1. We have a few relationship threads, going from in-game screen shots to .gifs. But music can be a real tone-setter for a relationship too! So here, post songs that seem to embody certain phases in a relationship, or a certain relationships as a whole. Kyrio x Rasha Nayuun: Always remember the past. ws8X31TTB5E Kyrio x Mio Den'ravi: There are lines they shant cross, but they love dancing around it. mgMSoI8J0YA Kyrio x Restless Wind: Gotta knock through that philosopher shell! JT6u0bE6vTw Kyrio x H'malosi Dihne: She promises to take his leatherworking skills and make him famous. While his light flirting isn't returned very well, there's still... P5Xo75bh7no
2. D'eshel: Sure. Kyrio needs adventuring partners and a reason to get out! And OOCly, I still have to run the end story quests, surrounding Operation Archon. Being able to build a RP group to be able to do it and RP it as some other kind of anti-Garlean operation would be fabulous. Yhisa: Absolutely. What's interesting about Ul'Dah is that it has BOTH sides of the coin in the city. Check out the Pearl Lane near the market on the eastern side of the city, as well as walk around the wall on the outside. Both places, what you'll see will flat-out depress you with the beggars, homeless, shacks, tents, and lean-tos. It's a good environment for the more.. down-on-your-luck, orphan, or refugee personal back-stories to pop up.
3. I'm sorry. The middle part of the Madly section. just got me.. RIGHT.. IN.. THE.. FEELS.
4. I'm not going to try to sound snotty or something but.. I'm shy IRL. Playing something other than an awkward, withdrawn guy is a little difficult for me. And while for some people, that works. Especially for those playing 'white knight' sort of characters that may like coming in for the rescue. But being pressed to the corner of the Quicksand, and running scared when someone got drunk and belligerent weren't exactly endearing qualities. I knew that, when I came back and wanted to keep Kyrio's character intact yet try to appeal to a great audience, I had to change his character. Make him friendlier. More outgoing. Some people have had the joy of having Kyrio, instead of just sitting back and observing, to JUMP into conversations. Rudely butt in as soon as he found something he could relate to and just include himself into conversations. Otherwise, I was likely signing Kyrio away to a life of mediocrity. He had to make the decision that in order to be happy, he had to wear his heart on his sleeve a little and be a little daring to get someone to look at him (senpai~). When it comes to growth, you have to step out of your bubble a little bit.
5. Kyrio knows Mio! So your network is already expanded with me. /straightface
6. Kyrio against a bright, starry night! Cape Westwind is awfully quiet.
7. I'm alwys, always, always looking for new people to RP with. So whenever you see Kyrio Lamansque around (though he's usually around the Quicksand, since it seems to be the most reliable place to find RP), always be welcome to poke me. Even if I'm running mindlessly about, a poke or a whisper will pull me IC in an instant!
8. So it's not like I've actually posted the fact that Kyrio has returned from the deep dark recesses of a hiatus umpteen billion times already, but since it's been over a year since Kyrio has been played the vast majority of his old connections seem long gone. Now, I've mostly been putting Kyrio into Ul'dah in the dun of the adventurer's guild there and he's met a few people, but I do want to RP in more places than Ul'dah, and have him meet people who don't normally go there! So, to give a few specifics because broad, sweeping requests are difficult to deal with: Kyrio is a Miqo'te male (Yes, another one). A Keeper, with dark red hair and ocean-blue eyes. He's a street-rat turned monk, ran around with Tirra Lirra, Endemerrin, Kesai, and others during his hay day. He was shy and untrusting, but once the trust was given, he was loyal to the end. Now he's back with a change to his personality, being much more friendly than when he disappeared. PLOT: One of two possibilities. Or both, of course. One is he is a little too quick to trust with his newfound nature change and attempt to rebuild a friend-base and finds himself walking a moral line with the new friends. Two is that the friends he makes are generally good, but Perhaps too heroic and adventurous. He may be a fighter at heart, but I never played him with the ability to resist the Tempering. So as the heroic band sights higher acclaim and rewards, Kyrio finds himself in over his head. Of course, I'm open to other things too for discussion! FRIENDS:Yes, please. The more the better. He's met and gotten along with several so far, but he's yet to find that slot where he can really fit in with any group. ROMANCE?: I won't lie. All my guys I hope to find that special girl for him but I also realize that a large amount of the population appears to either not be interested or already involved. Kyrio had a lover who left the game shortly before I did, with the direction that she got pulled into a tear leading to the Void - Since she hunted void creatures anyway - so while he's hurting beneath his cheery expression, he longs to have the empty part of his heart filled again. And a reference pic! Fresh taken last night!
9. https://wiki.ffxiv-roleplayers.com/pages/Kyrio_Lamansque I've made a small update to Kyrio's wiki, mostly adding rumors based around how Kyrio has been in the few days since my return. I'm always up for random RP, so come and poke me if you see me around!
10. Kyrio totally had a thing for A'tirramei (Tirra Lirra) but since she had someone and he's a decent guy, he'd never act on it.
11. I know this game has its own set of problems. But after trying to help run a RP guild in ArcheAge.. Mah Gawd, this game is a RPers paradise in contrast. Head tracking, different idle stances, an emote system as long with at least twice as many (of not three). Mah GAWD! Just being back in it made me wiggle with happiness. Maybe i should PuG a few times to take the excitement out of it and bring back my loathing.
12. I exited and restarted twice. Original was a queue of one. First restart was a queue of 1. Now I got a queue of 229! Progress? I'm not sure.
