  1. Of course you can! Just ask Rinh Hallani or Taeh Marchand for an invite come launch (or early access if you have it).
  2. Heh, some funny names there. Only one I can remember now is an arcanist called Ace Rimmer (from Red Dwarf). I was sorely tempted to whisper him and say "What a guy!" As for trolling, yes, it happens everywhere. I've always chosen RP realms in WoW and, although you may get interrupted from time to time, non-RPers usually leave you alone. On the odd occasions someone does bother me, I ignore them and perhaps go afk for a few minutes. They quickly lose interest if you don't respond. Worst case is I move the RP elsewhere and set the troll on ignore.
  3. Lolth tlu malla! Vendui'.
  4. Balmung still not accepting new characters. Beta extended til 8 am PDT (4 pm BST) but not much point in my playing if I still can't create on Balmung. Sigh.
  5. I'm still waiting to be able to log in with my main on Balmung but I made a roegadyn marauder on Siren in the meantime. In my clearly biased opinion, Burning Ash looks pretty fierce.
  6. Alright, I see. I think I'll experiment with more detailed emotes but not get stressed out if I can't manage it 100% of the time. Thanks very much to you both!
  7. Reading the responses here, I've got a question of my own. I'm used to rather fast paced RP. If I spend time typing a long emote, it will often be superseded by someone else's actions or not even noticed at all in the flurry of speech scrolling past. My emotes therefore tend to be less detailed and to the point, instead using dialogue to bring life to my characters. However, this doesn't seem to be the case with many people here on the RPC. Should I try to use more detailed emotes in this game? I'm rather out of practise to be honest after years of keeping them short and sweet but I don't want anyone to write me off as "less of an RPer" because I don't do lengthy emotes. Not that I think most people from the RPC will do that of course, as you all seem quite friendly and open, but it's an attitude I've come across from some RPers in other games before.
  8. I still can't create on Balmung, or Gilgamesh for that matter. I'm getting a bit frustrated because if we're allowed to keep these characters to launch, well, I want to create the character on the server I actually intend to play on in launch. Fingers crossed it opens back up soon I guess...
  9. I'm going to roll an alt on Moogle and wait til tomorrow to reroll my main. We have an EU linkshell as well as an endgame FC on Balmung so don't fear you won't find fellow EU players there!
  10. I have a general tumblr that is mostly about games/TV/books/films and I'm posting FFXIV stuff there.
  11. I'm rerolling my character (perfectionism, pfah) but can't get into Balmung so ask Taeh Marchand for invites.
  12. My game is sorted out now so please hit myself or Taeh up for an invite if you're on this weekend.
  13. Ok I've updated your name and mine now. I'm having trouble with the game at the mo so I've proposed to Taeh to create the linkshell. I will try to sort out my game tomorrow and start throwing out invites!
  14. I'll be online at the weekend so I can sort it out. I've updated your character name and will update mine on Friday.
  15. I love this! I always put a scent descriptor in my WoW character descriptions. I'd say my Keeper smells like orchids with a hint of burnt wood.
  16. In all my years in MMOs, I've only ever come across one player who RPed so exclusively that they didn't know how to play their class. It irritates me when that stereotype is thrown around because I've found it to be extremely rare. Personally, I wouldn't RP in a game that I didn't also enjoy playing, and playing well, in its own right. Helping non-RPers learn to RP sounds like a great idea; I'm just unsure whether an outright trade would work. If you want to improve how you play, I'd echo what Yeldir has said and read, watch videos, etc. That's how I learned to play my classes in WoW.
  17. Ooh thanks for that! I'm still not sure what to call my Keeper so will have a look when it's time to create her.
  18. Beautiful, thanks for sharing!
  19. Reading the beta forums. Waiting for phase 4.
  20. I'd be interested in this too. I won't exactly be rushing to endgame but once I get there, definitely.
  21. I'm shocked and quite frankly disgusted that magic, cat-people and so on can exist in this game but non-hetero marriage is apparently too much. I've read the "Japanese culture can't handle it" excuse many times in this thread and, in my opinion, it doesn't fly. I wouldn't accept that for racism so why should I accept it for homophobia? I'm writing SE to explain exactly how I feel on this subject; probably will be ignored but it's all I can do. My ideal resolution? Either allow marriage to be free of restrictions or don't implement it at all.
  22. I'm a new player and going to Balmung. /shrug
