NA Adventurers! Looking for RP? New to RP? Welcome to Mateus!
Koti Nexus replied to M'naase Rahz's topic in RP Discussion
There is an actual project underway to work with coordinating with current FCs that are out there and thus doing world events, however it is going a bit slow due to rl issues and far more rapid growth than really anyone can keep up humanly possible. Given the RPM just had to create a third linkshell and right now, the Mateus HUB is the only large free base of gathering, which the link is always usable, so it can be handed out to any looking to connect with rpers not tied down by community rules: https://discord.gg/HPbYNFU But things are in the works. -
Hey there! I do apologise in advance, as I am writing this from my cellphone. But, you can find several FCs and LS listed under their respected listings under "other". There is a discord group, but I can't link it due to phone. But I do hope that helps you some!
-
Oh Hey there! Yeah we got room still! If I see you online while I'm on Vaelyn, since I friended you as him, I'll get you on the linkshell!
-
We sure do! Just keep an eye out for the names listed above and I may be one of my alts today, which are: Morgana Tempest Auryn Khadus Rene Marques Orianne Silvius And if them, probably on my main Vaelyn Nykah. Till then, feel free to join the Mateus Hub (They are not the RPM, but have a ton of about everyone on it): https://discord.gg/HPbYNFU

Those Transferring To Mateus (Mateus Discord)

Haha, I don't mind it really! I know Barsz, one of our resident Pirate people would get a good jolly from the pirating terms. -
Those Transferring To Mateus (Mateus Discord)
Koti Nexus replied to Koti Nexus's topic in Player Directory
Just gonna give this a little nudge. -
To those who are transferring to Mateus with it being the referred server for free transport, I would one like to say welcome to our server and secondly, I am going to link here the Mateus RP Hub, which is just a Discord service which connects all roleplayers, linkshell organizations, and Free companies together. We are also working on a Discord service to connect all FC leaders together in order to help organize large world events. Though more information will be coming on this a bit later. Thank you all and looking forward to seeing those on Mateus! Mateus RP HUB: https://discord.gg/HPbYNFU

NA Adventurers! Looking for RP? New to RP? Welcome to Mateus!
Koti Nexus replied to M'naase Rahz's topic in RP Discussion
Before we go down another dark, deep road of finger pointing and nay-saying, lets remember that we are a Roleplay community no matter what server we choose or where we are. Yes, there are going to be individuals who don't like this and there will always be individuals who don't like the "roleplay" crowd, but in the end, we are-- no matter what server we are on-- a community. That is what these forums were originally designed for and really the segregation, while human nature at times, doesn't need to be brought within a form of entertainment. We are all here to have fun. Given I am someone who started the RPM and started the push to Mateus- including been dealing with naysayers for nearly-- what feels like a month now. I do have to silently wonder how much longer will folks continue to beat this dead horse. There is nothing wrong with growth. I am glad to see this guy post this thread, because it shows that the growth is moving outside of the RPM. This whole thing on Mateus has shown, with a strong, friendly, willing community, other smaller servers can step up. And we all, in the end, need to remember what we are here to do, as a community. Tell stories and have fun. Not throw stones and sticks at one another. I mean, hey, if that is what you want to do in the end-- No one can tell you no, but... yeah. Thanks all for being positive support on this subject thus far. Those of you who are. You are amazing. That also said, yes, the RPM has 128 members on 1 LS, we have 108 members on the 2nd, around 50 alts on the alt ls, and we have nearly 90+ members listed in the hub (which is not the RPM, but still part of the friendly rp arm of the community) Now let us eat cake and cheese, cause Stormblood is near! -
