They do try, but it doesn't seem to stick to well, so I really hope you can find some like minded individuals there, as the server itself always seemed like a nice one from what I can recall. Other than that, welcome to the family!

There are some EU players on Mateus, as we have a few in the Free Company I'm an officer of and I know I see a few on the Discord servers as well. Hopefully things do work out for you and some other EU players can get in touch with you to give you a hand.

As I am from Mateus, I can in fact say we are the secondary RP server and Balmung's little sister. We do have two discord RP communities, the first I'll link is the largest, the second one is the smallest. I know the owner of the first and she is a nice gal. You can also find a list of some of the FCs and Linkshells here on Hydaelyn that are on Mateus, though you'll find more on the Discord's cause for some reason, they like using Discord. *shrugs!* If you are more of a EU player and like to find more of those, we do have some on Mateus, but there is also Omega, the other sibling server-- and I think there are some smaller RP servers as well, but their communities would have to speak for them, as they kinda come and go; Though its always nice to try and help communities thrive. Most of the people tend to hang in the Quicksands and outside of it as well; Ul'dah is a massive hub for all kinds of rp and social interactions. Hey there and welcome to Mateus! There are several RP HUBs on Mateus as Discord's go, I'll link you two of them below, that way you can skim over their listing of FCs and Linkshells as well (given not everyone from Mateus uses the RPC-- for whatever their reasoning). The other is that I am a member of an officer of an FC on Mateus called the Midnight Envoy, which is focusing around Adventure Guild style life, taking on contracts to kill all sorts of beasts, aid in the fight against the Garleans, and all while making some coin on the side. We are a Medium-Heavy focused RP, but, as I tend to quote from our leader, rp alone doesn't pay the bills, so we also focus on PvE content and being IC 24/7 is NOT required, just that when we do RP, we do so in a medium-heavy style. If you are interested in that path, let me know and I can prod our Recruiter to get ahold of you for both an invite and an IC interview (we also have our own Discord as well). Huh, that is weird. I'll have to inform our FC leader that the page seems to be hidden, but I'll take a look myself and see what I can do about it. Hey there, while I am not sure if the Midnight Envoy is what you might be looking for, for your character on Mateus, I figured I'd at least give the offer. The Free Company is a company focused on Adventurers being Adventurers and all the trouble there in. It is both PvE Content focused and Roleplay Focused, and we do have one or two EU players at the moment, including some of us NA players who are either up insanely early or stay up really late, so finding someone to hang with shouldn't be to hard. We are still growing our ranks out, so if you'd like to take a peak, I can give you our current topic that covers over our Rules, Regulations, and Info: If we are not fit for your character, than I understand completely. I do wish you the best of luck out there and who knows, maybe join or not, my characters might run into you while out there.

Hey There and welcome to the RPC! A location that has been around during the beta of 1.0 (... This place has been here for so long) You'll find a ton of rp resources here and some really friendly people! As for the RP community to join, there are several. Balmung (formerly Besaid) is the largest and oldest of the RP communities and just recently opened back up, however to get on, you'll either have to pray to hit the right time spot or pay. If you like massive RP communities, city like feeling, then it is the best place to be. The other would be Mateus, sister community to Balmung, which some folks from Balmung here on this server, and along with new faces. Its a much more small-town feel when it comes to the ooc community and the roleplayers tend to come in all types of flavors, being is fairly young. It is the server I, also come home these days (Though I'll always have a warm spot for my old server), and, as a shameless plug, am part of an FC that is recruiting, just started a story arch, and does both pve and RP content; Also tend to focus on the medium-heavy side when we do RP. The story focus of this FC known as Midnight Envoy: Adventurers being Adventurers -- Fighting Beastmen, Voidkin, and Garleans alike for the safety and freedom of Hydaelyn (and to fill some coffers to boot). You can also find other Linkshells and Free Companies up in the tabs above of all sorts of other places. Good place to also look to see what is going on (Though I'll admit for Mateus, not everyone lists here. For whatever their reasoning). The last RP server I know of that has been well Established is Omega, that is on the EU side, and while I don't know much about them. They are a friendly sort as well. Finally, we do have some newer communities trying to crop up, such as on Goblin, Siren, and even Ultros. So, you'll have plenty of choices to pick from and choose from. Hey there, as someone who helped fire up Mateus, I do wish you best of luck in your en-devour. My best suggestion for you, is just stick to your guns and don't back down. Its a slow, grilling process and it can, and will, take a ton out of you unless you have one heck of an amazing team behind you, and even then, it can get taxing. Just advertise where you can, make a Discord to help with ooc communications, and always keep your best foot forward. It may not grow in 2-3 months, it may take 7-8 months before things start to take place, but long as you keep at it, don't surrender, then do eventually end up working out. As I said, I wish you best of luck and hope the health of Ultros as RP goes continues to grow.

