  1. Something I've used for quite a bit, simple adventurer type outfit. Head: Toxotes Bandana Body: Foestriker's Tabard Gloves: Sipahi Gloves Legs: Boarskin Skirt Boots: Templar's Sollerets Weapon: Carnage Sword (Can be swapped out for most tank/melee weapons, guns or bows.)
  2. True, some people are riding the coat tails of the failed previous title or just dropped a Lincoln at Gamestop, but that doesn't mean plenty of people didn't shell out the full cost of the game when pre-ordering, so yes, there are a significantly large number of people who did pay for the game in full. And I imagine the number of people who did (anyone who bought the game online, which is much more likely due to the distribution issues I have heard with physical copies) aren't none too happy about the current situation. Oh I completely agree, I'm one of those people who got a copy online and in turn had to pay full price. I'm just saying that some people didn't and even then the early access was just a bonus given to us for supporting the game before launch so in that sense no one actually paid anything for early access. Honestly I happy I haven't seen any of the comment in this thread that a friend linked from the SE forums and lodestone, it seems some legacy people have some entitlement issues and want SE to boot all non legacy players from the servers so they can play. >.<
  3. Honestly that's exactly what they are doing, they are limiting the number of people on the servers (From my understanding it's a very low population cap at the moment.) so we all don't go rushing in and click on things at the same time and ultimately breaking what they had just worked so hard to fix. If happened twice yesterday with the duty finder and instance servers, we broke them, they fixed them, once the servers were back up we broke them again in a matter of minutes just from the amount of people trying to access them at the same time. That's great. But that doesn't actually fix anything. Which means if they ever raise the cap, it's just going to go down again. Meaning that the game would have to stay precisely as accessible as it is right now in order for things to work. Do you really think this is a good way to start off an MMO? :dodgy: The way I'm looking at it is they can better see what their servers can actually handle and adjust things accordingly. How things get fixed I'm not sure though, I can guess that they will get better hardware for their servers. It sucks, it really does but I'd rather this happen now than while we were paying our subscription. A minor note on the arguement that we've paid for the game to get early access this isn't exactly true, a few retailers gave out the pre-order codes with only $5 deposits on the game and then 1.0 players that stuck around and played through and subscribed for 3 months during the Legacy promo didn't even have to do that. The bottom line is it doesn't look like they were ready for or even expecting this sort of load on their servers. They could honestly take all the servers down but doing it this way at least gives them some data to crunch and form some sort of plan to fix it.

  5. Considering where he was last U'zhan would probably be spending the day fishing and being a little bored.
  6. Bahaha! You just made my day, Isilme.
  7. As annoying as it is to have the servers limiting the number of people on at a time I don't really mind having to wait to get to play. I'd rather them do this sort of stress testing now so that at launch we hopefully won't run into the "Can't communicate with the Duty finder server" error that was a pretty big issue yesterday. Now if they were having to do this during a time where we were all paying our subscriptions then that would be another story all together.
  8. I can answer a few of these questions though I have a feeling while I'm typing this someone will beat me to the punch! Anyways I'll start off with some simple answers regarding a couple things. First! Each race does have a difference in stats but we've been assured that this has almost no effect on things at max level. So the short answer is no the race doesn't matter so much for that. Second! Support from what I've seen isn't it's own separate role like it is in other games. With that said Bard in FFXIV:ARR is mainly a DPS class with a few supporting abilities. You've played WoW so it's like the different classes bringing buffs to the party in a way. So there is no stealth class yet but they do want to add one into the game. Probably a little bit before or with the first expansion. Since you like playing short "odd" characters I'd suggest maybe a Lalafel Dragoon? Lala's are super short and they look kind of funny in the Dragoon's artifact armour, also a lot of the dragoon's attacks rely on you attacking from the side or behind the target. As for guilds they are called Free Companies, the Link Shells now are pretty much just chat channels. The Free Companies themselves can level up and special Company points can be spent by the leader to purchase different boosts for it's members. Now if you don't mind watching some videos on youtube Mr. Happy here can explain things a lot better than I can. His videos answer most of the questions you've asked in pretty great detail and even has other info and advice so I really recommend giving his page a look. http://www.youtube.com/channel/UCALEd8FzfaUt-HBBZctO9cg
  9. I'll be looking to RP pretty much as soon as those gates open. I have a 1.0 character so I'll be playing on Balmung and have a few levels on my lancer over that lvl 20 limit they gave us in phase 4. With that said I'll probably be trying to catch the main story up to my level (Didn't even get to the Ifrit fight in phase 4) but as many have said if I see RP or get RPed at I'll be more than happy to stop and interact. I would actually love to get RPed at outside of the cities since my character isn't very fond of them.
  10. Yeah, I didn't do Phase 3, so I'm not sure what exactly my getting in on the 16th was from. I think it was anyone who had signed up for the beta before a specific date got into phase 4 on the 16 and anyone else after that date couldn't sign up anymore and had to wait till the 17 to sign up for the open beta.
  11. This was mentioned in another thread but I'll repeat it here. It's regarding gamestop saying they are out of pre-order codes. Some people have gone home and called gamestop's customer support to ask about after the clerk at the store said they had no codes left. After some talking and information given these people claim to have been able to get a code. I know there has been some controversy regarding ARR pre-order codes and gamestop. My friend works at one of the local stores and he had to put in his manager code to get access to more than the pitifully small amount of codes that they seemed to have. Also the other store here in town claims to have only gotten 5 codes total. These are more recent stories but I've seen and heard of similar things happening way back when we could first start getting these codes from the store.
  12. Aye! Once the game is back up I'll make sure to get a screen for ya, also need to think of a title that isn't too big though I'm very fond of the one Abai has given U'zhan.
