Ah hells, that was actually a typo (and why I should not write things at 7-8am with no coffee). They believed he WAS a soldier, thus why he was thrown in the Bloodsands. As for him not being religious, it is because he is--- kinda upset with the Moon Goddess. He was taught the ways of his people, but he feels abandoned by her and so, in anger, he ignores those teachings; Maybe one day this will change! I will fix that typo though!

I decided to go ahead and work a bit more with what everyone had given me so far. While this is a rough write up of perhaps what will be the actual character, I imagine there is still room for some improvement and I'm still very open to critique. So if anything jumps out, please let me know! Meantime, gonna see if I can figure out a server for this guy. Name: ??? Noykin Age: Mid to late 20s Gender: Male Race/Clan: Au Ra Xaela Religious: No Personality: Spirited, Stubborn,Ruthless, Aloof, Compassionate, Humble, Distrusting Brief History: Conscripted in as a child after the death of most of his family, he was forced to work hard labor from mining, digging wells, and heavy lifting for the Garlean Empire. While attempting to escape many times, he was never fortunate enough to get away with the punishment becoming worse each time, but like the horses of his land, he would not be broken so easily. Eventually though, they did grow tired of his behavior and many attempts, but instead of killing him themselves, they decided to force him into the battlefield. Forcing him to fight or die, but this would be their mistake, for when the time was right... He ran like the mighty mustang of his home plains; They would never force his hand again. While crossing the border was freedom from one life, it placed him right into the clutches of another. Directly into a patrolling Immortal Flames, wearing Garlean armor still. While fate be kind, that they did not kill him as he surrendered quickly, fate was still cruel as none believed he was not a real soldier, and so he was given the choice... Die in the arena or win his way to freedom. For if he was against Garlemald and he wanted his revenge, the answer would be very clear. So when the first battle came with no real armor or weapon, he made it clear. He would get his revenge and one day free those who were still captive. Free the conscripts that the Garlean Empire so forcefully held. Thus, with each battle in the arena, his heart hardened more and he focused solely on his desire. This brutal form and savage might, gained the attention of several wealthy traders looking for fighters to act as mercenaries. Those that would not shy from battle, protect their cargo, and did not fear death. They saw these attributes in him, like several other fighters and started to hire him. Though perhaps not true freedom, it was mark that he was getting close to it. For to see the stars of the night sky and the rising sun once more, was good enough and after several years of the arena, he wondered as he walked those trails with other mercenaries, if he could ever truly leave such a life, but only time would tell.

Thank you all for your replies thus far (and keep them coming!). The responses help me break down a bit in thought over what is doable, along with correcting my errors in my original thoughts. Based on what you have all brought up and going back to my original idea... Maybe we can go with the idea of being a conscripted worker for the Garlean Empire forced to work the mines, which was brutal because he was always trying to fight back. Sort of like a wild mustang refusing to be broken. He then tried to make a run for it when he was a bit older, but he was caught and then they decided, since he wanted to fight so badly, they knocked him out and then threw him out in the front lines of some war; Probably hoping he get himself killed. He managed to survive and play dead for a bit, till he believed it was safe and then started to scramble his way for the borders. Problem was, when he did make it over the border, he was mistaken for a soldier of Garlemald still and given the whole war between Eorzea and Garlemald, they captured him, didn't believe him, but someone thought it be amusing to use him for entertainment and tossed him into the arena. With no weapons, or armor. Once again, he should have probably died and a few times he nearly did, but kept finding the means to survive. Either from brute force or just sheer grit. Maybe someone took pity on him and decided to believe his story, so they paid for him to be released and took him under their wing. While maybe now a "free man", he stays with this person out of honor and perhaps, life-debt. Other option.... All the stuff above, but he never got "bought", he is still "not free", but he gets hired out for mercenary work at times, thus when he is allowed to see the sky, because some saw his performance and decided to pay for his work out in the field at times. Which means the only time he gets to see the sky, the smell of the sand, is when someone hires him to do their dirty work. Which beats being stuck inside a cell with no view of the sky. A bit darker, but I was re-reading the lore stuff and saw "mercenary work" and went "Hey! That would be cool!" Which also would help explain his sometimes random absence from the world. How does the new and improve version work there for folks?

