  1. The Good (positives) [*] Character Creation is fun to play with. [*] Soloing can be done and it is fun! [*] Crafting is highly enjoyable. [*] The World is Beautiful and can spend hours in one area, come back and find something new. [*] Conjurer is fun to blow monsters up with (and the easiest to solo on) [*] The fact you can Teleport around without the need of white mage. [*] The Story by what I have seen, is awesome. [*] Able to play the game how you want too and not get yelled that your doing it wrong. [*] Great Customization on Armor, skills, and stats. [*] Easy to play on the Keyboard <3 [*] Different Payment options. [*] RP! [*] The Lodestone is also great fun to write in and read other posts.[/list:u] The Bad (negatives) [*] Slowly killing my graphics card and forcing me to buy a cooling pad. [*] Lack of character limit in chat box. [*] Have to pay $3 for each new character. [*] Not enough emotes (I am an emote hog). [*] F11 isn't so intelligent on targeting mobs/NPCs. [*] Rain going through tents. [*] No Housing! [*] Getting To Your Account can be a hassle. [*] 10,000 Crysta Limit is annoying. [*] People asking for way to much in the wards.[/list:u] The Not-So-Ugly (thoughts, hopes, neutrality, etc.) [*] Maybe they will increase Character Limit for writing. [*] Maybe They will add housing. [*] Future Updates that will help improve the game. [*] Maybe they will Raise the Crysta Limit. [*] Maybe a Male Miqo'te? >.>[/list:u]
  2. Well maybe if we are lucky that will be part of the update. I always plan to stay hopeful, but if not well--- we have 900+ members, I am sure if we all decided to send a massive feedback yell they probably start to get the general idea. However, I am glad to see they are looking and watching what people have to say. That is always important to know that the Devs are listening to their playerbase and are working on it. I just feel bad that so many people are giving a FF14 a bad rep on its first legs out, since you know-- MMOS are never that great when they first release.
  3. I RP In Gridania, though my hours are bouncy and I have 3(4?) characters I jump around on. However if you ever see a Vaelyn Nykah on, feel free to bother me. --------- Sadly for me and hotspots, I have names turned off, so I just have to go by anything that may happen in the text box, then if I can't locate the person by tabbing around, I'll turn names back on to see if I can find the elusive white text name.. and once I do, I tab em, then do a quick /names, and then see if I can join in.
  4. I level by guildleves as well. Sometimes a bit of monster hunting, and sometimes I get physical levels from doing crafting. I also have 4 characters which I bounce around on (mostly 2, but sometimes all 4) and each one do different things and are stated different ways, so no character acts the same. Lucky indeed. At the moment I have been reduced to rotating my alts so I have some way to progress when my guildleves are on cooldown on one character. At this rate I'll have a fully fleshed out character, skill wise, in oh.. a year.. maybe more? *Scratches head* How bad was the leveling in Aion/FFXI again? I thought SE said they wanted to move away from that. FFXI was easy to hit lvl 10, and then it got harder and harder and more time consuming, and if you died you lose more and more exp as you went up higher and higher. It was heavily time consuming, as far has I was concerned and I like taking stuff casual due to my RL situation.
  5. From notice on another thread in the Game Room, Besaid is back up. If you want in, now be the best time, unless you plan to wait another week.
  6. To those who have troubling getting on Besaid, the best thing you can do is wait. The server is removed at a point when it feels it is to congested and hits that number, this apparently can even happen on servers with low chocobos as well. It a silly system that SE has placed in to try and protect their servers from crashing (though it seems ton of worlds do). Good News is, I've only seen Besaid crash once, bad news is, I know from my friend trying to get in, it was down. So be patient, play with the character creator for a bit and stick your nose every hour or two and see if it pops up. If it doesn't, try back the next day. Also some word of advice, try early in the morning or really late in the evening. Pick times you think it would not be busy on the game. Yes its a world wide game, but there are always those wonderful slow times where the numbers drop greatly. I also expect after 30 days are up, we will see a change in numbers, as I expect most of the people who are on right now will leave. FF14 is not for everyone, the billing system drives me many nuts, and most people are content with games that let them grind 24/7. I don't see FF14 as a grind 24/7, but maybe that is me.
  7. Vaelyn I know is in Gri, and I know that most woodlands see the Duskwights as dirty, backstabbers, since one of them tells you to "watch your back when you around them." But its your typical stuff. Where you stick them in the room, and they will probably half heartily get along, but they also wont get to close either. Don't probably expect them to give one another a brotherly hug anytime soon. Though I imagine a few, like ourselves, break this majority mold. Vaelyn however as a Duskwight, due to his job as a Merc, tends to get along with everyone. He doesn't like how his own people act really and how they are seen by the majority. So, he tends to go out of his way to put on a welcoming smile and open arms. Which sometimes makes him to friendly. I think honestly go whatever feels and seems right for you and your character.
  8. Yeah... I don't know why people do stuff like this, of coarse I don't really party, but I have sometimes gone by someone and cast a cure on them when they ain't in great shape, but that is common curtsy, but to stand around and spam cure and what not? I can see how that be a bit of a problem. Guess its a good thing Conjurers do more then just heal, eh?
