I think we should go the opposite route, and put in threads that we want tot keep. It's sure as hell more work for me to click through the threads which are not relevant/useful than it is the other way around. EDIT: A start would be removing the closed/disbanded linkshells from the LS forum. I wouldn't delete these threads, but put them away just so that they don't clutter up the forum.

The following is posted in the Nest. [spoil]Attention Yellow Serpents! The Everwatch, a mercenary company allied with the Order of the Twin Adder, is looking for volunteers to help clear a supply line to Hyrstmill. This effort is sanctioned by the Order and volunteers will be rewarded with serpent seals. Persons interested must be well versed in the weapon of their choice and have received honors with the respective Guild, and be a member of the Order. We will meet in the Nest on the 15th Sun of this Moon and proceed from there! SIGN UP NOW! Priority will be given to Everwatch members, there is limited space! Let us know youâre coming below! (dashes for names)[/spoil] OOC Details: [spoil]Chocobo escort mission Sunday, Jan 15th at 8pm EST Lvl 50 Required We will RP before and in-between the supply runs, but for the actual missions weâll put our game face on. They are pretty intense.[/spoil]

If you hang around the Adder's Nest (Gridania's Grand Company Area) you'll run into RPers, then all you have to do is ask.

Welcome to the RPC and FFXIV in general. I may suggest you meet with someone to pick up the Server-wide "Out Of Character" Linkshell, it may help you find RP when you're ready for it, and you can ask questions into in the meanwhile
-
I'll be putting together the new set questions soon (both from the thread and here), and putting it out after the new year, so that's the rough timeline. I think the very specific bullet point questions helped get the answers the first time around, so I'll do it that way again. That means I'll be including the 'extra' stuff you put around your questions separately, because putting them out that way will likely scare the devs away, or ask loaded questions. Question I had was, what's the deal with K.O., death, and returning. How does that system work? (Gonna reformat it later with the rest of em)

*wipes brow* whew~ I thought you said descendent of a dragon there for a sec! Welcome to the community, happy to have you when you're ready to jump in.
-
Yeah man, just have to ask them and press on them a little bit for answers instead of just being quiet and waiting. Now that we got results, maybe we can get more responses/questions? Round two, go.

Gamer Escape Interviews Yoshida (with RPers mentioned!)

I'd prefer the label, just so it's clear to newbies and existing players. Also: -
WIN by: Fernehalwes Greetings OskarHelvig! Thank you for your post and your interest in Eorzea's lore. As people who frequent the Localization forums already know, I'm a huge fan of in-game mythology, and always try to ninja as much flavor text into my translations as the lore team will let me. I've been given the OK to answer some of your questions, so I'll try my best to slake your thirst for knowledge (knowing that most of my responses will only just lead to new questions...and the never-ending cycle will continue). In general, how open-minded is the average Eorzean? (ex. Accept same-sex couples? Those who do not believe in the Twelve?) Answer: Though many of the races experienced rocky pasts, currently, tolerance is, for the most part, the norm in Eorzea. The main reason behind this being that the region is a veritable melting pot of races who have worked together throughout recent history to survive the hardships thrust upon them. This does not mean that there are do not exist groups which are significantly more closed-minded. For example, while Gridania and Limsa Lominsa are fairly open about having dealings with the some of the more amicable beast tribes (such as the sylphs, goblins, and Qiqirn), the sultanate of Ul'dah are wary of the tribes, in part due to their prolonged conflict with the Amalj'aa. The same can be said regarding religion. Each city-state has a patron (matron) deity, and most people in that city-state will follow the teachings of that god or goddess. There are, for the most part, however, no strict religious codes that must be followed. Some Eorzeans will choose to worship a deity connected to their profession (for example, weavers often follow Nymeia the Spinner). Some follow the deity associated with their nameday. There are even some Eorzeans who choose not to follow the teachings of the Twelve, but they are few and far between...and often will not admit it. The exception to this rule can be seen in Ishgard, where they take the teachings of Halone very seriously...to the point that the church and state have become inseparable. They go as far as calling those who do not follow the Fury 'unbelievers,' and those who are found to have communicated with the dragons of Dravania (the mortal enemies of Ishgard), are branded as heretics and in some cases executed. Can different races crossbreed? Answer: Yes, but it is rare...and often difficult due to cultural differences, etc. which is why you don't see it often. The lore team has informed me that there will be future quests/events that touch on this and other issues, such as love and marriage. How widespread is the worship of the Twelve? Answer: See the answer to question 1. As for geographical distribution, worship of the Twelve is, for the most part, limited to Eorzea. Is there a mythology about the Twelve that isnât mentioned in-game? (ex. Holy books, manuscripts, rituals, etc.) Answer: Yes, a great deal of mythology exists. Unfortunately, a lot remains unreleased. The storyline in 2.0 should reveal much more about the Twelve, but until then, I leave you with this Fun Fact: perhaps you have noticed, but in several of the dungeons in La Noscea you will find locations on your maps with names like "Llymlaen's Folly" or "Llymlaen's Trial." These are, in fact, sacred sites for the followers of the Navigator--each representing one of the 12 chapters in the tale of Llymlaen's Ascent. As part of their worship, followers risk their lives to perform yearly pilgrimages, visiting all twelve sites in the order they appear in the tale. The chapters (in order) are as follows: Llymlaen's Folly Llymlaen's Flight Llymlaen's Tempest Llymlaen's Clarity Llymlaen's Resolve Llymlaen's Bearing Llymlaen's Trial Llymlaen's Encounter Llymlaen's Stand Llymlaen's Triumph Llymlaen's Oath Llymlaen's Ascent Can you expand on the history and origins of races? Answer: The lore is there, but it contains far too much information to reveal here on a forum post. However, I 100% understand your desire to learn more about the backgrounds and cultures of the Five Races, and have personally pushed the lore team into looking into some way we cannot get more of that info into the game and up on the Lodestone. In the meantime, (if you haven't already) you can check out a few of the lore posts in the Localization forums, such as this one on Roegadyn names. Does Garlean technology have civic/public use outside of the military in Garlemald? Answer: Absolutely. Magitek is the foundation of their civilization and the main reason behind their quick rise to power. Though most of the technology is developed by and for the military, many of the inventions are reworked for civic/public use. Further information on the Garlean Empire will be released from version 2.0, as their presence in Eorzea will become ever more prevalent in the coming months. Charging an additional $3 per character slot is absolutely brutal to many role-players who enjoy playing the role of more than one character. Are there any plans to alleviate this additional fee at all with version 2.0 and beyond? Answer: I'm guessing that Bahyone will redirect you on this one. I hope that helps!

