1. Hello Mirmiru! Glad to see another Lalafell make their way on to Balmung . Nice list of games you've played...what server on FFXI did you come from? Welcome to the community, hope to see you in game  !
2. Hello Strife! Looks like we started out our MMO history in the same game Yini Kihn already linked you to our very helpful Linkshell Hall, so I hope you find a home that's right for you . Welcome to the community, hope to meet you in game  !
3. Hello Crossarchus! I suffer alt-ism as well, and I have to say, I have so far found that FFXIV makes it really hard to do so here. Not so much because right now you can't actually make as many characters you want or potentially pay for on a given server ( :dodgy: ), but rather they make it so convenient for a single character to do so many things . Having said that, I do enjoy having different looks and different personalities to play with, so as soon as they allow 8 characters on the server, I'm sure to be there . Welcome to the community, hope to run into you in game  !
4. Hello Hannah Belle! What a nice name...is that your character's name as well ? It is true that, at least in the case of our Free Company, we've had to postpone our planned role play events, simply because of the log in issues. I think that many organizations are probably extending the courtesy of waiting until the issues are resolved so that people aren't left out. Do you have a character concept in mind? Have you role played in an MMO before? Sorry for the questions...but I'm not a Miqo'te, so curiosity won't kill me Welcome to the community...hope to meet you in game
5. Welcome jelrae! We have many members that play on Balmung from the EU, so hopefully one of them can come along and tell you how things are faring (beyond what Tirra Lirra mentioned ) Perhaps playing on a NA server will put you outside of "prime time", when it will be easier to gain access into the game itself...which is still currently quite the issue. Good luck though, hope you make it in somewhere
6. These intros are always great fun ! And who wouldn't be inspired by Tralalatoo's work Welcome to the community...hope to meet you in-game  !
7. Unfortunately, due to log in issues for a good number of our membership, this event has been postponed one week, to Monday, September 2nd . Hopefully, the server and access issues will be resolved by then, and consistent access will be available for all who want to participate.
8. Hehe, don't be too hard on him...it IS posted in the Balmung Events sub-forum after all
9. Tralala Trala, Administrator of School and Student Services for the Vylbrand Academy, will be accepting in-character hand delivered student placement questionnaires from potential cadets desiring to attend the upcoming school year at the Academy of Mystics, Tactics, and Trade. This is a role play activity for our members, who are beginning their IC entrance into the Unsung Heroes' RP experience throughout next week, and will take place on Monday, Aug 26th, kicking off at 4pm PST. Those of you who are not yet members of the Unsung Heroes, but are interested in joining our Free Company are more than welcome to fill out the form (found in the spoiler below), and submitting it to me via PM prior to the start of the event. (This is not the actual OOC application, so those who would like to become a part of our FC are encouraged to also apply through normal channels in addition to the IC form). The location of the Vylbrand Academy front office is shown on the map below: Please PM me with any questions you might have regarding this role play event. We are definitely still recruiting, so if you are interested in joining the Unsung Heroes, this will be a great way to introduce yourself in character! We may not be able to use the duty finder, but RP rarely causes crashes  ! Obviously, this is all dependent on server status and other circumstances far beyond our control. If the schedule required changing due to server maintenance or Tralala being swallowed up by the 90000 error, I will update this message
10. Good sturdy Lalafell name...I heartily approve  ! Welcome !

Hellooo~

Hello, RedDLai ! Oh, look, Alexis...another fan of Japanese music! Shall we share with everyone the dance of your people (inside joke pon pon wei wei wei )? You look like you already have a great concept for your character...did you do the drawing of your Miqo'te in your wiki :surprise: ? Welcome to the community, hope to run into you in-game
22. People know their own personal back story usually (barring amnesiacs...all too common in character concepts, but rather unusual in real life )...does that make most people you run into outside of the game boring and limited, without room to grow because of their knowledge of their own personal past? Does that make you yourself that type of real-life interaction? Are the interesting people who write autobiographies in real life any less intriguing or desirous to be dialogued with as a result? Well, maybe if it's poorly written, perhaps . I think if it helps you cement your story and concept in your head, certainly, write as much as you want! You could write a thousand pages and probably not match the details that you know about you yourself, and I imagine you probably think you are still someone worth knowing and interacting with in real life You probably expect to have new experiences to build upon your own back story, and will continue to live and grow and learn and meet new people and experience new things just as your characters are at the moment they log in for the first time upon Eorzea . Now, putting all that information out there for general consumption is something entirely different. Having made my original comments, I do believe in exposition through role play is a really important thing. I'd sure like to learn about you through through interacting with your character, to be surprised and delighted in discovering new aspects of your personality, feel your pain as you relate a troubling past event. I can get that too from reading about your character, but it's a little bit of a different thing. If I am to write something about my character (and I have written a bit about my Duskwight, Isobeau), I might tell a little tale that displays an event that shaped her personality, or maybe something that was a pivotal moment in her life. I am concerned that this might let out more than I want before I show my hand in game, so to speak, but at the same time, I like to think that I'm a creative person and I enjoy writing and telling tales, and I have to scratch that itch as well