Given how predominant the Au Ra are in Othard, any Ul'dahian worth their salt would recognize them, especially those involved in trade. As for Ceruleum Mines, if I recall, Ceruleum is like oil. You don't actually mine it, and it would be difficult for Garlemeld to use slave labor around such a precious resource. They also don't really need to rely on slave labor because they have magitek, constructs don't need to be fed [also playing with the Empire's over-dependence on using technology; they're a people who make magitek claws load cannons just because]. Most of the 'bad' things come from the refugee populations that Garlemeld creates from their expansion, such as Doma and Ala Mhigo. It is also implied that a fair proportion of the Legions forcefully conscript their soldiers (especially the legion under Gaius's command in Ala Mhigo), so instead of being a miner, your Au Ra could have been a conscript sent into battle as fodder by some of the more sadistic centurions. Of course, information is scarce about what actually happens in Othard and Ul'dah doesn't lack unscrupulous merchants. Thank you for the reply! Also, oops on that detail regarding Ceruleum. I think I was getting my old facts when they would mine aethryte crystals and use a process to convert them to Ceruleum mixed up with the actual resource itself. Those are also good point brought up, so mining out of the picture! But yeah, there are some shady merchants in Ul'dah who might enslave a youth to be a slave in fights/whatever. Though that have to be a very grave secret, cause I do imagine it would be frowned on (maybe?) by some more higher voices in the Syndicate. I guess I'm also trying to find a means in character story also to help with the fact that my life sometimes gets fairly busy and I can't be around often... That and I do love corruption/dark stories where it a struggle. Never been a fan of the easy "hero" roads.
-
Addition: The other idea also could be he gets away as a young teen and taken in by the Brotherhood of Ash, thus raised, taken care of, and lives with the Amal'jaa, where being part of civilization is an after thought at first, but curious about it as he has gotten older. Though this means his mannerisms would be more like theirs and RP wise he always would be found out in the deserts, hunting the tempered, aiding people in mysterious ways, and doing things the nomad way.

Hello everyone, So, I'm thinking about a new character. I played around with an idea on the Jenova server, though I am not sure i'm happy about it and I'm chewing on some more ideas, including where I would take theme, given while my old home was Balmung, I'd rather go somewhere else and check out things; Along with other Roleplay styles. What is this idea though? Well, I am thinking about a Male Au Ra, probably of the Xaela race, because I love their dark scales. I also like the idea of the Au Ra because in Eorzea they are the strange race that doesn't belong. They come from Othard, many are escapees and they are still oddities--- maybe even seen as exotic creatures. That alone got me thinking about a much darker story, of what if a male Au Ra was taken as a child and sold off to slavery to work in Ceruleum Mines of the Garlean Empire, but he managed to escape when he was a young man, only to make it to the borders and be confused for some type of Beast Men. This lead to him being knocked out, chained up, and maybe sold to some house in Ul'dah as an exotic man beast, who was used in underground gladiator tournaments. When the Calamity came, he tried to break free, but instead ended up saving the guy's daughter... Though the 'owner' died and while the child was to young to free him, their uncle (or godfather) told him that if he could find the means to pay off what he was worth, he could be free, so he would need to find work, while juggling his new duties to the new 'owner'; Or something like that. These are my thoughts however and folks are free to weigh in to see what they think. If it to silly, if it makes sense, maybe there is some holes lore wise in it. Anything. Also maybe some suggestions on some servers. Thanks!