*needs a lot more love from the RP community* Let's make some noise guys the forums are active and players of all sorts (and moderators) are reading them post-patch. Good time to get some exposure. *Rally* DO WE WANT QUESTIONS ANSWERED OR DON'T WE!?

I know Theodate, but she has switched characters. I'll make sure to pass it along that she should re-register.

Posted: LINK Please reply/like so we get some eyes on it. Also feel free to expand on any of your questions there as well, or on any part of the 'intro' I've written.

Making links stand out more. And I wouldn't mind changing the boarders, just depends on the alternatives.

Still kicking it after three months! Check us out! Questions or comments, or just feel like reading what we've been up to? Look no further than The Pub, over here.

By Deirdre Taea Everwatch Monthly Update III (Nov/Dec) Greetings Everwatch, Deirdre here with this edition of the Monthly Update! Been a quiet month as to be expected, the holiday season has come upon us, and a lot of us are quite busy outside of the game! Regardless, this month has seen its ups and downs as if the Everwatch was on some kind of binge drinking bender. Okay, not funny, I suck at jokes, that's what Oskar is for. End of the jokes! On to the good stuff! This month has seen; Leve training, Zahar'ak taking, employment making, primal breaking, a lack of baking, procreating, affiliating, inebriating, battery breaking and crabs. Ran out of words, that's serious stuff. News First thing in the News is our new affiliation with dear old AETHER. These guys are well known scholars, gone quiet in the last little while. Gathering together at Lifemend, that crazy stump where the moogles like to hang out, we busted out food and drink, chatting up our new allies as Oskar forced Verence to sign his contract in blood (not really). There were those who were social, those not so much, and those who would have killed anyone who spoke to them. Syesta actually got to speak to people who knew what she was talking about! And who knew she could flirt either? Not me. Though many members were absent on both sides, most all had fun. We also finally planned a hunt for Dodore and his mysterious Doublet. This has been in the works for a while, sufficing to say we were full of zest when we rode out to Mor Dhona, ready for some action. Only to remain there for hours... no sight of miasma weather, or the beast alike. We enjoyed our field-trip to Mor Dhona anyways, seems we all forgot how pretty it was. Guaranteed we'll be back for revenge. WE BEAT IFRIT! Yes we did! Good work to all those involved, our hard work and dillegence paid off, finally. That primal beasty fell hard, and darn right we were dancing on his grave. Oskar ended up with the first primal weapon as well, the first of many. Members We've had a serious decline in members this month. Not surprising with all the releases out in the big wide world, and the lack of content in this one. Regardless, we still have a few new members and a few quite active ones, hopefully with the update in our near future, we will see the return of the people we love. Our list of occupations within Everwatch is current as of 12/11/11. That said I'd like to welcome our new members: Fen Fouroux Endinka Chanoix Hope you guys enjoy your time with Everwatch! Monthly Mentions Report of the month: Report of the month goes to~~~~~ Syesta Rajani! This CORE testing looks crazy, seems crazy... and actually is crazy! I hope it doesn't get one of us killed... Twelve forbid we have another funeral. The details and uniqueness in each of these test result reports is different than anything done before, +5 to creativity! Since my character would not be the type to participate in this kind of event (and I don't want to roll a D20 each time to see if she loses her baby) I get a lot of excitement in reading the results of the tests. Looks like everything went good this time, but there's more testing coming up, I wonder how everyone will fare! Journal of the month: The journal of the month this month goes to~~~~~ Oskar Helvig! He's the one whose been high half the month, saying crazy things and still managing to do his job, when he's not sleeping! Even still, no one's surprised there's a poet hiding inside, we all knew Oskar just had a hard time expressing himself! Parting Message Well, it's been a quiet month overall, hopefully we'll see some activity rising with the incentive of newly devised RP events, an update, and the end of the holiday season. Happy Holidays guys~! Please take more screenshots for the new year! Until then, have an Eva-hug.

