Hi there, Just self indulgently bumping this thread in case it were missed. I will however mask that intent by asking a question. Has anyone ever tried rp-ing a moshit? Like everyone run around in a circle for a given amount of time and the character with the lowest /random has to emote getting trampled, spilling their drink or ending up flailing in that section were all the old bikers are waiting to club some one into paste. Could be fun. -Savo

YARN! And flowerprint underwear.

The Miners at Nanawa have, in their generosity (and to break the rather crushing tedium of their labor) have allowed yet another 'Night at The Cliffs.' So bring a thick skinned version of yourself or enough hard-drugs/liquor to invent a thick skinned version of yourself and join us for a night of deliberately offensive poetry, artillery music and a clientele whose test of adulthood is to shave their pubes with sandpaper (Actually, that last part we aren't sure of, but it would explain their generally surly demeanor).

...I get the feeling that all of the restrictions are aimed in the general direction of this cat. Nevertheless, Savo enters her name to the list and hopes for the best.

balmung Street Thief / Burglar in need of marks or contacts!
Savo replied to Coda's topic in Chronicled Connections
Hi there, My character, Savo, is an opportunistic thief (aspiring musician) who lives in a sewer drain on peal lane. If your character prowls the lane and the quicksand it is likely that these two characters, yours and mine, would know of one another. Also, there is a pretty decent and established community of thieves, lowlifes, cats with fleas, whores and general miscreants (+Ul'dah's unofficial village idiot) active on pearl lane lately. More would be merrier...the place has a reputation to ruin. As far as RPing robbery, I agree it is supremely difficult since so often one of three things happen, 1) you are immediately put into a fight for your character's life...which is always a little over the top for a mere pickpocket. 2) you get caught and pitied...which for some character's is the goal, but kinda annoying if you want to play an unrepentant thief. 3) completely ignored. I find the process works best if you just goof your way through it, because if you are amusing about it...they are less likely to hit you with an axe. Assume everyone is the chosen one, every character is the center of the universe and you are moving into their space. Starting with a /tell message kills it for me too, I like to walk up and just drop the text on them, but for best results I have to scour the place looking for some one who wants something bad happen to their character...and there are always a few (usually the innocent and cute types...who will use the event to ingratiate themselves with a stronger character and come back and kick the crap out of you...which is kinda the fun part anyway). good luck with the larceny. sincerely -savo -
Hey everyone! I'm bumping this thread because if you are late you might miss Cici and Mina...they're on first so hurry chaps!

The seaside bar, for a better class of mischief. Yay! I'll be there!

I was so happy to see you and some other JH-RP tags, I know how opposite the times zones are for you chaps. Thank you very much for lending your support. I'll be seeing you all tomorrow at the seaside bar.

Thanks to everyone who supported this event, it was really fun for Marcellain and myself. We made a lot of noise, used a lot of profanity, suffered exactly zero trolls, Gwyn gave out free beer, Marcy's fan club showed up in force with one pair of bunny ears and only two pairs of underwear between them (and Renaux didn't account for the ears but may have been wearing panties) and finally no one shooed off the Viol player for trying to rhyme 'autoerotic' with 'frolic.' (Technically, they do rhyme.) At any rate, It's not enough for a unwashed miqo kit and an overly preened vanity bard to have enjoyed it. If those that attended had...we'll do it again...and Marcy will have a new hat. -once we figured out what happened to him. Sincerely Savo's Viol

I'm sure Seveno is a cat Savo would go out of her way to meet.

Weee, more suncats! That isn't actually sarcasm, I really love having those 'daytime' cats around to antagonize. Welcome to Balmung. I was also overjoyed to switch to this server after a long and hard slog on other ones.

Selfishly bumping this post up because it is tomorrow night. But rather than seem like that is what I am doing, I will mask the intent with a few questions about the nanawa mines. 1) in the building across from the promenade, there is a hyur inside looking for something on the shelves there...what the hell is he looking for? 2) the miners at the table out front the promenade building...how long is their smoke break? they've been there a while. 3) would anyone want to sleep in the beds there? Has anyone crashed there? 4) has anyone discussed the possibility of hiring at least one duskwight? they are a subterranean people anyway. they could live in the mine too...the commute would be very reasonable. cheers -Savo's viol.

It's alright Momo, we have fashioned a Momo-effigy that we will move randomly around the place. Folks will only know of your absence if they go so far as to proposition the mannequin. We have yet to find some one willing to sit inside the trojan-momo and reply appropriately. Hopefully things will go well, moral support is greatly appreciated! -sincerely A 10-string viol and the cat who comes with it

balmung Exuberant Miqo'te Needing a Curious Researcher for Plot Development
Savo replied to Pink's topic in Chronicled Connections
While my character, Savo, would be utterly useless to Ammeha and her condition, I think it would be amusing for our characters to know each other. My reasoning is that you describe Ammeha as firstly, a blacksmith which is not immediately taken to be exceptional. I have great respect for players who find enjoyment in playing the average citizens of a fantasy realm rather than its heroes. The second is that Ammeha seems to faithfully represent a Seeker of the Sun in temperament. Savo is an archetypal Keeper and opposite Ammeha in every measurable way (Save the skepticism with magic). They'd drive each other mad...which makes for fun roleplay especially if they might find a reason to be friends despite this. At any rate, Hello -Savo -

Thats right! That is one I came back in on. Everyone was talking about that one when I dashed back in. Now that I think about it, I did get the tail end of that (It was a very short time I was gone). That did get a great reaction. Im sorry I missed it. *sigh*