Hello everyone! So a long, long time ago, I played a character named Vaelyn Nykah. I also played several other characters, many which were all failed attempts, beyond Vaelyn, but-- due to life, issues, and just general RL drama, I faded away into nothing. I tried to come back a few times, but life continued to bite at my heels. In some ways, while I want to return, I'm worried it still will as to roleplay on an MMORPG takes a great deal of time and 0 life interruptions-- which life interruptions are sadly common for me given I take care of a handicapped mother who refuses to not get into things she shouldn't (and if I don't step in she can hurt herself). That said, here we are again. I miss roleplaying with so many of you. I miss diving into a character, into their mind, and breathing them to life in this beautiful world. I miss the IC drama, the stories, and the sense of community. I was able to shove it off to the side as I played Gaius Van Baelsar over on a MUSH; But that came to a close when ooc drama of the MU* smacked me in the face, because I apparently was to good at my job (and some folks can't separate ooc from ic). Long story short, I want to come back home (haha). I miss you guys and while I do have an ooc character lvling with some friends. I miss the roleplay adventures and hopefully, I can figure out away to be part of this community again, along with find away to express what I love in Hydaelyn without getting on someone's bad side. We will see though!

Yeah-- I think the LS has like 115 out of 128? I think that was the number when I checked this morning and about.. 50-70 of them were online. So yes, it isn't as large as Balmung's, but they are there. From when I also spoke to many of them, they are pretty good, nice people. They want to create a drama free RP community on the ooc side and keep the drama for IC. I'll probably assisting them in some ways, but my main focus /is/ here on Balmung with The Red Wings. Just glad to report this and see that yes, there is stuff on Siren and maybe eventually it will become something big(ish).
-
I did actually manage to find some of the RPers and got invited into the LS. This is their website for all the RPers it seems (though not everyone is part of it yet). Apparently is a community work in progress haha. http://sirenrp.enjin.com/

Thanks for the response back! I'm actually going to chew over if I want this guy to stay on Siren that I have their now, or make someone new. But once I do decide this, I'll give you a holler!
-
I know I have an alt currently on Siren myself, mostly cause I heard that some people were trying to get RP going and I figured I'd see what I could do to help. Probably gonna hang on Siren for a month or two, but if I probably don't get any RP connections there, may ship the guy Balmung. My character name is Lukang Drake, so if you catch me on. Feel free to friend me, maybe we can turn the drought around or something...

So I'm very at home on Balmung after being taken in by the Free Company I am in, but some friends of mine want to join in given they hear me talk about how amazing the roleplay is on Balmung and that it is always around! The trouble is that I realized given the expansion now out, that even tricks such as waiting for Maintenance or after no longer work it seems. Balmung is closed up tight and Gilgamesh is becoming almost as bad. NOW I've read some discussions on this topic, I know it may be a can of worms I'm holding, but I'm trying to decide what to do with my friends and I. I've heard on the grapevine that Siren is looking for more roleplayers and I saw in Other that Organization 14 is the only Free Company there supporting roleplay on Siren, but is the only one listed. I seen over on Reddit some conversations on it and also a few forum topics on the main 14 board. I guess what I'm trying to decide is if I should swing for Siren to see if my friends and I can aid in the growth of Siren's RP, who is all over there (that may be on here), and how alive is it over there for those who are? Thanks guys. PS - I'm not leaving Balmung with Yamah for those who may be concerned, just trying to figure out an alternative for my friends without them spending money to transfer.

