  1. Actually that red striped sign showed that the barber also did bleedings, that thing where they would put leeches on you because they thought bleeding was healthy. Also if there was a blue stripe in there too they tripled as the dentist. *shudders* ANYWHO! I'd like to see braided stuff for miqo'te males even if it was just giving them the 3 other options for that style with the thick braids. I forget what race but male highlander or roes have 4 versions of that hair while the male miqo's only get 1. More facial hair options would be nice too as I'm not a huge fan of "You want this beard? Well then you have to use this face." I know the faces have different shapes to them but it still kind of seems like a step backwards by locking some customization options to specific faces.
  2. I understand putting a level cap on the beta but that kind of restricts the pvp testing to legacy players. I know things won't change but I think it would have been better for them to have the cap be 30 with job quests disabled instead of having the cap be 20. I do understand time restrictions as 3 days isn't that long but wouldn't it be in their best interest to have as many people testing it as they can instead of leaving it up to just the legacy group?
  3. Personally I'm not a huge fan of the small scale arena style PvP but I'm those PvP zones that have objectives for us to capture and stuff.
  4. I think the only piece of gear that doesn't show up on your character now are the belts. They didn't show up on characters in the beta and I remember reading that they took our belt display for some reason, this could change though and I really hope it does so we can see some of the cool sashes and belts used in RP outfits.
  5. Isn't that a contradiction though? They are still 1 handed bladed weapons, you just have two of them and hold them differently. I'm curious to what makes it okay for another class to use daggers, by your definition one of the weapons that is exclusive to gladiators, and not for another class to be able to use a sword? I'm speaking strictly from a lore perspective here.
  6. The difference is that Conjurer and Thaumaturge are given specific qualifications and boundaries for the weapons that they use. And Gladiators are not. Gladiators are given a blanket green light on all single handed blades. Unless they change that lore to say something more specific, it will remain true and prevent new classes from using single-handed swords. -Conjurers must use wands and staves made from unworked wood. -Thaumaturges must use scepters and staves made from metals, ores, or bone, and require a gemstone through which to channel their aether. -"Gladiators specialize in the handling of all manner of one-handed blades, from daggers to longswords, be they single- or double-edge, straight or curved." Quoted straight from the Main Site Gladiator page. You're basically asking FFXIV to retcon the basic concept of Gladiator just so that Blue Mage can have a scimitar. Why not a whip? It's a much more appropriate weapon and it doesn't currently exist in Eorzea. This does mean that any future sword wielding class would either need to be two handed or share their weapon with GLD. Now, one way that they could work this would be to have the special weapon (be it scimitar, rapier etc.) grant a special bonus/ penalty to the new class/GLD respectively. This would make it disadvantageous for a GLD to wield a scimitar, but would not prevent them from equipping it. However, you run into the further problem that the main hand weapon function as the " I am switching classes" button. To fix this you could give the new class a different main hand item that functions more like a shield and have them equip the scimitar in the off hand(effectively making them all leftys). But deciding on a main item that works for all the classes future jobs could be quite troublesome. For those reasons I think that it is highly unlikely that they would give them an already existing weapon, unless it is made into a job instead of a class. all future classes will come with a new weapon, yoshi p. has basically if not explicitly said this already. So I would have to agree with Sou on this one, either they will have to recon GLD being able to use all one handed blades, or no other class will ever be released with a one handed blade. I had made an edit to my post while they had replied to it already. All I'm saying is that specializing in something doesn't make it exclusive to you, it just means you are really good with it. I'll use thief as a theoretical example. It wouldn't be too much of a stretch to assume thief would use daggers, daggers fall under the gladiator's realm of 1 handed blades that they specialize in. Now thief could dual wield daggers using the pugilist/monk mechanic of 1 item but 2 weapons and for arguments sake lets say they are also classified as Dual Daggers. This wouldn't cause any problems in keeping the classes separate or accidental class switching or confusion but would still allow the thief to use daggers. Anyways my point is just that specializing in something isn't the same as something being exclusive. As for why some of us would like to see BLU using a sword? I can only speak for myself as I had a great time playing BLU in 11 and I don't think it would be too much of a stretch to believe that if it came to 14 that it would have similarities to the BLUs from 11. With that said Bard in 14 is nothing like it was in 11 so yeah sometimes things change or work differently than what we'd like or expect.