I feel terrible, but my work called me during what would have been Aya's performance. I was so distracted that I think I might have missed it. Could some one tell me if this is the case.
-
I was overjoyed. Thanks to everyone who came. Thanks to Nathan and Ciel for hosting. The Aria is such a pleasure to watch a show at. Everyone brought something. Kasumi opened the show with her Kabuki sword dance. The eloquence of the language matched the grace it was describing. I know kasumi has had a lot of practice doing this but some of ther persons in my group didn't and I really liked reading the reactions of the players to the eroticism she can write into anything. Almost a debut, she is the centerpiece of Menphina's respite and she has all manner of exotic routines. Nebula, the reigning queen of exciting emote strings. In my mind I always imagine Nebula singing long soulful notes like whitney friggen houston...Nebula, tell me if that is not the intent, because I read your songs that way. Nebula was dressed as a pirate and she shot the orchestration machine to turn it on...that sort of behavior wins a lot of points with this listener. Odette is on the better side of poetry. The music was also described phenomenally. She has a great sense of pace that really added a tempo to her performance (I suspect she and I read at the exact same speed, because it was perfect for me). She had visual effects to. Like the other two times I have seen Odette the thing that strikes me is the description of the music, it really puts the sound in my head. I have a hard time doing this myself so I pay special attention to the way odette does it. Quri's debut was an especially nice metaphor. A cat hunting a bird as lovers. The performance was with a rustic flute and a skin drum which made me think a bit like I was watching a witch doctor. She was also clever to vividly describe the character within the text of the performance leaving us all wanting to get to see more of her...and at least one lonely cat thinking: damn that skink is hot. Macy was just as expected. Kinda too cool for his own hat. An exceptional bit of poetry that I now will endorse as server wide canon to be a staple song of the twelveswood. Immediately timeless. If he is kind he will post the lyrics and we can sing along the next time it is heard. Marcy also styles the character as foppish enough to laugh at and flawed enough to adore. The character IS the performance. Mina and Cici, this would be the second act I had seen of theirs, and it was a duet interspersed with comedy. This is really hard to pull off and these two players do it seamlessly. Mina was the straight-man for this performance. Savo is convinced that Blendship, Oke and Forgate are all legitimate words. This performance, hands down, got the most energetic reaction...it was fucking brilliant. Arralaine gave the first true aria at the aria. A soulful song about telling about tragic love. The song was set into Scarborough Faire (an old song) and reinterpreted perfectly for an Eorzean setting. We also got really well written descriptions of motion and emotion that reflected the mournful lyrics (The original is real ethereal...like a dirge) and you could tell how the sound was flowing by the descriptions Arraleine applied to the character. Leanne's song, I admit, I read it as a lot more aggressive and abrasive than was intended...but I fucking loved it. In my defense, she began by deliberately detuning her guitar which is kinda punk rock. Leanne and her guitar took the angle of the frustrated love sick. We got three verses (I am mostly sure it was three, correct me if I am wrong) of a girl letting us know she isn't going to fall for that shit again. IC this was Savo's favorite. Tiroro set us up by saying the performance was ancient. (Like marcy, had attributed their original work to some other source..this is the soul of modesty) It was made more poignant that Tiroro standing doing nothing makes one's heart drop, let alone singing a moving tune. In my group I counted thirteen emotes of gushing between six players. It evoked an earnestness and literal sweetness (like it was a song that was translated...which begs the question, was that on purpose, because it worked). Nathan...if the bards of the free cities needed a king (we don't...we're bards) you would be anointed by whatever god decides that sort of thing. Also, Nathan and Ciel, who put on the show deliberately took the last two spots, which often is where attention starts to flag. This again shows the generosity of the hosts. We were treated to a piece he knew would resonate everyone in the room. I shan't spoil it. Nathan post the lyrics for everyone who wasn't there. Ciel was the last performance and hers was styled operatic. This worked so well since ciel is a tall blonde Elezen...like wagner (vagner) couldnt have invented a singer more appropriate than Ciel. She was dressed like she was in the eye of a sunbeam and glowed like a chandelier. I felt that the piece was perfect to close the show, like it was an expose of the extent of art. (It may not have been intentional but it felt like Ciel was just reminding everyone just how beautiful opera can be when done right) -one sewercat's opinion

This event was amazingly fun! Marcellain was brilliant.

Regarding Liandra, I've run into her a couple of times. I can attest to the fact that she is a very amicable roegadame. You can find her on emerald avenue at the rather less common side of the night. She likes a bit of witty repartee, doesn't hate music and can tolerate fleas for more minutes than most folks in thanalan. Also, she's huge, she's hot, and she is smarter than the last suncat you talked to! sincerely -savo the sewercat

Five Reasons Your Character Would Approach a Stranger (And Other Prompts)
Savo replied to Verad's topic in RP Discussion
While Savo will generally engage with anyone with very little provocation, the following requisites attract her interest consistently. 1> To rob you. This can be in addition to any of the following reasons. 2> You are making music. 3> You are an attractive, charming Elezen. 4> You seem dangerous and thus some one she ought to get a sense of. 5> You look lost. A lost, infamous, Elezen who can play the accordion; will definitely get robbed. -

Is naming a sea wolf Wuthering Heights phonetically also a possibility. Say something like: Wuthryn Hyts, or Whythenyn Haigts? Then when asked what it means translated you might say it means: Victorian Affair or Torrid Passion. Also Cassyryn Yrmshaw makes a pretty cool Sea Wolf name. -just some thoughts.