  9. Now, now, don't call it that. Any FFXI player worth their weight in experience knows that is a "subligar". And we love our subligars. I didn't. >.> Then again, it was because I could never understand how such little armor could give you such /good/ armor. (Ok, so I /do/ like the top pieces, even more so on guys, just hate the bottom.)
  10. As many of you know as your crafting, that glowing orb you see means something, but for myself. It took me forever to come and understand it, till today while I was on Felix. I don't know why this clicked, I think it was sudden curious notion to want to know why it sometimes worked and sometime didn't. I use to think it was random, not anymore~ This was done, mind you, under alchemy. I am not sure if this is true for all crafting, but I'll test this out on Vaelyn later. This is how it seems to work 95% of the time. White = Standard Multicolors = Quick Yellow = Bold Red = Wait Test this on your crafting and let me know if this holds water for ya'll as well. As I said, this was under a few tests and this is how it worked out on Felix. I am curious to know if this is the case for all of you as well.
  11. You guys are /so/ lucky that ya'll got maps and Tumblars. I rather have had those 2 things then the adventurer paper thingie. ; Ah well, maybe SE will be nice and put those up for sell later (or I'll have to stock ebay).
  12. The bottom part is correct, as Tanka(sp) did put up Twitter he was going to do this. I think the 'RMT's shot themselves in the foot back in the days of FFXI when they opened up the 14 day trial part of the game (cause there was no shouts/tell till then. I know this, why? Cause I was around that freakin' long! Now get off my lawn!) and then the sudden mass of them invading Open Beta. I mean-- Its Open Beta! Stuff is going to get wiped, wth?! But yeah, so I think that final act like set a nuke on them, cause not shortly after was Tanka's comment on Twitter.
  13. Yeah I know. It is sort of awesome to me and yet, kinda creepy-- Like chewy on that Squirrel taking out Nazis!
  14. I am excited about all this really, expect for the PVP thing. I am not fond of PVP and never have been. However so long as the PVP stays in mini-game events like Bastilla, and they make it into fun tournament matches where it can be done by choice-- not by force.. I will be a very happy camper. Though I have to shake my fist the fact they are making more hairstyles.
  15. So, the opening movie is up on the FF14's website. I was watching it and I heard the Elezen talk and I was like, "..I know your voice, but why?" Now, someone tell me I am wrong-- But is that freakin' Jeremy Irons (also the voice of Scar in Lion King)'s voice? Cause to me.. it sounded like it!
  16. I am also using the Keyboard so I can't say to much and the only game I ever used a controller on was CO (back in the day when there was RP there). And the fastest way to target I believe is either f11 or f12.. But I am pretty sure it is F11. But after reading what you said up top, I am once again convinced that nothing will ever beat a Keyboard when it comes down to the nit and grit of it. That is my two cents, and sorry if it is seen as interruption.
  17. Yeah, I ordered the CE for the journal and the nice little trinkets, but not a fan of that helment (which is why I was going to give it to my mom). However it is nice to know that information about 'before', so when I do get the goggles I can create Koti with them. That just means that my boys get made before the female does. Though I don't play that often, it probably wont make that big of a difference(curse you art, curse you comic, and curse you MUSH)
  18. Everyone, to the feedback forums on FF14's beta site! We have enough people here to bark at them about it there. (with what? 500-600 people?) Edit: So I went there and gave them a nice list of feedback in their UI section, along with this! I always try to give them a list of things, that way it never seems I am nit-picking on something.
  19. I didn't think control + r worked at the moment. What everyone else said. That is why I said above space + ctrl+r Space is very important for all the commands mostly.. expect for Ctrl+t, and ctrl+p.. I don't think.. then again, I do this stuff without thinking I typically don't pay attention to what my hands are doing anymore. o_o Yay for repetition training!
  20. I must admit, the typing limit does annoy me as well, but I am pretty quick to adapt to any given circumstance, and since I now know that space + ctrl+r = Reply, I can live a bit easier with it. I do wish they increase it, and maybe they will, if enough people complain about it on the general forms of the beta site. After all, during closed beta we talked about how cool it be to do /emotes and sit in a chair. >.>
  21. Yeah, I know those two sort of annoyed me, which is funny, cause the other two cities have a much nicer voice acting. I guess they wanted to give people who go to Gridania that wonderful "Eh?!" logic. I must be one of the few that enjoyed the banter between them (especially the part where the woman thought they were dead. *shrugs* The Lalafell sounds kinda like Private from Penguins of Madagascar. Not that I watch it or anything *cough* Anyone else notice that those two plus the Thancred(spelling) have the same neck tattoos? So far all the cast that the player has contact with has those marks, and I did enjoy their banter. Just somewhere my brain did a few logic checks. Though the matrix bit amused me with the Moogles. :moogle:
  22. One - Congratulations! Two --- Yeah, I know those two sort of annoyed me, which is funny, cause the other two cities have a much nicer voice acting. I guess they wanted to give people who go to Gridania that wonderful "Eh?!" logic.