[Critique/Help Wanted] Two Au Ras - Two different styles
Koti Nexus replied to Koti Nexus's topic in RP Discussion
So taking into account this whole conversation we been having and doing some deeper stare down with Katsumi to feel him out as an individual and less as a character. I have written up this tidbit of a summary. I think this is far more fleshed out then it was earlier and now actually feels like someone, then well, something. Also thank you for the advice and direction. it has been a great help! Age: 27 Gender: Male Birthday: 26th Sun of the 3rd Astral Moon Known Job: Mercenary Side Profession: Treasure Hunting, Scavenging, Illegal Trade, Whatever Information: Katsumi was never happy with his life among the mountains and at a young age found himself running away from home, including find the means to get onto a passing ship in order to be a stole away. Once the ship got to its destination, he quickly darted off and hit the streets of a foreign land from land moving from one adventure to the next. Though that is how he would explain things, but the truth is hard to find in his web of lies and tall tales. It goes from everything of him being a pirate, a trader, an explorer, and even a gladiator. While perhaps he has been all of these things at some point, what is clear about Katsumi is his down right greed. He is a mercenary through and through, willing to do anything for the right price. He has no true moral compass, but his own, which can change on the fleeting whim of how much he likes or dislikes someone. He holds no true friends, but only those with deep pockets, but once they are dried up, he is gone. He loves to kill-- anything really and he loves a good fight. He doesn't care about family or home. Not even the troubles of the poor, little man. He rather using them as a stepping stone to get to his next ticket of fortune. Katsumi Duskblade is also egotistical and prideful. Only thinking of himself and never anyone else. At least not what can be observed on the surface and perhaps even deep in too. There has been no reason for him too, as it has always been him. Which is the way he likes to keep things. Oh sure, he'll work with people or for people, but by the end it is always hard to say where he'll be next or with who. One night stands are even a common thing, as he sees himself as a charmer to the ladies and doesn't exactly take no as an answer-- only because it could lead to a fun fight. But he is no idiot. He knows when to pick his fights and also how to back out of them if he believes they will cause more trouble than they are worth. Not desiring to find himself behind bars without a contract deed to throw his own tracks clean. Though he may have faced a time or two behind bars, including found ways to get himself out. His motivation though seems to be self serving, greed and perhaps even fame. He wants the world to come to know him, ladies to bask at his feet, and to sit upon an empire which he can call his own one day. To rule over all pirates, scoundrels, traders, and royalty alike. He wants to be on the top of the food chain and everyone below him. Willing to risk it all in his chase of greed and power. To be the king of his own world. -
[Critique/Help Wanted] Two Au Ras - Two different styles
Koti Nexus replied to Koti Nexus's topic in RP Discussion
I think I want him to be an antagonist. Someone who doesn't have any real morals or any real cares about morals. He makes up his own rules and screw what anyone else thinks. He likes money though and probably make it worth his while, he may actually play nice. Someone doesn't agree with him, he may just smile at them or threaten them with a knife. If some woman calls him a jerk, he may just push further until she runs-- and if she slaps him-- he may actually see it a push harder move. So a real a-hole, if you know what I mean. Maybe a little bit crazy, maybe just a bit intelligent enough to know the lines, including how to walk around them to not get caught. That kinda guy. Which is probably less bad guy really and more just someone who gets on everyone's "sh*t list"? Maybe... -
[Critique/Help Wanted] Two Au Ras - Two different styles
Koti Nexus replied to Koti Nexus's topic in RP Discussion
Thanks for writing back! I see what you mean about asking why and I will admit that with Lukong I was doing this, but when writing for Katsumi I felt like I was forcing myself to get into his head to figure him out. Which I know from my years back in the days of Message Board RP and so on, is a massive big no-no. So the critique there does bring that into proper prospective and I may need to slide Katsumi on the backburner to let him stew I suppose, while maybe running Lukong out. Like you said, look at him as an individual, sit down, and try to get him to talk up about those why's instead of trying to force feed the character what I /want/ them to be. Though I do admit on that, I'm not sure what a good villain direction would be. I know about the Ascians, the tempered, the Heretics, the Pirates, Black Market... Almost wondering if I shouldn't hook up with an already established group and maybe see if something could be worked out to figure a good starting spot really. Cause the other hang up I have is I know his origins have to start in Othard and I know Othard was Garlean Territory until recently... but I really don't want to play the Garlean card, cause that is probably an overdone card. -