13. Hello everyone! I was known as Kyrio Lamansque in Balmung and Dallas Bell in Gilgamesh. I took my hiatus when the housing districts were getting started. I'm pondering making a return to the game and was curious about the general state of RP. After all, good immersion helps a nerd like me. So, how are the servers in terms of RP now? Is there still a lot of public RP going on, or has a lot of it gone to the housing areas? Have a lot of groups kinda become insular, or do a lot of people play with each other regardless of FC affiliation?d
14. This is a pretty unique FC. And I really enjoy how it strives to have high quality of members. At least one interview, and a trial period so both member and officer can see if the FC is a good fit before giving the new member a chance to walk away with no hard feelings.
15. plus another six hours when they reopen and found out half the things are broken.
16. Welcome! Kyrio is always looking for new friends to make in Balmung, so hopefully we'll be bumping into eachother at some point.
17. For me, I tend to play a character that is affected by the story but doesn't take part in it. Kyrio is a homeless street-rat of a character (The Pearl Lane is a serious slum). He's not a hero. Merri is taking him on as a pupil to be a monk, not some NPC. He's running around and helping people and performing things for the security of the people because it's the right thing to do, not because he has to as demanded by the story and side quests. Even when he's running dungeons, he's simply going on an adventure - not putting down a giant acid-spitting dragon for the purposes of obtaining stinky cheese. And Primal fights are purely occ because he doesn't have an echo. So in the end, I wind up with a lore-friendly character who is able to interact in the world and with the world without bending the cords of the story.
18. Concerning the double-letter line and their demise. A story I was playing with a character named Ku'sar (Tribe name was Ya'shir, but that is a different story altogether) on Gilgamesh.. since the sept CAN be rather small, its easy for something like a roving band of X monster to take out the tribe. Or an encounter with a beastman raiding party would do the same. So while yes, a low male birthrate can kill a double-letter line, but there's a lot other things that can bring it down as well. And if there are two or three survivors after said band of Aman'jaa runs roughshod over the Ya sept, Well, that's where we have intriguing story to play out.
19. I've already written one song for Ku'sar to make his debut as a bard - though as far as the game is concerned, he's not a bard unless I can rush out 10 levels between now and then.
20. Ku'sar will probably be a merrymaker. He's a wanna-be bard so he's in the act of writing a song, and he'll probably be milling about.
21. ((Aah, it's been so long! I'm sorry Kyrio hasn't been on since beta. I ended up getting involved in things in Gilgamesh and have been pretty locked in over there. Though seeing your colorful journals, well written and all. Man, it kinda makes me jealous!))
22. I'm going to be the weird Gilgamesh guy here throwing in a few gil in the conversation but.. I've found it very difficult to play nobles in MMO RP. One of the things that makes a noble a noble is the kind of.. weight and power and respect that comes along with the rank. And if someone decides not to give them that respect and pay a mind to the power, the noble usually has a way to bring that person into line. And it's REALLY hard to get the random RPer to be like 'Oh, okay' and adjust to the fact that the character is a noble. Most of the time, at least in my experience, the response is more like 'Pff, well, my character doesn't care/doesn't recognize the authority' or what have you.
23. (This is esssentially the same as what I have on the other board. I know. But I know some people don't check boards they aren't involved with. So for the sake of being complete on both servers..) I. Basic Info Characters:Philandre Melyo, Kyrio Lemansque Primary character:Kyrio Lamansque Linkshells:None, yet. Actively seeking Primary RP linkshell:See above II. RP Style Amount of RP (light, medium, heavy): Heavy whenever its possible. I have absolutely no problem RPing my weekends away and not getting one xp point. I also try to become at least basically aquainted with the lore and follow it whenever I can. Views on RP combat and injuries: Give a hit, take a hit. I don't actively seek out combat, but in the event that it happens, I have no problem with my character coming out of it battered and bloody. I generally hope that my RP partner on the other side feels the same. Views on IC romance: For my characters, One of the things I hope for them is to find that special someone. What happens through the course of the relationship, both publically and behind closed doors, is a way for character evolution to happen - my characters are dynamic and romantic relationships is one of the ways for views and attitudes to change and for hidden characteristics to come to the forefront. Views on non-romantic RP (family ties, etc): Absolutely. We don't exist on islands by ourselves, floating by with chance encounters. We have family and friends from before we found ourselves as adventurers. Though when it comes to this, I want to be able to trust my RP partners, and have things pretty well parsed out so we don't have any gaping plot holes and whatnot. Views on lore: Needed and necessary. Its what binds us all together in the setting. Deliberatly stomping on the feet of lore more or less brings the character in from another universe, which is not cool. Views on chat functions (/say, /linkshell, etc): I'll do it all. Public RP, linkshell, tells. RP is RP and I wants it, my precious. III. Other Info Country:USA Timezone:Central Contact info:Darkvein81 in AIM, Ritsuka81 in Skype. I don't voice chat much though. [glow=blue]~Special announcements can be found in the posts below~[/glow]
24. (I wrote a small opinion piece over in the Lodestone, so I thought I'd copy it over here. I was kinda proud of it.) In two days' time. You know what happens? This gets WORSE. That's right. This is just everyone who pre-ordered and are trying to take advantage of the perks that SE offered. This is just me. But I know of two people who are waiting for Tuesday to start playing. I know there are probably hundreds, if not thousands, who are doing the same thing. So if you think this is bad, I think Tuesday will be twice as bad. But you know what? I don't care. Yeah, it's frustrating. I won't doubt anyone, and I don't take it away from anyone that they're frustrated. We've been looking forward to ARR since they said XIV was coming down and being completely rebuilt. But the community that perseveres. The community that sees through it, seeking the little pockets of sunshine that is able to filter through all this turmoil and grief, that's the kind of community that I want to be a part of. So I'm not trying to invalidate your arguments. I'm not going to call you a child. I'm not going to tell you to go to the Hater's Closet. I'll just smile at you, and I'll go hang out with the cool people in this game.
