  1. My friends and I did this too. We were never the ones who killed the boss but we were part of the battle. The Lich King is a good example of this as it would make sense to imagine the armies clashing in and outside of the dungeon.
  2. Like others I don't mind multi-classing in RP so long as people keep things balanced. I myself will probably end up leveling most of the classes and jobs eventually but dragoon or paladin will probably be my main focus along with mining and blacksmithing. Now to answer the question of why would I level everything on just U'zhan even if the class doesn't fit the character from an IC point of view? Simply put I would find it to be a hassle and a bit of a waste of time to drag my feet through the main story quests to get my airship pass and chocobo again along with running around to touch all the crystal not to mention DoW/DoM gear you can pick up from dungeons. I'm not in character all the time and personally I've never had anyone who knew I was a RPer come over and start RPing with me while I was out questing. So again simply put starting a new character in this game just to level a new class requires far more effort than other games that lock mounts and such to a level and not story progression.
  3. We are quite stylish aren't we?
  4. As the title suggests it's Canada's birthday so a quick Happy Canada Day to all the other Canadians who may happen to be a part of this awesome community!

    Hello ^_^

Well I'm glad we gave you a good laugh this morning.
  6. Going to go ahead and post my thoughts here too! I'm another who played a bit of 1.0 but I didn't even play on any of the servers that had any RP that I knew of. I did make it to lvl 30 and unlocked dragoon but I was never really invested in the game just sort of played it on and off. Anyways! I'm personally all for joining an "established" server. Sure there are some people who want to get their head starts in levels and even use new server status to get a jump on the economy. Me though? I'm happy to know there are those who can offer insight to not only classes/jobs but also to the lore. I forget what else I wanted to say... not a good idea to type this out while pretty tired and being in a skype call. >.<

    Hello ^_^

*Blows nose and eats chocolate.* Now we just have all the cat people running around! *Looks at tail.* OHGODIMONEOFTHEM!
  8. Endgame seems to do that to a lot of people. Like you I was a successful hunter topping the charts through most of the content. (After I dived back into doing content late in BC.) Also like you I felt that if I could do so well then others should too. I never lashed out at people but I would make comments about things in private from time to time and depending on who you talk to that's just as bad if not worse than lashing out as I never offered any constructive criticism.

    Hello ^_^

RPed a lot on WoW actually. Didn't have the tram tunnel issue cause i played horde but I think everyone WoW RPer knows the horror of Goldshire. *joins you the corner and also starts to cry*
  10. Took a look at that thread and just wow... Edit: Now going through the entire thread I noticed there is a link back to one of our own threads by a not so pleasant individual from the posts he's made here. Now I understand there isn't anything we can really do about it but I did think it was worth mentioning.
  11. As MMO players this is definitely something that most of us have experienced in some for or another. My first experience was after I started playing WoW but unlike other examples given where the player getting blamed was a tank or healer I was a DPS being blamed by the tank. It was my first dungeon run, one of the SM wings, and the tank kept losing threat to the mage then started yelling at me saying it was my job to keep mobs off the mage. That experience completely pushed me away from doing anything more than soloing and it wasn't until near the end of BC and after I had been lvl 70 for quite a while that I dived back into dungeons and then eventually pvp. Before that I had played FFXI where I found most people to be friendly and freely offered helpful advice and also where noob wasn't used to insult someone. So the community attitude was quite a shift, I also feel like I'm rambling on now so yeah... *shushes*
  12. It's been stated a few times that there will be a wipe at the end of phase 3 and that phase 4 will carry over when the game launches unless they need to do another wipe for whatever reason. So unless I've missed something and this has changed we will be starting over at least once more.
  13. There was no PvP in 1.0 so that has little to do with it. But it's the same reason in most games the large ugly-ish race is always underrepresented. Also the fact that they were only able to be males also limits them. Galka in FFXI were the least populous race, as were Roegadyn in 1.0. They attract certain people, but they're not as universally aesthetically pleasing like the majority of the other races. It actually pretty much boggles my mind that anyone could not see how obvious it is as to why they're less popular. They're not humans, they aren't pretty elves, they aren't catgirl/boy tropes. Even lalafell have higher populations because of their abundance of cute stereotypes. So the gritty hulking race is clearly going to be the least played out of the bunch. Even some races that are large and have some aesthetically pleasing features tend to be under represented. Aman from TERA have the appeal of being dragonkin but were under represented they were by no means the least popular race though. TERA also has a pretty big pvp crowd so Aman do tend to stand out when the field is full of people half your size. >.<

    Hello ^_^

Welcome! I did a bit of RP back when I played FFXI too but I found my fix on Asura.
  15. All the doodles! Love how U'zhan turned out.
  16. I give you U'zhan wearing some light clothing for desert travel sitting quietly on his best friend Kai!

    /wave

Welcome! And apparently there might be one last weekend for phase 3 but either way you still have time.
  18. Thanks for hosting this guys, had a blast even if the group did just going around picking up things Merri "lost". It made for a lot of fun and even educational for me as I now know where the Drake tribe is located so will be tweeking U'zhan a bit. It is a shame no one took a screen cap of those worms though, think we were all too busy going "RWAR! DIE DIE DIE OHGODDONTEATME!!!!"
  19. Welcome welcome! Hope you make some great friends here and have a blast playing with us~
  20. The discussion had gotten pretty popular on another thread but I think that thread wasn't meant for such a discussion to get that big. If I'm wrong then feel free to simply ignore/lock/and or remove this topic should any mod see fit to do so~ Now then we all have our opinions on this matter and many of us have shared those opinions already but lets just take a step back and look at these two server types objectively for a moment and see what's really different about them. First off we have the name and I'm willing to admit that tagging a server as "Legacy" does sort of make it sound special and for the cool kids. All that tag is really saying though is "Hey! You have a character from 1.0? Cool, you can keep playing that character here." Next we have the economy. This has been a concern of many people it seems as a few have mentioned that they would rather help shape the economy of a server rather than hop into one that's already established. Now the point I want to make here is that both server types will need to build up their economy. Yes legacy characters will start off with more gil and some items but I think this may just be a kick start to the economy to get it off the ground a tad quicker. Prices are bound to start out high and then hopefully smooth out regardless of what server you're on. I could see low level crafting materials being a bit of an issue on legacy servers but with the changed so gathering and crafting classes I'm hoping that will just sort itself out. Community. This seems to be where a lot of people have issues so lets just stay calm, take a deep breath, and step back for a moment. RPC is not the only pre-established community out there, just like any other MMO launch people are using the betas and the hype to build up LS/FCs before the game is out. So with that being said cliques and in crowds will have already been formed on just about every server, this also leads in to those who will rush to level cap and dive into endgame. I'm willing to bet that after the first month there won't be much difference between the two servers other than the ability to have continued with your 1.0 character on those with a Legacy tab. These are just some of the things I've been thinking about the last couple of days while out of town. Feel free to leave your thoughts and comments or to simply move along to another topic. Cheers!
  21. *Steals the pie and runs off.* I'll just take this... Oh and welcome!
  22. I've seen a lot of posts about anime inspired pretty things so lets not forget that anime can also have a lot of ugly, disgusting, and down right disturbing things in it. After all variety is the spice of life!