So in the connections thread I talked about a pirate Au Ra-- I still want to do one, cause I still want to try my hand at EVIL. Though I know in a game like this, its hard. That is understandable. I actually have plans for 2 Au Ra characters. One is the "Bad Guy" and the other is a bit of a "Druid" (I suppose). Oddly enough, the "Druid/Hunter" to me feels more alive, then the Pirate does and that actually bugs me. Maybe because something about the Pirate route is cliche or something. Though I am not sure what other evil direction to go in. Could do Ascian servant-- but that is probably a massive red flag of "do not touch". So I'm open for ideas on him (I actually have him generated, not the Druid/Hunter-- I'm gonna try to get him generated later this evening or early tomorrow morning). Anyways, here is the two and please, please please please, let me know what you guys think. Any suggestions, thoughts, comments, whatever. Thanks! Katsumi Duskblade - (The Bad Guy) Age: 27 Gender: Male Birthday: 26th Sun of the 3rd Astral Moon Known Job: Pirate & Criminal Side Profession: Treasure Hunting, Scavenging, Illegal Trade Information: Katsumi Duskblade was born in the lands of Othard but for his parents to avoid him being in the servitude of the Garlean Empire any further, they managed to sneak him out to a pirate vessel that was stationed along the coastal borders. Pleading with the captain, the man took the young boy and made him part of the crew. Katsumi was nothing more for the longest time one of the deckhands and used for the labor of the ship. Treated as an outsider, but eventually took notice during a battle where he actually protected the very captain. From then Katsumi was given more respect as one of the crewmates and dreamed one day of having his own ship to sail the seas. Being a pirate like the Captain, who learned that even with all the cruelty the lad endured, he always respected him and wanted to be like him. Now though he is on his own and working to become just like that Captain. To also become a name that not only be feared on the seas, but all will come to fear his name in time. Lukong Drake - (The Hunter/Druid) Age: 30 Gender: Male Birthday: 25th day of the Fourth Umbra Moon (8/25) Known Job: Hunter (Lancer, archer) Side Profession: Tracker, Scout, Animal Whisper Information: Lukong came from a small hunting village, but a heavy storm came and it destroyed everything, including claimed everyone's life -- all but his. He was spared and started to roam alone. This eventually lead him to Eorzea and he made home in the Black Shroud. He was drawn to the nature and beauty of the forest, including the game he could hunt, but he never did so with proper tribute for any that he would kill. Spoken in a tongue of his ancestors and ancestors before him. He is quiet and doesn't talk much. Typically is someone who may come across mute and is more apt to display physical expressions than that of words. If he does speak, it is short, sweet, and blunt. He will also sometimes speak in the language of his ancestors in silence to himself, but he never shows a desire to share the knowledge, seeing it as an act offensible to the Dusk father and mother. He also doesn't smile often and he loves the creatures of the forest. He hates poachers and desires one day to teach people too how to tame creatures, like he does. Including even beasts thought untamable, but that will take time and like with the beasts, along with hunting, he is patient. Very patient.

I haven't really dived much into the character of this guy yet, but a friend of mine jokingly called him "If Kefka was an Au Ra" when I took a shot of him just smiling at the camera. This sparked an idea of making an Au Ra character in Limsa Lominsa who is not such a nice guy. I'm thinking maybe a pirate, who doesn't have a problem in dealing with the Black Market, but maybe something went wrong. He got stuck in Limsa Lominsa and is now trying to ends meet by rebuilding himself (and possibly working connections with shady types). He isn't afraid to kill, he doesn't have any really good morals, and he is a bit of a jerk. Now if he comes from Othard-- probably. Maybe he left with the others or maybe he left early on before others found away out. Maybe he escaped from being shot down by the Garleans. I am not sure on those details. Hell, he probably makes up tall tales to make himself look good. And while I could make him not a "bad guy", I get tired of playing "hero" types in many of my past RPs and saw there was a few LSes that like the shady types. So I figured, why not-- you know? I just don't have a really good ground work for him yet, but trying to see if anyone may be interested though n such an idea while I keep hammering away details.
-
Thanks for the tip and yeah, as you can see. I did indeed contact him. As for the FC. I'll look into it a bit more and we can talk some sure. I'll see if I can catch you on game though!