Welcome aboard to the RPC! If you do have some problems finding like minded roleplayers around your timezone, there is also the Omega Server, which is the EU RP server, though I do wish you best of luck on Balmung and hope you have a great time there; Just remember, there is always options.

Hey there, while late to this-- Welcome! Mateus is still a very active community, even with Big ol' papa-bear Balmung opening its doors again. That being said, there is no /wrong/ choice either, just comes down to feel your after. Mateus is still very much a small town feel, with many active people, where Balmung is the big city. Both are equally as active, just have different life-style behaviors, in away, you can create an alt on both and see which one really tickles your fancy, and there is nothing wrong with that! I can't speak for Omega, cause I never been there (since I'm a filthy American ), but always feel free to explore and check stuff out!

There are also some for Mateus as well, the largest one being Mateus RP HUB, which has... at least a good 400+ people on it. There are a few others as well, I'm sure, but I don't really keep up with what is going on these days. I've kinda fallen back into the shadows of FF14 society. I tend to actually play men, while being a woman rl myself. Like you, I just find it more enjoyable and easier to keep up a massive 4th wall between myself and my character. For some reason, when I create a female character, that 4th wall is thinner and that tends to bother me. There are times I can create a female and keep that 4th wall up, but I still know there are greater weaknesses in its design. I also find that I get better roleplay experience when playing a male character than a female. I have an idea as to why this is, but I rather avoid the topic, cause it also could just become a massive mound of salt (the curse of gaming as long as I have and roleplaying. You've seen a ton and you have put up with a ton too as a female gamer). In short, I think the other reason I play men over my own gender, not just cause they are fun to play, but also for their damn good looks (I like dressin' them fine), but I tend to get more respect (but again, see salt levels ).

They do run off aether, but anyone can use them. It's not powered by the user. As stated in the snipped above, Garleans can and do make use of them, including jamming them. The Garleans likely have -other- communication methods as well, similar to how players can also send letters. Based on some of the cutscenes, they probably have some form of radio as well. So I am super late to this topic, but based on a 1.0 storyline as well, Garleans communications were a pain in the arse for anyone to get their hands on. They were located inside their helmets, but anytime any got close to trying to get one, it would self-destruct. You, the Warrior of Light, somehow manage to get a helmet that doesn't explode and Cid uses this to monitor the Garlean activity in 1.0. It is my belief, based on this and how jamming works, that while those like Eorzeans used aether-based communications, Garleans use more of a form of radio-wave communications like we use in our own world. Get enough electric interference, such as what Cid does with the Lightning Crystal (or was it corrupted?? Either way...) and you scramble the electric waves within the air, keeping the signal from getting out-- or in. Cause generating a small burst EMP is a b**ch to communication radio waves. Also fun fact! For sometime after the Calamity, Linkshells didn't work either because of the aether changes and the moogles stepped up to become the mail service we have today, because they were tired of people shouting at one another. As of the time we play in 2.0, they got the aetheric currents back in order. This is also why the old Aetherytes no longer function and now just lay on the ground...