What do world transfer incentives mean for us?
Koti Nexus replied to Skullcrusher's topic in FFXIV Discussion
Man, I just had a thought. It'd kinda suck that we've been trying to build up the RP population on Mateus... what if the growth ends up being enough that it drops off the list of choices? I hope that doesn't end up being the case. Yeah but that's good news, it mean Mateas will have a stable population capable of supporting sustainable RP and then we can work on building up Jenova or Fairie. I play on Fairie with a group of friends and I can say that the server has gotten pretty full. I've seen some RP there, but its very rare so I don't think it would be a good destination for RP. It might be best to start on one of the brand new servers so that we stake our claim early. I will say this, that if they do give us a NA new server, I will make an alt there to help the rp community grow and thrive. I like supporting Roleplay communities, because I enjoy that luxury on 14. -
Indeed! There is the Mateus RP HUB and then there is the RPM's. The Mateus RP Hub has no linkshell but is a massive social gathering of all types of walks of life in the RP community with no real "community" rules. While the RPM has community rules which we do try to enforce to show ideals of an RP community, but they are not enforced outside of the RPM's linkshell and discord, understandable since all Free Companies and other communities do have their own beliefs on how things should be done. In essence, the RPM was the founding start, but given the size, it is now simply a branching location, should someone decide they wish to branch off of us, but it is not required.
-
Its going fairly well! We have the max on one linkshell and we have 108 on the secondary. This also does not account for those coming in that have started their own RP Linkshell community and those only on the Mateus RP Discord HUB. Many of the Free Companies it seems have a decent size amount of people and the community tends to grow about daily from what I can gather. Mind you, this is based somewhat purely on observation, since we don't exactly have the data sheets like the boys over in SE have. But, from what I can tell. Things are moving along nicely! Though I do anticipate a bit of slow down, perhaps even some quiet from the community as we head into Stormblood for a week or two, only because everyone will be doing the new content and racing with the two new jobs to get to 70 with them.
-
Hey there! I'll be on tonight for a few hours! If i am not on Vaelyn, look for Orianne Silvius or Auryn Khadus, those are two of my other alts.
-
Hey here! We still have room in our secondary LS last I checked yesterday for my short time on. Many of us having kinda gonna quiet I admit, while we are waiting on Stormblood to get here (new combat system has a few of us just in waiting, haha). I would say keep an eye out for the names listed here in the RPM and if you still can't find them online or get in touch with them, fire me a PM and I'll see if I can get a time hooked up with y'all to get you in!
-
Hey there Miroell and welcome to the RPC! We have a lore thread here that goes over several lore type topics of the world Hydaelyn. There is also the lore thread on the official 14 forums that has topics that even goes into racial names brought to us by the head people at SE who created the lore themselves! There are also a few wikis out there that get into racial information, naming conventions for each of those races, and other bits of information. As for what server you should go onto.... I would suggest checking out the Linkshell > Other section, as there has been a few of us smaller servers cropping up trying to step up to become Roleplay locations. By consensus of the masses, most here on the RPC haven chosen Mateus, but that is not the only option! I would, again, check out the Linkshell > Other, see what is there, and look maybe also at the Making Connections thread. Where you go from here is up to you, but if you do decide to go with Mateus, please feel free to PM and I will get you hooked up with not only the Mateus HUB Discord, but also with the Roleplay Mateus Linkshell (and Discord). Best of luck!