-
Thanks for the reply! I'll keep that in mind if I ever decide to go over there for some of my roots RP, given I am really familiar with forum and I do admit, it is probably less intimidating for me (Though I'll need to get over that. I know), but I'm not here just for that after all. When you suggested The Red Wings, I went ahead and gave them a read over. They seem like a pretty interesting group. I think my only concern I have right now is my time restraints. I'm a touch worried that may interfere with big RP events because of my living schedule and sometimes life interference. Now I know people typically say "Life comes first", but it does kinda impact how much people do want to interact with you sometimes-- Though that is understandable. So I am wondering how much patience people have here, but I'm also going to guess that is person from person... Anyways! Thank you again for the response and I'll probably contact the guild leader to see where maybe he stands on it all. Meanwhile, any other suggestions on perhaps a good way to break in a character in this type of environment?

Hello everyone! You can call me Hawkblade, which is the last name of my character on the Balmung server. I do have some experience with Roleplaying, but I'm really out of step with the whole MMORPG roleplaying scene. Most places have been over other text based mediums like message boards and stuff. So lets go over the basics! --------- The Character - Character Name: R'yamah "Yamah" Hawkblade Race: Male Miqo'te - Seeker Of The Sun Birthdate: 10/23 (23rd sun of the 5th Umbra moon) Brief Short History: His mother left her clan, was found by a Highlander Miner out near Ul'dah who took them in. She died due to the illness she had, but Yamah was raised by the old miner who resides on the outskirts of Ul'dah; Thus where he gets his last name. Yamah wants to become a member of the Immortal Flames one day, helps out where he can (Gladiator Arena, Flames barracks, The Mines, etc) and gets some training from a few Gladiators that appreciate what he does; Most of the time he tries to train himself. He wants to one day repay the old Highlander for everything he has done. ----------------- On Me - RP History: Message boards, AIM, Skype, different forms of text based mediums and some D&D awhile back. Been roleplaying awhile, just not for some time on an MMO. So could be a bit out of practice (and shy, very shy). Time of operation: I live here in Arizona so I'm -7 GMT. I tend to be free in the morning hours (8:00 -12:00 and sometimes in the late evening (19:00 - whenever I go to bed). Sometimes I could be on all day! I can not list what days though, as my schedule moves around quite a bit. Just catch me when you can catch me! Spelling & Grammar: I'm not the best, but I do try. So for those of you who are really critical on this, I may cause you to eye twitch from time to time, but I do try to catch myself. I also try to make sure things do read clearly. Former MMO History: I have played recently on WoW, Istaria, EVE, & ESO. I am currently only on Istaria and here, though I am debating on returning back to EVE as well. Consensual Roleplay: I believe in Consensual Roleplay. If I believe an action I'm about to do, may be negative to your character or negative greatly to the scene. I will always ask permission of the group by via party or by tell. I do not believe in godmodding or trying to control someone's character without their OK. I do not like people who do this and I know I will not put up with it myself. Mature Roleplay: I do not mind Mature roleplay, to a point. I tend to keep things though rather PG-13, with very few curse words (if any at all) and I'm not really into ERP, but I wouldn't be telling the truth if I said I did not partake in it with a friend given that is where RP eventually lead us and I trusted them. Typically however, I would rather fade to black. Anything else: I do not belong to any Linkshells or Free Companies. I'd like to join some eventually, just as I'd like to break free of my shyness when it comes to just random socialization. My hope is I can do that here, as I seen a great deal of roleplay happening at the bar/inn which made me really happy to see. So hopefully I'll get a chance to meet some of you and find a happy place among all of you! Look forward to seeing you guys in game (and maybe here on the forums too) Which does bring me to one question of all of you: How does forum roleplay here impact roleplay on the game?
