I'm unconvinced this is really any meaningful thing. Coding seasons into the game world would take a great deal of effort. I don't know of any MMO that does such, and it would certainly be strange to presume that all of those fictional worlds were deliberately built with a completely vertical axis.

Then you are a strange person, but... more power to you, I suppose.

Ah, good question! Antimony is definitely a "for friends/family" kind of person. Hell, she's already very nearly died as a result of trying to bring her family back together and save her daughter from corruption. She would do anything for those she cares for - yes, even if it meant harming the planet or other people. Though I imagine that harm would be more a result of an omission of action, rather than any deliberate move on her part.

It really isn't... ? Society treats us poorly, thus our roleplay becomes an escape where these things no longer apply inside the circle. If anything, it should be obvious. im not quite sure what youre talking about. society doesnt treat me particularly poorly for playing video games. Not talking about video game players. I spoke of LGBT, and other romantic and gender minorities.
-
The seeming prevalence of minority-type characters may have something to do with how roleplayers are a minority in and of themselves, and frequently we belong to minority groups in real life. I can understand why it might be frustrating, though.

I honestly thought Korra and Asami's relationship was developed beautifully. It was great watching them bond and become closer through book 3, and then book 4 just cemented in my mind what direction it should go... couldn't have been happier with the ending. <3

Heh, those are the risks indeed, but considering the kind of situation our Hipparion tribe in particular live(d)(s) in, it would be important to have a lot of kids (especially during any times of plenty), to replace the likely high number of lives lost.

@K'nahli: I see where the confusion was now. To clarify: physical intimacy with any guy other than the Nunh = a no-no. Emotional intimacy is fine, but that is likely to lead to the Tia in question (if it's a hetero relationship, at least) wanting to or being encouraged to challenge the Nunh. I'm not sure if that specifically qualifies as polyamorous? Jealousy would be a foreign concept to that kind of relationship structure, save with maybe a few exceptions that would be outside the norm (read: "Man, that Susie is super weird. She flips out whenever the Nunh has some personal time with anyone but her. The Elders should really have a talk with her."), so in that respect where it's all mutual relations across multiple people, I guess it is kind of polyamorous. Mod note by FreelanceWizard: Text related to excised parts of the thread was removed.

2.5 Before the Fall Main Story Speculation! (2.4 spoilers)
Naunet replied to Kage's topic in FFXIV Discussion
I kinda hope this happens. Maybe not every last one of them. But it'd be a powerful moment in story to see that kind of political tragedy and would be a game-changer for Ul'dah's relationships with other nations. -
Eh, really? I thought the laws stated that even kissing was wrong just because it could potentially lead to more? Who said romantic or otherwise emotional connections necessitate kissing?
-
That's a possible route but for our tribe personally, all other forms of intimacy are discouraged among opposite-sex individuals to prevent accidental pregnancies and people refraining from breeding out of loyalty(or whatever) to their true partner. Not wholly accurate. I think it may be hard for people to grasp the kinds of relationships present in Seeker tribes because it is so very different from what we are used to in real life. That said, the only "intimacy" that is restricted in the Hipparion tribe is the kind that usually ends in babies. It's perfectly valid to have emotional connections elsewhere; however, if a woman and a Tia end up developing a strong romantic bond, I think it's probably likely that said Tia may make an effort to either 1) challenge the Nunh, or 2) just strike out on his own to establish a new territory and family-tribe. The first choice would be the most common. You have to consider the dynamics from a very non-Judeo-Christian-monogamous mindset. "Bob is the Nunh, but I'm in love with Jerry! I don't like Bob and didn't support him when he challenged the past Nunh. Maybe I should encourage Jerry to challenge Bob and try to win over some of my other sisters. I can even help train him so that he's sure to win!" Or, as is playing out in our current plot, it may look something like this: "Bob was nice at first, but I've really gotten to know Jerry lately, and I think he'd make a much better father than Bob... I don't hate Bob, but all of Bob's kids are messed up and Bob is so distant! That makes me sad, but Jerry is nice and I could be happy with him as Nunh..."

The scales are really off-putting. They definitely could have blended them better (and made them more pervasive? ) As they are, it just looks... not good. *scours dA for some examples* Ooooh and not just horns, but head crests. Yessss!

Well, according to a lot of white knights on the official forums, we should be grateful supplicants to the gracious god of SE. I personally think that attitude is toxic in a consumer-producer economic relationship, but there ya go.

Bayonetta is a really powerful, great example of a woman who has taken charge of her sexuality, rather than having sexuality foisted upon her.

Oh this would have been very cool.

I never thought I'd find the right one, but... The lovely Joan Fontaine makes such a convincing Antimony! ... If you add the ears and face marks, of course.

I think even BHS forgets the Amani.

Awe, no hi-res textures? :< I really don't know why they're being such sticks in the mud about that. PS3 limitations, I guess.

Reptiles often don't have external ear structures, so this part makes sense to me, as they seem to take at least some inspiration from reptilian creatures. I used it extensively to just populate my characters' histories with various NPCs. I have an addiction to character creation tools in any game.
-
It's possible the blue/tan scales are also tied to the clan distinction. But it's really hard to know for sure until they release customization details. I've heard they're working on a new benchmark? I hope the Au Ra are included in it.

This would help!

They are perfectly capable of changing it, and they (I suppose this could apply to the industry as a whole, as well) may be convinced to change if enough people speak up about it. I'm with Zyrusticae in that. You can't expect us to be capable of pushing into an industry that is likely neither of our specializations. Not everyone is a professional artist, and people who aren't have opinions that matter, too.

Y'know, now that I think about it, I think I would have preferred if the guys had been designed in a way that conformed to the girls. There are no dainty, fragile, non-muscle-bound men in this game. This would have been an excellent opportunity. But nope. No, I read his post quite thoroughly. And I disagree on pretty much every assertion. They do not look the same. I'll also point out that one of the chief complaints is that "big male/tiny female" is an overplayed design trope, so attempting to point out other races that may conform to it doesn't exactly do the defense much good.
-
I'm honestly unsure how you can look at the bodies, posture, features, and faces of the males and females and say that they are similar. o.0 The males are all angles, lanky limbs, sharp features, large and distinctive draconic parts. The females are soft and round with no muscle to speak of, horns that look more like hair ornaments, and barely discernible scales. >_>

Meh. I'm not really willing to jump through logic hoops to try and justify yet another "strong, muscular male/dainty, fragile female" race trope in video games. It is what it is, but I'm not gonna go giving SE encouragement.
