1. (Okay I changed it to Friday. If your character wants to volunteer please reply here with a quick IC letter if you can ^^)
2. ((Would Friday night (March 30th) be better for people? I didn't realize we had nothing planned for then yet, so it's possible to change if enough people prefer that instead.))
3. HELP CURE SICK KIDS Attention all Healers, Alchemists, Chefs, and Performers of all kinds! Many hard working parents in Ul'dah cannot afford the high prices of potions and other remedies offered by a local establishment and city merchants for their children, who suffer of illness. A healthy community is a happy community! A healthy community is a productive community! A healthy community is a just community! Join the cause to help Ul'dah's sick kids today! You can volunteers as a: Performer - Entertain the audience for donations for the cause. Compensation for lengthy performances is debatable! Alchemist - Create free or low cost medicine to prevent future illness. Funding for such will be available! Cook - Provide meals for those gathered and the kids. A full belly goes a long way in recovery! Healer - Restoring the sick kids back to health. We need you most of all! We will set up a tent to tend to kids in Gold Court on the 30th Sun of this Moon, on the 21st bell. Performances, free food, and other events will take place nearby, so please visit even if you cannot volunteer! Donate and save the city's youth! This event is sponsored by the Everwatch. All interested persons please send your ravens to the Everwatch HQ located in the Adder's Nest, Gridania. ((OOC info: [spoil]This is a purely IC event, and no actual items need to be made or distributed, unless you wish to do so! Same is said for any Gil transactions, no Gil will be charged off your person, but keep in mind that the character is donating it, so keep donations within their means. All healing will be role-played out, and will be for the most part text based. Performances are encouraged to be RP'ed out as well! Since this is purely a volunteer gig, nothing needs to be too fancy. Assuming that flyers went out to the poorer neighborhoods of Ul'dah, there should be a number of kids assumed present ages 5-12, among the crowd of Player Characters. I will make note of this during the event, but please feel free to RP with a kid in the crowd, as I cannot possibly DM the entire event and keep up with all the interactions! I may randomly start an encounter and leave the RP'ers to continue it, if they wish. I hope to get some nice turn out as it could be a good way to unite for a noble cause. No one can object to healing sick kids right? To volunteer please respond IC'ly to this thread and we'll assume that was sent to the Everwatch HQ. Even if you cannot volunteer IC'ly please do your best to come by and RP Time & Place: March 30th at 9pm EST Ul'dah Gold Court[/spoil]
4. Oh yes, yes I pretty much volunteered earlier. I wouldn't sign up for the Enforcer role though as I keep to IC only too often and don't see the text a lot of the time. The "make a list" comment earlier just made me think you were putting people down for the role automatically, is all. If that's not the case then ignore my last suggestion, as it seems you were following it anyway ^^
5. Eva and I talked about locking or giving the thread a warning - to stop the negative cycle of reactions to the incident with what appears to be two sides, each from a different linkshell, which looks like a recipe for disaster. Then we asked Gospel since this thread did essentially become about Intermission, and he okay'ed to lock it. Please note that we're not trying to silence people, but would also not tolerate a flame war based on finger pointing. Gospel seems to have taken steps in the right direction with his thread outlining the rules of Intermission. If you have comments/concerns, please feel free to speak up, but more "he said she said" will only hurt us as a whole, not make the situation better. Hopefully we can recover and learn something from this incident, and continue to move forward in making this community awesome. :approve:
6. I suggest you, uh, ask people beforehand. Sort of start fresh, and then grow by adding more 'enforcers' and 'pearl givers', you know what I mean? Otherwise people may feel that they were volunteered without choice. I know it's silly since a lot of people are pearl givers now, but if you want to make this a legit "role" within the LS, you have to ask for volunteers. Not sure if you were doing that or not, but just wanted to mention it.