  7. I think BLU could still use 1 handed swords kind of like how both Conj and Thaum can both use 2 handed staffs. If I'm not mistaken the relic weapons for both WHM and BLM are staffs so I don't see why they couldn't add another set of swords with the BLU tag on it. Also I haven't played GLA in the beta so I don't know much of the lore given by the guild story BUT the class description says that they specialize in one handed blades including daggers. If a thief class was added we can assume they will use daggers so my question is what exactly makes the sword exclusive to GLA and PLD?
  8. This is a very exciting idea and I think it wouldn't be too far of a stretch for them to be from Vana and I think that FFXI and FFXIV might take place in the same mythos/universe as each other just like how FFXII and the Tactics games are part of the same mythos/universe and I think FFXIII, FFXV, and... fack I think it's called Type-0. It was a psp game that only released in japan and I forget the name! Anyways I remember a while back when 13 was still being worked on that those 3 games were part of the same mythos/universe. With that said I'd also like to explore another possibility! Could it be possible that the Mamool Ja are just from another part of Hydaelyn that maybe use different terminology? Eorzea to them could be like living on a completely different world. You also made mention of a Great Empire to the east. Now this could be reference to Aht Urhgan but it could also mean the Garlean Empire since the realm of Eorzea is found on Hydaelyn's western most continent along with islands. So that leaves 2 more great continents along with anything else that might be out there. I still think it would be a little fantastic if the Mamool Ja actually did come from Vana though and that raises the question about the goblins and such.
  9. Guess I'll join in! So I've decided to change up U'zhan a bit, mainly his skin colour and the colour of his face markings. I find it adds more of an exotic look to the boy from the desert, also I found his first look was way too similar to a few other male miqo'te I've seen.
  10. I honestly don't think it would be game breaking for the reasons I've already mentioned. At the end of the day though it's the dev's choice and who knows maybe summoners will get some sort of ability on a long cool down that buffs up the Egi and makes them larger for a bit similar to Beastial Wrath from wow OR maybe something similar to Astral Flow from FFXI but they take on the full primal form to unleash their ability.
  11. I know they were used as healers a lot in FFXI though with the focus on DoTs and debuffs I have a feeling summoners in ARR may be a bit more like Warlocks from WoW. With that being said it's just my opinion from what I know about the class and we will all find out in phase 4. (Unless I have missed something along the way and it's very likely as I haven't been keeping up with summoner and such.) As for needing line of sight of your pet or to target them to pull of some abilities. Well it may be something we need to consider but I doubt that will be the case but just like saying that you need the pet to be bigger so you can pick it out in a crowd is kind of a poor excuse for a couple of reasons. 1) As stated they do seem to float quite high off the ground. (Granted this may not be the case for all of them though.) 2) If you can't pick them out because of all the weapon/spell effects going of then go into your settings turn some of them off. 3) The summons have a pretty distinct look to them so couple that with turning off effects from other players should make them easier to spot. 4) Multiple summoners due to a large group for a raid/FATE or still having trouble after turning off effects from other players? You can easily make a macro to target the Egi. I understand that a larger pet could make things easier to pick them out yes and please understand that steps can be taken on both sides for various reasons. You could turn spell effects off to better find your Egi while I could turn them off so there isn't another glowing thing in my face. I'll I'm saying is that the road goes both ways that steps that the melee can take to avoid the Egi being annoying can also be applied to help the summoner keep track of their Egi.
  12. Those eyes man! They look like they can see right through you. <3
  13. I can see things from both sides here, I've played the pet classes in other games aswell as Melee and I've had my share of things getting in my way be it other players or a pet that has some pathing issues. I think some of the concern here is not so much that the summon is on top of you but has positioned itself in front of your camera because of poor pathing or what have you. Also keep in mind that if you make them taller you also have to make them wider, and while we have Roes running around they also aren't full of glowy particle effects. Some of these effects can be turned off mind you as I'm pretty sure I remember an option to turn off weapon/spell effects that were not my own. So even if you make them a bit taller like that you are still adding to the volume of them and I'd be willing to bet that some of them might end up being wider than a Roe and glowing. Again it's not much different than having a player get in your way. Also as mentioned summoners only harness a sliver of the primal's power and from a lore point of view this may just be as much of that power as a summoner can handle without risk of losing control.