  13. War games is the most likely explination but I don't think fighting over resources could be too far of a stretch, I mean wasn't it mentioned that we will be fighting over strategic points in the area? If that's true then it seems like it's a bit more than just war games and exercises but that's just how I'm seeing it. Also personally I'd be happy if there was no pvp or even if the arena was the only form of pvp. I understand that pvp is a big thing to a lot of people out there and I am happy to see that SE is working to make it fit in the lore too. Don't get me wrong here I'm pretty excited to see how the Frontlines pvp is going to play out as I'm a fan of the larger scale pvp battles and I will probably find myself in the area often enough but that will mostly be OoC for me I'm thinking.
  14. For those of you who watch Mr. Happy then you might have seen this already. For those who haven't it details some of the ability and subjob changes to the jobs like Bard now focusing more on DPS with lancer and pugilist subjobs and how monk and dragoon now have marauder as a subjob instead of archer. Note this has nothing to do with what classes need to be leveled to unlock the job but instead what classes benefit the job most.
  15. It's not exactly a different language and as far as I know this only applies to Miqo'te and their names but they seem to pronounce some letters differently to make sounds that the other races physically can't. I think it's the letter H that they end up making a sort of rasping hiss for, I do believe it's in the naming conventions part of their lore on the wiki page.
  16. In FFXI when a mob the Blue Mage was fighting used an ability it could learn there was a chance that the Blue Mage would learn said ability but it wasn't 100% chance. This also lead to a lot of grinding since many of the better spells were learned from enemies not often hunted by parties. In short it was a lot of work to get your blue magic spells. Considering how FFXIV is I'm not entirely sure how they'd go about a Blue Mage getting it's spells. There is the boring option of them just being those 5 job abilities they get though.
  17. I'm quite happy with dragoon but I would love to see ninja and samurai added, I had a blast playing them in XI. Also as far as ninja goes I'd rather they were a sneaky rogue/thief type instead of the tank class they became in XI. Dark Knight would also be pretty cool and instead of making a new class for it to start as why not add great swords as another weapon option for marauder since CNJ, THM, and GLA can each use 2 different types of weapons and then have Dark Knight be a DPS job similar to how Arcanists can become summoners for DPS and Scholar for a healer?
  18. I could be wrong but I think Yoshi P said he wanted to add one more class sometime before the first expansion hits. If they do my money is on our missing rogue class or as it's been called before a scout class. Thief will most likely be the job advancement with a possible secondary being ninja but I'm hoping for a katana wielding class that splits into either Samurai or Ninja sometime down the road.
  19. Not sure about the player races myself but the main story quest that has you do the Copperbell mines states that a group of gigas were trapped and buried in the lowest levels for 300 years. It's possible that some baby gigas were made but the way the text is given it makes it sound like the ones you go in and clear out are the same beastmen that were trapped down there but long lived giants are usually pretty common in fantasy settings.
  20. Awesome that you've been able to find a name you like. With that said I'd still like to share my thoughts on the Nunh and Tia titles. I think, and I could be wrong, that some people sort of look down on the Tia title. Not exactly their fault as some of the lore I've seen kind of puts the Nunh in a better light as the tribe's strongest male and being able to make babies but that's sort of it. Tias on the other hand can do all sorts of things in the tribes and the tribal leaders will carry the title of Tia instead of Nunh most of the time. Personally I'm also not too fond of seeing a bunch of players running around with the Nunh title since the Nunh's job is to protect the tribe and make babies it doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me for them to be running around having adventures in the far reaches of Eorzea. That isn't to say that they aren't the Nunh to a smaller sister tribe that's starting up and haven't found a place to settle yet as I'm sure it happens now and then. As for the title changing from Tia to Nunh or Nunh to Tia I don't think it would happen very often and I'm talking years possibly decades since there are only two ways for a Tia to become a Nunh and that's either to beat the tribe's current Nunh or to get the favor of enough women to leave with him to make his own sister tribe. Nunh to Tia would happen even less I think since it's hinted that often the end of those challenges to become Nunh ends in a death. Not saying it always ends in a death but it wouldn't shock anyone in the tribe if either the current Nunh or the hopeful were killed in the challenge. Think I started to ramble on again... sorry about that.
  21. I can answer a few of those questions! I'll start with the getting around part first, as you mentioned you can teleport after you've gone and attuned with a crystal in the area and that would be the fasted way to get there. The lvl 15 main story quest also rewards you with an airship pass so travel between the 3 major cities after that is pretty darn fast! After that you have your own two legs and at around lvl 25 you'll get your own personal chocobo that you can call to your side pretty much anywhere! So most of your travelling will still be done on foot or on your mount but the zones are beautiful to look at and don't take a huge amount of time to get around once you've got your chocobo. Not a whole lot on the lore portion really and most of what I've seen get RPed is a mix of the little lore we do know about the races along with player choices that seem to be accepted. A few things I do know about the Keepers of the Moon lore is that they are a matriarchal people and tend to keep to themselves, especially the males. (Might be mixing that part up with the Seekers though so don't quote me on it. ) They also live in small family units instead of the large tribes that the Seekers are from. As for the events of 1.0 I think there is a thread on here somewhere with a write up of what happened AND most if not all of the main story cut scenes from 1.0. Hope this helps and welcome to the RPC!
  22. Six tattoos, lip and left ear are pierced (Would have more but been having a problem with them rejecting sadly). At the moment nothing special with my hair really but I had dark blue hair in highschool/college then when I first started rocking a mohawk it was alternating black and red. Still have the hawk though it's pretty short right now and my natural hair colour.
  23. I see a lot of star wars races. I aprove.