7. A step in the right direction, at least now it would be easier to tell people who to contact! I do wish you'd maybe leave some people (like myself) pearling rights, as I tend to give out plenty of them. Have moderators who can enforce the rules, and a few extra hands who can't, but can still give out pearls? Maybe just 2-3, to make sure pearl distribution doesn't suffer. Just an idea.
8. Thank you so much for the response Aysun! I really, really appreciated reading your take on things. To clarify since you were wondering, Everwatch is still very much committed to it's goals, despite the more recent personal indecent which bled over into the work place, so to speak. I really dig that you keep an eye on the journals though, so thanks. We've a number of members, but yes, it is a small Linkshell by comparison to some others, which can be perceived as dying. But, it's always been small so far honestly, because of our recruiting policy, heavy RP style, and on top of that a sort of a niche concept that even if a person can join and fit in with us in terms of RP style, it just wouldn't make sense for their character to work there. But for a small shell, while not many may show for public events due to scheduling conflicts, we are hyper-active when it comes to LS events. LIke, every damn night there is RP (usually some event which is tied to a story, or just IC way to do something gameplay related like Ifrit or Job quests). So, that view of the LS was very refreshing for me to see, hence the overly long clarification! Awesome post. I couldn't have ever seen it that way myself.
9. Yep, great background! Love it! Welcome to the community and lean toward heavy more! We need that :cheer:

11. As person who isn't part of Everwatch, what are your thoughts on the LS? What experiences have you had with us? What have you heard about us? I want to know because it's hard to sense oneâs place in the larger community from within, and one of our LS goals is to be a part of the RP community. Please speak your mind freely and clearly. I know a lot of people are iffy about commenting on Linkshells as a whole in public, for fear of offending someone, but I think having open discourses would actually help my Linkshell and the rest of the RP community to know what Everwatch is about. We are ready to hear negative feedback, and change accordingly, if we see fit to. Or at least be aware of whatâs being said in the community, and possibly introduce some clarity to the public. This is very much an experiment as I am sure folks talk about other Linkshells in private, but never in public. Please, speak your mind, whatever you feel, whatever youâve heard, whatever youâve experienced. Itâs all fair game. All we ask is that you explain your views a little bit beyond âYou guys are great,â or âYou suck!â as those reasons will help us see things better. Maybe we can even build some sort of a public trust, or at least, prove that mature, open, discussions about Linkshells can happen, and by doing so, be more open with each other.
12. Endemerrin covered your questions, so I'd like to just give you a warm welcome! Just a clarification/more info, the OOC shell he mentioned is called "Intermission" and it's an OOC shell for all RPers on the server, so yeah, getting that will get you RPing for sure. Many people currently hold pearling status, that means a pearl is easy to come by. Just make sure you've your full character name posted and someone should reach out to you. Or alternatively feel free to friend me (Oskar Helvig) and I'll hand you a pearl. Welcome to the community! PS You can use /em as a shorthand for /emote.
13. And the above is a great example why I and others keep the OOC shell tabbed 90% of the time. It's not the trolling, or cursing, it's just... OOC garbage. This is why I hoped the shell would be more RP focused, rather than just a social shell. Some people obviously do not take things as seriously as others, and are just going to be joking around even if they're being to someone else. Random OOC chat is fine, I mean, that's why most RP LSs have OOC pearls, so that people can chat OOC'ly and hopefully be on the same wavelength since they're in the same group. But when you bring that to the Intermission, where not everyone is on your wavelength, then simply tone it down to a level acceptable for the rest of the community. I feel like typing things in there that never do end up in the chat, because I feel like it's inappropriate because of people who don't share my (lack of) sensibilities. And that's fine. I am not sure what her overreaction was? The fact that she mentioned that there shouldn't be cursing? I didn't see her go on a rampage there at the top of that chat log, but maybe it's not showing everything before that.
14. You should also post your full character name by the way, so that people can track you down for the pearl. And if you need it, I'll be online now.