  14. Recently had to reformat my laptop so don't have much on my HDD at the moment! Anywho I'm playing a bit of: Skyrim. (Though mainly modding and not much playing. XP) Xcom: Enemy Uknown. Messing with GW2 again though not much. Slowly working on ME3 on my xbox. Games I'm waiting for are: FFXIV: ARR. Destiny. Titanfall looks cool but I'm not huge on those big PvP shooters. Saints Row 4! Will be getting Shadowrun Returns when I have the money. Oh the 3 Legend of Zelda games that are being worked on at the moment! Was really excited for Monster Hunter Online but after doing some digging I now understand that it will most likely not see a release outside of China. The PS4 and Deep Down. FFXV Kingdom Hearts 3 OH OH OH!!!!!! Warhammer 40k: Eternal Crusade!!!!! (Please please PLEASE let there be Honour Guard armour for us to get.) And the list goes on but I've taken up enough of your time with my silly post.
  15. The apology has been made and I hope that some misunderstanding have been cleared up so I think it would be best if we just let it go and stop posting on this thread. So with respect I ask that we all just leave this be.
  16. So this is probably pretty close to how I look now just with a shorter hawk and no facial hair. Also no idea how to use spoilers so nyah.
  17. *Smooshes face up against computer screen.* AM I CLOSE ENOUGH?!
  18. There isn't a lot to go on from what I've seen. I had mentioned in an earlier post about some NPC banter I had seen in a Miqo'te village that possibly hinted at a few things such as the Nunh and a female having to plan their interactions in advance. Also thinking on it a bit more it may also suggest that there would be little to no recreational sex involving the Nunh and that the focus of the Couplings, as the NPCs put it, is to simply try to produce offspring. As for what age a female enters sexual maturity or if there is an obligation to have a child or not I can only speculate. Using that village as an example again the women there are great hunters so it wouldn't surprise me if some of them chose when they wanted to try for children instead of having an obligation to do so. Again just my thoughts on some observations I've made while in the beta.
  19. I didn't do much exploring in the Sagolii due to my level so is there a second group of NPCs out there? I'm just curious because I know Forgotten Springs houses a bunch of Drake tribe Miqo'te. Now I'm sorry if this next issue has already been brought up as I only skimmed over most of the thread. From my skimming I got the vibe that a few people seem to think being a Nunh goes hand in hand with being a tribal leader. While this -can- happen SE's blurb on it says that it's very rare for a Nunh to actual hold any sort of leadership role in the tribe. Again there are exceptions and as I said it's -rare- not -impossible-. Also from bits of NPC dialogue it seems, at least in my opinion, that he can't just simply walk up to any of the women and get some tail any time he wants. This could be different for each tribe so please keep in mind that I'm speaking strictly about the Drake tribe in Forgotten Springs. Now in one of the buildings there you can find two women talking and one of them asks the other "When is your next coupling?" In my opinion this suggests that the Nunh and the women have to plan when they get together to mate. Also close by there is another woman who talks about the Nunh ignoring/not caring about his duties, suggesting that she's not very happy with the current Nunh. Now we can all get something different from NPC banter like this but for me anyways I'd like to think that the women still hold a lot of sway over the Nunh and can refuse him should they consider him unfit for his duties.
  20. I will probably be rushing to 15 in the first few hours so I can go play with other people. Then slow down a bit to start crafting/gathering and all teh RPs!
  21. He froze up as Abai left him there and not knowing what to do he bolted back to his stool! "Could I get a glass of wine then?" He chuckled nervously, oh this wasn't going to end well for him.
  22. "Wha! WHAT?!" He flailed some as he dragged from his stool at the bar and for the first few steps he had to hop on only one foot before catching up to the excited woman. "I'm not even that good of a dancer, haven't dance since I was little..." He protested but it didn't seem like it was getting him anywhere and he simply followed in silence.
  23. He finally spoke up again after what seemed like too much silence even from him. "Well there are a lot of open place outside the city, we could go out there to spar." He offered as Abai tended to the other miqo'te.
  24. He nodded a couple of times, white hair bouncing lightly. "Just not in here? I don't think it would be a good idea unless you were planning on dragging me onto the stage to put on a show for everyone to see..." His eyes when wide after he spoke, oh gods did he just give the woman an idea? He quickly hurried off to find a place to sit in hopes of avoiding being dragged up right that moment.
  25. U'zhan came back into the tavern with a bit of an ashamed look on his face. He stopped to look around before he marched right up to Abai and looked up at the woman. "I forgot... It would be nice to spar with you sometime."
