starting time at the latest is 6PM Pacific. Where: Rivenroad (Gridania Airship Docks) I will be hosting a party that will try to defeat Darnus in a timely fashion, complete with strategies and walkthroughs. People who have beaten Darnus previously and are familiar with the strategy are encouraged to come help out. The goal is to help those who have yet to beat Darnus gain the achievement, as well as experience the fight. Presently, there is a waiting list already being formed, and I hope to have two parties or more going at the same time to try and beat Darnus. Send me a Tell ingame @ Feral Ren, or send me a PM here if you want to be added to the waiting list, or if you want to help run a Darnus party. See you there! -Feral Ren
  19. I am interested. What about everyone else, though? I would suggest having all RPers in the same Free Company come 2.0, but that's an unrealistic suggestion. If this shell turns out to be similar to Intermission/Backstage, it'll still work. Probably.
  20. Guys. The Cavernous Maws from FFXI were based on Atmos from FF9. When you consider the lore involving Atmos, it makes sense that Louisoix would send you into a sort of limbo inside Atmos' realm or something to that effect. Funny how nobody has guessed at this particular theory and keeps grabbing at only the FFXI connection. http://finalfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Atom ... reature%29
  21. So sorry to butt in further, but I'd like to say something since Skype is also used as a voice chat program: One thing I've noticed regarding this community is the over-reliance on voice communications for casual conversations, sometimes to the point of using it as a mechanism to go around other people's backs for gossip. This is something I would like to see people discouraged from doing, or at least implementing a strict policy addressing the potential risk of abuses. I'm speaking from personal experience and feel this should at least be a topic for discussion among guilds. >.>
  22. Eh...when you look at me and my issues with the community, I'd have to disagree with your position regarding the whole "no one being pushed out" part. However, I feel that a restructure would be best planned for 2.0, and made to take into account the plethora of new features in the game. Such as dueling, which can also serve as a proper conflict resolution system, as opposed to simply RPing it out and it ending up with two people still upset at each other - though RPing it out to a conclusion is doable provided both parties had it planned out. (This is, in my opinion, one of the problems that continues to periodically rear its ugly head in XIV) On the other hand, I'm also more concerned about whether or not linkshells/free companies will talk to each other more often in 2.0 than they have in the past. I'm talking about inter-guild events, story arcs, etc that take into account multiple parties, instead of just one or two. The key to people understanding one another is consistent, regular interaction, regardless of the setting. You can't "know" the person or groups if you've interacted with them a handful of times with limited progress. The biggest pitfall as I see it with 2.0 and the RP community, is seeing the same shtick repeated as what we had to go through in the first eight months of the game. That could lead to another "isolation" of the community by grouping, if left unaccounted for.
  23. I hope this produces results. If the linkshell leaders aren't willing to come together to discuss matters that can lead to better community unity, then there are some serious problems going on that even the best peacemaker can't fix. I don't even need to be that blunt, but still. Again, I hope this produces positive results and a better, more cohesive, involved community.
  24. I just noticed this phrase: This means we won't be able to pick a server based on names. So we will have to choose a server anyway.