15. Hey there, and welcome back! Yes, there is quite a big OOC shell for all RPers, called Intermission. Shoot me a /tell in game (Oskar Helvig) and I can toss you a pearl. A lot of RPers have pearling access though so if you come across any RP, feel free to ask them for it, they might be able to give you one too. Happy to see another heavy RPer, and no that's not an attempt at weight class solidarity! I mean... deep immersion, oh Twelve that's worse. Anyway! Welcome to the community and hope to RP with you! We've a couple of active heavy RP LSs for when you want to dive in. Check out the Linkshell tab up there on top the forums.

Hola

Welcome to the Role Playing community. A lot of people have access to distribute the OOC pearl so it's always a little tough to say exactly who to contact. If you add me to your friend list and see me online though I'd be glad to hook you up! Character name's Oskar Helvig.
17. Welcome to the community (again).
18. This is how I am going to answer all questions by the way... [bBvideo 425,350] [/bBvideo]
19. 1) In person, otherwise I'd feel excluded from any potential RP that may happen. 2) Spinoffs tend to get hacky unless done /very/ well. I am thinking of something like "Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are dead" which is the offshoot of "Hamlet." Otherwise, an original play, preferably written by an IC writer-type, would be ideal. Thus if it's successful that person can play off of some fame and/or wealth. 3) I'd be interested in attending as an audience member, and maybe a performer. :joker: 4) Improv can be a tool used along with good writing to lessen the burden for the writers. For example, if you have the audience participate by calling out a phrase, and then let that effect the play. I'd really also like to see comedy/jester type performance, as a break from typical plays.
20. Welcome to the RP community.
21. I'm not sure if I am going, but a time frame would be helpful too.
22. I was under the impression that the point of OOC shell was to unite all ROLE-PLAYERS, so that we can find ways to RP easier, discuss RP, and so on. Some questions: Is this shell still a community shell or does it now have a clear leader? Does the name intermission actually supposed to mean something now, as opposed to Out Of Character which was just a name used as a clear label of the LS? Is this version of the shell have more weight on the "social shell" aspect of it than the previous? If so why? What do you mean by 'social shell'? How does this differ from the original intent behind the OOC pearl, if at all? *** Gospel, I am not sure who the "you" in your later half of the post is, but since your referenced me specifically I'll assume it's me you're addressing. You're pretty much doing the exact same thing in your post as you did in the /random combat post, which is basically creating a straw man argument and then reacting with fervor against it. I don't think there should be a "rule" against OOC chat. I never proposed that, and if I did, I'd be damn sure to make a better outlined case for it, and get more than 1-2 people on board. But it's not really what I want, so you painting it as some sort of a petition when I am clearly a minority isn't very nice. I've the tools I need to cut out the noise should I feel I need to, no need to worry about that. You did end up agreeing with me though, about RP discussions being topics of higher importance than random every day chitchat. So... again, I am not sure why you're going apeshit arguing against my post. Self-quote ftw: I don't see how you can read that and then proceed to type a reply as skewed as the one you wrote there Gospel.
23. Lots of words are being said. Everyone is getting a pat on the back for saying things. Yay. The original problem is more or less handled, from what I can tell. The rest seems to be a variety of issues brought up from frustration. Yes, it sucks when people don't show up to a planned event, using all sorts of excuses. But at the same time, I wouldn't want them to come if they need to be forced. I want this OOC shell to be used not as a social shell... but as an OOC shell full of RPers. I have very little tolerance for non-RP related OOC chat. This seems to be an issue, as people who don't mind the shell being a completely open social chat shell do NOT want other people like myself to tune out/mute. Can't have it both ways though. If you want the overall community to be involved, the shell has to do that which it claimed to want to achieve, unite all RPers under one roof. RPers, who have very little things in common aside from the fact that they RP in this game. That should be the uniting anchor. I feel that encouraging just random chatter drives away from this central focus. Don't get me wrong, I don't think we should be talking about RP all the time, but that should be one of the main draws to this LS. I had to break an ongoing chat about some non-game related thing when I had a topic I wanted to discuss that was about RP. Is this discouraged? Encouraged?