-
Some people may have known me as Vaelyn Nykah loong ago. I pretty much left the RP front due to life events and just not having enough time. In truth, me coming back is a minor experiment to see if I even have the time to honestly roleplay on an MMO, because I really do miss the community of like minds and though I run a Final Fantasy XIV Theme on a MUSH, it isn't always the same thing. Now that said, as it has been a long time and I know there are some heavy debates over dragoons, I figured I post this character up here while he is still in his very 'baby' stage of growth from IC interactions for aided help on taking a hammer to him if someone sees something that may be out of place. This is an extreme rough draft of the character and critiques are welcomed, any suggestions, or 'likes' or 'eehs'. So yeah, he up for review! --------------- Name: Sorel Caudron Age: 32 Gender: Male Race: Elezen (Wood) Home Nation: Ishgard Original House: Durendaire Religion: Halone, The Fury Brief History Rundown: * Sorel was born an Ishgardian as amember of house Durendaire. His father was military and his mother was of the church. * He followed along his father'sfootsteps to join the military at the acceptable age. * His father was killed during his timeof training during a dragon invasion before the events of the Calamity * Sorel wanted to avenge his father soseeked to become one of the holy knights of Dragoons. * He was accepted and his trainingbegan, and still going even as forever winter claimed Coerthas, however during those years under training and making his way to become a full fledged dragoon, he was framed for the acts of a heretic-- along with his mother. * Though he managed to escape, hismother allowed herself to be captured in order to try to prove that neither she nor he were of the heretic order. Willingly dropping into the witchdrop for them both. * However because he was not presentnor could be found, they held the charges against him as one of the heretics. * Sorel though wanted to find the manresponsible for the framing and bring them to proper justice, as they were probably the true heretic and House Durendaire could be in danger for all he knew. * Though trouble tended to follow himwhile he was aware from Ishgard, leading to several poor life choices and bitter issues. * He at first didn't stay in theTwelveswood because it was to close to Ishgard. * He traveled too Ul'dah to try andsold his things along the way, including a good deal of what gear he had on him to get up enough coin. He then used that coin for gambling to try and raise up more capitol to maybe buy back some of the things he sold. This failed. (Also ton of bar brawls in between and getting booted from many settlements bars cause of it) * Instead he ticked off the wrongpeople and fled to Limsa Lominsa in hopes to hide out there. Only to be dragged back in the middle of one night and handed over to the group he wronged. * He was then tossed into the gladiatorgames to make up the coin. * He found the means to escape whensomeone took interest in him for the night and used that a means of escape as they slept. * Took what he could and made a run forit back to the Twelveswood. Where he then remained, hiding out in the forest in his paranoid state and hunting any game to sell off to those of need of the leather or meat. Maybe starting to piss off the elements by this point, but who knows! Personality Traits: Sorel is heavily paranoid about peoplehe meets, concerned that it may be the Syndicate from Ul'dah, some paid bounty hunter, or maybe even one of his own coming to bring him back. In this he doesn't trust anyone, but at the same time he missed the interactions he once had in the military-- that brotherhood that was taken from him. He also has no idea who framed him andhis mother. Fearing that they too could be stalking his every step and sometimes wonder if maybe he did do something; Perhaps that is why the mighty goddess continues to curse him with constant misfortune. Wondering if he'll ever get a break from it all. If he isn't being paranoid and isn'tdrunk off his ass, Sorel can be a rather nice guy. He can be a bit dry in his humor, even sometimes a touch cruel, but his heart is in the right place. He cares for others and though the constant impacts in such a short time has hardened his defensive walls, he does sometimes let a bit of his normal self through. For he does desperately want someone he can trust. When he is drunk, he gets a bit--stupid. Rambling off about things that sometimes make no sense at all and if you even say anything that could be taken as fighting words, he'll quickly go on the offensive like a coil ready to spring. Him and being drunk is /not/ a good thing and shows that more crazy side of what this world has done to him. Also don't get him started on dragonswhen he is drunk. He may never stop until he passes out or find himself getting into a fight over it, declaring someone a heretic out of his state of idiocy. Best thing anyone can do if they ever befriend him is keep him away from the booze. Seriously. In combat, he has become cautious.Though he has the training of a dragoon. He knows how to wield the lance with efficiency and accuracy, he tends to hold back. In some ways its because he has become fearful of his own weapon and the past it holds, causing him to take up self taught knowledge (and many failures) with other weapons, such as the bow for hunting. Though there is always the reliable fists, but his brawling stance is no match for someone who is a trained martial fighter in the fist brawls. The only time he does shine is with thelance, but because of that fear that holds him back, it may become obvious to anyone that has long years of training in the same weapon that he /is/ holding back and stays far more on the defensive with it then on the offensive. This has lead him many times then notleaving his lance at home, and just taking with him a wooden staff, which he uses many of his polearm training with and it is here that his fear does not take hold and one can see simply the training of years upon years of making to that almost status of being a dragoon. Now if someone could just get him overthe fear of his own lance and maybe get him over his mental breaks that not everyone is out to kill him. There may be some hope for him and maybe, just maybe, he'll find someone who could finish his education as a Dragoon-- not that he'll ever wear the armor, but it is never about the armor, but what is in the heart itself. And that heart of his needs a ton ofduct tape and super glue.