Have you even been reading the posts in this thread? A lot of people on Balmung are helping already or have plans to do so when free transfers become a thing. It's not lip service. Time and effort are being put forth, or they soon will be. And as for the other Balmung RPers who want to continue enjoying this game that they pay money for in the community that they have already grown deeply attached to? They don't deserve to be bullied or lectured. They don't actually owe you anything. Your sense of entitlement is truly mind-blowing. I have to agree here. Many people from Balmung have come to our assistance on Mateus and I love the fact that the community is working together as a whole. While there are some people who don't desire to. That is fine. They don't have to. Even vocal support to me, is still support we need, plus-- well-- they pay for their own sub. They have the right to choose where they go, how they go, and what they want to do. People are doing what they can do and I know for myself, I am glad to even see a small sliver of help, because even that adds up in the long run.

Feel free to contact me by PM on what your idea is and we can discuss it a bit. I tend to keep the hidden details of the FC, well, hidden, as there are sadly folks who will meta this information and that would ruin the experience for some of us. It is a fine line that we tread on and we already had one group try to use ooc knowledge to kick us over. Thankfully, this was handled peacefully and things went smoothly. But i do look forward to discussing it with you further in PMs!

The Importance of Consolidating RP on Balmung and Having One RP Hub
Koti Nexus replied to Sig's topic in RP Discussion
I would like to say, just leaning in here that the Mateus HUB and the RPM are two different beasts on the Mateus server. The Mateus HUB tends to get most people because they have an open door but no real "moderators", thus people tend to speak more freely-- Though there was a heated debate over someone not using careful wording and then some words stated (which I believe was quoted here) that I wanted to slap the guy upside the head for. I also told him to have more tact, but they snarled back. Thankfully things cooled down and calm heads prevailed by the end of the day, but yes, words were spoken. Things got heated-- and in truth, things were not handed well on the HUB... But it also could have been far, far worse as well. Now I make no excuses for them, as I said, I wasn't happy with the way it was handled, but that is my place to overrule, nor is it the location I control. They did the best they knew how to do and the person who runs it, bless her heart, is also dealing with being a new mom and handling a new born child. Where I do have authority at is on the RPM and I have been working to point of nearly giving myself an ulcer (along with several of the moderator team), to quickly act as humanly possible to track down those who do want to destroy the friendly nature we are trying to build and also want to disrupt the relations between the RP community. BUT, we are limited to do the RPM and sometimes, even then, things slip because we don't have enough people on hand to catch everything time someone decides to start something. We are having growing pains. There are old guards who are not happy. There is also, however, excitement as well and motivation for what is being done. Its a mix community over on this server between two different mindsets. But we are TRYING and we are doing our damnest. I love Balmung, I loved Besaid. They are my homes, perhaps Besaid more so than Balmung, but I am not someone to ignore a community and we ask, please, just take things with a grain of salt, help build the community to the best of everyone's ability and while we work together, as a team, we will eventually get things settled out. Its going to be bumpy. Its going to be rough at times, but by the end of the day... It will be all worth it. -
Man, I think people forget that Balmung has its share of genuine human garbage, too. It's like families. Every family has one of those people. Same with communities. No matter where you go, you won't be able to escape them. Acting like Mateus is the only place where there's pushback is kinda ignoring the basic tenets of people being people. I mean like, what, a week or two before Balmung shut down wasn't there more tumblr vs RPC drama? (lol who am I kidding, that was every week) It's there, it happens. As other people said, the best way to fight it is just to ignore it and find people to be happy with. Because this is a hobby. It's not worth negative emotions. That only makes it even more like Ul'dah with its established families, individuals, and groups acting in a manner that is toxic to the overall environment. The funny thing about most settings is that they're based off of people. You could rip pretty much any setting and say 'look, this looks like our community in this or that way!' because people are people and ...yeah. Yes, but this one is especially relevant because it matches the game we are playing. In a way, I'm kind of saying, "Hey, look at this similarity we all share with this game world we love!" If this was World of Warcraft, I might have drawn the allusion from that instead, but its not, so I didn't. I wouldn't say we are a refugee camp, as many folks who join up are actually individuals who WANT to help out, and we have gained people also from other servers as well who desire to assist with Mateus growth. The refugee camp doesn't get anywhere, so really comparing it to that is-- misleading. If anything most those here are here, because they are new and looking for a home. Those that are from Balmung are looking to assist while hoping between the two servers. Others are here cause they want a new home and then there are the other server folks looking to help (like some balmung players), and yes, a few looking for a new home there as well. If anything, I see ourselves more like Revenant's Toll in Mor Dhona.

Updated the rules to reflect the rules on Discord that we enforce. As a note here as well, these rules are ONLY for the RPM linkshells/Discord. These rules do not apply outside of the RPM or the server as a whole. We are not a governing body. We are a branching place for people to get themselves settled before moving on.

To be honest I have 0 clue how bots work. The one installed on the RPM was setup by Rhys (one of my mods) but it does simple greets, I know on her HUB she has two bots one that does greets and the other that allows for people to connect their characters to some commands. If you can track down where this is coming from or PM me instructions on how to check, I can look into it myself. I have also further thoughts on this, but I'll keep those to private, but please, PM instructions and I'll look into it if I can. That said, I have 0 control or lead on the HUB, I only have control of the RPM and even then... I am probably going to be stepping down sometime in July. Been at this for nearly a year... Kinda tired.
-
And yeah, there is two groups. There is the Mateus HUB which is a collection of people, then there is the RPM (formerly RPC, but we changed that to end some confusion, oops!! ) I operate the RPM, which i just made a statement today, very clearly on the LS and on the Discord channel that any server bashing of any kind will not be tolerated, which will get someone a temp ban to a perm ban. It is something i take very seriously and so does my moderation staff. A few are Mateus people, but a few of us also on staff are from Besaid/Balmung and I am always observing folks to also look for more help there, because things are rough right now, but I have faith it will level out. I will probably be adding up a rule tomorrow (or later this evening when I am not so tired), enforcing this beyond just a post. As I said earlier and I will keep saying. There should be no "us vs them" mentality. People should be able to enjoy themselves without that and we have enough segregation issues in real life to not have it in a video game as well. And yes, some of us got caught with our pants down at how fast things happened and we are, yes, playing catch up. One moderator just had a baby, another one is dealing with life problems, another has kids to handle, and I have a handicapped mother who is fall-prone. We are trying and hopefully, one day, we will all look back on this and have a good laugh as a community of rpers, instead of seeing a separation.
-
Because of apparent confusion as we grew larger and larger, along with respect to the wonderful people of the Hydaelyn RPC ( ), I have changed the linkshell name over to RPM, instead of RPC. Hopefully this will lighten confusion, but if you go looking for us, please remember we are now RPM. Luv ya guys!

