I am also an alternate contact for anyone with questions regarding the Unsung Heroes role play Linkshell and end-game Free Company. Any of you who are looking for an Academic/Institution of Higher Learning-type environment for their role play, please give us a look  !

Welcome Chocolina! There's lots of useful stuff to be found here to help round out a character concept. Can't wait to see how it turns out  !

Great, Eve...I'm really looking forward to running into each and every one of you in game !

How often do we see almost this very thing happen in people's backstory just to get around naming convention  ? And just like we're supposed to respect people deciding their Roegadyn was brought up by Lalafell to account for the variation from a lore-supported naming convention and whatnot, I fail to see why one couldn't respect someone's choice to use this item, an item that is an official item, in context. Doesn't matter how rare one thinks it should be...I'm sure its maybe more common to come upon a bottle of that than for someone of a certain race to be brought up by a different race's parents, and can easily be explained away in a similar manner Yet we swallow that whole thing quite readily when people use it in their character concept without any great support from lore that orphans are often raised by non-racial parents and such (or am I incorrect on multiple examples of this happening lore wise :? Any examples?). Wouldn't ever use it myself, but I don't understand the automatic poo-pooing of the use by someone of an in-game item to advance that someone's role play. Eva's last part of her last line is what I would go with myself

Cute avatar  Welcome!

When I'm at a loss for things to say, I usually fall back on "kwerk" myself  Welcome aboard  !

How do you find it playing on a JP server, Syjak? I had quite a number of opportunities to party with Japanese players in FFXI. I wonder if they have a role play community as well :? ? Anyways, thanks for the introduction. Won't see you in game, but I'll look forward to your contributions here

((Take a look at that map, because knowing which gate Ul'dah was left through would help my narrative, but to take a chocobo, it most likely be the Gates of Nald ))

(Amazing imagery...I felt as if I were there. Great job  !)

We've had a lot of fun with the thread, and I think many of us have come away with a much better understanding of what it means to be a Duskwight, and how this will be reflected in our role play . I look forward to seeing what you come up with...and as you can see if you made it this far on the thread, if you have any questions, or want to bounce a concept off the others, etc, feel free to ask  !

Isobeau observed the Hyur shoot furtive glances over his shoulder at the trailing Duskwights. She could see the wheels of thought racing behind suspicious eyes, just as the wheels of fate were turning for them all. As she had been conducting various business tasks within the Ul'dah marketplace, Isobeau did not carry her primary weapon of choice; the lance. She did carry a pair of knuckles of her own making on her hips, however, and though she wasn't as adept at wielding these weapons, she could hold her own in a brawl if needed. Whether they would be necessary here remained to be seen. "It looks like big boy here is getting a bit antsy, friend" she said quietly to the adjacent Elezen. "I don't much care to spin the wheel myself, but I do so enjoy to watch the effects. What would you have us do? Turn tail and forget what we saw tonight, or turn the tide on behalf of this Miqo'te." Without a word, the Duskwight male turned down a side alley and quickly ran out of sight. "Well, that was unexpected" Isobeau said with a shrug and raised brow. His action suggested either option, or neither. Dropping her crossed arms down to her belt, she continued to follow the dark forms before her, though in a quite more precarious position.

Isobeau nodded slightly at the white-haired Duskwight matching her pace behind the shuffling Hyur and the mewling Miqo'te. It was common for her kind to form instant bonds when faced with collective adversity. Experience taught the shadowy Elezen that there were very few upon Eorza they could safely rely upon 'cept themselves. "Far be it for me to play the vigilante, but if this one gets anywhere near the authorities, the story quickly becomes we were the ones that bloodied his date, and you know as well as I who they will believe, and what happens next." She turned to look directly at her new companion, locking his gaze with a single amber eye. "This is where Nymeia's wheel is set to spin the critical thread in the night's tapestry. Our fates are either soon to be entangled with that of the Miqo'te's, or they are not." The two dusky Elezen continued to follow in silence for a few moments. "Its almost too delicious a moment to interrupt. I do love to watch the Fickle Goddess weave her wares." Isobeau whispered through an almost rapturous half-smile.

Welcome Chance! Yea, the key words are "tend to" and "often", when it comes to the Highlander's violent-sounding names. Since its not "always"...Vinders sure seems fine by me

Who had a lot of fun with Tera roleplay? This Elin  ! Welcome aboard!

Isobeau shoved herself off the wall in a casual saunter, as the Hyur carrying the wounded Miqo'te wasn't necessarily making good time down the alleyway, but the Duskwight did not care to overtake the two...yet. "Are you claiming some right of salvage over this one?" the Elezen said, motioning towards the cradled cat-girl. "Because I don't really think she was yours to begin with." Her sensitive hearing began to scan the area for any further sounds of pursuit echoing down the pathway. That Hyur had not been the one to wound the Mi'qote, Isobeau was fairly sure, and she wanted to ensure the ones who did weren't about to storm onto the scene, before letting Nymeia spin her wheel any further.

Aw, that's too bad, because I thought we were doing pretty good at just having a discussion of the lore, and not so much creating lore itself . I guess maybe the interpretations of areas that could be played with in our character back stories due to explicit lack of official lore is where the trouble might fall, but the the pen of a developer would truly be mightier than any sword for a good many background concepts, should they merely write a line or two that conflicts with something someone wrote up in their background. Not just for Duskwights, but for all the various refugees and deserters and tribe forsakers and any of the other back stories that are depending on a lack of lore for support (quite the opposite of depending on detailed lore for support, which is kinda what we want as well...one way or the other, works for me ) I know I'd go back to the drawing board if SE said Duskwights weren't allowed to settle near Ul'dah, or for whatever reason, the crafting skills PCs have wouldn't expand to having Duskwight craftsmen within their society or the ability to trade with outside civilization (even then, in the short background story I wrote, I recognize Duskwight tradesmen probably would face some negotiations issues due to poor relations with others) ...hope I don't have to face that. Or, hope I get enough hard lore that I can modify my backstory if it goes against what is official

Is it you on all the instruments? I have not the foggiest notion on how those things work  For some reason, some of the parts give off a 70's rock tone to me...very interesting

There are a lot of artists sharing their work here on these forums...hope to see some of yours some time Welcome aboard

Actually, I think its always been about taking a look at what is in the official lore, and basing our choices and concepts on what would be possible within it . That's why we pretty much posted everything written on Duskwights right from the outset, to get it all out in the open, and then most worked from there. Is there something of a particular concern you've seen, Kari? Some trend or aspect of the conversation you're uncomfortable with? Besides our own families, which I think pretty much every character of any race has a reasonable expectation of control over, what are the "player lore" points you've seen :? ?

Hello Ari! Hope to run into you somewhere in Balmung

The Weaver's work was on display across the way from where Isobeau stood in the shadows. Fate would take this Miqo'te's life, or fate would not, but whether or not the Duskwight's own life thread would become interwoven with this one's depended on what happened in the next few moments. Isobeau continued to look down the darkened avenues, watching and waiting for those who might be pursuing their lost prey, or tracking their botched execution.
