  1. My character is not a mage per se, but she is supposed to have a background in conjury (that often leads to catastrophe). She is also a Hearer, but she is unlikely to speak about that to anybody.. In any case, any kind of obscure magicks and stuff like that might pique her interest. Feel free to poke me ingame.
  2. Obviously a flaw of the game to my eyes... Can't blame the tanks here, they had the required ilvl to get in, but people were just overgeared and well... Honestly, if you start telling people they can't play content because some folks are overgeared...
  3. On top of my head, I seem to remember having read here and there in Limsa that smuggling is thriving to get tax evasion from Merlwyb little "despotic" government. Spices, among others various exotic stuff from the other sides of the sea, were mentioned. And i'm pretty sure as said above, in the case of Limsa, most goods except maybe the most terrible of all, are legal. They are just taxed and enforced by the arcanist guild. Also, pirated goods.
  4. Don't let the "closed recruitment" labels fool you though. Some may take time and just getting in touch with the people until it opens again can go a long way too... I think it's also more a matter of the impression you leave, the friends you make, rather than hard limits on recruitment.
  5. Looks like a nice character. Feel free to reach me out ingame, I have a character that often takes interest with all the things that are cool or awesome. Like piwates. Edit: for potential additional hooks, i'm still looking for characters that can introduce mine to her little pilgrimage/visit thing in Limsa and Vylbrand... If they follow the rule of cool, the better!
  6. I did that too recently. Tank dropped out of cutter's cry for no special reason. Tanked as WhM all the run... Since I generated more aggro than anyone with all those now mandatory heal bursts for the party to stay alive...
  7. Yes, I had that doubt as well when I started and wanted to transfer. They clearly state in the transfer information that it should not be possible, but obviously, it is in practice...
  8. Mh, I also forgot that Suen is still planning to do a more serious visit of Vylbrand/Limsa with her pilgrimage thing. Might be another hook. For timezones, then I guess it might get more chances to happen the week end then, EU TZ here.
  9. Honestly, I doubt lore precisely answers those questions, but they are interesting to speculate nonetheless... I would however really doubt that would be sane to use aetherytes with another soul inside of you. Maybe not that it would be impossible and whatnot, but that sounds like complicating everything in the process tenfold...
  10. Since my character is located in Uldah, feel free to reach me out. She currently seems to be connecting with all the Keepers around the place (interestingly here since your Keeper seems to be from Lisma for a change!). I also think that your character is the kind of mischievous one that mines tends to gravitate around in the hope of "cool" and "edgy" stories. Or just whatever sounds cool and wicked. I play her as a mainly supportive character explained like that, but I can do whatever works really.
  11. Battledreads are surprisingly cool on elezens.

    Greetings!

Tree huggers should take over Eorzea at some point, which might or not be the natural way of things!
  13. I guess we already got IC introduced. Don't hesitate to poke though.
  14. The flyers now seem to have all been removed. The Blades also answer "case closed" when inquiring them.
  15. But both thaumaturges and conjurers seem to actually use the exact same fuel through the exact same elemental wheel... Just differently. I am really starting to think that this whole affair is a mess since they changed it in a rush post 1.0... The most logical explanation to me is just as Sounssy said: traditions and schools of learning that lead to different results, but different only due to tradition and doctrines.
  16. I will try to post it in several date formats... We didn't do anything yesterday, so I can plan it for this evening... Same date: 8:00 pm GMT, so around 12:00 am PST?
  17. Ok I see... Thanks for the insight. I also find your explanation Sounssy to make a lot of sense by its simplicity. Ok... Well, let's imagine that some conjurers are as potent as thaumaturges in terms of aether and in tune with elementals and the woods... Some of them at least must be strong in aether. Then, it renders the point a bit moot... It is?
  18. Well yeah, but conjurers could do the same then. And yet it's presented like it's not the thing to do, period, novice or not, unless i'm again misinterpreting the quest lines. Also, thaumaturges could still do like conjurers for it to become safer, and also not being limited by their own reserves...
  19. The spells we see ingame are simplifications of what the lore tells so that the game works with precise mechanics in my opinion, nothing more. I usually use and bend the whole elemental wheel to whatever seems logical on the spot... I play a character with very random conjury skills that are very similar to BG's Wild Surge, which means I can roll dices and stuff and create totally random and unexpected results, the most common being, casting a wild flame instead of manipulating water, etc. Well, she is a walking danger. I find the idea amusing to play with since she is favoured by the elementals and so they don't give a shit, like a huge trollface to Stillglade conjurers. Not that she uses a lot of conjury to begin with anyway. Too afraid of it, not that much interested in it (for now).
  20. Yeah, it seemed for some reason I interpreted wrong the way it was presented by e-Sumi. Now then it makes me wonder something else though... If conjurers cry in horror at people like Sylphie trying to draw aether from their own bodies, and their doctrines advise now to use the aether of the land, why is that thaumathurges, who probably are even less scrupulous about ethics and stuff, don't? Why do they persist in risking their own life? The black mage taboo?
  21. Suen is wandering the streets when she notices the news. She tilts her head as she recognizes the name. "Oh, so that detective guy is really serious in that business..."
  22. Reminder! It's tomorrow 8:00pm GMT! Probably unsynced to speed things up and make it more convenient to party.