Hahaha. This may turn into former Garleans vs current Garleans, and we shall have an epic battle of traitors vs soldiers! But yeah, I am pretty open. We'll see what comes and like I said, if anyone wants to play some of his old comrades he may have known. I got no problem with this. It may cause him to trip up a bit (which be hilarious). Also still playing around with giving you guys a straight up Garlean soldier. Thinking about an Archer, so if they /ever/ release freakin the class where we can wield guns.. I'll keep you guys posted on that front.

If I am not on Vaelyn, I am on Jayce Sylvora. These are two I tend to bounce around between due to both having some heavy RP connections with people. I do have another alt, but haven't done much with her. Her name is kinda insane because of being a Sea Wolf (Geyssfohc Skyltahrwyn). I also have fourth (or fifth?) who I may throw at you guys as a true up military Garlean, but I am trying to decide if I wanna do that or not. (He is pretty wild looking right now and I decided for lawls to see if I could make a successful looking half-Elezen.. which amazingly worked). So I may change him up and scrap his name (cause it is far to American), but not gonna give that over cause I am kinda fudging around with him atm. So yeah, those are the 3 names you will most likely find me running around on.

Hey there, Glad to see some people are interested in actually playing some Garleans and still being loyal to the Empire. I would jump on this stick, but sadly Vaelyn already had his "return" and then turned right back around to "betray" the very Empire, only because of his love for a very lucky woman. That sad back in 1.0, a friend of mine was actually playing an assassin, who was going to make Vaelyn's life /hell/ for betraying the Empire-- knowingly. He was going to pretty much take everything he knew in Ezorea, everything he loved, and pretty much destroy it. Sadly, end game came and the threat was never able to be fully carried out. Along with the fact that I have simply forgotten what Vaelyn's Garlean name was (cause a year of no rp, its easy to forget those kinda details). Back in 1.0 I also did a /TON/ of research on Garleans, including I was working on a thing explaining what I had broken down in my journal on the blog.. sadly.. 1.0 blogs went bye-bye, along with everything I broke down (grr). What I do remember and its a fun fact about Garleans, is that they are not able to use magic. Any "Garlean", who does use magic is probably not from the main motherland and probably were those who were hypnotically mind-controlled into Garlean empire as little children from Ala Migho or some such. So I know for Vae, he had to borrow some supplies from Isilime (as he helps her work on the Magitech armor) to repower his armor, because his armor is what allows him as a Dragoon to create fire on his spear and do the things that most would use magic for. The reason his armor stopped working-- Ather-shifting-- since he was from 5 years ago. LONG story short. If /any/ of you are interested in maybe picking up where my friend left off or even a few of you want to play maybe a long lost friend of my characters (cause he did have friends in the Empire, before he went traitor). Let me know. I'll love for some character torment. And yeah-- if you are interested in it. I'll hunt around to see if I can remember what his original name was. Its somewhere! EDIT: I found Vaelyn's original name - Vaer LyKean (Though I created it before SE made a statement on what Garlean names were like. Yay for doing this stuff back in 1.0 and having to dig far harder then ARR cause Yoshi is <3 and loves us roleplayers)