Kusumura Mirokoshai - Bounty Hunter, now for hire!
Smiling River replied to Kusumura's topic in Welcome Desk
There is no simple statistic out there for you, like I said, it depends on the group. The RP population overall has dwindled so the times I see open RP is less than before, but that doesn't necessarily mean it all moved to /party. Basically from my experience, some groups are extroverted others are more introverted, with regards to communication channels. I personally don't mind /shouting IC'ly if my character is shouting... others would have OOC problems with that. -

A lot of people have graphics issues in the Black Shroud. It may work for you eventually, don't know how many times you tried. Maybe try opening ONLY ffxiv, lowering the graphics settings, etc.. Just get out of there as soon as you can! Other people who had similar issues got over it somehow. You can also delete this character and make a new one starting in another city. As for your other questions, it depends on the RPers. Some RP in /party while being in public where technically others would be able to overhear, others keep /party RP for private scenarios like to RP within a house or HQ, because we have no housing, and keep RP in public channels otherwise. The bigger RP stories and plots I assume vary in how accessible they are. A /tell asking about w/e the person is doing is prolly the best way to go about getting into something like that. -

Welcome to the RP community! -
So you /can/ make the changes, fair enough. I read it as otherwise, glad that at least that can be taken care of. I would suggest poking those who are good artists and know their way around photoshop personally, might be more effective. To be honest I haven't heard too many good things about the look/functions of these forums, so an overhaul would be welcome and may help erase some of the ugly past. Enjin is pretty solid and easy to use, while allowing for further customization if you know your stuff. I do agree that if you can implement those changes well, there is no need to move and lose all that info.

Is there a Dev tag for this stuff? Going to put this up on the official boards by Saturday.

Returning beta/launch player looking for a fresh start...

No cap, and hello - welcome back. -
I agree that one can customize these forums to a larger degree, but it seems we lack the skill to do many of the things you've listed for that reason. The novelty of having top-grade forums/website is nice, but it comes down to how much can be done, how much can we actually use. If it's stopping you or other people who might be willing to help but do not know how - that's a problem. One solution is to move to a simpler forum/website, the other is to get someone who is fluent in website speak, to make the site work and look better.
-
I've noticed that every time I copy/paste something from enjin, I have to reformat it for this forum. That in itself is a small problem, but it does make it a pain to simply copy/paste something quickly. That small issue is echoed in your post, with the lack of coding experience and so on. Is it possible to switch hosts to something a bit more user friendly? In the re-branding effort (if you care to take it that far) it would also serve as a big milestone. Would be a good reason to contact both the non-RP and the past members of the RP community, to notify them of the website change. As a sidenote, unless there are bandwidth issues I suggest just taking most of the old threads and locking them in one forum, perhaps making it invisible. This is so that if info is requested, it is out there.

Staying on because I am invested in the RP, the LS, and the people!