That title is slightly misleading, just going to say that up front. There is no wicked origin, nor is there any wicked attempts either. When I started this building process I had several characters on Balmung and, to be clear, my original home was Besaid, which yes, became Balmung. My reasons for doing what I did, what I started, was because I saw the flashing yellow light going "Warning! Balmung is reaching mass critical levels! Find a means to help it!" And that is what started this. While I can not speak for Mateus as a whole, nor will I, and I do thank you for your kind words at the end, but I like to remind that Rome isn't built in a day. We are going to have rough seas, massive storms, and possible clashes. That is life. That is the pains of a community growing. It is HOW people handle this, that defines not only the community, but we, as roleplayers, together. No place is paradise. There is always a dark corner and cynical people. I also will not deny that there has been some vocal minority voicing their dislike for somethings. I hate to see this, but again, that is people. There will always be the vocal minority, versus the silent majority. Do I think that silent majority should speak up more? Yes. Will they? Probably not. I also can't blame some of the folks snarling a bit, as they got hit by some of the toxic side and given the small town nature they are use to, they didn't know how to handle the city folk slang. Did it make it right for them to lash back? No. It doesn't-- but again people-- and we all carry on. We all move on. In order to BUILD a better community, we HAVE to, together, get past these rough points. We have to strive for something greater. When someone gives you hell and you don't like it, turn the other cheek and walk on. Eventually things will iron themselves out. Eventually, it will get better, but it takes a community effort to make things BETTER. To make it a brighter, healthier, future for everyone. This whole I vs them mentality needs to stop. We have to remember what we are all trying to do at the end of the day and use that to motivate ourselves. Hell, there are days I don't want to log in here, Discord, or even 14 because of all the stress I've been dealing with from the toxic, loud minority on all sides-- But you know what keeps me marching on? The silent majority. The ones who DM message me from Balmung, Siren, even Mateus and thank me for all the work we are doing. Thanking /US/ for breathing life into such a low pop-server that it couldn't even defeat a lvl 52 Odin several months ago and a few days ago, people chopped Odin down in a snap. Anyways, long story short-- Yes, we have rough waters to ride. Yes we have storms to face. We have growing pains to deal with. But it is how we, as a community, handle these things, is what will break or make this place. I also don't mean "a community" as in "Mateus", but as a community of "Roleplayers". I have taken my hands pretty much off the reigns. Growth is happening and if you don't like something, we have enough people where folks can go branch off. We also have the Hydaelyn forums, which can host information and events as well. We have the tools, we just as a community have to use them. And so I leave that with a message I wrote to the RPC after a mess that broke out over a combat system style of all things-- and was poorly worded when placed up by someone who was just trying to help: Also, I like to remind everyone. Things are not easy right now. We are not a governing body, we are a community. We are a community of roleplayes, all here to have fun and enjoy ourselves. Those in the moderating positions. In Co positions. We are people. Players. Individuals. We are here to assist, but we are not the all-knowing-government. We also, as a community, have to remember. It isn't about Mateus, Siren, Fairy, Balmung, or whatever server you come from. It is about us, as a roleplay community. We are the beating heart of 14, we are in this all together. The segregation needs to stop, we get enough of that in real life, we don't need to have it on a video game of all things. A video game which we all enjoy and love. A community which we all enjoy and love. Please keep things in perspective and remember what we are here to do. To have FUN. I love you guys and yes, things are rough right now, but remember these things and remember that we, as a growing community either in this linkshell or in the others we may go to, carry that growth with us. We are the guides to a tomorrow and the guides for a greater future. Thank you.

*looks in while eating a bowl of peaches* Anyone want some? That said, there are those of us working on the "Wyrmrest Accord" effect. I am one of them helping bring Mateus to the forefront and I will continue to do so, until I am unable to use this megaphone going "Give me your poor! Your hungry! Your adventures of old and new!" Because really, I see Mateus as very much as New York in the very early days of settlement. Hell, that is what I see the RPC Linkshell as-- New York and from there-- they go to the Hub-- and from there-- they travel out west, creating their own settlements and towns. Mining up gold and finding their own way. Other servers can do this as well, Jenova, Siren, Fairy-- I think to name a few. Though many of them have yet to speak up loudly. I wish they would because I do feel they have a place to offer as well. No one should see this as a place or time to despair, but a time to really reach out and MAKE something! I love the support of these forums and the people in general, because this support-- This support is what a Roleplay community is about. Not about Balmung or Gilgamesh, or Mateus, or any other server. It is about us, as a community, working together to strive for a goal. That goal right now is to help others find a new home in the frontier and make a new place. So, don't worry. Folks are stepping up. Things are getting done. Places are growing in strength and given probably next year, if things continue to grow well, continue to thrive strong like it is now... We as a community, will only be stronger for it and truly be one big family. Like we always have been. Also thank you guys for the Mateus support and love.

Hey there guys! I'm on a tad bit of a vacation just to regain my senses haha, but I would sugget you guys join the Mateus RP HUB located here: https://discord.gg/HPbYNFU And many of my RPC Linkshell providers are also in that same hub and if you can snag one there, they might be able to get you in and the RPC Discord. If you guys desire to do so, given the Mateus RP HUB is our massive gathering of Roleplayers from all walks and we are all one big part of the Roleplay family. But, Like I said, if you guys still want the linkshell, perhaps ask on there (no guarantees however) and keep an eye on the names listed on this very page!
